Need files! - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
So basically I think my Galaxy S3 i9300 is bricked .When I turn it on it goes into download mode.I want to flash a ROM on it but have trouble finding the proper one.Can someone give me links to a ROM which has .pit, csc and modem files?
please point me in the right direction. Thanks

Depends on yre choice , stock or custom

I want links to a stock ROM please.

Sammobile is your best bet. It has almost all stock firmwares for all Samsung phones.
However , the download speed is limited to around 50kb/s for free users

SAMMobile only gives the .md5 file. I need a ROM with all the files I listed.

Try here : http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9300
The region codes are listed here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/csc-codes-t2090739
Note: you don't allways need to use all the files, in most of the cases csc and pda is enough

When I had same issue on gti9300 I flashed my recovery tar file with Odin again and enabled me to boot into recovery with power vol- up home keys.

[Q] stuck without an OS

hello
i rooted the phone and installed recovery , downloaded custom rom and placed it by mistake on the EXTERNAL SD instead of the internal , and i formatted the OS (without making a backup) , and then i found out that CWM doesn't support external SD on the GS2 .. so now i'm stuck without a OS..
i googled a lot and i found only 1 topic about the same problem , and the solution there was to flash stock using odin , so i looked for the stock rom that i had (Pelephone Israel) and i'm downloading it, and its taking like forever to be completed ..
my question (which i couldn't find an answer to anywhere) whats the difference between flashing a rom via CMW and Odin ? can i just flash it from Odin instead of waiting another hour or 2 till the download is done and then flash it , reroot and flash recovery then flash custom rom ?
another question, when flashing a custom rom vua CWM , does it change the kernel ? (while Odin doesn't ?)
i'm a little confused here and i would appreciate any help (by the way the GS2 is my fiend's and its the first time i try flashing one)
Flashing via odin: You can only use tar files, and it boosts your custom binary count.
Flashing via CWM: It uses zip files, which is the most popular format for most roms. And it doesn't boot your custom binary counter. It's also harder to mess up flashing.
Pretty sure that's right. Just use CWM.
Edit: CWM only changes the kernel if the kernel is within the rom's zip.

thanks for the fast reply
do you confirm that flashing stock via Odin will solve my problem ? any worries of a brick there doing that?
what happens if i flash (via Odin) a firmware that uses a different kirnel from the 1 installed?
thanks again
as long as u're following the instructions right i'm sure you'll be fine..
if you are flashing via odin, PDA file is the ROM which usually includes a kernel.

the thing is that there are no instructions .. someone told the OP to flash original firmware via Odin and thats all .. i couldn't find any information anywhere thats why i got confused and i'm asking here ..
what i'm downloading is the exact original firmware i had before .. i have CWM installed but apparently its useless in my case , and i can enter download mode ..
what i'm planning to do is flash the firmware i'm downloading via Odin (its either 1 PDA file or 3 different files , thats not the case here ..) , and all i need is a confirmation that i'm safe ..
thanks

You can safely update the official firmware using odin and you won't bork anything by that method. I hope you have enabled the USB debugging mode in your mobile or else odin might not recognize the phone.

no need to unroot ma8, since flashing stock firmware will automatically unroot ur phone, after that if u need root then u can always do so
ps- ensure that u dwnld the proper firmware meant for ur device(if its I9100 then the one corresponding to it) and follow the ODIN instruction carefully for a successfull flash
1). Download official firmware for your device from samobile.com , Google and download Odin .
2) Extract the zip downloaded from samobile . It will be a .tar or .tar.md5 file.
3) Boot into Odin mode like u did earlier
4) Run Odin and connect your device . Odin will detect and will show the port number.
5) In PDA ,select the extracted file.
Don't change any other option .
6) Press Start
Odin will flash the binary . Wait till process is complete. On completion it shows pass.
Your phone will boot automatically.

[Q] Help me please.. Galaxy s2 stuck on boot logo...

I am a newbie from Nepal. I dont have much knowledge of flashing. A week ago i tried to flash CMW recover while i was in resurrection remix JB rom. Till then i am not able to start my phone because it freezes at "Samsung Galaxy S2" logo... Now i dont know the CSC, PDA and kernel version of my mobile. So please help me solve my problem, how can i make it work?
Boot into recovery (Turn phone off. Then hold home/power/volume up) & do a wipe/factory reset. Or if you have a recent backup (or any backup) restore that from recovery. I've done this a couple of times over the past few mths when my phone has spontaneously bootlooped.
didnt help

In that case flash any stock rom you like. I gather you'll be going back to a custom rom pretty quickly in any case (?) so it doesn't matter. Whatever you do tho, do not flash a PIT.

