MIUI 7 on IUNI U2 - A few problems - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I just registered because I have a problem with my IUNI U2 and it's driving me crazy.
I love the phone but I don't like the IUNI OS, it's giving me all sorts of problems, so I wanted to switch to MIUI 7 or 6 since I've always liked it. Few days ago I have noticed that MIUI 7 is now available for a number of other devices, including my IUNI U2.
The problem is this. I downloaded the zip file from the MIUI 7 IUNI U2 page, but when I open it, winrar gives me some sort of error, and the content is only a folder called META-INF, and inside this folder there is a file called MANIFEST.MF. That's it, no other files, and this seems kind of suspicios to me, like the file got corrupted during download and some files are missing? So I asked my girlfriend to download the same package on her PC to see if there were any differences; she downloaded it twice, same error and same contents of the file. I even tried the one on a chinese website, romzj, same thing. I don't know what's going on.
Also, how do I actually change from my IUNI OS to MIUI 6 or 7? I don't know what to do, I'm a total newbie, and this phone (IUNI U2) doesn't have much following, so there aren't any guides on what to do. Does the update wipe my data? Should I backup? How do I use the zip file?
Also, my Android version is 4.3 (the chinese website says that both MIUI 7 and 6 are for 4.4, will this cause any problems?) and build number is U2-32G-BetaV1.3-20140818.
I know my post was written in a confusing way and that I'm asking for a lot of help, but if someone could lend me a hand I would be eternally grateful to them. As I said, I'm kinda unexperienced when it comes to ROMs, so you'd be giving me a huge helping hand. Thanks in advance for your help!

What recovery did you use? I use the so called "CWM-based Recovery v6.0.5.1 Only for U810". If you replicate that steps you made I can very likely help you...

Trouble Installing Froyo (rootfs)

Hey guys,
I'm new here and need some help.
I've spent the past couple nights burning the midnight oil, reading through pages of the forum for something that will explain how to fix my problem.
I recently bought the HTC HD2, ditching my unlocked 2G iphone. So far, I'm not thrilled with Windows Mobile 6.5.
I really want to try Android on it. My wife has a myTouch, and I really like the interface. I did some reading around, and felt brave enough to tackle it.
Here's my issue:
I downloaded "HD2Froyo_V2.1", and extracted the contents to the desktop of my PC.
As explained in many places, I placed the Android folder that the zip file created onto the root of my SD card on the HD2. I first run CLRCAD, and then haret.
No matter how many times I run the haret.exe on the phone, I consistently get an error that says it can't locate the "rootfs".
I've tried deleting the Android folder and just placing all the files directly on the root drive, but it still fails to find rootfs.
The only hack I've done so far was to install HardSPL.
Other than that, I've not done anything else.
Any ideas what's preventing Android from installing?
Okay, I figured it out.
Android is up and running just fine.
I am, however, getting the robot voice.
Could someone recommend a solution? I'm assuming I need to try a custom ROM or radio, but I'm not sure which.
Thanks!
It's the radio. I'd recommend the latest one, 2.15. You already HSPL'd it so you're half way there.

to new to be a newbie help please

Hi Kids,
My wife just got home from Hong Kong with a HTC HD2 phone with what i think was windows in chinese (i think this could be switched th English) and in turn this could then be switched to Andriod in English.
Now I had not asked for the phone so had no idea what Andriod was or any of the rest of it.
I am not sure how the wife did it but when she was do something she lost the ability to switch to Andriod and in trying to reset it I think she has done a factory reset so it is now Chinese OS with nothing else on it no Andriod nothing but Chinese OS. on the one hand she is Chinese so not bad for her but I have been trying to change the OS to UK and start again.
I first looked here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591314 but that was a bit over my head and then ended up here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=606713
but i have no idea what a RUU_signed.nbh having looked further there is talk of original ROMs cooking and kitchens. Is the original rom a disk that came with the phone ? i dont want to try anything as i have no disk and dont know how to get the original ROm. I really am lost now I will do some reading but I have really been thrown in at the deep end is this tech is completely new to me.
thought please
Even a factory reset won't have deleted the Android folder from the card. Find File explorer. Find the Storage Card and there will be a folder called android. Tap the file called CLRDAD - nothing will happen, don't worry. Then tap the file named haret and wait - Android should boot up the way it was.

[Q] help slidepad NG 808 bricked

Hello everybody,
I'm new on this forum, and you are my last chance. I searched for a long time on the net, but nothing can help me. I bought a memup slidepad NG 808 a year ago (MID rk2918-based, 8" screen, HDMI, 1024 Mo RAM, 6470 Mo stockage) and i wanted to change the ROM because of the low of the official ROM. I searched how to root the tablet, i found and rooted it. After that, i tried to find files to install custom ROM in the tablet. I found a zip from OMA, and i tried to install the ROM via Rkandroidtool. But i made two mistakes. Mistake one, i don't make a backup of the original ROM (oups), and mistake two i don't install the ROM adapted to my tablet specs. When i reboot the tablet after install, the odys loox page appears ont he screen, and after the OMA screen, whith the lightning , appears, but the tablet freezes. I must push the reset button to make reboot the tablet. I can access to the CWM , but anything else. My question is, is it possible to reinstall a ROM from the CWM, and if it's possible, where can i download the file. If it's possible, i would want to install a custom ROM, but if it's not possible, the official ROM works well.
Thank you to welcome me to your forum,
Hello,
I searched on the net, and found some people who has the same problem than me, but no one can help us. I tried to connect my tablet to a ubuntu PC and i have access to the microsd content and the backup file stored in the storage memory of the tablet, with several files in .img. I imagine this is possible to replace this img files by non corrupted files and reboot the tablet. But where can i find this files?

