Soft bricked my phone and can't fix it - Sprint LG G3

When I try and power my phone on, it stays at the boot screen. I tried following this guide to fix it, but I get an error at step #20. I'm using LS990. Any help is appreciated.
I also tried this and get a "Download FAIL!!" on step #20 as well.

Try changing the option In Flashtool back to Board upgrade.

I believe upgrade is for just updating firmware, rather then reflashing firmware. But, I read a forum where one guy said he flipped Flashtool back to upgrade and it worked. If this doesn't do it, then it must be something else wrong, like wrong dll or bad usb wire or port, or possibly LG drivers didn't install correctly.

[Q]Soft Bricked my Samsung Galaxy SII

Hi there
I have a problem with my Samsung s2.
I have installed kies nor any other software on my pc to sync my phone to it. i don't even know how kies works...
I was going through the phone and under system i saw the update option...i updated the phone and the firmware too...after about 3-4 installations and reboots the phone got stuck on the start up screen...i tried hard reboot by holding the power+volume up+menu/OK keys - Nothing happened
then i deleted all my files from the sd card but that dint help either. Then i saw a video on youtube about clockworkmod... i followed that and after doing so the phone now goes to start up screen with a yellow triangle. when i try installing the ROM from odin it fails. Since then i got an icon showing that there is an error on the connectivity between the phone and the computer...i ran the clockworkmod again using odin and the phone returned to start up screen with a yellow triangle. The phone only goes to download mode but doesn't go to recovery/clockworkmod anymore (power+volume up+menu/OK buttons).
Another weird thing is that the phone doesn't turn off, as in if i press the power button for about 5 seconds the screen goes off but turn back on again...so if i have to reboot the phone i have to completely remove the battery n put it back in. when connected to the computer i don't see any storage drives on my computer only Odin detects the phone.
Please help me...
Thanks
Abbas
first try if you dont have a jig, remove battery and put back then Vol-down+Home+power...once you get download mod
Try a stock GB version on the ODIN from the link of All stock roms in my signature
make sure KIES is not running...and connected your phone directly to your PC motherbord USB socket, not through any hub or front USB socket...
better you give a full description of your problem like "soft bricked" instead of just "Q" on the heading, so that other can see at a glance...
Hi Zaheed,
Sorry about the heading...i actually accidentally posted this thread without the heading and now i cant see where i can edit it.
I will try what you have suggested and will revert to you.
Thanks

you can download it from here http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-I9100&r=1#regiona
latest GB is XWLA4
Make sure your phone is I9100, not I9100G / I9100T or any other

this one is working: http://skywanker.net/download/downl...9100_DBT_I9100XWLA4_I9100XXKI4_I9100DBTKH1.7z
just download and unzip, then you wil get a single file, which to be selected from PDA of ODIN...thats it
feel free to ask more....
Hi once again,
i have just checked and found out that my phone's model is I9100G and not I9100. is this a problem or would i need to download another software for that?

Stuck on Security Error [HELP!!!]

I was trying to install a custom ROM and did not know I needed an unlocked bootloader, as I used ROMs on a S4 without doing any extra work.
Anyway, so when I attempted that, my Optimus L9 rebooted and gave me the LG logo with the "Security Error" words below it. It's stuck on that now. I tried using the LG Mobile Support Tool, but it gets stuck on downloading new software. The progress bar disappears quickly, so I'm sure it's not downloading.
I tried leaving it to download for around 45 minutes, but it was stuck on the same screen when I came back, with no progress bar. It can't be that it's taking long, I have decent Internet (150/75). I'm afraid of leaving it for hours as the device does heat up.
Is there ANYTHING I can do? I tried calling LG and the woman who was there to help me was rude and treated me like an idiot, only to give me the solution of sending it in. PLEASE help me!!

It's always best to include your device model when asking questions like this. There are four models of the L9 and the all have different quirks.
A factory hard-reset or use the 'Recovery' option in the LG Support tool. Only things I can think of at the moment with a lack of details.
Did you back anything up? If not, not much else to do other than try what I've suggested.
This post may also be of some interest.
Advice::
Never assume anything. Research is your friend I had an LG Optimus One, was easy to mod, root, etc. I bought this L9 ( P769 ) on the assumption that it would be similar. Boy was I wrong. However, I did the research before attempting to do anything with the L9.

I really regret doing what I did :crying:. It's definitely a huge lesson for me.
My model: LG Optimus L9 MS769 (back cover says P769?)
If a factory hard-reset means holding the home button, voIume UP button, and power button, then I already did that but I did not reach the robot.
In the LG support tool, after I enter S/W upgrade mode, it says the software version is V10D and that there is an upgrade available. When I start the upgrade, it goes through the first step but when I get to the second step, it doesn't download I think. I have an image but I can't link to it since I have under 10 posts.

Their network is horribly slow. I've heard of people waiting 2 hours. In addition the tool appears to freeze. However, it's still operating.
I don't prefer this method because of the time.
Learn how to use the unofficial fastboot & offline flash.
Or just keep waiting for that program to finish.

