I just got the S4 for Verizon prepaid. It came pre-installed with lollipop 5.0.1. I do enjoy tinkering and getting the most out of android, even if making the best of it beings verizon loves to lock stuff up. So before I start any tweaking, I don't want to end up with a soft brick so I want to be cautious and have something to fall back on which would be the firmware I can load back into the phone via Odin. So if anything bad cones I'm covered. No idea how many times the firmware for my prepaid s3 saved my phone lol. So it is needed but unfortunately prepaid firmware seems harder to get.
The firmware or build im exactly after is...i545ppvruaoh7 with kernel September 7 2015. (Not sure if that part matters) any help is appreciated. I seem to have posted this in the wrong section before. I was told to post here but if I'm wrong to post in this section then let me know. Thanks
Still no help?
I'm kinda in the same boat with a Verizon prepaid i545ppvruaoh7. I tried a few ways to root (downgrade to OC1 etc..) but wasn't able to get root until I used Kingroot. Now I am rooted, uninstalled Kingroot and installed Supersu. Root is working still but my Camera isn't working, my wifi passwords won't stick after reboot, and I get a security notification every few minutes. Seems like I need to be back on my original Kernel, which I didn't make a backup of to make everything OK again. Firmware for our I545ppvruaoh7 would fix my problems.
Sorry this doesn't help you @bjf189, but if I can find the firmware I will reply back to here.

I have a few firmware sites bookmarked. Some have firmware for the prepaid s3 so I'm hoping in time they will have the s4 firmware as well. I don't understand why you had to downgrade your kernel though. I'm not real fond of how kernels work but I left it all alone. Didn't downgrade anything. Used king root to root. It said it wouldn't root but still I continued and it rooted. I removed all bloatware and adjusted a few things with pimp my rom. That's about it. I wanted to install safestrap but I see warnings that it don't work on 5.0 lollipop. So I'm avoiding that until firmware is released cause I'm not using that app flashfire being you have to be able to boot into system to use the app to do anything. Just to risky for me. As for your Wi-Fi problems I'm betting it's your kernel. Being the firmware is different, the kernel your looking for or suppose to have for the firmware isn't out yet. I'd give you my stock kernel that came with mine but not sure how you could flash a raw dump
I was able to reinstall my firmware for our i545ppvruaoh7 (with kernel September 7 2015) by using KIES. http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/app/kies
My phone is now exactly like it was when I un-boxed it. No root but everything is working again!

[/COLOR]I have exactly this same phone and exactly the same issues. I went to the OC1 firmware via Odin a couple times fooling around. Got Rooted. But Charger and Camera went Adios.
Recovery is simple. Inside your Phone in a hidden Partition. It is the Verizon Diagnostic Utilities. When you first plug your phone into a USB you will see the 4 or 5 files.
Run the Application. It will install into your PC. Then with a good internet connection. Run the "Repair" module. It has a nice backup feature. Presto in 45 minutes your back
to "Bone Stock". Root is gone but your fully recovered.
OK now the good news. You want root on your PP version of the Verizon S4. Its available NOW. It can be done with a little skill
1. Download the King Root apk. build 4.8 10523. It's dated 2/4/2016. At first it sez not available for root. Then hit the try anyway. Download Root Checker. Confirm Root.
2. Get the King SU Un- installed. Go Here. http://www.w0lfdroid.com/2015/05/How-to-Remove-Replace-KingUser-KingRoot-with-SuperSU.html
3. Download ES File Explorer, Terminal Emulator, and the enclosed Patch on the link above.
4. Follow the directions on the link.
5. You need to Unzip the Patch from wolfdroid into the correct directory. /sdcard/mrw/. Use ES File explorer for that
6. Run the emulator. Type SU to get to the root.
7. Then run the Patch/ batch command. sh /sdcard/mrw/root.sh
That will clean up the KingrootSU and some of the garbage files it leaves behind.
The Super SU will work and you can de-install anything KingRoot still on your phone at this point.
I have loaded Titanium and frozen my Bloat. Loaded my apps with Link2D so I can put them on my sd card. You need to Partition your SD drive correctly.
Using it for a few days now and its flawless. Everything works. Nice speed and full root. No ROM attempts yet. I will back it all up and try in a few weeks.
But have no fear. Your S4 PP Verizon OH7 is recoverable from the process above. No KNOX trip either.

