[SOLVED] can't get files of my device (tried Windows 7 x64 & Ubuntu 11.10 x64)

Hey folks,
got a "little" problem with my device. I tried to copy some videos of it and it just won't work.
---
I connect my device to my PC and these things happen ...
Windows 7 x64:
Nothing.
Windows 7 x64 with Kies installed:
Windows sees that there is a new device, but it won't let me open as a storage ... "Code 10" in the device manager.
Windows 7 x64 with Kies installed and device in mass storage mode:
Windows sees that there is a new device, but it won't let me open as a storage ... "Code 10" in the device manager.
Ubuntu 11.10 x64:
Nothing.
Ubuntu 11.10 x64 and device in mass storage mode:
I see some files on my device, but when trying to open them, I only get some errors ... the real problem here, when I disconnect the USB cable (or unmount) then there are no files on my device left ... everything has been moved to "lost.dir" and I can´t open them from there, not even from my phone.
---
I tried to connect with USB debugging enabled, but it would work.
Any ideas?
/Edit 1:
The only way to copy stuff over to my computer is by using Kies Air ... and it takes ages for HD videos.
/Edit 2: THE SOLUTIONS LOL :-D
1. I had to connect my device via another USB slot
2. when USB debugging is enabled, it still wouldn't mount; then I installed this app https://market.android.com/details?id=com.jrtstudio.automount and now everything works just fine

1) Using a Rom? If yes check in thread if it, if this problem is already known.
2) Tried different USB-Slots?
3) Connect phone, search in device manager for the device and uninstall the drivers.
Then un- later replug the phone and wait if all drivers got installed again.
CHEERS ;-)

Looking for driver

Hi
I have tablet (non brand) when I connect it to the windows 7 pc the windows reported that it can not find the driver and it appears under the "other devices" with the device name "Android>
I did my homework and google abt the problem but the keywords are very confusing
any hope to find the the driver?
thanks
Hi,
You should try to find the model of your device and search for drivers on the internet.
Usually, when you connect you tablet to a Windows PC without usb debugging, you can access the contents of the SD card, just like you would with a USB stick.
But if you activated the debugging, you need the driver.
All the best.

[Q] Installing CM10.2 [or 11] from stock 1.4.3

I have a NT 16 gb from stock with my smartphone usb cable but not the charger.
I connect the usb cable to an international adapter via its usb port so I think I get 1.6A: and judging by how fast I charge the NT, I would say it is right.
I want cm10.2 or cm11 [preferably of course] but I cannot install cwm.
I cannot get usb debugging on by downloading an apk and lunching it: I must choose between the app installer or the package installer and then get the error: only from NB we can install apk's, great.
I have 1micro sdhc class 4 of 4gb and one class4 16gb, none of them permits to boot up which incredibly sucks, idk why.
I configure them with minitool, 300mb space, and my put img of cwm 6.0.4.6.
Every time I end up with the reset factory choice from NB after I perform pwr+home then power alone; whether I connect the nt to the power adapter or not.
When I connect the nt to windows, it is seen only as a drive.
ADB does not recognize the device of course.
Is there a way to install CM ? without a bootable SD ?
This is unbelievably frustrating and since I am a complete noob to android and all that, pls level with me
this guide is quite helpful: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_acclaim
if i were you i'd throw the ROM and Gapps that you want on the internal storage if you can get into USB mode, then look at this and use this guide to flash CM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21895025&postcount=14
yeah it says how to root stock firmware but it's the same process, just different zip files.
yes I have seen the wiki and I am stuck at Boot to recovery mode since my nook always shows the BN recovery:
from your second link, it is this line
You will see a picture of N on the screen followed by a box with a white background followed by CWM booting up.
CWM does not boot. Is it possible that the problem is from the SD cards ?
I tested a sandisk 32gb class10, it still shows the factory reset screen
Regarding the USB mode, the NT says I must install the apks from BN only, so I do not not know how to active it.
i'm assuming you know how to connect the tablet to a computer... try that.

Have you tried the method outlined at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51377882&postcount=163?
Note that many NT will boot off SD only from power-off state and upon insertion of a powered USB cable (regular mini-USB cable connected to PC or powered USB Hub should work fine).
Success CM11 is installed \0/; My partition was of type 0b not 0c...
I do have a problem now when I plug in the tablet on windows xp sp3: windows cannot find the drivers with or without debugging on.
Is it possible to see the device as a storage space in general and also being recognized by adb when debugging is on {i believe it is how this work, is it not ?} ?

By default the NT should automatically show up as an MTP device when plugged in via USB.
You only need to enable USB debugging when using adb access over USB.

Well, via a software, I removed all the usb drivers connected to an android tablet. Then, the first time I plug in the NT, I have an OMAP443 install [for I do have these drivers] and windows then searches for the "BN NT" but cannot find the drivers. It's quite puzzling.
For the MTP, as far as I understand, I must install windows mediaplayer 11, is there not an alternative >?

Did you switch the NT to USB mode (Settings->Storage->Settings->UMS)?

Problem with Windows 8.1 USB connectivity

I've seen this issue mentioned here before but I've never been able to find a definitive solution.
My Kindle HDX 7'' connects without issue to my laptop running Windows 7 and allows me to browse the files located on the internal storage.
On my Windows 8.1 laptop I get basically nothing. My computer recognizes it as a device but doesn't allow me to browse the internal storage. The kindle gives me a message saying I may need third party software to view the files. Both pc's have the kindle adb drivers installed and turning USB debugging on/off doesn't help either. I also try un-installing/re-installing drivers in device manager which also doesn't seem to help.
Does anyone have any insight or experience this same issue?
Thanks!
Although you've probably done this already a reboot cured my HDX connectivity issues on Win 8.1 when a similar thing happened to me a few weeks ago.

I can't get ADB working on my Android devices (Win 7 64-bit) - frustrating

Hi guys, I've been tearing my hair out for the past 24hrs trying to get ADB to communicate with my devices (Amazon Fire tablet + Nexus 5x).
I've installed ADB and drivers for my devices. They currently show up as Android Device > Google Nexus ADB Interface (ClockworkMod driver installed) and Android Device > Android Composite ADB Interface (Amazon.com driver installed).
I have enabled ADB on my Amazon Fire tablet (5th Gen - 5.1.3) and USB debugging on my Nexus 5x.
When I run ADB, all it sees is my Fire tablet but says "unauthorized" next to it.
On both devices, when plugged into the computer via USB, I get no message about enabling the computer to access the device etc. They just sit there, charging with "USB Debugging Connected" on both devices.
Could someone point me in the right direction to get ADB communicating properly with both devices? I originally wanted to use it to root my Fire Tablet to load a different OS on to it, so I used my Nexus 5x to see if that could communicate with ADB but it appears that neither do.... properly anyway.
Another flag that I'm wondering is that in Device Manager, I do have an exclamation mark next to a USB controller - I've found drivers for it (Renesas USB 3.0 Host Controller) - but it came up with an error saying the device cannot start (code 10) - I don't think this is anything to do with my issue as the drivers are installed correctly it appears for the Android devices.
Thanks a lot in advance.
I've done it! I had to delete adbkey from .android folder on my PC - god knows why! all fixed though. yay.
