you really can't make anyone pay. mods can ban them, but i mean, what are you going to do? no bounty gets paid 100%

If "making it work" includes rooting the phone (or anything similar) then I'd have to opt out for real. I've stop being a fan of rooting since my Galaxy S3 (tried root on it & were very unstable); I just really want to stick with stock rom and still get the feature to work (which is kind of impossible). Wish that Google made the 6P dual-sim at the start though.

Good point, we should definitely have some rules around what "works" is.
I personally would prefer a non-root option, but I highly doubt that would be the case. Plus, if it did require root (but not much else), I probably would feel its worth doing.

There were already folks trying to not get too "deep" into root to make it work (simple editing of build.prop, flashing small zips or even flashing custom roms, etc.) but still no luck I'm guessing it's gonna be "heavy" on rooting, which is really not my type since I'm already enjoying my stock right now So yeah I'm gonna opt out of the bounty, however I still want to see if someone can actually make this work Good luck! :good:

Please count me in for $50. I might even root the phone if it saves me the hassle of carrying two phones when overseas.
I will kick in $100 if the method works on an unrooted stock 6P.

Count me in for $20

Count me in for $50 if it will works flawless ... root or not root.

Count me in for $50, root or unroot. I would buy the 6P in an instant if I could dual SIM on it. Would love to have my work phone and personal phone be on the same device.
Thanks!

I think there is a misunderstanding of how root is done on a Nexus device vs some others.
There doesn't need to be an exploit and patch on a Nexus device.
Rooting only means you can have administrative privileges on your device.
If you never use the elevated access nothing happens.

I'll give $100

i haven't been by an actual computer in a while.. i'll update this over the weekend.

Pledge for rooting official ICS ($405+)

Hi guys,
Since many of us updated to the official unrooted ICS & many of those are waiting impatiently, let us start encouraging developers to root our Sony Tablet S.
In this post I'll collect the pledges:
1.SudaDreamS, $20
2. el0heem, $10
3. doc_haz, $5
4. hogaburger, $10
5. Johny1fin, $5
6. Vedrick, $40
7. magick86, $10
8. robber, $25
9. docfreed, $20
10. stifilz, $10
11. sensemilla, €25=$30
12. papacarla, $5
13. dingochutney, $20
14. tasar, $50
15. gordo79, $40
16. pol18, $20
17. Danzdroid, $40
18. vonManstein, $25
19. lgbaixauli, $20
Well since half of the people who pledged money for rooting HC never paid up,I don't think developers are gonna be too encouraged to try rooting ICS.
Well, i would pay for the Rooting and for the Support but for now i don't see any results or some light in the end of the Tunel for rooting ICS.
So if one of the devs can say we are on it and try many thinks and tell in a thread whats going on, so many users i think would pay some cash for the devs.
I picked one of the Sony S' up at the Sony store and I really like it so I am going to see what the current state of development is and see where I can contribute.
I would contribute but I think I would prefer to see the bootloader unlocked first. I know there must be some devs working on it somewhere.

This tab is awesome even as-is. It can be nicely tweaked using alternative launchers, disabling or removing some bloat (really not a lot of bloat installed) and some 3rd party apps - root can only make it better.
Well. I did'nt sign the first time. Never too late i say.

I will go with a $30 for the moment.
Thanks, hopefully someone will pick up the project..
I'd do $25, then another $25 upon completion. Problem Is we would need to raise enough money for whichever Developer to buy a Jetstream to build with.
i know. i'm hoping one of the dev's already owning the jetstream (i think there's one or two other than task650) will keep it up..
if not - maybe we could get enough money to buy one..they are cheaper than they used to be

I brought it up to Newtoroot from mikmik, he said for it to be done he'd need the device. He's done amazing work over the years, recently he recoded the ril from the one x to bring sense 4 ICS for the the reZound.
i think there's an opportunity here.
if we could get enough money, and one of the members here would like to sell his device, maybe we can buy a device for development.
meanwhile we must wait for the bounty to grow..

Yes. Agreed. Please guys pool in. Even if we don't get a member to sell the device, I think a new one would be like $550 or something with contract. Let's see. Hopefully Russ's contact also comes through. He will post details himself once any news available.