I've known this but thanks for the tip. I already rooted using that method. I can't rely on that tool to fix a possible screw up. I messed something up on my s3 when I had it. Tried that same tool and it wouldn't go past 51% it kept crashing. So I'm not looking for any other method then the firmware to use in Odin but still thanks guys

I have the Verizon S4 used the forum for
Wander share on PC downgraded kernel to oc1 to root and flashed of1 using Odin 3.07 the kernel flash took care of the security warning . Then I downloaded Stanglte non mdk oc1 of rom plus WiFi fix and beta super user zips kladhed with flash fire and I'm cooking however this is the only firm ware I have found working .
I'm still having no luck finding the oh7 firmware :/
Question. Why do you need the Firmware ? I have a Request in for it with SamMobil. Just to have the file. It will come in time. I reset my PP version with the Internal tool that's on the Hidden partition on your phone. You will see it when you first plug in the phone via usb and look at windows file explorer. It will time out after a minute or so then show you the contents in your phones file system.. Yes USB Debugging must be on. That will program when loaded on your PC will reload the original Firmware File completely. Phone will be BONE STOCK. I used it 4 times on my phone. Are you just attempting to root ? Mine sure is working good rooted. Camera, Network, Everything perfectly and I am rooted via Kingroot. Going back to OC1 will not work with this Variant. The reason the program would hang is PC or Network related. I am a windows Expert. Nothing wrong with that program. It will pick up where it left off too. Its very well written.

Sorry for the late reply. I never got an email saying you replied. I was just letting time pass and check time to time for the firmware. Anyways, I need the firmware as a safe resort. I'm also rooted with king root. King root does wonders lol. I refuse to do any modding or tinkering until I have the firmware cause if anything goes wrong, and I don't have the firmware then it's a higher chance of my phone not working and thus service days wasted. After getting the firmware, I'm looking to deodex and get xposed to work but before taking any of those steps, I wanna play it safe and cautious. Just cause it works for others, don't mean it's 100% to work for me. So that's why it's important for me to get the firmware for this phone. So as soon as sammobile releases that firmware to you or the public, can you link it on here for me? I'd greatly appreciate it
any one have any info on the firmware as of yet?

i found this site that only has it. think its legit? http://www.samsung-file.com/index.p...es)/Model_I/I545PP_(SCH-I545PP)/I545PPVRUAOH7
I saw that site. Wanted a big subscription fee as I recall. Sam Mobil will have it in due time. And I can reload with the Verizon Tools. So its built into that.

im glad others can have the tools from Verizon to fall back on but i dont feel entirely safe about tinkering until i have that firmware. i had the S3 on prepaid and postpaid and prepaid had different firmwares so if anything is mistaked in between, im screwed. im looking at deodexing my stock rom after getting the firmware though so i can run xposed. im assuming im going to need to deodex it myself some way beings everyone who deodexed it before was on postpaid firmware. i just wish that sammobile would release it more quickly so i can start customizing and such. ive tried other prepaid firmware sites as well and put in requests for the specific firmware but not any replies on that as of yet. i do appreciate that you are keeping me up to date. thank you.
Any firmware come up yet for this? I've got nothing
Still looking?
I recently just go the phone as well and was successfully rooted with King. Every forum I found allows Custom Rom on the older variants of this model but not the PP, any luck yet?

Hi guys my girlfriend bought a LG Viper 4G LTE and she told me to root it to remove the sprint crap, so I was wondering if anyone has already done this and if yes, can they tell me how to s-off + root + custom recovery + and probably custom ROM.
If anyone can help, please I'll appreciate it. Since I searched here for that phone and is not even listed.
The phone is running android 4.0.4, is this ICS or Jelly bean?
I do not know how to get into fast boot boot loader cause I don't think it is POWER + VOL DOWN.
Thanks in advanced
Have a nice day

Im trying to root mine right now and can't seem to get it to work, I've tried Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v21 and LG-Viper-ICS-Root-tool with no luck. If i get it to run all the way though and reboot it still comes up without root and with no super user. I am starting to think I may have to find a way to downgrade it and root from there.....Did you ever have any luck?
Update:

I've downgraded and rooted so far and its working, I may look for a rom before i upgrade again.
Confirmed above!

