Stopped charging besides Qi charge. - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
I recently bought a S6 Edge for my little brother (1 week ago).
As he returned from school in the weekend (Boardschool) I surprised him with a fully charges S6 Edge (Left it charging for a day).
As monday he went back to school (They can only use the phones in their rooms) he left it charging monday night)
The phone was not charged teusday morning. (using the original charger and OTG cable).
He tried with his laptop, another power plug and nothing worked.
This weekend now I tried with a Qi charger and it started charing.
After a full night Qi charing his phone is at 100%
The phone doesnt get detected by my computer either. Seems like the microUSB port is broken, but he barely had the phone... And you know how you handle a brand new expensive phone, right?
I checked for dust, nothing changed.
Im not in the mood to send the phone back right now, so I wonder if anyone encountered this problem and maybe fixed it.
Thanks,
PV-

same thing just happened to me..did you find a fix by any chance?

same as you body, but i dident want to go in repair shop because i dont want to open my phone so i decided to buy a wireless charger and is working good until now with a little problem that is a slow way to charge a phone In a mean time if you dont have a wireless charger try to turn off your phone and plugged in charger repeat this until it works because my S6 sometimes it works sometimes not (alternative buy a battery case)... hope i was helpful for you, have great day.

My charger died!

I used my charger like 3 times everything was fine until the last time ,I left it over night and in the morning I check the tablet it shows its charging but it did not charge at all over nite .
I called Google they said I need to send back the charger with the tablet and they going to send me a new tablet.
Its ridiculous!
I told her my tablet works fine I just need a charger , but she said they can't just send me a charger only.
So I'm gonna buy a charger online or just use my phone charger until the OEM one becomes available.
Nice experience.......
That does kind of suck; I might recommend contacting Samsung directly if you need to, but they might just redirect you to Play Store support...
There might be a reason as to why they can't just replace the charger; maybe the tablet and charger serials are linked in some way, not sure though.
If your tablet doesn't have any issues I wouldn't risk swapping it as you might end up with a POS like in my case.

Silly question but have you tried charging with another cable to confirm the tablet does indeed charge and nothing wrong with tablet also?

Thanks for the reply guys. !
Yes I tryd an other cable I use for my phone and it workd I'm not sure what happened the first time I tryd with the a different cable,
Anyhow it charged last night .
Some reason it's seems like it charges faster with this short HTC cable I have .
When I plugged in with the original cable it was showing its charging but in the morning it was not charged ..... so I have no idea what was wrong....
I told the Google person that my tablet is working fine there was no way I would risk my unit to get a other one maybe I get a defective one for a replacement who knows.. But anyhow the charger is working now so its all good.

Wireless charging probkems

Hey guys just wanted to share some of my frustrations. First off I love this phone and HTC products but I have the worst luck. I've had the DNA since release day as well as the nokia wireless charger. My first phone stopped charging via the wireless charger 3 weeks in. I tried switching power outlets and a master reset and the phone would still not charge from the pad. Took it in to a Verizon store and tested it on a known good wireless charger and would not charge so they sent me a replacement. That phone worked fine till a few days ago when it stopped charging from the wireless charger. I contacted Verizon and they sent me a replacement wireless charger and I tried it out today and it still won't charge. They are sending me out a replacement phone which is nice. I called HTC about my problem and told them everything that had happened and the woman told me that they don't support wireless charging, that it was third party, and as long as it charged from the wall there was nothing that could be done. Are any of you guys having problems like me?

I too am having intermittent problems. I assumed it was the nokia fatboy

Sounds to me like the girl from HTC doesn't know what she's talking about how could they not support wireless charging when its built into the phone? That makes no sense.
Been using the DNA about 2 months using the LG wireless charger provided at Verizon stores with no problems at all so far and I only used the wall charger 3-4 times.
Could be an issue with the nokia charger causing the issue? I guess if that is the case we should see more complaining eventually.
I have had one replacement phone so far because wireless charging quit working. I too have been using the nokia 900. First phone quit charging wirelessly after 3 wks from release day. Had second phone since, still using same wireless charger and no more problems so far. Hope it stays that way!
I'm having a similar issue. I have the Nokia Fatboy pillow and used the charging with no problem for a few weeks. After that the phone recognizes the charger once I put it down but some random amount of time after that, it says it was disconnected and just stops charging until I pick it up and put it back on again. Very frustrating but noticed that it started right after I rooted my phone but not sure how that could be related.

