Step 1:
Download the recovery firmware for your model from here http://www.tsar3000.com/Joomla/inde...ader-csc-pit-files&catid=55:samsung&Itemid=82 which includes the BL, CP, CP, CSC images, and unzip it. MAKE SURE IT IS THE KITKAT FIRMWARE.

Go to www.sammobile.com and download the original firmware for your device and unzip it. MAKE SURE IT IS THE KITKAT FIRMWARE.
Step 3:
Reboot into Recovery Mode by pressing Volume UP + Home + Power buttons.
Step 4:
Wipe data/factory reset and also wipe cache.
Step 5:
Reboot into Download Mode by pressing Volume DOWN + Home + Power until you get the download screen. Press Volume UP to continue.
Step 5:
In Odin make sure you load the files you downloaded in STEP 1. Load only the BL, AP, CP, CSC files (do not load the PIT) and make sure that you also check "Phone Bootloader Update". Then press Start. Wait for flashing to finish.
Note:
The phone should have booted properly, since the correct bootloader was flashed!
Step 6:
Go to Odin again. Now load the firmware you downloaded in STEP 2. This time load only the AP file and uncheck "Phone Bootloader Update" and press Start. Wait for flashing to finish.
Note:
The phone should have booted properly.
Step 7:
Repeat step 3 and 4, and reboot!

@jnvdh06,first thank you for this great tutorial, second,I have 2 questions :
1. does this process require root ?
2.does this process void knox warranty ?
thanks in advance
No root is required.
In theory it should not trip Knox as you are sticking to official firmwares
did exactly this like one month ago, can attest it works. Didn't trip knox

Afraid of kdz updater , here is an alternative to flash rom and recovery
Note: Donot use this method from emergency mode unless you already have a backup of your nv
Note: using this prodcedure there should be no disconnection of phone or power cut.
Using this method you can flash "stock rom + custom recovery" or "stock rom + stock recovery"
DO THIS ON YOUR OWN RISK, I WILL HAVE NO LIABILITY IF YOU BRICK YOUR PHONE !!!
download lgmdp : Download Here
1. disable lg modem
( in right click mycomputer->manage->device manager->modems->right click on lg modem disable it)
2. now connect your phone to pc.
3. start lgdmp
4. click "select port"
Phone will be automatically detected press "connect"
(close the pop up window of image select generally you will get it on connect of lgmdp)
5. backup nv for safety (tools->nv backup)
6. After backup , store this nv file somewhere in computer (and remember where you stored lol..)
7. close lgmdp
Now download stockrom+customrecovery
Download v10e ROM(unrooted)(2.2.2) with cwm recovery: Download Here_v10e
(or)
Download v20c ROM(unrooted)(2.3.3) with cwm recovery: Download Here_v20c
Step 1. Extract (use "extract here" for a noob)the downloaded file stockrom+customrecovery
(be sure you have extracted without error in zip extraction and you have all 13 files in extracted folder)
To flash stock rom + custom recovery skip step 2 and follow from step 3 to step 7.
To flash stock rom + stock recovery follow from step 2 to step 7 (including step 3).
Now the extracted folder has stock rom + custom recovery.
Step 2:
2. (a) Download stock_recovery for v10e: Download Here_recovery_v10e
(or) Download stock_recovery for v20c: Download Here_recovery_v20c
(make sure you downloaded correct recovery according to Rom you downloaded)
2. (b) extract the downloaded zip file -> you get recovery.img (this is stock recovery)
2. (c) Now copy this recovery.img file and paste in folder of "stockrom+customrecovery" (which you extracted previously in Step 1) {as their is already a recover.img file in folder it will be copy and replace "for noobs", in this step you replace custom recovery with stock recovery}
Click to collapse
Step 3: start lgdmp
Step 4. click "select port"
Phone will be automatically detected press "connect"
Step 5. select the extracted folder "stockrom+custom recovery" as "image folder or image select" in lgmdp
Step 6. Select "Erase EFS APPS" in drop down box of "NVBackup/Restore"
(Caution : donot select other options they might stuck your phone in air plane mode with no gsm )
Step 7. press start or download
DONOT DISCONNECT YOUR MOBILE UNTILL IT SHOWS DOWNLOAD COMPLETE AT BOTTOM
it shows in middle trying to connect to phone etc. donot touch the phone it will be automatically connect everytime.
After download complete you are done with procedure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you want to flash any other stock rom (kdz) file from lgmdp (Check this url)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note : Creating nv with different imei is illegal.
For people who messed up with nv, lost their nv follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=534704 to create nv.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NV will be automatically restored at the end before you see download complete.
If any error occured while restore of nv
follow below steps to restore nv
put the nv file which you backed up in first part of procedure in this order*
create new folder
- rename folder: <your_imei_(on_which_nv2_is_created)>
- create new folder in <your_imei_(on_which_nv2_is_created)>
named <port no.> on which your phone is connected
(ex:for com4 name folder as " _COM_4_" (without quotes), you can find
port number when you click on "select port" when connecting mobile to
lgmdp under port column.)
- now place nv2 file in this folder <port no.>
- so now u r nv2 file is in
" \<your_imei_(on_which_nv2_is_created)>\<port no.>\ "
- now place lgmdp.exe and <your_imei_(on_which_nv2_is_created)> in
new folder
- start lgmdp
- "select port"
- "connect"
- press "NV Restore"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank yoooou!
I cannot express my thanks to you enough. I have been trying to fix my phone for 9 hours now, and every fix I tried didn't work at all. Then I come around to this post thinking "What have I got to lose?" and this is the ONLY fix that WORKED! I still have a thing here or there to figure out for my phone, but I have most functionality back!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Dear Mak,
I did everything as stated (step 1 and 3). Everything went smoothly and after i saw the message "download completed" I quit the lgdmp and switched on my phone. the problem is that it is stuck at the "android screen" and does not do anything else. its just continously showing the flashing android logo. Please help! Thanks in advance!