I can confirm that the above will work. I have a refurbished Viper from Sprint that I got because my 3G radio quit sending. It would receive great, but couldn't send any MMS or upload anything while on 3G. 4G was great, just no joy on 3G. Strangest thing. Anyway, got the phone replaced, and on the replacement was of course the dreaded unrooted ZVK. Gotta have my root back...
So I decided to try all this stuff out, and It worked.
To add a little further info, if you've got a relatively bare install of Windows, especially XP, you might need BOTH the VisualC++ Runtime Redistributables from 2010 (mentioned in the above thread) AND the one from 2008! If you don't have both, the LG FlashTool will not run. You can find them on Microsoft's site.
Once the flash tool has successfully downgraded your Viper, make sure you perform a factory reset, as indicated in the instructions for the FlashTool. Then use the "Activate" app to get your 3G/4G on. After that, set up your Google account under "Accounts and Sync" in "Settings".
I did the whole operation completely on a linux system, using a virtual machine running Windows XP for the FlashTool, then the bash script from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43530152&postcount=3253 with the v.31 rooting tool from the original post in that thread.
I had to edit the script in a very minor way, as was pointed out by its author, so it could find my adb command. I just placed the path to that command in the line that said:
Code:
for test_adb in "adb" "stuff/adb"
in the place of the first "adb", so I got:
Code:
for test_adb in "/home/user/android-sdk-linux/platform-tools/adb" "stuff/adb"
Make sure to replace "user" with your username, without the quotes.
Then I stuck the script in the same folder as the runme.bat file. After the script and root tool had done their work, my phone had rebooted a total of three times, and I had a perfectly functional Superuser app!
Huge thanks to LoveMyAndroid2010 in the post linked above. Great script - some love for linux!
Now to get RootKeeper and upgrade back to ZVK...
The aforementioned root method worked for me. Since I've rooted, I've compiled my findings into another thread. I haven't been able to unlock the bootloader yet, unfortunately.
how to upgrade LG Viper to Jelly bean or higher
After I root as per instructions, how can I upgrade the OS?
Please help. I'm a newbie and would appreciate any help you may offer. Haven't rooted any phone before.
A while back when I first got my Verizon Note 2, I used Adam Outler's Casual method to root my phone to Stock. I don't mind stock and root mostly for the Tethering.
About a week back the OTA notice hit my phone. I have declined the notice/update twice giving myself time to look for the root update. I found this thread by Beans: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2518704 ........ It seems right but this thread by AdamOutler says not to use ODIN: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2045563
So I am a little confused. I just want the update but don't want to mess up and not have my tethering ever again.... or brick the phone.
As a newbie, it's a scary task. Someone please help point me in the right direction. I just want the 4.3 Stock. If there is a thread for my situation I couldn't find it. I search "casual TWRP 4.3 OTA" and other similar variations.
I can still get to the TWRP 2.5.0.0. I have also downloaded the ODIN and started it... looks simple, but there are no instructions.
Someone please help me...
Thanks

Welp, couple things...
#1 - The link you posted above is the from the Note 3. You want this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2578458
#2, The ROM gets flashed via CWM or TRWP like normal, it's only the radio update that gets flashed via ODIN. That shouldn't affect your current unlock/root status.
#3 - If it is only ROOT you are after, the 4.3 OTA is Rootable, just not unlockable. So if by chance you accidentally take the OTA you should still be able to ROOT and install your Tethering app. You just won't be able to unlock the bootloader and install a custom recovery/rom.

You cannot. Best bet is to not take the other and unlock your bootloader. If you take it you will probably be locked for a very long time.

Correct, you cannot currently UNLOCK the OTA MJ9 boot loader. But you can ROOT. Which will allow you to tether.

I would think long and hard about taking the OTA...although root is available, you may want an unlocked bootloader at some point, and there is no guarantee that is coming to the official 4.3. My guess is that it will not simply because this phone is 18 months old and the skilled developers that put in the time to do things like unlock bootloaders move on to newer devices.
If you managed to use Casual in the past, Odin won't be a problem for you. Below are the steps:
Odin takes about 5 minutes total...its really easy.
Download Odin (it's just a simple windows program). - http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...3&d=1304094576
Make sure you have the latest samsung drivers - http://www.mediafire.com/?hzlnda0l5t8qyes
Download and extract the firmware from the first post in this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2578458
Save whatever 4.3 ROM you choose to your external SD card.
Power down the phone and boot back into download mode (volume down, power and home at the same time).
Open Odin, plug in phone...Odin should recognize the phone and you will see the com port noted in yellow.
Check the PDA box and put the firmware file (unzipped) in the PDA slot. Click start and 30 seconds later you are done. Phone will reboot into recovery at this point.
Then you can flash any of the 4.3 ROMs (including stock) in TWRP (I use 2.5.0.0 too). I have tried them all and Sophisticated 3.0 has worked the best for me...I will be trying beans 23 as soon as it is done.

Thank you so much. Updated and everything seem to work just fine, but after some use it started rebooting. I am going to put on Sophisticated as you suggested. Hopefully, it will be more stable then the stock ROM.
And I can't get the WIFI Tethering to work. Which Tethering app are you using? I have unlimited data... and need to make sure Verizon isn't charging me for no reason.

As for the wifi tethering, on stock you need to flash the file below (some of the newer roms, including Sophisticated have it baked in).