This makes me feel better. I just bought the nokia dt-900 and my DNA was cycling between charging/disconnected. Went to VZW, tested my cell on another Qi charger and they are sending me a new DNA. Hope this does the trick.
I;m having no problems with charging with the orb. It's pretty awesome.
Got my replacement DNA, wireless charging now works perfectly.
kernel issue??
I know that zarboz' beastmode kernel just addressed many wireless charging issues, if you wanna check that out.

I'd like to share my experience with wireless charging. I've had the DNA since mid December and bought my Fatboy at the end of December. This worked rock solid for 3 months or so, always charging to 100%. Then a couple of weeks ago, I started having problems. I would put my phone on the Fatboy and it would start charging, and then quit after a few minutes. This went on for a week and a half or so. Well, the day came when I was going to return my phone and Fatboy to a Verizon store. So right before I was about to leave, I decided to throw the phone on the charger and what do you know. It charged perfectly to 100%. The only thing, that I can think of, that changed was that I did an update to GSAM Battery monitor right before that. So now, for the past week and a half, my phone is charging great again. No issues. So if anyone is having issues and they have GSAM installed, maybe you should update it or uninstall it. I'm not sure if this is the issue but it's worth a try.
On another note. I think one of the best features of this phone is the built in wireless charging. I don't see this mentioned often when people compare the DNA to the HTC One. I like to use my phone without a case, because it looks so good, and the built in wireless charging is a feature I really like. It will always be one of the first things I look for when buying a new phone.
I agree with you on the wireless charging being a great feature. I have the Nexus Orb on my desk, and I bring it home with me and put it on my night table. It's perfect. Charges fast, no wires, my USB cover won't snap off, I can just grab it and run off to a meeting...
I wish all phones had Qi charging abilities more than NFC.
Had to get mine replaced under warranty after 6 months of use. My old thunderbolt still charges on the original LG WCP-7000 pad, but the DNA didn't last.
I've only ever had one possible problem with my Nokia wireless charger. I say possible problem because I'm not sure if it was actually a charger issue or my own stupidity. A few days ago, an hour after i had taken my phone of the charger, i looked at my phone and noticed it was almost dead. For some reason the phone hadn't been charged over night. I could swear it was on the charger, but i can't day for sure. So it could have been my fault.

Mine had slipping problems after cleaning, applying significant pressure, etc until I replaced it. The replacement unit has been much better, with no real problems. Some Orbs are definitely better than others when it comes to adherence, and if you're having an issue get it replaced.

