Knock code disabled/grayed out. - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I naively installed an app called Packet Capture which included installing a user certificate. I was instructed to enter a pin to replace my knock code. I quickly realized this is something I am not interested in and removed both the app and certificate.
I had no idea this would disable my knock code and apparently permanently gray out the option.
I have tried entering my pin to see if the knock code option would appear with no luck. I tried Re installing the app, again, no luck. Tried the app and certificate, no luck.
So, I have Uninstaller the stupid app and certificate again and am now unable to reactivate my knock code.
Oh, I googled the subject and tried unchecked the administrators as suggested in another forum, no luck.
Please help.
Thanks

Try going to certificate management and clear the certificates. I had the same problem when I had installed vpn adblocker

uninstall lock

i have a very playful friend and she keeps uninstalling apps on my X8, is there a privacy lock that asks for a pin before installing? any help would be appreciated it
If you go to Settings > Location & security you'll find the 'unlock pattern' setting, where you can set a patern you need to enter every time you unlock the phone.
I would've prefered just a normal pin, but whatever..
Edit: Oh sorry, I didn't read the OP properly. No, I don't know of such a privacy lock. Does Android have 'parental tools'?
try to check this
http://www.android-password.com/
or maybe something similar, but better advice is not to share your phone with playful friends

[Q] cannot disable password

Hi I have recently tried disabling my password as it got annoying having to enter it so often. But when I try to set it to slide or none, those options are simply greyed out and can't be selected. All it says is disabled by administrator, credential storage or encryption policy. The only one I understand is the admin one and my prime has no admin. Any help?

Do you have a connection to a corporate email account on your Prime? These accounts can, and do, often force you to have a password on your device. I'm in the same boat as you. I just made a really short numerical PIN and learned to deal with it.
all i have is a hotmail and gmail account on my prime. would either one be the culprit?

No, neither of these will force a password/PIN, as far as I know (definitely not Gmail).
More questions:
Do you remember setting your password/PIN? Were you asked to do this when installing some software, or did you just do it on your own?
Did you encrypt your Prime?
If you did not encrypt, how are you going about trying to turn off the password?

No I have none. Is there any way I can backup my data and do a factory reset? I have titanium but not the pro version or a SD card to backup onto. Are there any ways I could save my stuff in drop box or something so I can restore and then install back the data I need?
This is really weird. Have you tried a hard reset, yet? Open a small paper clip and stick it in the hole about an inch below the microSD card slot. Your Prime will reboot at that point. Unlike a factory reset, you lose nothing with a hard reset, and they can often solve weird problems. After you have done this, see if you can disable the password.

Adhell 3 + chrome doesn't work

Hello,
I've been using adhell for a week, and noticed that it actually doesn't work at all on Chrome
So I checked online and apparently I needed to disable the async dns in Chrome to make it work. So I tried that, and it seemed to work (except that there are still white boxes instead of ad, which is ugly), but it brings another issue. Now I have dns_probe_finished_nxdomain error when I try to access websites... I already tried everything, changing dns server, resetting cache, etc... It doesn't work.
I didn't find any topic online about that.. So here it is
Does someone have this issue?
Thanks in advance

It is a very simple fix just read below.
First, you need to copy this text and paste it into the address bar of the chrome ‘chrome://flags/’ and press Enter.
Now without going any down or further, you will see ‘Reset all to default’ in the upper right corner of your browser. Just hit the button and restart the chrome and by now the problem is solved.

Thanks, but i already know that. It solves the problem, but the ad blocker still doesn't work with chrome. async dns must be disable to allow ad blocker to work.

Thanks, i'll try that, but its a vpn ad blocker and that's not really what i wanted. I already tried dns66 but it didn't work well + consume more battery than a system adblocker like adhell

The white boxes thing is normal for this app or any app that only blocks ads at a DNS/hostname level. Adhell does not do any cosmetic filtering that would remove the boxes, placeholders, frames, etc. in which the website itself embedded the advertisement.
The DNS_probe error you mentioned maybe due to adhell blocking the domain or else there is a dns resolution issue. Try turning off Adhell and seeing if chrome displays the sites you were having problems with. If needs be try clearing the dns cache within chrome again and/or rebooting the phone to clear the OS dns cache.
If the issue persists after you disable/turn off adhell then the problem is not from adhell at all... Did you try one of the following steps to troubleshoot?
turn adhell off, disable blocklists, turn adhell back on and see if you can browse the site?
Did you add "com.android.chrome|*|53" under the blacklist to disable port 53 for Chrome. The adhell version I am using lists this in the readme as how to block ads on chrome on port 53 for all ip addresses.
did you clear the dns cache within chrome?
If this is a bug with the app did you post on the applicable board/forum/site and ask the developer of adhell for any help?
If the adhell your using is updated often have you obtained the latest updates?
Getting in touch with the developer maybe of use to you on this. Myself when I had an issue the developer was real quick to help address the problem and implement a fix.