The reason you ask what? You didn't ask anything. And as it's been stated a million times, no unlock method avaliable and unlikely there will be one.

Eh, he is one of those that puts the question in his title instead of the body of the reply. But as @akellar said, there is nothing available.
Thanks so much for all the help. I got everything working right based on the instructions from this thread. I initially had an issue with the "Wifi Tether" because I was using a 3rd party app. Instead the correct app is the "Mobile Hotspot" app. It might be named differently for other carriers, but for Verizon it is "Mobile Hotspot".
Again thank you for all the replies.
Thank you for Sophisticated v3.
Thank you Adam Outler for the original Casual root.
And Thank you runandhide05 for the "Mobile Hotspot" hack!

Does anyone know of a custom recovery that has been compiled for the LG L15G (AKA Sunrise)? I've been looking all weekend for one and haven't had any luck. I know there's no official build of either CWM or TWRP available for it, but I'm hoping to find an unofficial build that will work. I have it rooted already, but I've not been able to find a recovery for it and I don't want to do any more hacking till I have that.
Also if anyone can point me towards a decent custom ROM for this thing I'd appreciate it. I haven't had any luck finding that either.

i have this model but i updated it before I knew it would prevent me from rooting it... any way you could upload a backup of your firmware that I can use to downgrade to?
How can you beat a $9 phone

Just picked this phone up too, any luck on getting a ROM for it?
I picked one up....couldn't resist for just $9.82. I didn't let it update, so I was able to root it with Kingroot 4.6. Quite snappy after all the bloatware was removed. Have about 1.5gb of internal memory left, but added an 8gb microSD. I haven't been able to findy any recovery, doubt one exists. Nice little emergency phone to have in the car or backpack.
Just picked this phone up as well, and KingoRoot doesn't work. I wasn't prompted for a firmware update when I first cranked it up so I guess I'm on some version that isn't supported? Can anybody clarify what the status of this device is currently? I've got the Tracfone version.
I just rooted my LG L15G tracphone with KingRoot and it worked immediately. Great!
Next step is to get this 10 dollar phone unlocked.
By the way, my firmware version is: Android 4.4.2
I picked one up last night. Kingroot said my device wasn't supported but clicking "try it" successfully rooted the device!
I replaced Kingroot with SuperSU by following these directions: http://www.w0lfdroid.com/2015/05/How-to-Remove-Replace-KingUser-KingRoot-with-SuperSU.html?m=1
I've removed McAfee, but are the Tracfone bloat apps safe to remove?
Tracfone refused to give me the unlock code because their policy is that the phone must be active and have minutes on it for 12 consecutive months (wtf?)
One unlock website did have our device listed (http://www.imei-unlocker.com) but both their methods said that unlock wasn't available yet. They refunded me for both attempts.
If anyone has a Linux setup, we can compile our own TWRP. I found the kernel source earlier today: http://opensource.lge.com/osSch/list?types=NAME&search=Lgl15g

