address book - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
How do I import my address book? when I got the phone the man at ATT did that but I took that phone back and exchanged it for another one and in the barrage of questions I didnt even think of making sure that it transferred over correctly and now in my address book I have all of my email friends.
I normally can figure this stuff out but this one has me going gonzo thanks, Jake

Never mind, got it!!

[Q] Iphone to HOX+?

Sorry for the newb questions but coming from an Iphone 4 to the ATT HOX+ for USA this friday the day it is released. Have never used android anything so this is all new to me. Basically how would i get my contacts and music from my iphone to my new HOX+ when i get it? On iTunes i tried to sync my contacts to my google mail account but nothing happened. iTunes asked for google email info, typed it all in, synced phone, said sync was complete. Logged into my gmail and saw no contacts in it so it seems nothing synced?
I read with the new HTC Sync Manager download for this HOX+ device it will somehow sync your music straight from iTunes? Is this true and if so sounds easy enough?
Any suggestions on must have apps to download and use for HOX+ when i get it?
Of course like anyone i would love to use my HOX+ as soon as i get it but at least need all my contacts on the device as i use it for work as well. I also read you can use an app called Bump if i download it on both my iphone and HOX+ i can then just Bump my contacts over with this app? If this is true, can this be performed with my sim card only in my HOX+ and no sim card in my iphone? Only have 1 sim card of course for only 1 device.
Appreciate any info, thank you
Hi there,
I am not sure but the easiest way to get your contacts from your Ifone to your gmail account would be with a vCard which according to gmail is compatible..guess you just attach the vcard to a mail to your gmail address and open it, on your computer (Windows?), within the Contacts tab in your gmail account (contacts management just click on the gmail link under Google)
There you have on top of your contacts list the option "moer" and there click on import, point to the download of the vCard and it should load.
Another thing is the copyright protected iTunes musicfiles...that is a bummer...
I never tried to get iTunes music files to Android...I left left any bitten fruit behind back in 2008...except of the 15GB of music I bought while being blinded by Apple. Had backup CDs with all my purchases, then the motherboard of my iBook broke and all stuff gone...until they introduced their cloud sync I could only listen to my music by running the actual CD backups...most annoying...but after I synced all my old music to my iTunes Windows I had to convert it all with TuneClone software to be able to play them! That was a right kerfuffel...
I tell you...I never buy anything in iTunes ever again! I only use it now to download my favourite DeepHouze DJ mixes
Believe me..once you break the chains Apple forces around their customers you will free soooo free...and with the help of xda community you can start to enjoy mobile technology the way it is meant to..to be fun, to be on the edge, to be for everyone! At least that is how I felt
Right, to be back on topic...try the vCard import thingy in your gmail contacts setting..with the iTunes stuff maybe someone else is more up to have latest info!
Njoi your One X+ it is amazing!

I hear you bro. As you can see in my sig last time i was around this site i had an ATT Tilt2 device from HTC and really loved it! This was way back with windows mobile 6.1 or 6.5 i believe and when sense original first came out! I then upgraded to iPhone 4 as soon as it came out and loved it jailbroken. Never owned an Apple product in my life and still this device is the only Apple product i own and will now only use as my car's ipod player once i get the HOX+. Apple really is crap, even if i went from iphone 4 to the new 5 it's barely a leap forward and took Apple almost 2yrs to produce this? They careless about their customers and honestly it's all a trend, not at all quality. Very excited to get into Android devices and learn as much as i can about them and just reading this whole HOX+ forum and watching youtube vids i'm very very excited! Going to sneak out of work Friday as soon as my local ATT store opens to be the first to purchase the HOX+ then run to the nearest mall to get the ZAGG HD screen shield professionally installed, then call up SquareTrade for my 2year unlimited coverage device warranty, then i'll be all set to mod and do whatever!
I'll try what you mentioned but you would think there would be an easier way. Hope i can easily figure it out on friday when the time comes.