Donot worry your phone is not bricked, It takes time for first boot sometimes may be around 10 min or so.
Which recovery wer u using ?
custom (skiped step 2) or stock (followed step 2) ?,
if you flashed custom recovery boot into recovery (long press {home+volume down+power} buttons simultaneously) and do "wipe data/factory reset" then "reboot system" ?
Do you have stored that nv file mentioned in first part of procedure ?
If stuck at logo screen, remove battery and start as mak said, (long press {home+volume down+power} buttons .
Worked for me !
My question now is... can i safely update to 2.3.3 romania firmware through the official LG mobile update tool ?
Thanks

My phone was locked to orange and I thought it would be unlocked after doing sotck rom+custom recovery. I did follow all the steps for step 1 and step 3, but now when Im inserting other sim, it still shows that the phone is network locked. Can you suggest me what to do now? I just want to unlock it and dont know what to do.
Thanks once again, you are a hero!

Let me save you some time: you won't find such information here. Not because it's forbidden or illegal, but simply because it can't be done at software level.
What you need is to find an online service that unlocks your phone via some code they will provide based on your IMEI. There's no way you will find such service for free - if you do, please drop me a message with a link - but at least it will be a hell of a lot cheaper than asking your provider to do it.
Thanks Mak, I had to pay £10 to get the unlock code for my phone. Its working like a charm! Thank you all! You guys are saviours!

Just replace the recovery.img file, and keep the partition.mbn as it is and flash by same steps as mentioned in this thread.
Is the v10e provided for download an Indian froyo version
Bit Confused....
I think u have made a mistake in labelling the section. At the bottom, where you have titled "To back up nv follow below steps". Isn't that part suppose to be the restoring part? And the top part is the backup part. Am I right or am I just confused?

