So 1440p on a 5-6in phone is pretty useless, I research a way to actually force our phone (or any) to use 1080p instead of 1440p
pretty simple, there are two way you can do this, one via Terminal or the other using ADB...the ADB way is
adb shell wm size 1080x1920
adb shell wm density 390
then reboot your phone....
second way is, download the terminal and input
su
wm size 1080x1920
wm density 390
reboot phone
if you want to go back to 1440p it will be
wm size 1440x2560 (if you are using adb then adb shell)
wm density 560
pretty simple, let me know if it work or not this suppose to make your cpu/gpu work easier instead of harder thus enhance the battery and lower the heat generate by your phone.
Please dont debate whether you can see 1440p or not...because you cant....dont kid yourself.
not that I care but if it work give me a thanks, I am more interested in how it affect people. since this is my first day of doing it so I dont have any evidence other than cooler phone.

NoMone Resolution Changer application would also work. Please do report back if you notice any battery improvements.
Also please note when down scaling, since the 1920x1080 resolution is not exactly divisible with 2560x1440, there would be some display abherrance which some might notice purely because of down scaling problem which would not have come if the display was actually a 1080p 5.7" screen.

Did you guys enable USB debugging and try doing it through adb
Isn't this just changing DPI? I suspect those info apps show PPI, which doesn't change because it depends on hardware.
Textdroider_dpi is the app I used with OPO, and it worked fine. You do need root.
The first thing you notice after changing dpi is that icons on the main screen change size (to the eye).

No it is what the title says it does. And yes in order for it to scale right u have to change DPI.

In terms of display power consumption, yes there wouldn't be any change. However, the GPU and to a lesser extent CPU doesn't have to be driven that hard to run the display on a lower resolution (s/w wise), hence theoretically leading to better performance, more efficient CPU & GPU. This can lead to battery savings as well potentially. (could be marginal, but needs to be tested)
Anybody tested? Can you extend SOT time? Also 1080 would not be the same proportion...

Yes I read the OP. I read the whole thread. The issue is that actual no one is confirming better battery. Most do not get it to work. Hope to have some extra time tomorrow to test it. Under the theory it should work. My MacBook pro retina has lower battery consumption under lower resolution settings. This should be the same

I tried the lcd density changer but it did't worked.
My Questions r as follows:-
1>Is there any lcd changer which works for lg optimus one?
2>After using it,would i be able to play games with more resolution?
(like games of gameloft)
3>Does it increase the battery consumption?
4>Would it be able to increase the webpage's quality on mobile?
Reply fast i m waiting.
LCD charger makes things on your screen smaller. Its not altering the real resolution of the phone but it fits more things in the same resolution. So its up to you if you ll like it or not. Some games may fit some may glitch a lot.

thanks buddy but
Is there anybody who has a version which works on optimus one?
Check the market for LCD density changer.
i searched for it but the free version doesn't works!
In spica(samsung i5700) you just need to modify the lcd density in build.prop found in the system folder. you guys should check it out. Or add the line ro.sf.lcd_density=140 anywhere in build.prop. Change 140 which is the default(i think) to a higher integer lets say 160 for more items fitting inside the screen.
If something goes wrong I am not responsible. Check out this thread instead Samdroid.net

If this is your aim, then I suggest you make a new topic because the title suggests that you only want to change density.
Another way is to install a new LCD(Along with kernel modifications). No its not impossible but extremely risky. Although its very hard to find a higher resolution LCD(OEM) with the same size as O1's.
By the way, resolution has much to do with density.
Density is inversely proportional to resolution, and the only reason that it's a bad idea changing density on Optimus One is that phones with density lower than 160 are counted as LDPI and therefore you need to resize all images and modify most apps so that the phone can run optimally.
When you change your monitor's resolution something similar happens, the only difference is that most mobile devices don't support changing resolution by default.

I believe it's 160. Lower than that it looks closer to LDPI, higher looks closer to HDPI, but bear in mind that these looks are perceived; you're not actually changing the resolution of your phone.
I own an HTC One (M7) which has a 1080p screen but pretty bad battery life. Since I switched from a Galaxy Nexus to the M7 I personally don't have a problem switching back to a 720p screen. Here is my question:
Is there any way of changing the screens resolution (I am rooted and have a custom ROM with Xposed)?
(Like on windows you can set a 1080p screen to display the content in 720p or even lower, which makes the system run faster since the GPU doesn't need to push around that many pixels)

Its not recomended, bit rate needs to be lowered at 240, quality becomes poor :/

As said i dont recomend. My device got so hot within 2 minuites it froze up and it continued to get hotter after it crashed, it didnt respond to the reset key at all for a good few minuites.
Im not doing it again because of what damage may come.
So learn how to do this your self and do it at your own will. If you damage your device its your fault.