[4.2.2][Fake GALAXY S5 mini][SM-G800][Translation] Useful notes on Translating

Hello
[INTRO](a little background)
This is a guide for those who want to have their phone in their language but the operating system does not have it built in. You can flash a new ROM that has it or install an app right? Not so much. There are reasons for these methods to fail or simply not work for your situation. My problem was that the bootlegged hardware was not supported by the official ROMs or the Android community. This forum is also riddled with threds that started by people who need to mod something about their phone but have no technical knowhow. There wouldn't be annything wrong with that exept that the awnsers in these threds are something along the lines "Oh you just need to do this thingnemabob" that's it one sentence pointing to a technical slang word that means nothing to anyone but a seasoned developer despite first post DIRECTLY STATES IT WAS MADE BY A PERSON ASKING FOR A STEP BY STEP SOLUTION OR A LINK TO A TUTORIAL!
[pre-procedure]
List of necessary software:
Zipsigner (this goes on your phone)
ADB
text editor of choice( notepad++ recommended)
AIO-Flasher
smali/backsmali (depeding on wether your system files are odexed more on that later)
APKstudio
[installing above software]
Zipsigner
Why you need it?
As you modify your apk files their signature changes. Basically if you change anything about them the phone will no longer recognise these as "its" therfor you need to convince your phone that these are in fact okay with zipsigner.
how to install?
This is an app. If you ever installed anything from Google playstore before than you know how to install it. Go to your Google play store app on your phone. Search for Zipsigner and pick the top app. Agree to all the demands and tap on install
ADB
why you need it?
this is a command line piece of software. these might be very scary to use but don't worry follow the tutorial and you'll be okay. That aside what is it used for. ADB is a powerful tool but we will use it only to copy and paste files to and from Phone
how to install it?
ADB comes packed up with Android Development Kit so the easiest way to install it is to get the ADK
[STEP 1]
Okay so you want to translate your phone for one reason or another. Make backup! Backups are important. You want to have something when you fail to fall back on. Yes "When" you fail. Not "if" you fail. You will screw up but as long as you have a proper backup everything is okay.
You can back up your phone in few different ways.
Hello
[INTRO] (skip if you are not interrested in fluff)
For the past week I lived in Android Hell looking for what I thought would be a simple procedure and I wanted to share my expieriences somewhere so that no one else has to go through this flustrating expierience.
I got two phones (Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S5 mini)and I was taked with translating them. Well It should not be a problem I thought because it should be as easy as going into [settings]>>[region and langages] and choosing Polish. There is no Polish. So that was my first step towards the translating thiese.
[STEP 1]
First thing first backup. I am by no means a talented programmer or modder so I went with Samsung Kies but software didn't recognise neither phone. After fiddling with drivers and a back-and-forth with samsung costumer support we came to conclusion that phones are fake. IMEI of one identifies it as a Blackberry and other as Nokia >_< well okay they still have some sort of Android so there should be a way to translate them anyway. First thing on the agenda is still backup. So I went through a triall and error to get both roms dumped. I was successful with ANDROID AIO FLASHER which was a godsend after I failed time and again to push romdump's INSTALL into the phone. I managed to get one ROM off by now but other Phone still insists on denying me ability to dump the rom because of Segmentation error. but at least I have one rom backed up.
[STEP 2]
Okay I got myself ROM now what? I decided to make a transfusion. Why bother with getting down and dirty when you can just use the work of others. So I downloaded a ROM with same version of the Android OS and begun looking for language pack or something similar. No luck this is not how Android works. After some research I came to the conclusion that in order to make things work I need to basically decompile each and every APK file that refers to system functionality and translate Strings.xml by hand in order to ensure compatibility.
[PRESENT DAY]
this is where I am now. all I wonder if there is a way to add a new file in the APKs with polish in it or should I just translate English "strings.xml" file and set langage to english?
Feel free to point out faults in my logic as well as provide tips and tricks for those of us who bought our phones on the cheap and just want to usethem with language they are comfortable with. I will build up this topic with factual information that I come across and try to make this into a universal guide to Android translation with resources to download. I do this because no one should be subjected to this and there is no decent step by step guide on this forum just disjointed and incompleate information in posths here and there. Belive me I looked both here and Google and after two weeks of finding nothing more than a hints I want to just give back to the community all I found.

[Q] more and more errors parsing

"there is a problem parsing the package"
i get it more and more, unexplainably.
It happens on APK files i have used before, in the same rom.. i am going mad !
for example, i am using a cubot gt99 (mtk device) with a custom rom - samsung lava s4 ported-
there is 1 problem with the custom rom that i know of, i cannot run a recent youtube version, i need a version 4.x.x
so i emailed that apk to myself to be able to download it ( i am fiddling with the device a lot to "play" with android, so i need to reinstall my rom every now and then, hey i am no expert )
this apk file has worked around 2 weeks ago, when i try the same file now, there is a problem parsing the package ?!?!?
