[SGP611] [23.4.A.1.264] Apply without loosing root - Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

Hello
I have a SGP611 with a rooted 23.4.A.1.232 build. I saw the 264 update is only 7.5Mb and thought it may be an incremental update.
Has someone tried to install official update on a rooted firmware ? Did you loose root ?
Thanks for any feedback

You will loose root, but if you have rooted firmware you can make flashable rooted zip to install on dualrecovery without wipe. hope this should work and you'll get update and root

[Q] OTA Update same as current Build 14.1.B.1.532 ?

Hi
I've come to the sony from the note 2 and I'm happy so far but have 1 issue I can't resolve.
Phone details
Bootloader unlocked

Baseband 8974-AAAAANAZQ-10220006-17

Questions
Should I update anyway ? Or will that wipe root access ?
If I update, will it then update to 14.1.B.2.257 ota ?
Or am I best to get 14.1.B.2.257 update n do manually ?
Thanks for help

no matter how you update, you will lose ROOT access.
It is still possible to get root back after updating, but does require a lot of work arounds to do it.

No,this is not true. If you install Voodoo OTA RootKeeper and do an OTA update, you can keep root. I tested it myself ...

Some thing I notes with update .257 that if you did OTA update the update will not delete the root or the busybox.
Thanks for the replys

[Q] Root new Official firmware for Xperia SP? Build 12.1.A.0.266

I am rooted when i update my 4.1 to 4.3 after 4.3 update is done super su tells "There is no Su binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!, If you just upgraded to android 4.3 you need to manually re root consult the relevant forums for your device!.
You can try DooMLords method again and see what happens? I don't know if that'll make you have to flash a whole new firmware again though

Lenovo Z2 Vibe K920 - OTA row s139_141211

I have rooted my Z2 Vibe using towelroot but I cannot install the newest OTA now. Is there a way around?
I think it's because of the Build.prop file can someone attach the stock build.prop file of the K920?
Thank you
Same issue, root with towelroot and now cannot update OTA

I'm going to try to flash a full rom and then if success with the flashing, i will then try to update OTA
A bit risky but i think thats the only solution i found for now..
Maybe this can give a refreshment since there's no answer yet..
even i have rooted my mobile with towel root but i was able to install the update successfully.

Do you have ROW version? And is there any clue why some device can not be update?
I've even try a Factory Reset before updating, and yet still not succeeded..
I have install some root app like, titanium, and viper4android, maybe some of my root application cause the failure..
As i know that viper4android is adding some features in system during driver instalation..
Can you list your root application that you've installed, so that i can predict which app that might cause my updating failure..
Thanks before for sharing with us..

i have titanium,, greenify, setcpu ,smanager, xposed installer, adaway, supersu, root explorer
Did you try unrooting te device and update?
The problem is with the build.prop file.
The hash of the file is beeing compared while flashing the update. There is a new update S141_150109
Flash the full rom wipes everything.
You can update OTA without problems if the build.prop is untouched which in my case isn't because I changed the locale and did not backup the file.
Please someone upload the original file.
Thank you
Made it!
Ok,
I made it. I found out why the updater won't update. I will upload a TWRP flashable zip.
This is an update from S139 to S141_150109 just flash though TWRP.
update.zip file for update
How do i install? Thanks!

Nope only way to root is flash a pre rooted zip and like 4.4.4 there wont most probably be any other way to root. So yes you will have to downgrade to 4.4.2-->Root-->Install Recovey-->Flash pre rooted 5.0

Yes , I managed to root the device and install the recovery. But the problem is that I like to de-bloat my phone after I root it with Titanium Backup and after I do that I get bootlooped when I install Xposed. Even when I install xposed 1st and then de bloat I still get bootlooped when I restart my device.