Thanks for your answer.
So I just tried everything you said :
With adhell disabled, it works. So the problem is linked to adhell. I tried adding the rule about port 53, but with that, I get error DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET instead...
As you said I'll try to post that on the adhell github
Ok i solved the issue
so for people having the same issue :
as scottusa2008 said, you need to add a firewall rule under Domains/Blacklist/Add firewall rule and put "com.android.chrome|*|53"
then reactivate domain rules and firewall rules on the adhell3 home menu.
And dont use the async settings in chrome, that is what was blocking my internet connection
Is this still working for you? I'm still getting ads in Chrome...

and enable firewall rules on the first tab - got it working for me!! Ta
Looks like it's broken in Chrome 69 for me. It's been working throughout, but now I notice ads are appearing again since Chrome updated. I've turned off / restarted Adhell3, closed Chrome and re-opened, and checked settings are still normal.
Diden't work for me at first aswel.
Updated to the latest Adhell 3 (3.1.1.230) - I've actually removed the previous one completly.
Added com.android.chrome|*|53 to Firewall block rules. Make sure it's Firewall rule and not Domain.
After that, clear cashe at Chrome, and all working!
Have the newest Chrome version (the one with the graphics change)

Thanks. I'll grab the laptop and make the updated APK file and see how that goes. I'm guessing my Knox key is about to expire again too so may as well renew that
Edit - and how suddenly it works (on 3.0.0). Didn't do anything to change this but now ads are being blocked in Chrome again and I see this reflected in Adhell3's Reports. Weird!
ok adds with com.android.chrome|*|53 are blocked but whitelist is not working at all, any way to fix that?
data saver mode must also be disabled in chrome
How to make adhell work with Microsoft edge

Cannot use fingerprint to authenticate.

Hi All,
Is anyone else having issues while trying to authenticate apps (or open apps) using fingerprint on the device? (Say Google Pay, I cannot log in to the app with fingerprint, phone asks for Pattern/Password).
If this is not an issue, please let me know how to enable it. I checked in settings, looks good.
Please note that I am able to unlock the device using FP
Help is appreciated!

I don't think there any option to enable it. It's system wide support that's missing from xiaomi on POCO. it was there on Mi A2 (obviously, being Android one).SO i think we need to bring this one to POCO Team's attention. Send Bug report for same & Tag them on twitter if you are there.

Yup, I dont think it works on miui. I am not able to authenticate any of my banking apps via fingerprint.
I guess its depends upon the app developer. There is no fingerprint authentication for Google Pay/ Tez but I can enjoy this feature with ICICI banking app.

I checked. I can use it on my bank accounts, app lock, and third party app loks as well.
The thing with Tez it that it relies on Android's native screenlo k or Google Pin, now the app is probably not able to leverage the screen lock fully (the Fingerprint), which should be brought to Xiaomi's notice. I'll be writing this on the Xiaomi Forum now.

I can't get it to work with the same app. It just says fingerprint authentication failed multiple times before I even place my finger and then it forces me back to using my pin.
Not sure with Google Pay/Tez since we don't have that in my country, but my banking apps work fine with fingerprint. Even PayPal works. I suggest updating the FIDO and IFAA certificates. If it doesn't then best bet is to truly contact Xiaomi or post in forums (though contacting them directly may be best to get any answers straight from the horses mouth)
It worked fine for me but since the last update (10.1.3) it has become unreliable - 50/50 chance of it working. Unlock device works 100% of the time. Tried recreating all the fingerprints and same issue.
I've the same problem.
All apps i decided to secure with fingerprint, can't be unlocked with fingerprint.
Only the option of PIN is available, but don't work either.
It's the same problem as drawkcaB has told...
Did everyone solve the problem?

Thanks for your quick reply!
The problem is that it mostly affects the pre-installed apps from xiaomi.
Unfortunately, you can not uninstall these.
Presumably a reset to factory settings will be unavoidable?

For me it was only 3rd party apps, bus you can try wiping the app data/cache individually to see if it works?

Fingerprint icon is not showing on lockscreen
I have seen fingerprint icon on lockscreen of stock android and OxygenOS. Also in Gpay if enable unlock using lockscreen fingerprint icon is showing on Gpay authentication window of both the phone. Since fingerprint icon is missing in lockscreen of poco make it depreciated to gpay authentication using fingerprint.
Yes, I am also facing same problem. Could you resolve it?

[HELP] Preventing uninstall of application

Hello. I have an Android lock app application, I need help preventing its uninstall. I've already placed a device administrator's permission on it, and it can't be removed, but when you get into device management apps, the manager can be disabled and removed.
All I need if you can, little thing, is to pop the "lock" activity of the application as soon as you try to turn off the app's device management, and then it won't be uninstallable.
Can someone do this for me?
I will pay for him kindly for this little task.
Please contact with me.

Hello, I assume application is yours. You cannot do pretty much, normally the apps which have administrative permissions cannot be uninstalled without revoking administrative permission. But if you want to make an app uninstallable you should convert it to system app. That can be done with root.

Of course it can be done.
Like any parental control app.
When someone tries to access the device adminstration settings it locks the screen or pop ups a "lock pattern" activity, and if you don't enter the password you can't disable it's admin device management.
I don't know how to do so. Any help?

Oh, sorry for misunderstood, well, you can create a receiver with onDisableRequired
Here is an example
https://stackoverflow.com/q/19856344/6302432
You can take a onDisable to create a overlay with password or pattern protection (needed permission to draw over another apps).

I already know about onDisable and onDisableRequested functions.
I explain my problem, I have only the apk and not the source.
This applocker is not mine, I just edited it and added it some design and translations with APK Editor Pro.
Now that I have the apk of the applock, and I can see that there is "lock" activity that if you call it , the lock screen will pop-up,
maybe someone know how to edit it or tell me what to add to the apk file so when you try to deactivate device admin then the lock activity will be called?
