Hi xda. Can anyone tell me the best s3 rom ? I tryed note 4 , 5 roms but they are laggy. They lag often. Can you please tell me a good rom without lags and with few ram consumption and best performance?
Try Archidroid 3.0.2 (KK) with archikernel.
Try Liquid Smooth KK rom with boeffla kernel
Go for cm13+boeffla. It gets a bit laggy at menus but pretty fast at most games, even Modern Combat 5 works flawlessly. But my combination right now is:
RR ROM (Marshmallow)+670MB Z-RAM+ MAX ENTROPY+ GREENIFY that also helps stop those RAM hoggers.
It gives me an gaming experience like no other with 450MB+ free RAM at best times.
Ram is always filled by android. Task managers slow your device down by closing apps that android wants open. Greenify and the likes are a waste of cpu and storage. They do NOTHING. (before you say they do work, prove it).
Anyway, stock roms are the smoothest roms because they are tweaked by the carrier/mfg for best performance vs longevity. All customs roms will have bugs or give random reboots caused by oom errors.

Hey guys
This question is mainly aimed at gaming freaks who have also switched to custom roms.
Just wanna know how is the gaming performance (generally 3d games) on various roms like Resurrection remix, ics slim ,cm9, miui etc..
I saw in various threads that many 3d games lag more on such roms (at stock cpu/gpu settings)? Is it true? Coz if it is, then this is totally a deal buster for me..i was excited to flash RR but if games are lagging...there wont be any use of improved system performance lol on a custom rom
anyway guys do let me know the gaming problems with any of the popular roms..so i can make up my mind and finally flash a custom rom..
thanks

i am on latest version of ressurection remix and i fell no such problem.i use no tweaking like overclocking etc...{i hate all these things}}
Cm9/aokp I get the best graphics performance. I actually under clock my CPU for a longer battery life... and its just still as good if not better than stock.

Games like Dead trigger, NOVA 3, shadowgun, Modern Combat 3 - lots of framerate issues on ICS custom rom. I never had issues on GB and never stayed on samsung ICS long enough to find out what that was like. Mundane tasks showed that it sucked balls, so I seriously doubt that it would be any different with intensive tasks like gaming.
I'd venture a guess that CM9 kernel is probably better than the majority of ICS kernels. My experience is that it just works alot better in general - other kernels have a lot of bells and wistles but other than some cool novelty feature, really aren't very different from each other. CM9's kernel really stands out for me. I have however heard good things about Fluxi kernel. I made the switch but it was much worse unfortunately others may have a different experience though.
The lag spikes seem to be random aswell, so I have my doubts any overclocking would help. If it happened in sequences with big open fields and lots of enemies on screen I'd understand, but when you are in a small corrider with no-one around, I can't think of why it should do it then. Not to mention it was seemless on stock GB (actually Villian ROM 3.0 and Redpill kernel).
But I've got CM9 running exactly how I want it and its stock CM9 kernel is actually pretty good, the games are good to play on it, but you do get annoying lag spikes somewhat frequently.
I have been running Sense on my Rezound since the day the phone launched. I've tried a couple different ROMs but have always gone back to the stock ROM and then removed all the bloat apps, and been very happy with the performance and stability on my phone.
Recently I updated to ICS and the most recent firmware (I was on GB this whole time), and battery life had been sucking pretty bad, so I decided to try a custom kernel. I flashed FunkyKernel 3.7, and, while it didn't do much to help battery life (even with underclocking and undervolting), it did GREATLY improve performance, especially gaming performance.
But, battery life was still MUCH worse than it had been on GB, so I decided to try CM 10.1 and see if a vanilla ROM would fare better. Flashed CM 10.1 and the ROM ran fine, but my graphics performance took a HUGE hit. I've been playing a lot of Sonic the Hedgehog lately (the Android port of the original), and on ICS sense it ran a buttery smooth 60 fps. On CM 10 I'm getting like 15-20 fps. Fired up Quadrant and saw the same results on the graphics tests there. I tried flashing FunkyBean 3.7, and playing with the clock speed and governor settings, but no dice. I enabled "force GPU on 2d" and no dice. I tried suggestions from the CM thread, no dice. Loaded up Shadowgun, and it also ran very poorly, compared to playing on the Sense ROM... very choppy
Has anyone else noticed this? I expected CM to FLY compared to Sense. The home screen and most apps were just fine, no choppiness, no lag that I could really see, only the games really showed any loss of performance. Did I do something wrong? Is it an issue with the drivers?
Cm 10.1 ROMs have a 50/50 gaming performance. Some games are smooth some are not
Now if you want CyanogenMod and great battery life and performance all around than you want a cm9 ROM. I only left cm9 for the new features if cm10.1
So if you use cm10.1 you may need to try different games. But cm9 is perfect but you give up cm10.1 features
Maybe in the future gaming will get fixed. Maybe when ion starts rolling out but who knows..

