flashing xperia z2 tablet with broken "volume down button" - Xperia Z2 Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I tried to install on my Xperia Z2 Tablet CM. I rooted and made a backup of TA. Bootloader is still closed. When I wanted to flash, I recognized, that my volume down button is broken.
So, this tablet is new and I want to return it. But it is rooted and I don't want to loose my garantee.
Is there any possibilty to flash it without using the volume down button?
Thanks a lot.

Build number : 6.0.A.3.62
Android version : 2.3.7
How should I root it?
I guess root is only available for .63, .67 and .73
Thanks
Why don't you upgrade to one of the newer frimwares then?
Just flash doom stock kernel,it has root and recovey.
You can find it in dev section.

Do you not get a software update notification if you have it check for updates under settings.
You can always flash an ftf for your specific region with what ever version you want.

@rahulwadhwani and @all i rooted my phone and installed recovery by switching to the DoomLord Kernel.....I also maintained my .62 firmware, and got recovery and root.
Try Steps I Taken For This-:

3. Download DoomLord Stock Kernel -:
4. Make Phone To The FlashBoot Mode -:
*Click And Hold Up Volume Key While Plugging The Cable
5. Open Flash-Tool nad Select Flash Button ---> Flash-Boot Mode ---->Select The file Kernel File....If you can't see it there, try typing its name and click select.....
6. WoW you got New Advenced Stock Kernel With Root Permission And Recovery...ENJOY!!!!

Sony Xperia S Build 6.0.A.3.62
i have the build 6.0.A.3.62 with android 2.3 gingerbread. i have unlocked the bootloader but don't know how to test if it is unlocked or something else is still required. after unlocking the bootloader, when i powered up the phone, it was like i just bought the phone. it gave me those 9 steps to follow in order to setup internet connection, google account sync, etc. so how do I know if bootloader is unlocked on this phone?
now I'm dying here to root the phone lol. its been 20 hours i've been messing with the phone. right in this thread pratyush suggested to download the flashtool. but when i goto the flashtool website to download the latest version, the link is broken. file not found.
so i'm just wondering if someone can give step-by-step instructions for the build 6.0.A.3.62 and help me to root this device please. would appreciate your help a lot.
thanks for the help ppl ..

the latest one for my phone is 6.1.A.0.452 but all i wish to know, will it be easier to root the phone with 452 build? will i have to unlock the bootloader again after updating my phone to ics? i'm really a newbie and stupid when it comes to playing with electronic devices. but i can follow instructions accurately. sony gives a warning while upgrading that i wont be able to go back to 2.3 if i upgraded to ics. so all i wish to know, will it be easier to root the phone with present software build 62 or will it be better to upgrade and then root the phone on build 452?
please advise. thank you for your help.

You can go back to 2.3 just fine by flashing a ftf. There are a couple different methods to root ics. One needs an unlocked bootloader (flashing prerioted system image) the other does not (flashing multiple times while running some batch files). Both methods have posts in the dev section.

Easiest way is to unlock the booloader and flash the prerooted system.img you can then relock the bootloader if need be. That's for both ICS and GB.

You dont need to root to flash an firmware. Just saying.
Upgrade to ICS. Its much better and it would be much easier to help you because everyone uses it..
Good luck.
alrighty .. i tried to update the software but after downloading some odd 500 MB worth updates, it says "your software is modified, so can't be upgraded"
---------- Post added at 07:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:33 PM ----------
ok .. so i thought to do a factory reset on the phone settings > privacy > factory reset
it did factory reset and then i tried to upgrade the software. same thing ... it says, upgrade cant be done because the phone has modified software. i guess i will have to keep 2.3 gingerbread and then try to root the software. am i running out of options?

Touch Screen not working after flashing

Good morning. Yesterday, I tried to update my Sony Ericsson Xperia U, from version 2.3.7 to version 4.0.4 with the official software of sony. After upgrading, I noticed that the performance was very bad, and wanted to go back to version 2.3.7 again. I searched this forum, and I did with the Flashtool and st25i Iberia stock 2.3.7 rom. My surprise was that after flashing and booting the phone, the touch screen had stopped working, ie unresponsive. After this disaster, I picked up the official Sony software to try to return the version 4.0.4 in order to revive the mobile, but unfortunately, the touch screen was not working. Do not understand what happens, and do not know how to fix it. I have read similar threads in this forum, but can not locate the solution. Can you help? Could have lost the warranty?

Ok.
No, the bootloader has not been changed, and the phone is not root. Furthermore, the bootloader is locked. It's impossible unlock it. The other information I can not give it, because I can not access it. The phone does not respond, and I can not get into the phone information. I upgrade the phone with sony companion software to android 4.0.4 yesterday. When I saw the android 4 is not going fast, I did the following roms flash with flashtool.
http://dfiles.eu/files/slix4vr06 --> 2.3.7 --> The touch screen doesn't work after flash this version
http://uploaded.net/file/6wqdbixb --> 4.0.4 --> The touch screen doesn't work after flash this version.
upgrade with sony companion software --> 4.0.4 --> The touch screen doesn't work after upgrade with sony official software.
Can you help me in another way?
try to flash with this one and i don t know then if its the same ask someone else sorry :silly:

I tried yet, but It doesn't work. The touch screen is dead. It's very strange. Could be flashtool the problem?
Dont think so...sounds more like theres a driver not loadind in kernel or bootload i dont think prob com from the rom anyways i cant help u more than that sorry dude... Flash stock kernel u will see
depuis mon Xperia P avec Tapatalk 2
Most common cause of touchscreen failure is flashing ftf of different device like go or sola
Bt both ur links points to st25i fw which seems legitimate
I suggest u should submit it to service center and behave like a noob
Tell them u u upgraded to newer version with sony software and it didnt worked
Edit - u can flash manually touchscreen fw via cwm bt that would require the highest level of expertise ...

Yes, flashing new (unrooted) firmware will always overwrite root, but you can follow these root instructions to root .314.
yes you will but can get it back

yes you will loose root but you should be able to root it again
personally i do have Xperia Z2 everything factory installed (rooted) 17.1.2.A.0.314
i updated it with sony PC Companion and rooted it again with EasyRootTool v12.1 after 1st unsuccessful attempt with Chinese dev's root tool.(when i say unsuccessful that doesn't mean the tool is unsuccessful i probably wasn't using it the way i should)
latest easyroottool is here (new version of the one i have used to root updated Z2)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784900
chinese dev's tool is here in case you need it (or find latest version if there is any probably wont need it)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559009
before you wanna go ahead i would say research a bit more if you feel like it. personally i wasn't very careful cause i got DRM Keys backup thanx to devs but i got it done with EasyRootTool V12.1 in 2nd attempt.
goodluck
You'll only need to back up TA (where DRM keys are located) if you unlock your bootloader. Also, you only need to unlock your bootloader if you are flashing a custom kernel or Rom that requires a custom kernel. If you are only wanting root, there is no need to back up your TA partition. So just use the Easyroot tool to root after updating to .314 via PC companion if you are using that method m8:good:
It's a litle late to write about TA backup when he talks about loosing root at upgrade.