[Q] Abuse and GPS tracking

Hey XDA!! I came here because I know you're quick to deliver the help. I'm not sure if this should go in Q&A or the Development section, and you'll see why in a bit.
A friend of mine (we’ll call him M for ease) recently came to me with a concern. His coworker's ex-boyfriend has been hassling and harassing her using her Android phone. **BEFORE I go any further, YES I have suggested that the proper authorities get contacted.** At first he was allegedly sending texts to MY friend via the girl’s phone. He had some forwarding/spy type app (that’s all I could figure out from some research) on her phone that would allow him to text it, and then those messages would forward to M as if they came from his coworker. I have no idea how he could have done that, and I couldn’t find a lot of apps in the play store that seemed to have similar functions.
But now, he is apparently trying to get the poor girl to install a GPS tracker on her phone (unwittingly, I assume) so he can, well, know where she is. M can’t tell me the name of this app because he’s unsure.
So at this point I’m thinking that we not only have someone who’s being evil, but who is *maybe* making his own apps to stalk and get this girl, and my friend, in trouble at work.
I found a GPS spoofer on the play store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lexa.fakegps&hl=en I have offered to help root phones and install this and do whatever is necessary to get this guy off their backs. I can test it all day long since I have a rooted device—my question is, I don’t have a spy app to spoof, nor do I know what exactly I’m trying to spoof, so how do I know this will be helpful?
I’m also considering finding a custom ROM and helping this girl lock her phone down more. Or telling her to call her carrier and change her number. Beyond that, does XDA have any suggestions or advice? I’m not a coder, but I can follow directions to change things if you tell me exactly where to go and what to change (i have dabbled a teensy bit in android source code before breaking my phone >_>)
The girl has a Samsung Dart, I’m currently unsure of the version of Android it’s running, but should find out soon and will edit the post.
Thanks for all the help!
You can format the phone and see if that works. Plus there are many text blocker apps on market.
Hope i helped .

Yes ,I patiently read the entire story! Wipe the phones data !
As far as the text problem you said I don't think there is anything like that which could receive an sms from a number and then forward it to another number. So there are two options either the girl sent the text or the guy semt the text with a spoof number!
And as far as the GPS is concerned, one doesn't need a GPS tracker to know where one is! Just Google maps is enough if the guy has the girls mail in his contacts. Ask her to change the mail id it should be enough!

Google + TNT = Rank incompetence

This is a rant. If you don't like rants then move along.
I am trying to purchase a Nexus 10. And this has been, without doubt, the worst customer experience I have EVER had. First: I buy a N10. The screen is defective, so I RMA it. The replacement arrives (eventually). It is worst than the first. I RMA it as well. I am sent the RMA forms and am told that TNT will send me the return shipping labels. After two days, no labels arrive. I call TNT. They tell me they don't send shipping labels out for Google and that I need to speak to them. They also tell me they will pick up the device, but I need a Google account code. I call Google. I sit on hold for 20 mins+ and am cut off. I call again. 10 more minutes on hold. They tell me the code, adding that they have had endless problems with TNT. I call TNT. I give them the code. They put it all through, but say they need an address to send it to. I don't have one, obviously. I call Google back - again. I sit on hold - again. I speak to 3 people this time. I am told by each that they do not have an address to give me. Yep: Google - which, as it's defining mission statement aims to gather up the world's information - cannot tell me where I have to send my Google device to be RMA'd'. They say that the address is in the barcode of the RMA, and that this can be scanned by TNT. I wonder how TNT can scan the barcode when the RMA form is put inside the box as per their return instructions, but am told that TNT have the code linked to my address. But TNT say they know nothing about it. Eventually I say I am going to put both my faulty N10s in a box - seal it - cancel my orders - and let Google fight it out with my credit card company when the monies don't arrive. After all: I have two faulty devices, and no-one can tell me where or how to send them back. I eventually - after about 1.5 hours on the phone - get put through to a supervisor, who tells me he is going to escalate the case. I have heard all this before, but apparently have no choice since the escalations shipping team don't come on shift for another 5 hours. I tell the supervisor that this is it, and if I don't get a definitive solution to this within 24 hours then I'm sealing the box.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is where I am at. This is beyond parody. Literally unbelievable.