I just got this phone for Christmas. What version of Kingroot did you use? The ones I'm downloading don't work. (The one I've tried says something about no available root strategy and adds me to some stupid que line or something. There is no "try it" button after it does this.) You happen to have the specific APK you used and what version was your phone on when you rooted it?
Currently mine is Android version 4.4.2 with kernel version 3.4.0. I haven't attempted to update it yet as I am to assume that would be a bad idea. Unless you have a version newer then mine, then I guess updating would actually help me in this situation.
Looks like there STILL isn't any custom rom or custom recovery for this phone yet. It's been out since July and thanks to the $10 phone promo, there are tons of these out in the wild so I'm surprised nothing has been done with it yet.
I really want to root it as I want to remove some bloatware like McAfee and Polaris office. I would also like to uninstall Chrome so that I can install it to SD card. (unless Chrome can't be moved to SD card, in which case this would be a waste of time I suppose.) Aside from a few extra Google apps, there really isn't that much bloatware aside from what I already mentioned above. I can wait for a custom rom/recovery (though having a custom recovery would be nice as it would allow me to backup my phone incase something gets messed up). I just want to free up some internal storage by removing the bloatware.
(also, the no outside links thing with new users is annoying. I agree new users shouldn't be allowed to. But please at least code the forum to be smarter. I had to manually remove all the links to a post I quoted before it would let me post. That's kinda stupid. If I quote a post in the same thread I'm responding too that has links, it should be assumed to be safe since the links were posted by a verified member. I would hope the forum could fix that or at least have the common ***king courtesy of removing the links from the quotes for me. )
EDIT:
Ok some interesting news to report. It almost wants to work now. For what ever reason, it randomly decided to finally show me the "Try it" button. (I should have clarified earlier it never displayed that button. It would just say root strategy unavailable and that was the end of it. Now it says there is one and lets me use the Try It button. However it will get to about 60% (though it will randomly stop earlier on other attempts. Sometimes my phone will reboot after it reaches 20% or so) it will just say root failed.
I don't understand why this is seeing that my LG Sunrise is pretty much the same as someone else who managed to root it with Kingroot. It's never been updated. (I even checked for updates and there aren't any).
The only thing I can think of that might be a problem is that the phone isn't yet activated as I have not gotten air time for it yet. Does this root process require the phone to be on an active SIM first?
Root with Root Genius
I have root my LG L15G (Android 4.4.2, kernel 3.4.0+, software version LGL15G10f) with Root Genius for PC v3.0.85.
Of cource, before rooting "Developer options" must be unlocked (5-8 taps on Settings>About Phone>Software information>Build number) and turned on; in "Developer options" must be selected "USB debugging".
After this connect phone to PC. All phone drivers must be installed.
Run Root Genius. When program will ready and say about connect with LG L15G - press one button. After 2-3 minutes root is enabled.
Titanium Backup works. But I have no ideas for unlock the phone to make a possibility work in other GSM-networks, except TracFone's.
Hmm, I had tried Root Genius and that didn't work for me (and yeah I did enable USB debugging. I apparently was using an older build of Root Genius. But I found and used the build you used and still get the unsupported model error. ). My software version is as follows:
Android Version: 4.4.2
Baseband version: M8610B-AAAANAZM-1.0.6060
Kernel version: 3.4.0+
Build number: KOT49I.LGL15G11a
Software version: LGL15G11a
There does appear to be some differences in the software version of mine vs the post above me. I'm guessing they changed something. But that's odd as my phone was brand new just like yours assuming you got it around the same time as me.
EDIT. Ok some bad news. Looks like there was a newer software update (that my phone apparently came with) that blocks root and even prevents download mode from working. (I had attempted to boot into download mode but none of the button combinations work and even the root scripts I've tried can't get it to reboot into download mode)
Seems I'm stuck with a phone I probably can't ever root.
It seems it can still be forced into download mode by using a "56k/130k/910k cable" cable (special cable with resistor on one of the data lines). But they are running for $18 on ebay and way to damn expensive for a simple cable with a resistor installed. Resistors are probably only worth pennies each, so they are way too expensive to be charging that much for it.
If I had a such a cable, the root script I had tried awhile back might have worked as it needs to get the phone into download mode to finish the process.
There seems that there's little hope for your phone but I may have a solution. My LG Sunrise got updated as well and got root access with the update. You can use King Root but not Kingo.
Look it up on Google. So far I've had no success on getting to the recovery mode.
I've tried rooting with KingRoot. It will just say it failed after 20% (sometimes it goes higher, but always end with it saying this).
Note that unlike your phone, mine already had the latest update out of the box.

If you still haven't got root yet,for me it was McAfee that's been blocking Kingroot every since Nov.
Even though I never set up an account,it was the culprit..I opened the McAfee app created the account and Disabled.
Went to settings,ALL apps, then opened McAfee..Scrolled down to ''manage space'' and deactivated and hit force stop.
Then I ran KingRoot version 4.8.0 from this site.My device rebooted at around 30%,went back to KingRoot and it finished rooting.
THANK YOU!
It took a few tries, but after disabling McAfee's root protection (It completely skipped my mind that this stupid app would have a feature that would interfere. ) KingRoot definitely did it's thing. (I had to re-attempt twice because once it rebooted and failed. So I had to kill the app again and try again. That time it rooted without restarting).
I've already uninstalled McAfee and a few other system apps I need to get rid of. (McAfee on a $10 phone? Yeah..... No.... I'll take my chances. )
I also replaced KingRoot with SuperSU and uninstalled Purify and the KingRoot app that installed the root. After cleaning out unneeded bloatware, this phone is pretty responsive now! It used to lag a little and not register touches some times. But after cleaning out the bloatware (McAfee was probably the main source of the lag) it runs pretty well now!
EDIT:
Ok minor issue. I can't seem to uninstall Chrome (since it's a system app on this phone). It keeps reinstalling it self. It won't stay gone. What would be causing that? I wanted to move Chrome to SD so it doesn't take up space. But this particular phone won't let me.
Seems to happen with Polaris Office as well. Not a big deal at the moment. I can just freeze this app so it won't take up any CPU time/ram. Freezing it seems to work fine. Uninstalling it just results in it mysteriously reinstalling it self....
Does yours lose root after rebooting? I tried to run 'adb reboot recovery' for giggles and SuperSU no longer had root when it failed to start the local and booted normally.

