I just flashed CM (used Superbass excellent instructions) and LOVE the phone again. It is FAST and works flawlessly. The only thing I miss is the stock Camera app. Is there any way to install the stock Huawei Camera app on a phone that is running CM? I am not really experienced at rooting and installing custom ROM's so any help is appreciated!
It's been asked several times. Nope.

Hello!
Been using MIUI , but suddently i wanted to start taking some nice photos, and since the MIUI/CM Based roms have a terrible camera quality the only option is to flash a stock based rom.
Tried a couple last night (Revolution and Simply Stock) and both didn't work. (had bootloop when the phone was trying to do something with a partition and, aparently, i had not enough space on the partition). So i'm now looking for a stable one. Would love if there was a GB stable one, but can't seem to find any :\
Also tried to flash back to the stock (eclair i suppose), but couldn't connect to my wifi spot neither update it using kies :S
Any help here would be great
im using project. very stable. try it...
zendroid is very stable. Has best battery life, stability, and working features out there imo. No need for eclair(2.1!?), just find a 2.2 rom.(bionic, bi-winning, project).
Look around, as there are MANY users like you who have no need to put up with unpredictable and battery draining 2.3 roms.
you couldn't flash another rom because you HAVE to flash back to stock jfd when coming back from cm7 or miui
I don't think ROMS have such an effect on Camera Quality. Most of them will be cool. Go for Bionix thats good.
Ultimate rom is nuts.

Hello all,
I just got my Note today, and thought I would come on over to XDA and say hi to everyone. I have had a little experience with android, as I had an infuse for around 10 months. I already have this thing rooted, cwm recovery installed, and I am currently creating a backup with it. I just have a couple of questions:
1. Is there a way to use ROM Manager with this phone? I can't seem to find which, if any, firmware to flash. Is there a workaround?
2. ROM SUGGESTIONS. Have any of you found one that was just awesome? Gingerbread or ICS?
Thanks for all the help guys!

Or both. download both and check them out. both great roms.
and, don't use rom manager to flash anything
always reboot to recovery, and flash that way
Last I heard ROM manager was abandoned. I am using the unofficial and I love it.
Welcome to the note, it is a beast.

i just flashed the ROM per this leak http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-note-i717-roms/ics-rom-for-att-galaxy-note-sgh-i717-leaked/
seems to work great so far - even the s memo improved in responsiveness and definitely the app tray is much improved.
I also use quickboot - which is a soft way of getting into recovery to flash other roms rather than the button combos
Thanks for all of the suggestions so far guys! I'm loving the phone, and the community seems awesome! Right now I'm running team perfection's ics objection. It seems good and stable thus far. I'll probably flash a few others to try them out as well. Forgive me if this has been posted somewhere else, but does uotkitchen work with the note?

Hi guys,I installed WanamLite ROM 6.6 and Perseus kernel 36.3 with undervolt settings. My phone is ASV6 type. I had problem with my camera. It says "Can't connect to camera". I also tried third party camera like Camera360 and the Nexus 4 camera.
I installed AOSP ROMs like Temasek's CM10.1 with his kernel. But still no luck. The rest of things are working fine.
I flashed back to Stock ROM with latest 4.1.2 jellybean firmware.
But the weird thing is, why the camera are working only Stock ROM? It is still working although I rooted it.
Any ideas?
EDIT: I was thinking that it is a kernel issue, so I tried to flash other kernel. But still didn't work.
EDIT 2: Typo " why the camera are working only Stock ROM?"
Actually for AOSP roms the error is quite a know problem. Nevertheless Wanam is based on Samsung TW, hence camera should work fine.

Thanks for replying, FYI I've flashed MIUI ROM v4 for a while. Still does't work. So I can confirm that I have the problem when installing a custom ROM.
Hi,
I just learned how to root, unlock bootloader, install custom recovery, and ultimately install a custom ROM.
I have tried installing Carbon ROM and Mondified, but the camera is not working. Any possible way to get them to work on those ROMS, and if not, is there another ROM I can install to fix the camera issue? To be specific, on Carbon ROM it will take pics, but not focus. On the Mondified ROM it will not focus or even take pics.
I am also thinking about the possibility of flashing stock ROM, but for some reason the FlashTool does not recognize my device hence I cannot flash stock FW.
Thanks in advance,
j
I think carbon ROM is CM11 based which means that since CM11 Camera doesn't work Carbon ROM Camera wont work

Yeah, AOSP and/or cm based rooms are having camera problems currently. That's the reason I stick with Sony roms on this device. I love AOSP, but the Sony UI is very close to stock Android, closer than any other manufacturer except perhaps Motorola. Throw in a few xposed modules to tweak things to your liking and forgettaboutit!
sorry if this ha been asked before, I tried searching but could not find a definite answer I've been away Xda-developers for a while, but I am now looking to upgrade my S3 ROM, maybe using a custom build 4.4, but I remember the camera didn't had all the functions of the stock ROM, is this still the case? I use the camera extensively so its an important part for me, should I just stick with a modified stock ROM?
Stock based roms is what you want if camera is important to you.
working?
Thank you, I imagined that was the case, but wanted to make sure
