Hey guys,
I just recently got myself an M4 Aqua. I checked settings and it gives me model E2353. This phone is network locked to SMART telecommunications here in the Philippines. Doing some researched, I checked it's IMEI online and imei.info tells me that I have model E2303.
I want to downgrade from version 26.1.A.2.167 to 26.1.A.1.112 so I can install TWRP and Root the phone. Question now is, which firmware to download? The one for E2353 or E2303?
Also, any clues on how to get this bad boy sim unlocked? Thanks guys!
Anyone? Please?
Not much help,
Only info i have found and assuming the yours is 16gb with dual sim? that would be the only difference between the 2 models.

If you dont already have it, You can download flashtools and then use the built in Xperifirm to download 26.1.a.1.112/R2A ( international Commercial and Journalists ) Firmware.
if your settings say E2353 then that is the firmware you need to download.
Hi,
Don't worry. check gsmarena with your model (E2353) - it show the internal storage (8GB,16GB) and Sim info (single sime , dual sim).
if there is nothing different with your phone , you are good to go! also you can install pc companion from sony and check the phone with that.
Mine is E2333 with 16GB flash, dual sim but the online checks show me wrong information and i already updated the phone 4 times!

I have the single sim, 8gb version.
Thanks for the replies guys. I'll be going ahead and downloading the E2353 26.1.A.1.112 / R2A Commercial and Journalists Firmware.
1 more question, if I flash this, do I get sim unlocked? Thanks again!

Thank you Hitman! I've been researching for days on how to sim unlock my phone. Haven't had much progress cause internet here in the Philippines sucks. Add to that the fact that I also live on a very remote island. Estimated time to finish download of the firmware = 19hrs. LOL. *sigh* Thanks again!

Hey all, I've hit a bit of a snag. FlashTool seems to be acting up on me and I've no idea why. I've got the latest version of the program. Here's a list of things along with pictures attached to show you what's going on.
Picture 1 & 2: When I connect my device, my computer & flashtool recognizes it which should also mean that I've got the drivers installed properly right?
I've download this E2353 firmware from h t t ps://userscloud.com/p4m0v8k4czmf
Picture 3 & 4: But when I select the firmware on Flashtool, it shows firmware for E2303, M2 Aqua. What? Why?!
Picture 5: I go through anyway, disconnect the phone, hold the volume down button & reconnect. Boom. Drivers need to be installed ERROR.
What am I doing wrong guys? Any suggestions? Please and thanks!
It's the wrong firmware. The right firmware should be on xperifirm and you should have no problems
Yea, it's the wrong firmware. Also, have you disabled driver signature verification because i see you are using windows 8 ?

you should change the CDA to Vietnam and let PC companion do the job. Never have any problem till now in my HK model with VN firmware
Noticed this rom does not flash the .510 kernal.
I flash the kernal only found here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45070025&postcount=389) and everything is now working

vroot is a way to root ur ZU without unlocking BL. Have a look at the thread titled "root step by step" or similarly, page 2, there's a link to download it. But it's in Chinese, and you REALLY have to figure out how to use it, or we in VN call it "đoán mò" ^^

it is a utilities to help you root the ZU. Download link here: http://www.mgyun.com/vroot
very easy to use, just download, install, put your phone on usb debugging mode and enable unknown source, connect to pc, run vroot and CLICK ON THE GREEN BUTTON, and you're done haha.
After that you should install SuperSU from Google Play and than use Titanium Backup to disable (freeze) the Chinese Super user.
I've flashed .510 firmware to my Z Ultra. I got problem, i can't turn on wifi.

I am curious to know how the kernel was created since I was told that Sony devices will only flash signed images. Does the bootloader need to be unlocked to flash the kernel?
after flashing your FTF i pluged back my phone on the PC and PC companion asked me to update my phone to 14.1.B.1.510 ^^, also can't turn on wifi. Hope after update it'll do.

Yes, this is something like that, and the reason people can't turn on Wifi as well, so I think basically PC companion realise that you installed a wrong firmware, and so propose you to update signed for your device.
After updating phone working perfectly, Wifi turn on and phone really is fast
Hello everyone.
I will donate £20 to anyone that can find out what the issue is with my phone.
Here is the story!!
As soon as I got my Z Ultra I unlocked the bootloader and rooted the handset. I ran a couple of custom roms and a custom kernel. I then decided to sell the phone to my local CEX, but they wouldn't take it because it was rooted.
So when I got home I flashed a stock FTF through flashtool and now the phone will not find any sim card inserted. It took any Sim before I flashed the stock ftf.
I have tried different FTF versions and i'm getting the same thing. Does anyone know what has caused this or how to fix it? I will donate £20 to anyone that finds the answer.
PLEASE, PLEASE HELP.
Thank You.
Adam
is the imei valid at the moment?
Have a read of this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2593918
and you could think about using this https://mega.co.nz/#!J1FTTJbL!P2CrLYMRBQnScakdHK1wdc6bTsk07kVggbzDTlctoVw to install the newest baseband if that or imei is not recognised in 'about phone'
I'll take a look. Thanks. I will get back to you if this works and pay you £20.00 for your trouble.

Ok so I downgraded and rerooted. I then tried flashing the baseband in that link and i'm still getting "Please insert sim and restart the phone"
I've also tried updating to this rom:

So i'm now currently rooted running 4.2.2 on 14.3.A.0.757
I just don't understand how flashing software can be causing this problem

Lol. Yes. Thank you for your helpful suggestion
Sounds like it's the sim tray make sure inserted properly and not using any other sim adapters.Did you force the sim accidentally maybe that damaged the pins? If that fails try and flash it via sony companion software.Maybe just maybe the guy at cex I know they test them maybe he forced the sim and bent the pins whilst testing did it stop working after you had it back from them? If yes I would knock on their door.Hope you get it sorted

Does the score really vary so much?

Ota can take a bit of time, but you don't need to root if you're just going to flash firmware.. You can either use flashtool or newflasher read here ( https://www.google.com/amp/s/forum....-newflasher-xperia-command-line-t3619426/amp/ ) if you go the newflasher route just download xperia firm to get your firmware.