I have the Android SDK installed on my desktop but the TWRP porting guide by Dees_Troy is a little bit too vague for a first timer. I was able to extract the stock recovery using dd this afternoon.
I haven't tried to reboot mine into recovery mode. But root sticks when doing normal reboots.

That's fantastic. If it would help, I have one of those variable resistor cables that some LG phone requires for supporting baseband or entering the bootloader.
This is the cable I have: http://m.ebay.com/itm/131321398015
It is described here as well: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069564
The Samsung Galaxy Go Prime or SM-G530A is an AT&T Go Phone that is specific to being sold at WalMart.
In researching the phones FCC ID# I noticed that this the same phone as the SM-G530AZ or the one sold by Cricket Wireless.
First up are all the required files:
Firmware MediaFire
NV Data Mega NZ
QCN File Mega NZ
PIT File Mega NZ
BL+CP+CSC Mega NZ
Stock Kernel Mega NZ
I have successfully rooted the SM-G530A using KingRoot APK v4.62, I then installed the Flashify APK, and flashed the original Stock Kernel. (File must be unzipped and loaded as "Boot.img") After and only after that was done I was able to successfully restart the phone.
NOTE: Failure to re-flash the stock Kernel will result in a "seandroid" boot error.
Should you find yourself with the "seandroid" boot error simply install the stock Kernel through your PC with Odin.
Optional for Root:
I was able to successfully switch from KingoRoot to SuperSU with the Super-SumePro APK in the Google Play store. ($3.99 is well worth it! + your supporting good developers)
Here is a list of the required factory files:
ALL_ATT_G530AUCU4AOI7_G530AATT4AOI7_CL828509_QB6433914_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 1.61 GB

I am not sure the root binary is specific to any firmware however, if something should go wrong you now have all the original files.
No phone wifi issues on my end.. I use a newer Netgear AC wifi however, I do know that older Linksys N wifi made allot of my 4.4.4 and above phones go crazy.

Hmm, seems there are two different links to stock kernel listed in op. one is for stock_kernel_by_911.img and the other is stock_kernel_by_911.tar. Son is at work, so when he gets home tonight, I will try the extracted img from the tar and see what happens. Will report back with results.
Edit: After flashing the right boot.img all is fine. So, you MUST make sure you dl the boot.img that's in stock_kernel_by_911.tar, extract it and flash with Flashify.
Can someone tell me if that firmware link could get me back to 4.4.4, please?

Those are the factory installed files for 5.1.1 with the SM-G530A AT&T variant you would need the original release firmware for SM-G530AZ from Cricket.
If you can locate the original files they would be either
The whole package:
ALL_AIO_G530AZTUU3AOF5_G530AZAIO3AOF5_CL419809_QB5874412_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 1.03 GB
or individual files..
AP_G530AZTUU3AOF5_CL419809_QB5874412_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 978.92 MB
BL_G530AZTUU3AOF5_CL419809_QB5874412_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 9.27 MB
CP_G530AZTUU3AOF5_CL419809_QB5874412_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 46.34 MB
CSC_AIO_G530AZAIO3AOF5_CL419809_QB5874412_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 17.24 MB
I have not been able to locate them other than for purchase through DLGSM http://www.dlgsm.com, and even then I had no luck in establishing a premium account with them.

Yes its a great phone for the money. The root discovery for this model is currently less than a month old, so not likely.

I'm sorry but, I haven't found a solid answer to the question of will this work with the updated 5.1.1?
If not, where can I find the stock kit kat Cricket rom?
Thank you!
-it'll root but you lose WiFi-Sadness-restored with kies 3 worked.
Does someone have a stock SM-G530AZ Kitkat rom that is flashable via Odin? ...and will it overwrite the current 5.1.1?
Thank you for your time.
To give you a solid answer... Yes allot of people have the stock firmware but you most likely won't find it here. Try asking around where I found the stock files (link is in the first post). Save yourself and don't ask them for a "kit kat rom".. Ask about the specific firmware or file name for your phone.. You can flash back, but you better ready and have a solid understanding on how to reflash everything including re-initiating the radios, and security. (The process is detailed on the site where I got the files). Most of the people on that site use special hardware or "boxes" to extract the files, or pay a vendor for the OEM files. So don't be surprised if someone chooses not to share the files.. (I also listed a place to buy the files in the first post). Good Luck.

