I'm more curious than anything else, but after playing with my friends Meizu MX4 Ubuntu, I searched to see if Xiaomi had done anything similar. I couldn't find any results.
Would a port to the Redmi Note 2 be possible, and has anyone tried/is anyone working on a port for it?
It's a beautiful looking OS, but I don't know much else about it. I was only playing with it for about 5 minutes.
Ubuntu touch uses its own kernel... It's not possible to port it until xiaomi releases source code...
unfortunately, no

Hello,
I have read in the en.miui.com forum that some xiaomi phones will get MIUI 8 on may 10th. But I haven't seen anything about hermes. Will we get that upgrade too? What would that mean for future custom roms? I am not a big fan of MIUI, but I use it for the camera.
And does new MIUI version mean that it will be another Android version, like 5.1. or higher?
this news is not officially announced but most probably Hermes will get that update
Sent from my Redmi Note 2 using Tapatalk
seems like most of the device that are currently maintained with MIUI 7 weekly/dev/stable will get the 8, including Redmi Note 2 which is just last year released Redmi devices. Maybe the question should "Will MIUI 8 on Redmi Note 2 build on Marshmallow rather than Lollipop?" lol idk im not sure hehe
You can see some changes and the announcement here.

But it is not that different. i am more excited about new custom roms.
We will get MIUI 8, but I don't think we will get all the new features. I hope so...
Is there anyone there who tried to port miui 8? What do you think guys?

Pretty amazing features I see here
Hi
I'm a programmer with around 10 years experience and wanna get into ROM/Kernel development. But its pretty hard since I've been doing very different stuff (mostly Java/Xamarin stuff)
More precisely I want to learn how to port Android 6/7 into the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 - I own this device and there are only buggy (Kernel/driver bugs) opensource ROMs running Android 6 (note that this is an x86 device).
So I am looking for tutoring to learn how to do it - think of 2-3 hours weekly via Skype or something similar (for money of course) Anyone up to this? Or am I looking in the wrong place?
Hello,
For some experimentation with custom kernels, I was trying to find some mechanism to get early console on the Poco F1 (like UART over headphones or something similar), but probably my Google-Foo wasn't too good. Anyone here with experience with such a device?
Ultimate idea is to be able to boot mainline kernels (or close to mainline) on the phone
Thanks in advance,
Sumit.
I am in need of it too. But not able to find any schematics related to Poco F1. I checked schematics for Redmi Note 4(mido) online and it was using headphone jack for UART. I wonder if its the same too. Guys any idea on how to find it?
I am happy to see that you took the time to explore this very intriguing pleading here
I have a request, especially regarding the developer around here.
Accidentally I came across a thread in the Poco forum, which quite impressed me.
The Redmi Note 4 MTK, Redmi 4a, Redmi Note 3 etc.
already have kernel support to use the fully functions of Kali Nethunter and Andrax on top of Miui roms.
But wait.
I am really into Aosp/LOS and not the old stuff.
Pie, man.
Yes, this kernel is compatible with both roms.

There she(it) is.
If some good Shepard could take the time and compile one for our Mido, it would be amazing.
The support alone would be a nice booster.Besides.
Who doesn't like 'The Net' with Sandy Bullock, or for the youngster 'Mr.Robot'.
I'm kidding of course.
Kali is a professional Pen-Testing distribution, which isn't for somebody to 'hack Wlan' 11, or mess in another way around.
I am doing this professional and don't like those approaches at all.
Anyhow.
I would be endlessly grateful for this task be doing done and I am definitely not alone.
Fingers crossed