Ok, at least now I know it's not just my phone or me screwing something up. thank you.
Yup, just try CM9.
Hi guys, I'm searching for a rom which works great with games, any ideas?
No one is going to answer you because of the rules. I'm trying to find it to for the last six months. In my opinion is best if you have some knowledge if you don't you will have to read for a while, to use you latest stock rom. But you will have to deodex it, zipallighn it, apply the modes you like from other rom if there are some and remove the bloatwear not all just the one that is safe to remove and you don't need. And perhaps replace touchwiz with nova launcher. It's just that here are very sensitive on questions about best rom. For the past six months I've downloaded a lot of roms and after a while having problems with all of them- here I mean problems with playing games. And till now the best experience I had was with stock rom but then I was missing some futures, mods from others. So only solution as I don't wanna search for another 6 monts is make my own. By the way the qiestion is not which is the best rom but which is the best for games or in other words on which rom I'll have no or less problems but stil for here is like you ask which is the best.
So make your own rom deodex and zipallighn for speed, remove the app you don't need because most of the bloatwear has running processes all the time so you can have more free ram and then if you want some extra mods.
I hope this is helpful although it mean you have a lot to read if you are new at that.
As previously stated, stock roms are the best all rounders and in my opinion much better than custom roms hands down.
As soon as you root a samsung you can expect performance issues. Had the same problem on all 3 samsung devices I've owned. This led me to not touch my htc m9 at all as far as mods go..
I wish I stole my HTC M9.

Thanks for an answer.
I've used a lot of roms too, I've been changing them every week and I'm really enjoying ArchiDroid with android 5.1.1. I'm definitely going to try installing latest stock and doing what you told me to, I never liked stocks though.

I can't live without root, I'm using a lot of tweaks and rooted apps. Stock roms were always laggy and slow for me, maybe I just can't use them properly.
Stock ROMs are laggy on legacy devices.
New devices works perfectly good on Stock ROMs. This is why they have lesser Custom ROMs and older devices still has some ongoing developments.
I've never had any performance issue after rooting my Sonys and Samsungs. I always had better performance and recommend custom ROMs because they work better for me. Please bear in mind that my latest device is the S3 which has 1GB RAM while other new phones are going 4GB so my opinion only stops here : On old devices. On new devices , I've played with my friends Note 3 alot and we reached a conclusion that it works flawless even on Stock ROM.
For a gaming ROM , I would suggest ArchiDroid if you are going CM. Latest Archidroid Lollipop works flawlessly for me (Even while using Chrome with 11 Tabs. No lags and reloads while switching tabs). Runs NFS:Most Wanted , Cyrus and alot other major games that I've tested run on full FPS without a single lag. However , Hearthstone will never work good on S3 even on this magnificent ROM. Go for Archidroid for both KitKat and Lollipop if you want Performance. Go for Temasek (Darkened's build) if you want balanced Performance , customization and slightly better Battery life. Other ROMs work too , they may have more customization (Blisspop) etc but I did not list them because they are too heavy for a Gaming ROM In my opinion. AOKP KitKat is also a fair choice to go for.
For Touchwiz Based ROMs, I would say LukeROM. Install without Bloat and enjoy a smooth ROM even on stock kernel and no Greenify. NFS:Most Wanted , Cytus and other major games that I've tested also runs on full FPS without lag. It also has stock Camera and Note 4 Multiwindow that allow floating app like Messenger Chat Head. However , Chrome makes this ROM die on stock kernel. 4 or 5 tabs and it starts reloading when switching tabs. NeatROM Lite is also a good choice if you're fine with Android 4.3 and a Bluetooth Bug where NFC gets turn on too when you connect to a Bluetooth device. (Might be device specific bug since I don't see a lot of comments about that bug). Blekota's S5 Lite ROM with Boeffla kernel and Speed Mod also works flawless. Check my post on that thread for tutorial.(Posted few months back)
These are my personal experience with various ROMs for I9300. I've flashed almost every ROM that came to XDA and a few other Chinese forums since January 2014 and these are my conclusions. Please bear in mind that the same ROM might perform differently for different users with different usage and settings. Have a nice day
@conanDO98 Thanks for an answer, you just put everything in a whole new light to me. I'm on Luke's rom for like an hour now, it works great. But i do have a question, you said "no greenify", may I ask why? I always thought it's good for performance.
I have 550 free ram running cm 12(gaaps pico installed)now looking for a custom kernel to overclock...can u sugest me one?
@nolitooo When I was on cm12 I was using an ArchiKernel, it worked great. There's always boeffla kernel, with boeffla config app, try them both and pick your best

I'm sorry. By no greenify I mean I did not install Greenify on that ROM.
I suggest flashing Boeffla 7.9 on Luke ROM because after flashing I find the ROM smoother and Chrome works better
@conanDO98 I'm gonna flash it now and see how it works
I've tried archdroid it's not that it wasn't good just searching for better. I play a lot call of duty heroes which is laggy with all the roms i've tried so far but with most of them after a few days the game starts to crash, to close by itself but I don't need a rom that I need to restart every few hours or every day.
I'll try Luke Rom in a few days and will see if it's better. I guess that part of the problem is that most of the time I have installed around 80 apps by me. Some games, for alarm, calculator, apps like facebook, line, soundhound, xposed with some mods and others.
About the kernel I like boeffla with his options but for some reason I have less apps closing by itself with stock.