Hey what exactly did you flash to get the wifi working again ? I am now without mine i also have the cricket version. I extracted the boot.img file from stock_kernel_by_911.tar with flashify as described, I am thinking you did something a bit different?
Hey I'm trying to figure out exactly how to do this without breaking my phone.... can tell me if this sounds right for my SM-G530A? First I DL KingRoot v4.62 'one click root' APK, and use to root phone. Then, before rebooting, I use flashify to flash The 'Stock kernal' after extracting to boot.img.... My Question is after extracting the BL... , CSC... , and CP..., .md5 files what do I do with them? any help would be great....-Thanks

hey bro i just got it today at cricket store for like 79 bucks right now, the root will work, but gotta make sure you have the right boot.img to flash or wifi will not come on, also i tried to flash a custom recovery that a friend is working on just to see if it would work at all and i got the same dumbass fail that rooting would give about custom software that is not allowed blah blah blah, so if anyone else has this issue after testing a recovery or the likes i wanted to post something that will save your butt in the event you flash a recovery to test and it happens to you as well then you need to download
HTML:
https://mega.nz/#!ARhVBZTI!H5c9vf4yBszjbd94V6rBSoT7xjVy2X42EL0oFSVDZAI
then reboot your phone to download mode by holding power with vol down and home button then when you get prompt press vol up now in dl mode plug up to your usb on pc and with odin click the pda button and select the file you just downloaded with pda checked now press start let it flash and if successful you will get the device to reboot again just remember this only fixes you if you flashed a bad recovery or your testing recoveries and they throw the error. I just posted this in hopes of saving someone else a little time from repacking the backup recovery.img to tar.md5 as that is how it has to be for odin to read it as dumb as that is.
So, I used this guide to root my dad's Go Prime, SM-G530A , and I ran into issues such as, Wifi not wrong after which I fixed using Odin and the stock kernel image, getting alot of "Unfortunately, App has stopped." like the Google Play store, contacts and more, and finally, Kingroot rooted the phone once for two or three reboots and then root was gone after that plus don't suggest reinstalling KingRoot because adb install gives this error "install_failed_missing_shared_library".
Now what do I do now? Odin flash the files, if so, In what order, new odin's tabs are different like BL, AP, CP,CSC , and UMS.
EDIT: Alright, I looked at the files and the beginning of the files show CL, CSC, AP and BL but what about UMS and what do you do with these files?

AP_G530AUCU4AOI7_CL828509_QB6433914_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 1.54 GB
BL_G530AUCU4AOI7_CL828509_QB6433914_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 16 MB
CP_G530AUCU4AOI7_CL828509_QB6433914_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 46.99 MB
CSC_ATT_G530AATT4AOI7_CL828509_QB6433914_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 13.97 MB

I am now downloading the kitkat firmware as well, in case anyone wants to go back to kitkat I will post as soon as possible the host of firmware files is rather slow, but once i got it all i will post it up.
I'm in search of firmware for the S4 running 4.3 or 4.4. I haven't gotten this phone yet but verizon is selling it through Walmart on prepaid. I know the firmware isn't gonna be the same as if it was on contract verizon. I have the S3 right now and it's prepaid. Many argued that there wasn't a NF5 firmware but turns out there is and i used it many times to fix soft bricks on the S3 using Odin. So I'm pretty sure the prepaid side of the S4 will have different firmware then one on contract verizon would have. So that being said, does anyone have 4.3,4.4 or even 5.0 firmware they can share that will work with Odin? Not sure if the S4 got the 5.0 update. Just assuming it did. Any help is appreciated!
Anyone? Please?
If no one can then someone at least tell me how it direct me to where I can make a tar or md5 firmware out of adb pulls of the system an stuff?

OK never mind. I need 5.0.1 firmware. Not 4.3 or 4.4. Any help would be great
I can't think of any reason as to why post paid firmware would be different than prepaid. You can use the phone for either.
And you're posting jn the wrong forum, which is probably why nobody is helping you. Because you didn't bother to read the rules before posting.
Try the general section or Android development section. Click the search button and type firmware. I'm sure you'll find it faster than it took you to make all these posts. Good luck
still no help

I think what sob372 was saying is the hardware in the phone is the same as the contract so you can just follow the SCH-I545 stuff and it will work.
being that I just got this same phone S4 prepaid used I'll be playing with it to root it, install safestrap and probably downgrade it from Lollipop to Kitkat. So I'll let you know if you don't find more here by searching and I'm sure there are relevant posts if you dig around a bit.
BTW the S4 PP does have a SIM slot.