I would consider selling mine at a discount to a developer or trade for a thinkpad. Otherwise I would be willing to contribute to the bounty. IDK, it depends if anyone really thinks they can do it, but I've lost faith in HTC and hope in XDA.
They are selling refurbs outright for 350 on atts site right now

I've got a little bit of experience with compiling Cyanogen. Work is crazy-busy for me lately, so I'm not sure when I'll have time to work on it, but I will do whatever I can to get this working.
I'm not much of a developer, so any help I can get will be appreciated. We'll need to look for other devices already running ICS that have similar hardware.
Like I said, work's crazy busy, so right now I don't have much time to hunt for this info.
However, I may be able to use the HP Touchpad (which I also have, running CM9) as a starting point. The Jetstream has a Qualcomm MSM8260 CPU, where the TP is using a MSM8060. They're similar, yet obviously not identical CPUs.
We'll also need to figure out the other hardware, like what display, touchscreen, wifi, etc. hardware the Jetstream is using.
With any luck, we'll get something. It sucks that Honeycomb is closed source. That'll make things a little bit harder. At least the kernel's open source still.
I'm going to post this over in the Dev section, for anyone who wants to help with data mining.
Oh, and I don't want the bounty. Just getting ICS on this device would be enough reward for me.

Doubtful. Like I said, I'm not a super-dev or anything, and things like bypassing/decrypting security are beyond me.
There's a couple people over in the Development forum who are buzzing about this. Apparently there *may* be an HTC dev willing to help out, if I understood correctly.
Let's push this!
this needs to get more attention. Otherwise it's just going to die off, I think for a developer to be truly interested we need more then $300, because building ICS for this device won't be easy. I know task has tried before and he said that he could not get it to work but I'm not sure how much time he had to play around with it since his daughter is sick. Maybe we can reach out to some tech media like Engadet, Boy Genius Report, or Tom's Hardware or even contact XDA and see if they can make a post about this on the portal homepage and really it this idea put there. I'm pretty sure that the jetstream has a bigger community then this just they might not know about xda...
its a matter of time, mainly.
this forum was never alive for more than a few days in a row..
people doesnt come here to often. we need to try and wait, and keep the posts going.
also - if someone feels the sums are too high, any contribution will count! even 5-10 dollars from a few people could make a change.
in the event of this not working, try signing my petition here, http://www.thepetitionsite.com/480/...ew-jetstream-jetstream-4g-android-40-upgrade/
What is the most insulting about the whole process is that HTC is discontinuing support (which is the only way to describe not updating software even a few months after release) and still insistent on keeping the device locked down for "user experience". I mean they could almost get XDA devs to do the support for free if they weren't so possessive about the device after the POS. Fingers crossed on that contact pulling through.

Team Supernova Fundraiser

Hi, as you have maybe seen in the team supersonva thread, we have managed (mostly tdmcode, oisis and fromnowon for the way to get it boot) to port ICS over for 4.0 . For helping oisis to develop for our devices, he needs to have a device (pretty obvious no? :silly so I tought to donate money and buy a device to him.
Current donators with value:
Zaclimon: $35
Obsuresword: $25
Oisis: $13
Daniel644:$5
Ijimaniac: $30
GoldFlame09: $25
Also I need some suggestions like
Which device to buy (Intl or US)
Where to buy it (very cheap, maybe ebay)
If you have more ideas please post them below.
Current money we have/need: $108/$105
Here's the donation link in case you want to make a donation:
Finished!!
And Thanks to the people who donated . It's very appreciated.
Amazin.co,
I think it would be great to get a international device (I have a US) because noisyfox has a patch, right? You could get a lightly used or refurb from Amazon ($120-$150). Even thought I'm a 5.0 user, it's cool reading how you guys managed to get CM9 and hopefully the kernel on the 4.0. The 5.0 forum is probably already dead, and gmillz has probably already abandoned his work.
The cheapest player 4.0 I could find is on eBay for $134.99 http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=261048525557&index=0&nav=SEARCH&nid=60611713735

the noisyfox's patch is for 5.0 only. Also the 4.0 has a kind of system that detect the type of the device. Also be sure that the device can be sent in europe because that's where he lives.

NVM what I said earlier. It seems that I will use an agent who will buy the thing for me and they do accept paypal.
EDIT: it seems that we would need at least $120-130 to buy the device (all included)
I know I said I would, but can you make the account (brand new one) for the fundraiser. I didn't know how much info it wanted, and the last thing I need right now is my parents ticked off at me for making a paypal account .
I guess if you wanted I could talk to them about it (especially since they want me to create my own so that I can "make money" off of what I am doing ), but that would be a LOT more work convincing them (possibly).

Hmm, I suppose that we can use yours, if it will make it easier. I will link to your account in the ICS thread if you put a donation link up. Also, I suggest we donate an INTL device (as they are easier to dev on because of the home button issue). Perhaps someone looking to get rid of their SGP would be willing to donate their device for maybe 80-90 dollars, making it a lot easier for both parties.

Ok so this may be a little bump I know but I add the money we have and the total we need. This don't include the internationnal shipping because my donation will be the EMS express shipping to poland. It's basically for the value of the device.