Here's my story:
I got the Nokia DT-900 few months back (Google's orb is not available in India) and had a tough time with my Nexus4, read so many forums on xda, androidcentral and elsewhere to find the right solution. Later realized that Nexus4 isn't fully Qi compatible. Still, from the forums I knew everyfrickinbody has some issue or the other, whether with the Nexus4 or any other Qi phone (like the Nokia Lumia 920, HTC droid, etc.).
Now my old guy, with a couple of other old ones have this high freq inductor/transformer making workshop and I told them I want us to make a wireless charger, and do it right! They said we ain't got the money - ha! I said I don't need no money, I just need ur tech and tools..ur brains and grains! With a grin, it was okay'd And 2 months in, we've got the Qi compatible electronics ready and tested!! Now we just gotta design a good form. We even have a name - Qitah (say cheetah)...hehe, yeah.
Here's are the pain points we've addressed uptil now:
a) Phone Alignment - it's a 3coil configuration that allows free positioning. After all, what's the point of a wireless charger if you still gotta put in effort for the phone to charge
b) Remembering to charge - we realized while brainstorming that the major pain point is not of plugging in a wire with your wall charger..in fact it's remembering to charge your phone daily. Even if I forget to charge once a week, it's kinda disastrous. We are really working hard and smart to tackle this
c) Looks - Apart from the orb, all the other solutions (mostly pads) are uhhgly!! And the orb is so painful with 'sticky' issues. Hey, if the Qitah is to sit on your office/home desk, it better look so frockin awesome yet unintrusive that you feel great about it!
d) Travel/Incline - it's pretty sad that we either have pads or inclines in the market. We are hell bent on coming up with a travel friendly design to get rid of this simple pain point.
Here's where I need all your help..tell us your pain points! tweet "@projecQitah", post on facebook - "projectQitah" and let us know what you want it to be like. I'll be following up on all suggestions/criticisms.
Cheers!
Ok so I am noticing a pattern here and that is Nokia chargers. I have been using an energizer charger for months without problems, although I have had my DNA switched out twice for other issues. I just bought 2 nokia wireless pads since AT&T was selling them crazy cheap, and yesterday was the first full day of use. At the end of the day I went to put my phone on my energizer wireless charger and the blue light (on the charger) turned on, then turned back off. I grabbed my nokia charger and the same thing happened.I have left it off wireless charger all night (plugged in usb) and it seems to be working now. If I have problems again tonight I may be blaming the Nokia charger. Has anyone else had wireless charging fail with a charger made by other than Nokia?
I've had the phone for most three months and have had no troubles with the energizer qi charger I've had for over a year. Use it every night to charge the DNA and Nexus 7.

I've used mine with the 2 Nokia chargers for about 10 months and it has never failed to charge even once. Hoping it stays that way.
I have the same wireless charging issues with my Nokia wireless chargers. I have 2 of them, one works better than the other but on both eventually it stops charging as if I removed it from the plate. I'm 90% sure its a heat issue with the back cover and the back cover warps a little bit. If I put something on the phone (usually another phone) while its on the charging plate to weight it down a little and then it always charges perfectly.
Not an elegant solution by any means but it works. I just ordered a new Rav powered QI charger so I'll let you all know if I see better results (without the paperweight.

Wireless Charger Issue

I recently purchased a Nokia DT-900 Wireless Charging Plate for my Lumia 920, but unfortunately something seems to be going wrong. I tried it the other night, put my phone on the charging plate, the light came on solid and the phone showed it was charging. Woke up the next morning and it hadn't charged at all, the battery went from 80%+ to about 62%. I tried various different "solutions" yesterday with no luck.
Restarted my Lumia 920 several times.
Unplugged the charger and tried a different outlet.
Shifted my phone around trying various positions.
Double checked that it still charges on a regular wired charger (works).
Doesn't seem to matter what I try, it just wont work, even though both the phone and the charger say it's charging. Unfortunately, I don't currently have access to another wireless charger or another wireless charging capable device. I'm hoping to get into AT&T this weekend and see if they have wireless chargers to test with. Does anyone have any other ideas or tips to resolve the issue, or know which one in this scenario most likely has the problem? I really hope it's not the phone. :/
It's really not picky as to where you place the phone on the charger plate. It does sound like a hardware issue. Could be the plate or the phone either one. Good luck on getting it resolved.
I've had that happen. I usually do the soft-reset with Vol-Down & Power, then connect to wired charging. It's some strange state that it seems to get into occasionally.

So after you do the soft-reset, and you plug into a wired charger, do you switch to the wireless charger, or wait till later in the day or anything?

I too had this problem after getting a replacement for my speaker not working, and didn't get the wireless charging issue until my fourteen day
exchange policy was up. So I actually separated my phone to have a look. At the top if the wireless charging coil there are gold contacts that can become loose if the phone is rocked heavily, either dropped or in my case, while still in my pocket at work. I actually very carefully and slightly bent those contacts up towards the phone, then replaced it in the housing. Once I did, I tested to see if the wireless charging worked before putting the screws back in. If all else fails, I'd give that a try bud.