True that. How about this, if i find a way to run a higher fps rate without overheating or terrible quality then ill post a mod. As for now its going to be left in the mod.
i have learned that you can push the Camera beyond its self but it seems certain batches are capable of this.
Current informationtime before shutdown due to heat)
120fps:11mins ~ 01Hr:09mins
240fps:40seconds ~48mins
360fps:3 seconds ~2mins:33 seconds
I didnt lower the bitrates at all in these tests
Lowring the bitrate extended the 120fps record time upto 3hours max
Also i learned it maxed at 4GB and then stops for some reason (probably filesystem format or something silly like that)
Also recording in dark rooms to lower filesize
I do not want to provide a Mod that is Dangerous to users at all even if i write out a Fancy Disclamer

Trust me use arsenic kernel r23 or r24
Practical kernel
Practical kernel with 720p display!
Btw display really saves up a lot of battery on any kernel, if u can live with 720pAmoled display.
Be realistic....... If someone wants a 720 screen, he would get one from start without paying for a device with full HD screen. So what's the point in downgrading your phone?
Omicron Technics
well if u want to save battery
well if u want to save a little more battery downgrading the resolution might be a good idea!
but only if you are comfortable with it.
i know its hard but still it can be done to save . but according to me it does not look that bad coz our display is AMOLED.
although i use FullHD ,but i have tested battery at HalfHD and its save battery (for me it gave me 1.30hr extra SOT)

Step1- open terminal and write-> su ---press enter---
Step2- in the next line write -> wm size *resolution u desire* ----then press enter---- eg ->wm size 720x1280
When u change resolution u have to change ur dpi too *optional !!
For dpi write. .....
wm density *desired* eg--> wm density 290
(For 720 i recommended 290)
-at least those work for me ?
So mi9/9se/9t got some nice mods for screen overclocking, anyone done anything similar for mi8?
Also would like to know, if it possible.
There was an option on some old extreme kernel, but if it possible to implement to a Newark revolution or another?
Because there are always an option of save screen overlock, like on a PC or laptop.
i am too would like to know if it possible.
but i think mi8 max can reach 70hz.
On the Extreme Kernel 75hz is too much laggy.
Yes some people tried it and if I remember correctly they used the existing mod and it worked temporarily until it damaged their phones.
Search, and you will find the threads where people were trying to fix their phone afterwards.
Just sell your phone and buy one with that capability, I would bet that it's not worth the extra cost.

The simple answer - because everything on phone would be much smother, without any drawbacks (only small with battery consumption, but very, very small). There should be safe overclock for every display - yeah, 84Hz is toooo high, but 70 should be just fine for screen.

Because it will damage your GPU.
But go ahead and do what you want, the warning is for the people wanting to do things safely.
I would advise that you search XDA and find the many people with many different types of phones who damaged their phones using GPU overclock mods not designed for their device.
Overclocking the display makes as much sense as removing the thermal config files to get a higher AnTuTu score. Does it work? Yes, until Black screen.
Again, do what you want :
a overclock file for the display is already available that will install on the Mi8. Go find it and enjoy it for maybe a few days until your display stops working and the only solution is replacing the motherboard.
Enjoy :good:

Addition to the previous post, 10 fps will do no favors to your experience. And if it was safe, xiaomi would deliver the device with this modification. Who would limit a feature while they can advertise it and sell more? You have a decent flagship device from last year and it's still very powerful against tree he majority of the devices in the market. If it was possible, I'm sure this brand would do it.
It's unsafe and many people are saying that it actually makes the device lagging, instead of the expected "smoother" experience. 60 fps is enough, and more than this is just fantasy and it'll make you no better than you currently are in any online games. If you want proof, go to the extreme kernel thread and you'll see many people are suffering this laggy ui issue.

And your IQ is just laughable, and your lifespan is very questionable.
Firstly you need to understand what gpu does.
Higher refresh rate for display = higher refresh rate for gpu, which means your GPU will need to use more battery, and run faster to keep up with. This will also heat your GPU excessively which will damage it.

It has a cooling system called "vapor cooling". You can buy a Razer Phone 2 instead, then.
You are claiming that I am wrong by repeating me in different words, very clever.

The cooling system is when the GPU is being demanded heavy resources which is GAMING and only GAMING!
Displaying normal apps (reddit whatsapp instagram email) and the home screen will not stress the GPU it can display over 300 fps and it won't need any cooling as it will not run hot.
I have the razer phone 2, if what you are saying is true my phone will be a constant hot potato since 120hz will always stress the GPU.
The Mi8's screen is designed to handle 60hz safely. The GPU can blow the display and it will keep running normally.
Please do not spread wrong information, I am not repeating you at all, what I am saying is completely contradictory to what you are saying.

When you laugh at people's iq and lifespan,it means there are no point of having any argument with you