I think stock roms are better for gaming, I play a lot of games, I was using cm12.1 and archidroid for few months and gaming was nice, but not what I was looking for. Now I'm on Luke ROM with boeffla 7.9 and gaming is so much better then on lollipop. I haven't played CoD Heroes though.
I did try the Luke rom but after a few days had some problems with some games, back on stock and all perfect. Now just have to download some tools and have free time and will deodex and zipaligh it. And some other mods if I find some good.

What's a good rom to play garena free on galaxy s3 T mobile (d2tmo)?
Does having a third-party launcher really have an advantage over a stock one in terms of performance?
I've just installed Hola-launcher which boasts being faster alongside looking great [ricing]. Does the general forum agree that overall performance can be performed up with simply additions such as this? if so, what else could be done , app installation wise, to improve speed which I should know about? I'm primarily interested in having a high performing phone.
try AICP or XenonHD
if you have an unlocked bootloader a custom rom and kernel is what's gona give you performance
I bought my xperia sp last week and didn't want to unlock the BL so tryed to squeez more performance out of the stock 4.3 rom
I initialy instaled nova launcher and other apps (CM cleaner , ram manager, xposed) with root of course ,i felt more performance but battery life became worst (more load on the CPU)
then i decided to unlock the BL and instaled Xenon HD (no kernel needed ,the one included rocks) then i knew what performance is.
so i would sugest upgrading to custom ROMs and DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK
@taha1994 what is wrong with you? (about the text)
anyway Nova is great launcher. I use it mainly because of the gestures. But as I just remembered, there are gestures in my rom, so I probably try to play with stock launcher to see if gives similar results.
Hi,
I own a Redmi Note 3 pro Snapdragon (KENZO) (2GB RAM version) from 2 years ago. At the start I didn't need to use any custom ROM because the phone was fast enough to play games and use every app without lag problems, but on the last 7/8 months, my phone started to feel laggy when I watch some videos on Chrome or Facebook, or when I open webpages with many ads (I use Adaway and Adfree already).
The thing is, lately not only feels laggy, but it closes the app when I demand more resources to my phone, which didn't happen months ago, and I need to try open it again and search the content praying for not beging closed again, it makes me really upset. Right now I'm using Liquid Remix ROM, but I have tried 3 or 4 more ROMs before this one, and I have never found one that fits the low resources my phone has.
I think the problem is the RAM, because with every app in background closed, I don't reach the 400MB free of RAM, so I can't even play games without lag.
I would appreciate if you expert guys tell me about a ROM which has this aspect very developed, I know that there are not better ROMs than another, every ROM has its huge work behind and I don't pretend to infravalorate the work of any of them, but I really need a ROM which consume low recurses for working on idle, so I can use my phone without having this special problem.
Could you please help me?
I know Citrus-CAF was one of the best options for 2GB kenzo, but it hasn't been updated in like half a year, and it's still Android N, but if you have no luck with other ROMs might as well try that.
I have been using Nitrogen OS 8.1 for a couple of months now and I can say that it is worth flashing. The UI is buttery smooth, performance is decent (PUBG feels heavy though) and battery life is good.
I'll try NitrogenOS right now, I know that ROM is famous and I've never tried it for a long time. Thanks for your help brothers
Even I face the problem with Redmi Note 3 16gb rom

Just look at this SS
For all the Kenzo 2gb ram users please read this. Who want stable miui 10 i suggest you install Official miui 10 8.8.16 developers ROM it's the best Miui ROM I have ever used so far .it's smooth and it's ram management is also awesome and with all the normal apps installed such as Facebook whatsapp and all. I can easily switch between 5-6 apps which is awesome for a Miui ROM.
I too was so much frustrated from changing ROM coz all Custom roms didn't have the look and customisation such as in Miui, but due to my 2gb ram almost every miui ROM was unstable for me.
After installing the ROM everything is in stock moreover.i haven't even rooted my phone then also I got upto 5:30 hrs Screen on time with 20% left my usage was full time 4G .I feel so blessed I found this ROM now I can have the awesome look of Miui along with full stability and ram management, I'm a regular XDA visitor but I never comment or reply , but for all the 2gb kenzo users this might be very helpfull.Sorry for my English if I spelled something wrong.
In sort Features of this ROM which I liked very much are
1) Best ram management ever I got on a Miui ROM (especially for 2gb ram user)
2) Very good Battery life ( Easily can reach upto 6hrs Sot with 4g , it's more than enough for my 2yrs old Kenzo)
3) Almost full stable even though it's a Developer ROM ( I didn't faced any issue till now)
4) Liquid smooth UI , no lag ever
Hope it Helps Someone..
By the way I'm on stock kernel and unrooted right now
I'm posting this on every Thread cuz I want everyone to know about it and fix there ram management.