All I can do is download a rom which is in zip format, but i know odin does not support .zip but it supports .tar, so how can i download rom in .tar, also does it matter if I flashed the rom which is not meant for my region?(I mean I dont know my phone's PDA and I am not able to decide which firmware to download since every firmware has its own specific PDA)... Yes, I'll be going back again to custom rom after I make it work...haha
AFAIK a rom for another country wont break your phone, but be careful with 4.0.4 roms because of the brickbug

go to http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3 and choose the stock or even another stock rom you wish, download it.
Boot into download mode and flash the single .tar file through odin, flashing instructions can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
PD: if the downloaded file is .zip and not .tar, just extract the zip and u'll get the .tar

He means don't do a wipe/factory reset from recovery while you're running that kernel. Once you switch to a custom kernel you can relax tho.

Parameter is incorrect error can be caused by either of two reasons
1 . something is wrong with the file you downloaded try re downloading
2.Kies is interfering with Odin, terminate Kies from the background by using the task manager.

Well come back to life my Galaxy S3-i9300

Hi
sorry for my bad english
a few days ago i did an update via odin.i mean i want to change firmware to another stock rom to test battery life and something else but my mistake is that i used PIT file.that erase every thing and after that S3 freeze at boot logo ,very lagy and restart by itself.
i searched internet and unfourtunately i found my s3 bricked
but now its ok and the solution is ever u used PIT(partition information table)u must flash files that ur s3 need.
=================================================
1-u must use correct version of samsung galaxy s3(i9300) = Odin3 v3.04
2-go to download mode by presing volume down + menu + power and then select wolume up
3-flash pit file with odin .phone will restart and then enter download mode by step 2 again then go to step 4 (this isnt necessary more)
4-if u want flash desired stock rom do this by PDA button
5-if u do step 4 then restart or not flash PARAM.bin by PHONE button via odin
thats the point , param.bin is the solution for s3
its worked for my dead galaxy s3 gt-i9300 and i thought that bricked
=======================
extract files and uses them
i extracted param.bin from a stock korean firmware
hope it will help who search for solution :victory:
Good but Really works ??
hi
i think this can help if use PIT file.i test without using PIT file and no problem happens.
if phone is slow and laggy and restart with no reason i think its good to test this solution.however this file available in boot loader and main firmware file but flash it instead of those can help
when u flash .pit or .param do you need to enable Re-partition on Odin?

hello,I had initially no WIFI, then a few days later brick.
Hopefully boot always correct and I could flash some original ROM.
But doing so the IMEI and other where lost (while files are written in the EFS partition-directory
My 9300 INT (Europe-France) works but limited to Wifi. 4.1.2 version with EMG4 (recent 2013 july) the 9300 date sept 2012
The EFS was probably overriden
I flashed different ROMS and could not have it back, but I did not try to use PIT rebuilding.
I am actually with an EMG4 modem - so I just wonder
Is the param.bin a descriptive file fro PIT ?
If not what kind of PIT file may I use ? is it included in a part of the ROM files ?
If I put the complete rom file in the PIT window of ODIN, will ODIN use only PIT? or will it FLASH the complete ROM + PIT.
SOrry to be new to this, I can understand shell, ADB, busybox, root etc, but the way the flashing is mounting files and partitioopns escapes me.
Thank you in advance if someone can give me a hand.
Regards
PS I had seen almost 100 pages of different methods and no real TUTO when no backup is find (I may have one at some point but on another SD...
So I know no miracle exist, out of specific equipment. , box, ...
Sorry for the 10001 quetion about the same troublewith IEMI/EFS
Help
there is no PIT partition here
i can't understand if i need to flash param or not. if its not needed then why download it ?
i can't connect to wifi and can't use dialer, does above method solve my problem ?

Odin is for flashing the original firmware from Samsung. You should be able to find it here in the forum for your phone. They usually will post it either in the General or Development sub-forums. If you can't find the exact one you need, then you can check out sammobile.com, though it is usually a pretty slow download. You must use the one for your variant of S4 and can be specific to your carrier or region, depending on which S4 you have. You should only use the same firmware or newer.
odin for samsung
i will recommend try flashing a custom recovery like twrp or philz for flashing a custom rom
flash recovery image using odin or any adb boot type commands
also be device specific when u search for rooting or flashing roms to avoid bricking of the device