I decide to call TNT again. They reaffirm their 'we have no idea what you're on about' line. But I get put through to someone who very helpfully says they can sort out a return. They take my details. set up consignment number etc,. and set collection for today. After 10 minutes or so, I ask her what address to put on the bag with the N10 in, and begins: 'ASUS...'. Who? I ask. 'ASUS', she says: 'the people who make them'. 'No', I say, 'they make the N7, this is a N10'. 'Oh' she says, 'the one's made by Samsung - well in that case you need to get Google to send you the labels'.
Has anyone else had any experience of this? How, exactly, are you supposed to return something with no return address?
I'm also facing very similar issues.
Between both companies i am very disappointed.
I will update you once I have spoken to Google for the 4th time this evening
Wow, this sounds like some sort of horrible comedy sketch.
All I can say is that I feel for you, and I hope you get it sorted soon.
Failing that, cancel the payment, keep the devices, and wait for nothing to happen, since, you being unable to find the people to return it to, either 1) they'll call you, or 2) nothing will come of it and you can keep 2 free N10's.
You could defend this in court if it came to it since thy're practically making it impossible for you to send them back.

It turns out that the distributor for Google in the UK is a company called Computer 2000. I have just managed to speak to the lady who sends out the RMA shipping labels for the N10s. But she can only send one out when she gets my RMA code sent to her in the daily report from Google. I get back on the phone to Google. Eventually I'm told that my RMA code has been sent out (this was apparently done 50 minutes ago, so I guess the escalation from the supervisor has happened), and that I need to wait for the labels. Again. Or something.
And to think I sold my iPad for this.
I strongly suspect a call to Visa is on the cards. But let's see.
I had this exact problem with 2 nexus 7s (2 rmas from 1 original purchase). I waited 3 months for a return label in the end. Google wouldn't speak to Computer 2000 who wouldnt speak to TNT. And despite returning both units now, the RMA 'purchases' are still bouncing to the top of my Google play order list every few weeks, like a constant threat that I will be incorrectly charged for them at some point - Google can not explain why this is still happening.

I do not understand what to do. Google said to call TNT. What the hell has TNT got to do with a return? Who are computer 2000? Im in the UK, these american dudes are useless!!
Hmm,
I told google i wanted to return my nexus10 (which arrived 2 days after buying) because the wifi was a bit iffy, before i sent it back, they sent me another tablet. I still have both, now with updates, both work fine, so am sending one back... pretty flawless and quick service for me (perhaps a karma issue

It's got nothing to do with TNT. Google need to send you an RMA form (a PDF you print off). Then, THEY need to send the RMA code to Computer 2000, who are the distributor for Google in the UK. Computer 2000 then send the jiffy bag, which you then arrange to be picked up by TNT. Google's alleged 'specialists' don't know what they're talking about. It's quite shocking. The people I spoke to at TNT and Computer 2000 today told me a litany of horror stories about Google on this. And judging by the completely incorrect and contradictory things I've been told by Google, I'm very inclined to believe them.

Thanks for your info, i will be keeping a good eye on this thread as I'm waiting for a return pack for my N10.
It was meant to be in the same parcel as the replacement device, but all i got was the device. i raised it with Google and all they said was that they would get an RMA pack out straight away, but I'm yet to hear anything else

I just called TNT and google, google told me to call tnt, tnt said they had no idea what I was on about. Then i called google, they said call tnt and giev them my rma number. So I dont want to call tnt again, and it will sound like i am an idiot. SO what should I do? Should I call google again? What should I say? These american google guys have no idea what is going on. They need a UK call centre.

But then they would have to pay UK taxes!
Seriously, you are right. My N7 experience led me to realise that most of the advice the US operators at Google give you only applies to US purchases, and agreements they have with whoever does the US deliveries. After many phonecalls, I ended up asking "does this apply to the UK" after every instruction I was given, and the answer was always "ERM, don't know, perhaps I should escalate your issue".
I had loads of emails demanding payment for immediate return of the devices over the 3 months. The shipping label/ bag did arrive eventually though.
This sounds, word for word, nearly exactly the same as my experience. Although I have FOUR devices that I need to send back. 4th one arrived today, still faulty, still with nothing to return the others with. This is after going back between Google and TNT about 20+ times now over the past couple of weeks. Going to get a refund and wait a few months, really really disappointed.
Has anyone in the UK actually managed to successfully return a device yet?
Wow. What a nightmare. Good luck. Get it together, Google.

