Is it safe to remove the email app? - Sony Xperia M4 Aqua

I've rooted the phone, and removed ALL (i think) the bloat. But i'm still wondering if i can remove the E-mail app & The Gallery app (is it used for the camera?)

If you are not sure, lock them via Titanium-backup. If all works, then remove them.

Can I safely remove TImescape and Talk using Root Uninstaller?

Believe or not, I have managed to root my phone. It is a big success for a dummy!
I have downloaded Root Uninstaler form Market and would like to get rid of some junk apps. Junk for me because I don't need them.
I SWEAR I have SEARHED, but some poeple had problems after uninstalling and some not and I am CONFUSED. So please help me, this is way out of my league and I can't screw it up.
I also don't have access to a pc where pc companion, super one click etc work, I had to BEG a friend and I don't want to do that again so I can't simply reinstal software everytime I mess something up.
So please, let me know if I can remove
-Timescape stuff without loss of funcionality to sms, contacts, calls ( I just hate Twitter and Facebook)
-Talk (it is Gmail talk right?) without losing Market
-Backup and restore- the default one-I hate it because it keeps running on its own, even though I did not set it too.
-Default input? This keeps running too
-Device monitor
-Uwlop service
-default music player
I obviously can't delete Messagin if I want sms to work? But it kees running too even if I dont get any sms etc.
And come to think of it, I don't really need gmail either.
Please, someone with knowledge, reply. I have searched but I can't find my way arounf here well and i am really confused.
Yes, i use systemapp uninstaller from the market. there are some more of the sys apps which can be removed, such as play now too.

Check X10 mini wiki page. It has a list of applications you can safely remove. Of course it is always better to have backups before removing system apps.
To uninstall timecape for example there are several things you need to uninstall: timescape provider, timescape plugin, timescape, sns provider and sns cache provider.
I your place i wouldn't mess with default input as changing keyboards might b above your level at this moment. Perhaps later when you feel more comfortable.
Thanks sofar you guy, your info helped a bit.
At the wiki page some things are not metioned.
Including backup and restore and everything to do with sync.
semchekin servce?
I think backup and restore can be deleted, but i'd leave semccheckin and anything to do with syncing.
Ok thanks.
So far I haven't wrecked anything.
Now this just leaves default SMS application. What if I uninstall this?
If you use handcent, i think you can delete stock messaging.
If you use go sms, then you have to keep stock messaging app, because go sms uses some stock messaging functions.
You can delete default music player if you have a replacement, but most music players will start running on their own.
I use Handcent. Thank you, you have been of great help.
Be carefull!
I'm pretty sure deleteing default sms app made me lose delivery reports in Hnadcent sms and removing Talk made me lose ability to download in Market

[De-Samsunging] process com.sec.android.widgetapp

Okay so i have been cleaning out the unwanted samsung junk from my handset ( yeah i checked whats safe to remove.
i uninstalled the EMAIL app (not Gmail) and android says the application EMAIL "process com.sec.android.widgetapp has stopped unexpectedly, force close on every boot.
i dont even want to have the widget running, is there away to uninstall that widget or cause the system to not call for that function ?
anyideas ?
i can't remove the emailwidget.apk or emailwidget.odex from /system/app
** Solved - Removed email app via clockwork mod that reappeared after reboot and after doing ;
delete("/system/app/Emailwidget.apk");
delete("/system/app/Emailwidget.odex")**
Do9n't quote me on this, but I think I remember someone on the SGS forum who did this, and found out the email app was needed to keep the camera working.
As stated, not sure and possibly irrelevant anyway...

[Q] want to get rid of gmail app... what can I do?

So I want to remove the G mail app from my phone or at least not use it. This is more of a privacy issue. I want to use a full featured app like K-9 where I can set a master password so users that I lend my phone to momentarily dont start going into my inbox and other folders.
So is there a way to totally remove the gmail app. If not will just removing my account info from the gmail app (if possible) also unsync me from the other Google services connected to my phone?
Thank you
Root phone.
Download root uninstaller.
Uninstall Gmail from app.

You could disable sync in settings. This app may be of some use. If your device is rooted, you can use a root uninstaller app (as mentioned) to remove it (or you could simply delete it from /system/app/ - root still required.)
Just make a backup of the app (incase u need it in future) b4 deleting it from system/app.

use this wonderful app to uninstall any system app u can backup it tooo !! and many more tweaks

[Q] My stock Contacts app was deleted/uninstalled. How to replace?

I'm not sure how it happened, but my stock Contacts app is no longer on my phone. The Contacts storage is there, as an addon dialer can still make calls to existing contacts. I cannot, however, add contacts or do anything else that requires the Contacts app.
My Note has never been rooted and is running only apps from the Google Play store. I am hoping that there is a way to simply reinstall the apk if one is available, but I am interested in any suggestions people have.
Thanks!
If your not rooted then I'm not sure how a system app was uninstalled, did you double check your app drawer it could just be deleted from your homescreen

It didn't make sense to me either, but it is gone from the app drawer. I use the ContactsEX app and it can pull from the Contacts Storage, but when I attempt to add contacts, edit contacts, etc., the stock Contacts app does not appear.
A few minutes ago I did download from one of the forums here the stock Contacts apk. When I attempted to install the apk, installation failed because a file of that name already existed. Since that suggests that the original apk is there somewhere, would a hard/factory reset work to get the Contact app back?
go to system settings and apps. you want to view all. see if it lists contacts. if it is there then the third party conacts app may be the problem. make sure it is not set to be default app. maybe try clearing data for the app and reboot.

It wasn't in the system apps list. I uninstalled the third party contacts app, but then I had no way to get to my contacts or dialer. When I reinstalled the third party contacts app, I again had access to the existing contacts and could place calls. Still no way to access the stock contacts/dialer or edit existing contacts.
If a system reset would fix this, that's cool. I just don't want to do a reset and then still have the problem.
A factory reset should fix this, maybe consider rooting and flashing a rom

If I fix this, then my wife says she will take this phone and I can buy a Note II. Then I will root.
If that's the case then factory reset or Odin back to stock and get a note II man.
Simply rename the new contacts apk by adding a single number or letter to the end ...then it should install, and avoid the duplicate file failure ....
Or ....get a note 2.....that'll fix it ....LOL ...g

Making Google's contacts app the default on S9+

Is there a way to do this? Google's contact app doesn't appear in the list for the default calling app. And what do I do in adb to uninstall the default contacts app?
I'm on an unrooted S9+, and have been using adb to remove a bunch of bloatware.
Are you talking about this app?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.contacts&hl=en_US
If so then it most likely will not show up as an option for the default calling app.. That's because it's not an actual calling app like Samsung contacts (which seems to bundle the dialer app in it). The Google Contacts app (linked above) is strictly a contact manager/sync app

Oh ok. So if I use adb to uninstall the default contacts app, will Google contacts and the phone app still work?

Considering it's not a bloatware item and it's integration with the existing dialer app I would just leave the contacts app alone. There is no harm in leaving it installed.
I would just install and use the Google Contact's app. If prompted by Google Contacts app to select a dialer app you can choose from what is displayed as options for use.
