Just read that the Z5 Marshmallow update that came out doesn't have the adoptable storage feature. If the same happens for this phone, Sony sure done ****ed us
This phone will be useless in that case. Crazy decision from Sony.

Yea... I read this too... I am scared

Maybe they will implement it in a future update?
Maybe but this is no good future for now
Wysłane z mojego E2303 przy użyciu Tapatalka
Might be the same reason Samsung and LG are not using it. For. The flagship devices.
Usually they have another space for all the apps. And a so card is more for videos and music. Where adoptable storage would slow down the device.
Where for our phone it is necessary
If that's the case with this phone, I will sell it for sure. With the amount of money i spent on the m4, I could've gotten a much better phone now
Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk
Let's hope it's not happening for M4.
I do not think that Sony will remove the Adoptable Restore for the M4 Aqua. The other Phones have minimum 16GB Storage, so there is no need for this Feature.
The M4 Aqua have a serious Storage Problem, so i can´t believe that Sony will Remove it for this Phone.
By the Way, it´s possible to modified the build.prop to get Support for adoptable Storage, even if Sony don´t activate it.
You need to root it, and the you can change something in the build.prop from false to true and you will be able to get Adoptable Storage.
Same issue on the LG G3, but with Root there is no Problem^^
We can root it now, and use SD card for apps. What about us who don't want to root the phone..

they are aware of storage problem so i dont think they will remove adoptable storage for m4 aqua
Man if they remove it I give my phone back.
Sony is already struggling with sales. I hope they are not that stupid to remove the feature
There's no adoptable future for Xperia M4 Aqua, I download the ftf file and flash it:

It won't work with win 8.1 as reported a few times already on this forum. Try a linux live CD, maybe it works in a VM already (didn't try this yet).
So it never wont work? Or it will work if it is an update of this drivers?

I think that if that function in Windows 8: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2462567
Look here in a few days, I will try to find Windows 8.1 compliant drivers, but can't test them with DX anymore, as I sold this device.

At the moment you could probably boot an Ubuntu Live CD and install Fastboot via
Code:
sudo apt-get install android-tools-fastboot

Im stuck in this same situation. Just got a new computer a couple of days ago.
It wont boot to cd
I can get the usb hard drive function and the ADB to work but fastboot is no go.
I need to revert to stock because I lost HSPA+ on my phone and stuck on edge.
I cannot do so because I dont have fastboot to reflash my old kernel and the phone is S-ON
Ive tried for two days.. thinking im just stuck with buying a new phone.

DUDE.... buy a usb flash drive maybe 4gb..... make it bootable via YUMI using ubuntu 12 x64 distro, and search a guide using which u can use fastboot mode.
Stop changing phones for minor issues. If u want a faster/better phone, then sure, go ahead buy one.

Solution (maybe)
I have the same problem now as I want to flash a ROM. I found your thread and I found this: http://www.droid-now.com/2013/10/fix-working-fastboot-drivers-windows-8-1-x64/
I hope it will work. So, Good luck!
Same problem here, has anyone found a solution, also I don't even have USB 3.0 ..
note:thie method also works on japanese z3, and ultra stamina mode also works after apply this method. thanks @Advali for the information
playmemoris mobile is sony's camera app which transfer photos to phone from sony camera.
as we know, japanese z3c(so-02g) has different nfc chips.
if a japanese z3c(so-02g) flashes a d58xx rom, nfc will not work.
also:
if you flashed a 4.4.4 d58xx rom,nfc will drain battery, you have to pm block com.android.nfc to fix this,but play memories mobile will not launch;
if you flashed a 5.0.2 d58xx rom,nfc will not drain battery,playmemories mobile can lauch,but after launching, it will try to enable nfc, and battery will drain again;
now we have a solution(REQUIRES ROOT AND SYSTEM R/W):
first step: pm block com.android.nfc (for 4.4.4) or pm hide com.android.nfc (for 5.0.2).
this will stop battery drain.
second step:use root explorer, go to /system/etc/permissions, search "nfc", and delete all four xml files whose name contains nfc.(do this after backup)
this step will make your phone think it has no nfc function at all.
then reboot your phone, everything will be ok!
Will ultra stamina mode also work using this method? Thanks!

i can't try ultra stamina atm, because my z3c's touch screen cracked yesterday and i've sent it to repair...
i will try ultra stamina mode as soon as i get my phone again
but if you flash lollipop rom, with nothing modified(neither pm hide nor deleted xml files), ultra stamina will work and if you don't touch nfc settings by yourself or apps like playmemories mobile, battery life will be normal.
Excuse me for a stupid question, should it possible to use the NFC SERVICE files in the japanese firmware to make NFC works normal ?
sorry for my bad english

no. the difference is on drivers/kernel level, not that simple with a replacement of apk file.
since there's no lollipop rom of so-02g yet, i don't think we can port old drivers from kitkat roms to lollipop roms.
also, if we get a lollipop rom of so-02g, there's no reason to use a d58xx rom any more.
总之就是因为没有日版的5.0系统,所以nfc肯定用不了,有了也就不需要用这些非日版的rom了,在日版基础上改就行了。。

Does Oreo require a different root method?
If so, where can I find the needed files, like twrp recovery, and so on?
Thank you for the help.

Hi, xiaomi.eu is based on China weekly ROM and 2 weeks ago have update to Android 8.1 Oreo.
Problem is TWRP, because when i install 8.11.15 or 8.11.22 ROM, update is OK, but when i restart to recovery...internal storage show 0MB. Solution is FORMAT DATA, then show real internal storage. After restart to Miui and then again to recovery, internal storage again show 0MB.
I tested with official TWRP 3.2.3-0, OrangeFox 8.3 and Batik recovery S 1.4.2. Again and again internal storage show 0MB. Maybe some treble TWRP, but i dont know....
Do you have better solution?

Wanted to say thank you. Had been trying all the (wrong) TWRPs here on xda and this is the only one that works, and it actually has some nice extras like the Magisk installer (which was also the only one that worked) or the nodmverify thing. Just also want to confirm that it works fine on MIUI Global 10.1