So it's normal? The reason I thought otherwise was because when I searched, I saw 0 people with the stuck/long download issue and figured it was just me. I didn't want to risk my device even further as I am aware that it has been soft-bricked, so there is a little hope available. Should I let it sit for 3-4 hours and let it over-heat?
I attempted the fastboot method but my device was not showing under the Devices section. I do not have a "Other Devices" section when I get to the step.
I am trying the offline flash method now, although I can't find a working V10D KDZ.

As in LG Support Tool? No I don't think it will since your phone has been altered with unofficial methods. I could be wrong tho.
Just realized something else strange, IMHO, my P769 came with Android 4.1.2 ( JellyBean ) and you say you were on stock ICS?
Just out of curiosity was it a WalMart purchase? They're still advertised as having ICS 4.0.4. Last update I got was to from V20G to V20H which is what I'm on now.

I mean that in order for the KDZ flash to work you must do some edits in the host file so that you can do the offline fix, I did it but it won't work as the tool crashes while connecting to the device.
My device also came with 4.1.2. It did not come with ICS. But when I open the support tool it says V10D. I bought my L9 from an official MetroPCS store

Yep. Hurry up and right click on it before it disappears and select "Update Driver". You need to manually point Device Manager to the usb_driver folder in the fastboot tools folder. You may have to do that a couple times. If successful, unplug USB from device wait a couple seconds and plug back in. This will reinstall the drivers just in case they didn't take the first time.

I got fastboot to work!!! I got the inverted screen and all. Now the problem is that I can't flash the phone . I keep trying a KDZ I downloaded. The supporter tool provided in the zip keeps trying to connect to the phone, the UpTest one loads the new Support Tool and it crashes, and the KDZ UPD tool gets stuck on unpacking KDZ and says no phone found.

[Unbrick][Wrong Flash] LG L7 II Flashed with L7 Firmware

Hello guys. After I have written the No Emergency Mode and No QDL 9008 detection Tutorial Unbrick, I researched a little with the help of my good friend @maxx_hr and in conclusion here is a method that doesn't include opening the device like in this tutorial. It is kind of easy for the normal user to do.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE AND CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. FLASHING THIS ON L7 OR L7 II WILL FULLY BRICK YOUR DEVICE AND SEND IT IN QDL 9008. CARE WITH THIS KIND OF TOOLS. IT IS MODIFIED TO DO SO BECAUSE THIS WAY YOU DON'T NEED TO OPEN YOUR PHONE!
Step 1: Unplug your device and unplug battery.
Step 2: Be sure to have a working USB cable plugged at the back of the phone.
Step 3: Without battery hold Volume UP and Plug USB Cable.
Step 4: Plug Battery Back. Your PC will detect the device.
Step 5: Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/opt...eneral/unbrick-lg-l7-ii-single-dual-t3166282/ and download the KDZ flasher and LG Drivers and install them. (For KDZ install the msxml.msi).
Step 6: Open KDZ_FW_UPD.exe at Type: 3GQCT ; at Phone Mode: EMERGENCY. Download this file: Neutronic_Nuke.kdz and at KDZ File Select what you downloaded. Press Software Update and let it finish. After it is done Unplug USB and Battery. Your phone is now completely dead and in QDL 9008 when you plug USB. PROFIT.
Step 7: Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/opt...eneral/unbrick-lg-l7-ii-single-dual-t3166282/ and follow that tutorial (ignoring the parts that include opening the phone, closing it, motherboard stuff etc.) starting with 4. Flashing the MBR, EBR and the main bootloaders

That does not make any sense you didn't read. This happens only if you flashed P700 image. You can't be in bootloop with P700 image. This was tested and works as intended no doubt. I made this myself and tested on my own device. So there is no way it does not work as intended. You are not in the situation described that's why it does not work.

VS985 Stuck in Firmware Update Download Mode - Will not flash KDZ or TOT files

Hello,
I recently purchased a bricked Verizon LG G3 that had bad software and does not appear to have hardware damage.
When I first got it, it was able to enter fastboot mode, and I was able to use fastboot to flash IMG files and regain download mode. After flashing to 24B, the phone would become stuck on the "Andy the Android" splash screen with his wiggling ears, and would not proceed. Next, I tried flashing the 10B TOT file, and it was successful - however now the phone was stuck on the LG logo during bootup. I tried wiping data/cache, but it was unsuccessful.
When I power the phone on now it goes right to Firmware Update Download Mode. When I try flashing using the KDZ or TOT LG Flash Tool programs, they both get stuck on 1% and fail with "Unable to communicate with phone". The device appears to be hard bricked now and I am out of ideas.
Does anyone know what I could try to troubleshoot?
Thank you!
I should also mention that I entered QDLoader 9008 mode and pushed both the extracted KDZ and TOT files to the phone with BoardDiag, but it did not make any difference. I still have access to download mode.
U need to make sure u have right drivers... Did u chage the port settings to COM41 by going into device mangaer under ports see if u have lge device (or something like that) and then check its on COM41
I advise u to use 10B stock .. By tot method...
Here u can find right instructions.. Which i followed when i bricked it..
https://youtu.be/1WgXuxDbmbc
And stock 10B vs985 here...
http://lgg3root.com/lg-g3-stock-factory-firmware/
I have verizon vs985 lg g3 too.. Did all this.. And messaging from it
After stock u can use lgoneclickroot app for pc.. It will automatically root it. Just usb debugging enable.. Then flash new recory n go on to lollipop...
Try the most safe way bro
---------- Post added at 01:28 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:26 AM ----------
Also if u insist to use 24B for very first time.. U can try changing the USB cable.. Try appropriate one