[Q] Asurion still stocking?

My X2 is having some issues that I have just been putting up with, but I was thinking about using my insurance on it. I would really rather try to wait until they don't stock X2's anymore though so I can get a different model. Has anyone had to get a replacement lately or know if they're still stocking them? I saw that a few users received a Nexus or Rezound as a replacement back in September . However I tried on November 25th and they were back in stock. Just curious, I couldn't bring myself to pay a $100 for another X2.
Thanks
I'm not real sure if "using my insurance" is something you really wanna post up lol. If you are gonna have to pay $100 for your deductable and it not be what you really want, why not save up an extra $100 to add to it and buy a good used device? Also avoid any kind of mischief that may come about.

Haha, well no shadiness implied, sorry if it came across that way. My screen is messed up and I've kind of been holding out in hopes of them running out of stock. I thought about just getting a used phone but then I thought it might be smart to keep my insurance going. I figured there isn't much difference if I pay them the $100 now or in a few months when I could maybe get a different device. Does that sound shady? I'm really not a shady guy hah.
I agree with tallyforeman. A used Galaxy Nexus online for less than 200 bucks is what I am going to do.

I should've used the term "file a claim" rather than "using my insurance". But anyways, I have almost bought multiple used phones but I'm always just worried I'll get it and something will malfunction with the device and I'll have to go buy another used one. I guess my X2 has kind of soured me on the idea of getting a used phone. I've had to have Verizon replace 4 of them due to the audio jack malfunctioning which caused the phone to act completely sporadic. I may end up with a used device in the long run just so I can keep my unlimited.
I'm picking up what you are putting down. Its not really the expressions "file a claim" or "using my insurance" but more of the "act" of using those options deliberately haha. Don't be so skeptic on a used device. Do your homework. You'll be fine.

Great freebies from Samsung in singapore for NP12

I learned yesterday that buyers of the Note Pro 12 in Singapore are getting free with their purchase the NEW Samsung BT s mouse, BT keyboard and samsung case. For me here in the US those accesories will cost at leastv $160 above and beyond theb $700 plus tax I paid at BESTBUy. Of the perks I did get, the only worthwhile one was the $25 playstore certificate and I guess the $25 hub, which I could care less about. Since samsung is marketing this tab as a business and laptop replacement tab, a keyboard, mouse and cover SHOULD be included. We should all complain to Samsung. This is class actionable. Agreed?

lol just what we need.
What's that supposed to mean--"just what we need?" Don't you think it's unfair that US customers are being screwed out of such perks. btw, I didn't mean an ACTUAL lawsuit. I meant everyone should complain to Samsung who think it's unfair. Apparently you dont.

Interesting perspective that we're somehow being screwed because Samsung has come to the conclusion that they have to provide that deep of a local incentive package to help drive sales. There is an inherent flaw in thinking that pricing and promotional offers are somehow globally equitable. I would have been happy if they would have at least had the book cover available here at the time and location of purchase, let alone actually providing it.

Well they probably didn't have the cover when you wanted it because dude they are giving them all away in singapore. Just like there are no s mice or new keyboards here.
Let's not forget the Note costs considerably more in other countries. Higher incentives have to be given to justify a cost of 1,000.

Just an FYI,
What makes you think that it's "Samsung" that is the donator / sole contributor of those mice and keyboards etc.?
Developers don't need no stinkin' signature!
If I've been able to help you, please hit the "Thanks" button.
Who else would it be? Samsung authorized is doing it. Why so defensive. Everyone here who shelled out BIG bucks for this tab shud be pissed they are not getting a free mouse, keyboard and cover. I know I am.

not sure if i understand. Isnt the price alot more for the tablet there. So pay more and get the accessary bundle or pay what i did here without it. Easy decision for me. I actually like picking my own accessories rather than them picking them for me. but this is JMO.

Sure, you go find the lawyer and get back to us when your case is ready for participants. Who says the American courts are full of frivolous cases!
I didn't actually mean a LEGAL action, mr. Rolls-HIS-EYES, I just meant by action that people should call 800-samsung and say "where's my $160 worth of free hardware that's being given free in singapore?' Because now I gotta go buy IN ADDITION to the $700 plus it cost me to get into this game a keyboard mouse and cover (if I choose samsung) to use it as a business tablet as samsung is promoting it. So do you have a problem with that? No court action.

I got the playstore credit, but what is the $25 hub? I have not gotten that at all. Can someone point me to where I can get that?
I think I read about this before I got the 12.2 but I looked around for it and could not find it (I got the playstore credit, was able to instal hancon, got the evernote and dropbox promos, but I can't find any $25 credit on samsung). Thank you very much for your help.