So you have been charged 390 x 4? £1560? Google must be laughing!
Just been back to the phone. I thought I'd ask Google why they're giving out incorrect information about returns. The operator gave me the same line as before, and has reissued another request to TNT for shipping labels. They said they would deal with it personally, and that they would definitely email me back tomorrow, either to confirm that the labels have been sent, or to let me know that TNT have no idea about it. I am not expecting anything to happen at all, but will update with further news if and when it comes in.
Dev paprina
I am also waiting to send 2 back and was told it would be a couple of days before i get the TNT labels etc
After another 1hr wasted on the phone to Google and so called a manager I received an email saying that I have to return the device at my own cost.
Its f*****g retarded. I just want the device gone!
however the hold came off my account so I guess I could keep them both!

No way should you have to return it at your cost, if they don't want to sort it out, just forget it, or tell them they can come collect it in court.

Man just BS them. Tell them that you already sent them 1 week ago or something and say something like "I don't know why you don't have them because I sent them already. It's not my problem. No I will not call TNT, it's your job to call them."

Facebook mobile number substitution?

So my ex girlfriend is convinced that I have somehow hacked her phone. (I haven't.) So much so that she drowned an HTC phone and got herself a new Droid Maxx. However she is still having the issues that led her on this paranoid delusion. I am looking for someone to help me explain to her she has not been hacked, or if I am wrong to correct me.
The story starts with her saying that her Facebook app on the phone is acting funny. Yeah the nebulous adjective, funny. When I asked her what does she mean by that she has various performance complaints as well as the app crashing at inopportune times. Setting aside such shaky evidence of somebody hacking a phone (because as you know, one thing a hacker does not want to do is let their victim know that they are inside their phone and thus shutting down the exploits they have already put in place) I am now seeking anyone who knows more about this than I do to help explain what she is seeing so that she stops accusing me of something I am not doing. To make matters worse ex-girlfriend decides to start monkeying around with things that she doesn't understand inside her phone settings and discovers something that I finally find to be odd but can't really explain away.
She went into her old phone (an HTC M8 I believe) account synch settings and sees the Facebook mobile number displayed as not her own. In fact it's not even a proper number. Here is a screen shot from the new phone (my memory says that a very similar result was on her old phone):
(Annnd Dammit since I am a fairly fresh user I cannot post a pic link, if you are trying to help me PM me and I think it'll let me pate you the link)
(Or I can try to put 5 spaces in the link to make it non working and if you have the patience copy it and take the spaces out to go to the screen shot)
http: // imgur.com / Mfba WdE
The number listed is not even a complete number and does not come up in any useful way in Google searches. This odd number was on her previous HTC phone before she sent it for drowning and then her new Droid Maxx phone is showing the same thing.
As you know it's useless to go and ask Facebook for any sort of support seeing as how we are not their customers, we are actually the commodity they sell to advertisers so they could give a rat's ass about assisting their commodity. Remember when you don't pay for something then what is being sold is you.
I must add that she also has confirmed to me that when she signs in to Facebook in a browser on a PC she does not see her number replaced inside her profile. It seems really very odd to me how her mobile app still knows how to link with her regular profile when the number is not matching. I have an HTC One M9 and I do not have the same behavior as she reports. According to her she can still see her news feeds and friend posts and all that Facebook goodness. She says she has Avast running on the phone, and she does not install any software not obtained through the Google Play Store.
My research came up with not a very convincing theory. What I found was a dated forum post regarding a Facebook feature that had been discontinued. The feature being cited was like an address book feature that sought to synch the phone's address book and the Facebook Friends list and address book together. But the discussion did not quite match what I was observing so it is unconvincing that I found what the cause was.
Can anyone follow this story at all? Has her phone been hacked? Can anyone tell me a better place to post a question regarding this?

Help please, This phone is my only evidence of abuse.

I am in dire need of help.
My phone is locked, i don't know my google password.
Its an old phone of mine, i never thought I would need it but the text messages on there will prove to the court that my ex abused me and my kids.
He served me via newspaper. So i had no clue he was even trying to take the kids until he showed up on my doorstep with a sheriff. My babies are with this horrible man and the only proof i have is in my text messages in that phone. Is there any way to get them? Im desperate for help. My babies are 5 and 7 years old. Please is there anyone who knows what I can do?
The phone is a samsung tracphone SCH-S738C.
