S3 Camera i9300 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I firstly installed cyangoenmod 12.1 after the camera has stopped working bug i installed cm camera fix from google play but that didn't worked and the camera that sometimes worked had now completely stopped. Now i flashed stock rom and the camera started working but when i flashed cm again it stopped again after sometime then i flashed back to stock but this time it didn't work some times it would say "Unknown error occured" or sometimes the errorcallback error. Now when i flashed MIUI the camera worked but after a snap it stopped and crashed and when i launched it again it sayed camera not responding. Please help me

1. It's probably caused by various hardware. In the worst case you've to go back to any JB-TW based ROM.
2. The fixes mostly work as follows: flash ROM, start camera once and take a photo, return to recovery and flash fix.
3. Try this camera, suitable till LP.

Which fix can you provide the link?

@twitwimp: there's no witchy fix. Take the one, advised&made for the ROM, you use.

@twitwimp: for CM13-based ROMs I found this fix. Worth to try.

Camera stopped working 3125

I lost my camera function on my phone. I just updated the rom and it doesn't work. I was wondering if it may have something to do with the 3100 version without the camera. Is there any site which has older roms to try and flash back to?
Here's a bunch of roms you may try. Good luck to get your camera back.

Nope, the other roms didn't make a difference. The camera must have failed somehow because of the flash.

[Q] Can't connect to camera (deep sw problem)

Hello,
I have been googling and reading all threads about this issue for over a month now, so it's problably something quite special. Every time I try to use an app using a camera or flashlight, it reports with "Can't connect to camera" message. This first happened while trying to flash a Kitkat rom (Artas's CM11) with wrong recovery. So it was not working, I got back to system, flashed the correct recovery via flashify, got back to it and finally flashed the rom. Ever since that the camera has not been working, with one exception - now this is the interesting thing that makes me think it's not a hw problem - while trying to do all kinds of unbricks and resets I know of (flashing all kinds of different roms, CM based, AOSP, of course all kinds of original roms) I decided to go for KDZ - so I got the original bin I found on this forum and got back to v10i and the camera worked! So I was happy that it's solved and decided to stick with stock rom. It updated to JB (the official way) and ever since, it has not been working. I have tried to flash persist images, to mess with permisions and I can't really think of any other way. (Of course I have tried to flash KDZ again the same way, but it did not work, not even on ICS).
Thanks for every idea!

[Q] Back Camera Hangs

Back camera hangs most of the time; it works sometimes but most of the time it freezes and FC itself saying "Unfortunately, Camera has stopped." Front camera always works fine.
The back camera wont FC itself all the time, sometimes it just stays black (with all the buttons and interface working), and sometimes it stays with a freezed image of what the camera sees (also with the interface ok).
I've tried full wipes, I've flashed different roms, with different kernels; cleaned the camera's cache and data; tried the "Restart Camera" solution/workaround; I've even tried to "tap the camera hard" as some people has suggested.
What I haven't done is flashing stock rom, since I consider it won't be of any help (But if you advise me to, I'll do it). And I haven't tried Roms that are not 4.4.4
I'm currently using AICP Rom (4.4.4)
Sorry for any typo.

Hi, thanks for replying. I've lost count of how many, but as I remember, they all were KK Custom Roms, the ones I remember I've tried are AOKP, CM11, and AICP.
It started since... I don't even remember, it has been so long, I just hadn't been able to try to fix it, untill now.
I flashed the stock JB ROM and it fixed it. So I thought that there were corrupted files and since I have them now, I was going to work again if I flashed the AICP ROM back... but nope, it has the same issue.
I'll flash a JB Custom Rom (Probably CM10.2) to see what happens.
Update: I flashed a JB Custom Rom (Fusion Rom) and the camera is working good so far.
But still not working in KK.

Need help with Droid Razr xt912 camera

I do apologize for creating a new post for an older phone. A few months ago I purchased my phone used. I rooted it and installed SS 3.75 with no problem. Tried a few roms and settled on a KitKat rom from cyanogenmod, specifically cm-11-20140104-SNAPSHOT-M2. It was the best for me for the camera working and for battery life. Using the cm updater I tried a couple of the newer releases, but the camera wouldn't work for any of them, but reflashing Slot 1 to 4.4.2, the camera would work without fail.
The problem started when I decided to flash it to the stock slot. It flashed with no issues, however the camera would always force close on start. I reactivated Slot 1 which has the same rom on it and the camera force closed there as well. Using the Droid Razr Utility, flashed the phone back to stock and rooted it again. After installing the rom back on slot 1, the camera still isn't working. It does, however, work on stock.
I'd wiped dalvik/cache several times since the camera quit working on the custom rom side, but other than that I'm at a loss. Even though the camera does work on the stock side, is it possible it could be a hardware problem?
Any help would be appreciated.

The stock version is JB 4.1.2 98.72.16.XT912.Verizon.en.US.
The fact that the camera only worked with one custom rom and stock is why I'm wondering if it's a hardware issue.
Thanks for taking your time to help me with this.

Hi welder73, yes I did try some other apps. I kept getting the message that the apps could not connect to the camera for all except Google Camera. That one would open take a couple of pictures and then fc everytime I used it. If I tried to open it again I would get the same message as the other camera apps. The only way to get Google Camera to work again would be to restart the phone. The camera cyanogenmod camera app would still fc everytime I opened.

Hmmmm, strange but since your camera works with stock rom it can't be hardware issue.
Try Snap Camera,I use it for years

Thank you both sd_shadow and welder73 for trying to help. A couple of days ago I screwed something up and couldn't get stock to boot, so I reflashed the stock image again and set up cm 11 on slot 1 again. For whatever reason the camera is now working on slot 1. I don't know why it's working now, but it is. Again thank you both so much.

g925f "camera has stopped"

Hi, I have a problem with my s6 edge. When I'm trying to use camera it doesn't start, just pop "unfortunatelly camera has stopped".
I had some problems with this phone, couldnt flash software, when finally flash newest software (6.x.x) I had a DRK problem, to fix it I flashed kernel Kernel_G925F_fix_DRK_error.tar, after that everything is working fine except camera. I tried to flash several stock roms, then custom (XtreStoLite) but camera is still not working. anyone know how to fix it?