■Explanation By Arter97
The Old_SBoot.tar includes sboot.bin(bootloader) from older Android Lollipop firmware, which allows us to use custom recovery that uses Android L kernel.
After we boot on the custom recovery, we can root.
But since the newer Android M kernel is not compatible with older sboot.bin, we have to re-install the newer sboot.bin. The New_SBoot.tar.md5 serves that purpose.
If you need stock recovery for some reason, use recovery.tar from http://arter97.com/browse/S6/M/root
You will not be able to get future Android M firmware updates after you follow this guide. You must re-install stock firmware to do that.
You have to repeat installing Old_SBoot.tar.md5 and New_SBoot.tar.md5 if you want to use custom recovery.
If you are stuck on the "Galaxy S6 edge" boot logo, or reboots, try re-installing New_SBoot.tar.md5
so this is rooting method for s6 edge g925f, yes?

12. Do not select "Yes - root" option, if PhilZ Touch recovery asks you to root your device.
13. Right after the screen goes black, hold down <Volume down> + <Power button> + <Home button> for 5+ seconds and re-enter download mode.
13.1. Make sure "Auto-reboot" is checked from ODIN's options menu.
14. Install New_SBoot.tar.md5
15. During the first boot-up after installing SuperSU, your device will reboot once.
16. Done!
■Deepsleep Fix By wanam
●Download xxxxxxxxx.txt from the download section then go to /su/su.d and place it there and reboot ( It might not work on the first reboot )
If you need stock recovery for some reason, use recovery.tar from http://arter97ㅗㅠ.com/browse/S6/M/root
You will not be able to get future Android M firmware updates after you follow this guide. You must re-install stock firmware to do that.
You have to repeat installing Old_SBoot.tar.md5 and New_SBoot.tar.md5 if you want to use custom recoveryㅔ
If you are stuck on the "Galaxy S6 edge" boot logo, or reboots, try re-installing New_SBoot.tar.md5

Samsung S6 Edge (SM-G925F) Android 6.0
Hi, I have followed these steps to try and install Android 6.0 on my device, but it keeps getting into a bootloop and won't boot up, has anyone got a fix for this or got the Android 6.0 (SM-G925F) file to flash with Odin and point me in the right direction.
Would appreciate any help.
Thanks

Okay inflashed the old bootloader, went to recovery and flashed xposed. After this I flashed back the new bootloader and all good. Only problem is that the deep sleep fix seems not work.
After download the fix it's called 000000deepsleep.txt but in this tutorial it says xxxxxxxxxx.txt. Do I need to rename it?
Code:
/*
* Your warranty is now void.

* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if

Hello. In your older tutorial, you also mention that we need to modify the boot.img. But in this one, it is taken out. I bought this phone recently and I don't want to update to nugat. All I want to do is to install twrp and get root privileges (I will probably just install magisk). So do I need to modify the boot.img or not? Why is it not included in this tutorial but the old one?
Thanks.

You can follow the old guide if you are in marshmallow OS ( 6.0.1 ). But please I don't hesitate you if you break your phone ( don't blame on in me if you're gone ). But please backup your phone before doing that risky thing. You can backup your phone by searching on google how to.
I don't include the modify boot.img in this guide because it will cause boot loop or soft brick. In nougat area modifying boot.img can brick your phone. So I don't put the old one to this new one.

Don't worry dude, I won't blame you if I brick my phone I have been doing this for many years now, don't worry, this is not my first modified android phone.
So I will not modify the boot.img, I will just unlock the bootlader and flash TWRP and Magisk. That is all I am going to do. I already downloaded all the tools necessary to revert back to stock and all. I think I am set. All I need is my new phone now, which hasn't arrived yet Thanks for the answers.