I can understand the pain of having a bricked phone in hand...
Go through this guide.. It will b all good.. Hopefully

I'm trying to follow your steps since I had borked my phone after rooting 24b and installing twrp with autorec. My phone doesn't seem to want to be recognized by ADB anymore... I have installed the verizon drivers repeatedly to no avail. Any suggestions as to where to look to fix this?
U trying kdz or tot method?
---------- Post added at 10:34 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:31 AM ----------
Use the one tht guy used in provided vdo link..
Try winsows 7 pc.. Windows 8 or 8.1 or 10 will not work for this..
Do U see ur Phone at COM41 ??
Your recovery was actually conflicted with cell.. Bcz u download it bt autorec.. Thy dont give u enogh info.. Always use twrp manager in furure...
U had to install busybox before u flash recovery image...

Thanks for your reply. I tried flashing 10B using LG Flash Tool on two different PCs, using three different USB cables, and it always gets stuck when flashing Modem and then shows "Download FAIL!!" due to "Can't communicate with the Phone". The phone is detected correctly as LGE Mobile for VZW USB Serial Port (COM41). What can I do when LG Flash Tool will not flash? Thanks.

Don't loose hope mate..
U can take it to phone repairer.. They usually come with good solutions.. N it will not cost u more than a 6 to 7 bucks if you take it to market and explain wt it does..
I am pretty sure its all due to cable now..
As it says cant communicate..
For the very first time it did happen to me..
I wasnt using original cable tht came with cell.. I lost tht.. Luckily using the data cable of one of my old nokia phones, tht cable worked .
Keep trying cables..
If u have original that came with it.. Use it.. Or other.. If still same results.. Then market
Thanks for your advice, but I am the phone repairman I've fixed hundreds of LG devices in similar conditions in the past, but this one appears to be very bricked. I've tried 5 cables now, including the original LG cable that came with the device. Same error, fails at 1% progress when flashing Modem.

I live in a very rural area, and I am the only Android software repair shop in town. I agree, it is not hard bricked. No hardware issues were found, and I thoroughly inspected the device.

Hi I would uninstall all LG anything on your computer, download the driver from the LG site. Plug your phone in and get it into download mode. install the LG drivers with your phone plugged into the computer When they are done reboot and let the drivers install to your phone and then try KDZ again. Hope this helps. Good luck
Trying different USB ports and different PCs also can make the difference.

Was not my problem, just trying to help.
I'd say; with windows pc; download lg pc suite and lg mobile recovery tool (unsure of second name)
Install pc suite. When installed, instamm other tool. Use said tool (connected with usb in download mode, I think.) and it should restore the phone
Did it on my lg g3 s d722 after I removed the OS due to a faulty rom (couldn't find correct kdz so..)
Sent from my LG-D722 using XDA Free mobile app
No, I gave up on this device. It may have been fixable, but I was not able to do it.
You tried mobile support tool?

if you could that would be amazing. I am stuck in a locked bootloader and fastboot doesn't detect the phone (altough adb does) so I cannot unlock it.

yes.
I tried to flash supersu from twrp and since then I'm stuck in bootloader (couldn't unlock bootloader due to fastboot not seeing the phone). I still can get to recovery, but can't boot up the system.
Alcatel's Mobile Upgrade Q doesn't work for me either (tried on 2 different PC's).
I hope restoring clean non-rooted boot/system will help, if somebody can share the backup files.

Which Mobile Upgrade Q are you using? Try to use 5.0.3 version. Tried both on my 64bit Windows 10 and 7 for my 5051x Optus locked phone. But you need to manually put your phone to download mode (while your phone completely off, press all volume up + volume down + power), then plug in your phone, start the program and follow the prompt.
Had to reflash my phone numerous time, because supersu seems to brick the phone, while kingroot lost its root every reboot.

which driver do you have installed? (what shows up in device manager?) When the phone is in download mode, my PC doesn't detect it. after several seconds the phone exits download mode, and then gets detected, but it doesn't auto-install any driver, so I have to manually choose something.
Still, if someone could send me full backup from TWRP, I could try to restore it on the phone and get it working this way.