I usually just let it charge for a while on the wired charger, then use wireless sometime later. Once it gets out of the reset loop, I think any charger will work.
My replacement from Amazon arrived today, and unfortunately still no luck with getting my phone to charge. So I'll test out fixing the coil over the weekend.

So I opened my Lumia 920 up today, and unfortunately it looks like two of the 4 little gold contacts are missing. I've got all 4 primary pieces, but only 2 of the actual contacts. I've got a feeling that that's what caused the issue. Think I'll try to send it in for a replacement.

[Q] Fast charging not working

I tried to charge my S6 Edge with the Samsung fast charger that comes in the box but noticed that it charges my phone really slowly. When I plugged my M7's charger to the S6, it showed an estimated 2hr charge time, but when I connected the fast charger, it showed a 5hr estimated charge time. I noticed that it was taking forever to charge.
Anybody else seen this issue? What should be my steps to get it replaced? I bought the phone from BestBuy.
Thank you.
can you post screenshot?
Does it show "fast charging" along with the 5 hours time or not? If it does is probably the charger. If it doesn't it probably the phone. Take it back to best buy to verify.
I have one "Advanced Fast Charger" that will not inspire either of my two S6 Edge phones to report that they are fast-charging.
The other three I have all will, and with all four cables.
The one that won't, doesn't no matter which of the four cables is used.
I contacted Samsung and got an RMA for it. Even though I gave them the part-number for the accessory travel-charger, they insisted that I go to the "menu" on the charger and give them a six-digit code.
I suggested several times that the charger had no menu, but the (web-chat person) kept asking for it. Finally I told them the menu on the charger wasn't working either so I couldn't give them their 6-digit code, and that seemed to be enough for them to issue the RMA.
They tell me that it will take about two weeks to get it replaced. But that's OK, because my S6 Edge phone stopped auto-rotating today (two days after my 14-day window to return it) and that will also take two weeks to "repair" - so I won't be needing the charger anyway.
GO SAMSUNG!

I notice this when I use the fast vehicle charger from Verizon that is specifically meant to be used with this phone. It sometimes tells me 6 hour until full and then randomly it will display "fast charging" like it is supposed to and like it does when I use the wall charger. No rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes, it fast charges and sometimes it doesn't. I know it has to do with whether the phone is in use and if the screen is on, so I turned the phone off to test and it still didn't fast charge. Any ideas??

Were you able to find an answer about this? My old Note 4 used to charge really fast with my car charger, now my new S6 Edge is detecting my car charger as USB, and it's really slow to charge.

I ended up exchanging the charger for a new one and now it works fine. The first one must have been defective. I have the Verizon charger with fast charge technology.

I had the same issue. Used another USB cable and it worked fine. Apparently some of the cables they're shipping with the fast charge adapter aren't working right. Going to cause them headaches.
Posted my experience here.

I just started experiencing the same. I'm about to take it back to T-Mobile and see if they'll issue me a new something...right?

Weird issue with charging

Hello everyone, I got a new Lemax 2 today and it appears to present a really strange problem: if I plug the charger while the phone is on the battery won't charge, even if I switch it off.
Conversely if I plug it when off, everything seems to work fine, even if I switch it on while charging.
I read many charging issues come from the cable, could this be the case as well?
Cheers.
My cable doesn't work and I know a lot of leeco cable too
Charging cable with LeTV Le Max2 rubbish
Throw away the cable that comes with your LeTV as it's rubbish, it only worked twice for me before dying, luckily I ordered two new cables at the same time as I ordered my phone and they came only day after my phone but not from LeTV, LeTv did say they would refund the cost of the cable or send a new one which I didn't bother with as I had 2 already that worked great.
That is the only fault I could find with the phone and am happier with this phone than when I got my OnePlus years ago
Eventually I bought a new cable and now everything works smoothly
Mine too. Completely out of the box
2 fully charges and then shows that it's charging but no bar moving stays on 22%.
Hope buying a new cable will solve the issue.