It just seems really sketchy to do with the contract firmware. Like I get the feeling that if I flash the firmware from contract, I'll lose any cell phone service under prepaid. I just don't want to end up with a big paper weight. The modules could be different. With the S3 I had which was prepaid also. I used safestrap and superlite rom was the best one I got to work with the prepaid version. The system always kept crashing but it would load if I put it under stock an not a rom slot. I had to get the i535pp module to fix the Wi-Fi problem but if I had no service cause of the sim issue then I didn't want it. Also I'm not sure but I think there is no safe strap for the s4 running lollipop. I believe the forum said it would cause bootloops if you tried. Just like you need to deodex for xposed cause of the changes in art

If you can confirm all is in working order with the contract firmware (can't remember what the build is) with the prepaid phone, I'll give it a go.
Update
A member already tried the OC1 postpaid firmware on the prepaid. They said all works but the camera and charging don't work. So that's out of the question
I been looking around on the net and best I've come up with is backing up the firmware. I tried using flash fire to get back ups of every partition. Then I used Odin package creator to try an make a firmware file to use with Odin but when I tried it out in Odin, it stopped at data so I took out my personal data then it stopped at something with number 3 at the end. Can't recall what it was. So if anyone can test more on this to have any luck. Maybe then we can get the firmware out to people in case sammobile decides not to or takes another year to release it
I've been trying a different approach to getting a copy of the OH7 firmware. I've been attempting to use Fiddler4 + the Verizon Wireless Software Upgrade Assistant tool that comes on my phone (Verizon Prepaid Galaxy S4 model SCHI-545KPP) to get a download link to the original rom file... I can't get the bloody link to download with Fiddler or an internet browser, as i get a 403 forbidden error. I'll keep trying, maybe I can find the downloaded file in my temp files while attempting to recover my phone? It will take some time but I'll keep trying.
*update* So I located where the Verizon Wireless Software Upgrade Assistant stores its files (compressed and extracted). The location is C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Verizon_AR .
I unfortionally didn't figure this out until after I royally soft bricked my phone. Right now I have a OF1 recovery installed on the phone, and the assistant keeps trying to install the OF1 firmware (and it fails). If anyone could check that folder for the OH7 firmware, or post a backup of the OH7 recovery, you'd be doing me a huge favor. I think we'll have the OH7 firmware after this one way or another.
*edit* This is 100% confirmed now. C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Verizon_AR\SCH-I545_I545VRUGOF1_FACTORY\decrypt produced a zip file that is 100% identical to the OF1 firmware zips out there. This decrypt subfolder didn't appear until after the file was completely downloaded, and the Software Repair Assistant had started to try and flash the rom. This data is deleted after the phone completes flashing (or fails to flash). If you select "delete" after this information is downloaded, the encypted rom file is deleted and you must start all over again.
If someone could check that folder who has used the Verizon Wireless Software Upgrade Assistant to recover their phone, using the tool on your phone again and you'll get the decrypt folder... if you zip/rar that folder, we'll finally have the backup files we can post somewhere.
the PP phone uses the same firmware as the normal one that guy that tried it
did something wrong
just flash the OF1 tar via odin and be done with it

I'm trying out your idea. If i can get the file them I'll upload it. If not, I'll still be able to at least send you a back up of the oh7 recovery. Mines all still stock. Id hate to get stuck with a paperweight until the correct firmware is released. That's why I'm careful lol. The firmware is downloading right now. It says it's a enc4 file though. Maybe just cause its downloading at the moment. I'll just wait an see an I'll let you know

A few people who used of1 on the pp version had issues. Not one came out with no issues far as i know. So I'd rather be safe then sorry. Not saying your incorrect but I'm just trying to play it safe and careful. Appreciate the input though

Yes, while it is downloading it will be a .enc4 file. Even after downloading it will stay like that, but when you got to actually flash the file, it will decrypt and the encrypted version will appear in that /decrypt folder.

so im confused. do i need the encrypted or decrypted file for it to work with odin? i tried changing the file to zip format and open it with winrar after it downloaded in the software but it came up as an unknown archive or damaged. so im not sure what im doing wrong but ill keep trying
UPDATE: i have tried getting the file through verizons handy tool and i did get the decrypted folder along with the unzip folder during it was finishing up repairing my s4. i just copied the file from the decrypted folder and extracted it during the repair. so now im using odin 3.10.7 and testing it out now to see if it will flash successfully. if all goes well, i will make new thread with the firmware link inside it so users dont need to scroll through pages to find the link. first anyone know a good or popular upload storage i can use to upload the firmware to for others to use? i tried uploading onto here but i keep getting a connection timeout
UPDATE 2: ive got it! i made the firmware of OH7! finally. you can go ahead and head over to this thread TheXev. use it and youll be back to stock

Thank you so much. I was close to taking this phone back and not getting another simply because I really need a phone to replace my S3 for tethering soon. But if you got the firmware, I can flash it back to working order, and hopefully get some deodexed roms (that way I can install Xposed framework). Thanks again!
