Restore CWM backup in virtual android - Android

Hey everyone!
(hope I'm at the correct forum)
Well I recently lost my Wiko Highway and there was some important information I didn't want to lose.
I had a backup from CWM (since it was rooted and with a custom rom) and I would like to know if there is any way to restore it to a virtual emulator so that I could extract what I want.
Thanks in advance!

Some questions: Nandroid and Rooting

Ok a few basic questions if someone would be so kind! :
- Can Nandroid and more specifically creating a backup image of the phone only be done *after* rooting?
- Would any backup image therefore include the rooted "state" of the phone if reapplied?
- By rooting the phone does the warranty through Orange become invalid?
Ta,

1. No, it can be done before.
2. Yes reapplying a rooted image will get you root
3. Don't know!
Hi Kadison,
In which case would you be so kind as to tell me how to create a backup image without rooting / point me in the right direction for more information please?
Thanks!
Go to Modaco's site, follow the instructions to the letter and you'll then be able to boot your phone into the recovery image, and perform a nandroid backup.
The backup will be stored on your SD card and can be moved to your PC.
Awesome, thanks
Hi another question from a different newbie. If I back up using Nandroid, apply another ROM (with wipe), does Nandroid then let me restore all my apps or will it restore the whole previous ROM?

Click to collapse
My understanding is Nandroid will restore whatever ROM it was used to generate a backup.
Thanks for that. Another noobie question though, what happens to apps I've bought etc if I flash a new ROM?
Thanks

[Q] xrecovery

hey im new to this forum quick question to ask sorry if its been asked before.
if i install a new rom on my x10 (same as the old one but just altered) does it delete all my texts ? if so how do i get them back when the rom is installed ?
and i made a backup of the phone through xrecovery does that backup texts also ?
thanks
IF you make a backup with xrecovery, when/if you restore the backup, it will be EXACTLY like it was when you made the backup, right down to the text messages you had... It is a total mirror image.
In order to keep them when flashing new roms, you can use titanium backup and backup/restore the app + data, or when you flash a new rom you can restore just the data partition from a previous rom in xrecovery as well...
thankyou !

[Q] Apply nandroid backup onto an AVD emulator?

Hi, on my HTC Nexus One, I recently made a leap from GingerBread with Cyanogen Mod 7.1 to JellyBean 4.2.1 with Cyanogen Mod 10.1.
I started with an Amon-RA nandroid backup, and later on, I had to use BlackRose in order to change partition sizes.
I thought I backed up all my applications, but it turns out that I lost valuable data during the switch.
Now I'm afraid to load the prev. nandroid into the current configuration due to the modified partition sizes (I also do not know what were the prev. partition sizes).
So I was wondering if there's any way I could load the nandroid backup onto a virtual AVD machine, in order to extract my data files?
(*) If there's a better way to read data from a nandroid backup - I would love to hear about it.
Thanks for reading.
Bump.. ideas anyone?
Alternatively - can someone say what's the original Nexus One partition sizes, so I would do the whole round-trip to the old backup and back again?

[Q] Question about CWM Recovery Backup

Hello!
I have theoretical question about backup performed by CWM Recovery. Need some info for school project I'm working for.
When you make backup of system and data by CWM, is it possible for person who know-how-to to extract data without device to load this backup into?
Looking forward for answer! Thanks in advance~!
Bump.

[Help] Making a COMPLETE backup using Titanium Backup and TWRP

Hey all,
So I've dabbled in rooted Androids for a while. If you're an experienced TWRP user or ROOT user, then I don't need to get into gross details. What I want to know is how to properly use TWRP and Titanium Backup to make a COMPLETE backup of my device. Apps, settings, cache, etc.
Anyone know of a guide or able to help me out? Thank you so much in advance!