I have a Samsung Galaxy SII ( GT-I9100 ) which was retrieved from a dumpster. I love the removable battery. I would like to know what custom firmware you recommend for it. I could also use any tutorials you recommend to flash it. I have looked at some but I wonder which is best for my requirements:
* The latest Android release is unimportant (I can live with Android 5.0 to be honest)
* Having Google bundled apps is unimportant (all Google apps will be uninstalled, if present).
* I want the good reliability / stability and no alpha or beta releases.
I am only interested in root access & reliable firmware with which I can install open-source apps from f-droid.org. Thanks for any suggestions.

Another opportunity for you would be replicant. It is based on LineageOS, but tries to run on free-software only and a mainlined kernel. They don't ship with any google apps and and offer Android 6 (currently upgrading to Android 9 for all of their devices.
You will need modified TWRP to flash this and do not ask me why.
You need odin 3.07 as it is the last version of odin that supports S II.
Odin 3.07 https://odindownloader.com/download/odin3-v3-07
Update offically to 4.1.2, Delete All Samsung and Google accounts, go to settings and phone information, click 7 times build number(Just randomly click All numbers 7x and you will eventually done), go back to settings, click on developer Options, and toggle BOTH oem unlock and USB debugging.

I downloaded both the Replicant files and the Lineage files. I had a look at replicant and the set-up seems to be a lot more invovled, so I have decided to do Lineage first. The firmware download size with Replicant is much less bloated, which appeals to me, especially for older hardware. So I will probably try that eventually.

I gave it a quick attempt yesterday. In Developer Options I found "USB debugging" but there was no "OEM Unlock" setting anywhere. In any case, I proceeded:
Odin says:
All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 0)
I'm led to believe I need to get the Samsung drivers so I will do that later today. I have read that installing Kies installs the drivers so maybe that's the best route.

I will give you a alternative way. first, update to 4.1.2
then, install rashr https://m.apkpure.com/root-rashr-flash-tool/de.mkrtchyan.recoverytools but do not open it . you need to install it first because Otherwise installation will be blocked by kingroot.
then you guessed that root by kingroot https://kingroot.en.uptodown.com/android
Tutorial https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...BMAF6BAgIEAE&usg=AOvVaw3cA8ZHKR3yqQaY6NvHnO4I
Then you can open rashr. download this TWRP as rashr only flashes.img files. https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=8889791610682894303
select RECOVERY FROM STORAGE and select the .img TWRP.
it will ask you to reboot recovery .
in recovery you wipe All in advanced wipe except microsd and USB otg. Then transfer the .zip rom to phone by dumping it into internal storage using a computer. Flash it by flash button and selecting the zip, but do not Install gapps. select Reboot and Pay attention here: Do not install TWRP app! Uncheck All prompt to install TWRP app and reboot system.

Not sure. I haven't put a SIM card in this thing at all. Does having no OEM Unlock option mean that it's locked to a single carrier? I literally found this phone in the dumpster and I will be using it on wi-fi (occasionally) and offline (mostly).
Re: Kingroot
Not keen on this at all since I have read it is malware.

GT-I9100. There is no G
I will try with Samsung drivers later tonight & see if the first method works. I am not keen on many of those 'easy' rooting apps, but I appreciate the help. I have big trust issues with them.
glad to see that, also one click root apps can do whatever they want like installing a malicious app without permission and hack device, though I bite the bullet and tried on my xperia c.
very reasonable doubt
Lineage is installed. However, it is still unrooted. Does anyone have any tips for getting this rooted?
=======
* I have tried the Magisk app and patching "boot.img" several times. That resulted in an error: Unsupported / invalid file, or words to that effect.
* I have tried downloading the Magisk zip file using the Magisk app. I tried flashing that freshly-downloaded Magisk zip file in TWRP. No go. Error: 1
* I have tried downloading various Magisk zip files off Github and flashing in TWRP. No go. Error: 1
* I have tried the official TWRP app that seemed to insist on downloading an official I9100 TWRP file. I flashed this TWRP file using my existing TWRP Recovery. After that, I couldn't get into Recovery at all (using the 3 finger salute). It would always just boot LineageOS instead.
=======
So I decided to start-over. I started up Odin again and started from scratch. I have spent most of the day dicking-around here. Now I am back to having LineageOS installed without root again. I tried Magisk again. No go. Same error 1. Still no root.
I can't recall a time where installing custom firmware and rooting was 100% smooth. Even when flashing in Odin all the checkboxes were greyed-out, so I couldn't even select an option if I tried. I don't know why.
Anyway, any tips to get root are greatly appreciated! SuperSU?:

You could either try heimdall (alternativ to odin, if odin does not work for you: https://www.glassechidna.com.au/heimdall/
or even try CF-Autoroot: https://desktop.firmware.mobi/

OxygenOS 11.3 A.15 EU Full Stock Firmware for OnePlus Nord 2Requirements :
ADB & Fastboot + Google & MTK drivers
Partitionsbackupper ( @Raygen )
A.15 Firmware ( @AssoDiPicche )
Instructions :
Download the .zip and the latest version of PartitionsBackupper.
Download A.15 Firmware, extract it and put all files in the PartitionsBackupper folder.
Reboot your phone in fastboot mode (Power off, than power button + volume down)
Run PartitionsBackupper.bat, choosing the restore option, to flash all partitions with fastboot.
I reccomend to do a full data format with the stock recovery before going back messing around. It usually wipes better than TWRP.
Type on command line "fastboot flashing lock"
Enjoy your brand new OPNord2.

Change your ADB tool. try "Tiny ADB and Fastboot".

Can i reflash stock oxygenOS rom and return completely stock without locking the bootloader? I flashed elixir, but the wifi doesn't work, so i would like to turn on stock, maybe doing root and installing magisk, viper ecc... Is there a complete oxygen that i can flash with maybe sideload on twrp or things like that?

If you use this, you must unlock bootloader and install twrp aftet that.
I did it, and the bat told me he flashed everything without problem, but then it rebooted me to twrp, and my bootloader is still unlocked, but most importantly, when i go "reboot system" it stays on oneplus logo and no os start... So I'm semi bricked now without OS, at least I have twrp to make some experiment... ideas? I retry the same thing?
Edit: the phone booted... with Elixir OS (?) so nothing changed, still my wifi and bluetooth don't work...

Try ask in "nord 2 community" telegram group. They are really helpful.
Try to press 1 botton. And use image of dn2103.zip
Don't try restore your backup file. Try restore file unzipped of a.15 firmware, and you return to stock and lock bootloader
Hi! I have a some problem! The first part of the firmware is fine, and after a reboot this happens
Same problem here.
Error with flashboot command.
Please put the "PartitionsBackup" folder with all the partition images in the same directory of this script.

I have tried this and it worked, partly. The process stopped on flashing vendor and nothing happened for hours. So I disconnected the phone and it boots fine. I can set up everything, but updates fails. It's now on A15 and will not update. I have also tried to lock the bootloader again, but then the phone won't boot at all, something about an error to boot/system. If I unlock the bootloader, it works again.
Something is clearly wrong here. How can I restore my device back to full working stock again?
I was on A17 before installing TWRP + PixelExperience Rom. But when I wanted to return to stock all hell broke loose

I've got the same error! Trying to restore my phone from a PixelExperience overheating and camera nightmare
Should I "Read Partitions" in mtkclient only the ones that are present in mtkclinet and not the A.15 firmware file?
Thanks a lot, this really saved me!
After flashing I got error: "The current image(boot/recovery have been destroyed and can not boot."
And here is how I got around that:
It was possible to boot into fastboot mode only after shutting down the phone first. (from recovery)
And then pressing the key combination while powering up.
Then I ran "fastboot flashing unlock" to get around that "error with fastboot command".
and then I flashed boot and vbmeta with the fastboot command. After that It finally booted.
Then I locked the bootloader and installed all the updates.
