Email app on hydrogen OS - OnePlus X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Waiting for my OPX to arrive. I hear the hydrogen OS has its own email app Inn addition to this. Coming from BlackBerry this email is the biggest gap for Android. None of th email app comes close to BlackBerry email!!
My question for this app - does it support iCloud and exchange emails? For iCloud , does it have push option?
Most of email apps on Android don't have the push option for iCloud. Cloud magic does, but they store the emails on their server which, I don't like.
Can name one check this on OPX please??

[Q] Syncing Subfolders with Exchange

Is there a way to view all mail combined in the Inbox (i.e. all email from subfolders and Inbox) in Exchange?
Also, I notice that new email sent to a subfolder does not trigger a notification?
This suggests that the stock email application in Touchwiz isn't synchronising the subfolders (except if one views the subfolder).
I can see a combined email folder in Touchdown but I would really like to use this stock app as the interface is very nice.
Any help would be appreciated.
Im also interessted in a Solution to this!
I gave up and went back to TouchDown.

Problem setting up iCloud account on Xperia

Since i bought this magnificent phone I am having problems with getting this work with my iCloud account. I can confirm that it is working through thunderbird, but now via stock Mail app. Any suggestions or just Apple is blocking Android?
You should look at the logcat, Java is usually quite verbose when it comes to exceptions. Might give you at least some idea where to look.
I've noticed that my iCloud email is running a lot slower on android over the past week. If I delete an email on the computer then open it p on the phone and sync I takes a while for it to actually update the email list. It still works and I get my mail and can send it just takes a lot longer than it used to.
iCloud email accounts (.mac and. .me) use dynamic mail stops. If you can pull the server settings from Mail.app you'll have better performance, not perfect, but generally speaking the account won't work with non-Apple apps.

Android E-Mail vs. GMail Apps

Am I the only person that hates the Gmail App from the market and would rather use the email app?
Right now I've got both a Samsung Galaxy Gio running CM7 and an LG Eclypse (aka MyTouch Q) running CM9 and for both of them I far prefer e-mail to gmail. Although they're very similar as far as the basic UI goes, I find that the gmail app has quite a few problems with attachments and images. Sometimes it will show me the text of an email for about 2 seconds and then go blank white. I have none of these problems with E-Mail.
I just want to see who else is like-minded on this... Thoughts? Comments?
I used to have the white display issues on both Gmail and Email.
I found that if I force closed the app and started it again, the problem disappeared.
I haven't had this problem again since moving to JB.

You'll love K9-Mail. It's based on the original Android email app.
I have to send attachments through my gmail app because my android mail has problems sending attachments via Microsoft Exhange Server....

I prefer android over gmail because I have gmail and yahoo email accounts, and would rather have a unified app.

GMail is a lot better. It groups all emails with same subject in 1 line. It's huge advantage
I like the android one, its a lot more simple. Gmail sometimes take forever to sync, I gave up on that thing a long time ago.

I've used K-9 Mail for almost as long as I've had Android devices and have not once looked back. Seriously, try it out if you haven't already.

Are you looking for a more robust mail app?

The stock Samsung email app is OK but robust it is not. If you want more consider AquaMail Pro. Free trial and a few bucks to own. Very good looking and powerful. Keep all of your email addresses in one spot.
I have no connection to the app other than I own and like it.
K9 mail real good opensource mail client.

i like the Sammy Email but +1 on free and robust
I agree Aquamail is quite nice IMO. Did not take long for me to get the pro version... For couple bucks it is well worth it.... Knowing also how much work is required to access exchange via ews the app is in fact cheap... Only complain is no sync with Outlook contact and calendar AFAIK.
Thanks for the heads up on this app that deserves it.
Cloudmagic is great too

blue mail it's the best.... ????
If I require mail, contact and calendar sync with 3 Exchange accounts what is the best non stock email app for me to try? I have been hating the inaccurate notification style of the stock Samsung email app
Nine is my email app of choice. Plus it shows the exchange calendar in the stock calendar app.

+1 for Nine. I have been looking for a good Exchange Email App and when I found Nine I knew I hit gold! It is by far the best Exchange Email app around... and I have tried many.

If MS Exchange compatibility is your prioirity you cant beat Touchdown. It is not free however. But you can get a free trial to try it out. For me its well worth the price.
Yes, Cloudmagic. I just went through and tried most of them, and Cloudmagic I've been using for about a week. Aquamail did look good, I just didn't have the time to go through and learn all the functionalities of it. I'll probably give it another try once I'm able to spend more time learning it.

But Gmail doesn't have push notifications
Is it only the included mailapp (and calendar) from Samsung that works with the tab after papergarden? I assume you know what I'm talking about, no? On videos from YouTube I believe the widgets covering the calendar and mail widgets are yellow and green.
If third party mail/calendar apps doesn't work together with said widgets, isn't it better to stick with the stock apps?
No way.. Blue mail is the one. They will repond quickly also if you send in ab issue. Plus its works constantly for push on mulitple accounts. Stock for some reason goes to sleep and emails come in up to 1 hour late. I thought google would have fixed the isue from note 3. Not every since they stopped supporting exchange mail settings 2 years ago.
who runs blue mail? There no info who they are?
I like mailbox, perfect for me.
type mail
It's fairly new but I love it I think it's better than aquamail pro, I have them both downloaded but I think Type Mail is alot faster. Did I mention completely free.

For me,Blue Mail is best Mail app for persons with multiple accounts.
Trimis de pe al meu SM-G965F folosind Tapatalk
Microsoft Outlook , its free and you can have multiple accounts and also your contacts , calendar and tasks are synced. I think since few months they now also have unread badge counts that's what I wanted after they put that function into Outlook app I made it my main email app and deleted all others
Newton mail if you use email on many platforms
Blue mail
I use blackberry hub
If you care anything about privacy, stay VERY far away from BlueMail/TypeApp (same apps), Newton, etc. They route your email through their servers, and will continue to do so even after you uninstall the app. You have to change your password to get it to stop.
I personally stick with Nine, Maildroid or Outlook. Nine is my email app of choice, though.
Give stock e-mail a try before you use another one. If you change to another theme, the email app will follow the chosen theme.
Google Inbox
I use Nine for work email.
Nine is best ..
AquaMail
But to round up this thread, there is no such thing as a best email app. Every app has it's good and bad and every user picks what suits him best.
