LG AirDrive and Linux - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone had any luck using the LG AirDrive feature from Linux?
I know I can use it from Windows but I'd really like to take a stab at writing some sort of script to randomly change out the music files on my SD card.
Thanks!

Have you tried kdeconnect? It looks like aidrive works in the same way as this plus it has a lot more features and does not require you to sign in to LG to use it.

song(mp3) renaming

Does anyone know a way I can change the artist name and album names on my songs sooooo that they show up in the right spots?
I have songs that I got from download sites and just want to make them all show up under the correct artist.
I will try to explain better if that was confusing.
Any ideas?
Even if I have to hook up toa computer what program would I use to rename them?
You probably just need to edit their tags. There are various free mp3 tag editors that you can use in Windows. Also, a lot of media players have built in support for it. I don't know which one to tell you to use but I use Media Monkey. WinAmp may have the ability to do it too, I don't really know as I haven't used it for years.
Also, if you are using Windows 7, you can just right click on the file>properties, click the details tab and edit them there. You can do more than one at a time this way by clicking on the first file you want so it's highlighted, then, while holding the shift key, click on the last one you want. The first, last and everything in between will become highlighted. Then just right click on one of them and choose properties, then details. Edit it and the changes should be applied to all of those that you selected.
Perhaps XP has the same ability. I don't really remember as it's been a while since I've used it. I can fire up a VM and check it out though if you'd like. Or, if you have XP, just have a look and see for yourself.

Thanks bro
I'm gonna try media monkey later.
I had tried to do what you mentioned , couple nights ago, but I could only edit song name with that method. No other details could be changed.
And I am using a laptop (borrowed) that has Vista lol
I'll try those programs you mentioned when I get home from movies tonight...thanks again
Edit......If anyone knows a way I can do it directly from my phone let me know please
I did a search for mp3 tag editor in the market and there's a lot of them available. I have no idea which one would be the one to use though. I've never used one on Android so I don't know if it's a one song at a time thing or of you can find one that supports batch editing. You might have a look. Maybe there's something there you can use.
As for Vista, well, I'm surprised you can't do the same as in Win 7. You're probably right though. The only experience I have with Vista is when I ran the beta MS released and when I've worked on other peoples computers. Didn't like the beta so I didn't really explore it all that much. Went straight from XP to Win 7.
I have used a program called iTag from the market before to edit individual songs. It works fine if you only have a few songs here or there that you want to edit.
I haven't really found anything worth the time if I have to do a lot of editing though. If you have 20+ songs, it is easier to use something like Media Monkey.

Quick Remote from G2

I've never had a G2, but I understand the Quick Remote app from the G2 has quite a few more device options.
Has anyone tried installing the G2 Quick Remote app on the G3? Anyone have any idea if it'll work at all?
I'm planning to grab the apk out of a ROM or LG App Pack from the G2 forums and see if I can install it (if that doesn't work maybe convert it to a user app with rom toolbox?).
Please let us know how this works out! This has been bugging me ever since I switched to the G3. The G2 remote had the ability to learn a device without the remote being available. I was able to operate projectors and such just by pointing and testing. No remote needed! Now its' just TV, Cable box, and Audio...nothing for DVDs, projectors, etc....

I have both the G2 and G3, and both can learn remotes just as you described. You just select customizable remote when adding a remote.
EDIT: Nevermind, I see what you mean now. There are a lot less options in the new app for some reason.

NP... Yah, if you have the remote it can learn it but the G2 could try and learn a lot more devices without the remote being available. I called LG and they said that the Quick Remote application is different for every device. This seems like a step down in my opinion for an upgraded device. Hopefully someone can figure out how to port the G2 Quick Remote to G3!
I did pull the Quick Remote app from a custom G2 ROM and it did not work. Nothing but force close. That was expected, but worth a try anyway!
I too wound up creating a custom layout and learning my existing remotes. The first time I tried this I didn't see all the button options and thought it was really limited, but now that I've dug into it, I copied the layout of my existing remotes and used the learning feature and it's working just fine for me.
Yes I have done the samething. I now am able to control my entire multimedia rack with my phone. Took some time to setup, but works great.
Sent from my VS985 4G using XDA Free mobile app
I have a Sony BluRay player and i lost the remote. how can i set up my quick remote on my G3 if i dont have the original remote?
My G2 had the option for DVD BluRay and many more.
I would recommend the app called "SURE" it's free on the play store and I must say , IT'S AWESOME . Very Quick to set up and works like a charm on my vs985 , I don't even use the quick remote app anymore, this one has a lot more functions , heck even my air conditioner works with it

[Q] Edit Where A App Looks For Media Files

Hello World. Yeah I started it there. I am still getting back up to speed on programming been out of the game for a long time Colbalt is where I started. Worked with some AS400's and some linix, unix boxes. I just need some guidance on where to start looking in the code. Already know how to root, decompile, and change some simple settings in an apk, but would like just a slight nudge in the right direction. I am currently wanting to edit where a particular apk "LG Stock Video player" looks for media files ie folder location on a device. I have a LG G2 Rooted on Kit Kat 4.4.2. I want to be able to have it look in the default file as well as an external USB connected via OTG cable. Where would be a good place to start looking in the decompiled code to edit this. Any help would be much appreciated. This is not for distribution just a fun little side project. If this seems a little too advanced please let me know and I will wait a few months till I get more versed in android style of code. Thanks for any and all help.

Using a built-in physical keyboard for apps

Hi! I have a LG Exalt 4 (LGVN220), It's a 4G Flip phone running off of android. Officially it doesn't allow you to install apps unless it's signed by LG, but if you rename the package to com.android.cts."packagename" it allows it to install. The problem is when you try to use the app it doesn't either detect or allow you to use the regular physical keyboard, does anyone know how you can change the code (maybe in the android manifest...) so that it uses the physical keypad and not touchscreen (since the flip phone doesntn't have a touchscreen, only a keypad)?
hi i was thinking about buying this phone for my dad and would like to install apps. did you have any success with this?
Not going to work.
notice not all apps have this prob. mostly apps built on cross platform engine like xamarin etc have this prob, but if app was developed in android studio it definitely works . unfortunately, your only way around this is to rewrite the app in android specific ide... good luck

Does anyone have LG cliptray packaged up?

I'm moving from my V30 unfortunately and one thing I'm really missing is LG's cliptray feature. I've spent a long time browsing the filesystem on the V30 to try to find where it's located but haven't had much luck.. So far I've found the cache for things stored in it, the 'permissions' xml for it (and know that the package is named com.lge.software.cliptray but... I am not finding that *anywhere*. Would also be curious to know if it's even possible to port to a non-LG (but rooted) phone.
Thanks!
I used the Cliptray when my V30 mas my operational phone. I have moved onto a Pixel 4a5G and was looking for same function. If you use the Google Keyboard (Gboard) you can turn on the "Clipboard" which lets you save text you have copied (optionally for a period of time) and also allows you to "pin" favourite clips.
Yeah I use Swiftkey which also has something of a clipboard but I find it lacking compared to LGs...

LG Cliptray realized by proprietary LG System Server service/application. U cannot copy any data from it.
