I am thinking of buying a Mugen extended battery for my HD. I know it's bulkier, but I don't mind the extra dimensions/weight for the peace of mind that I won't run out of power. I have used Mugen before for my last smartphone, and I was totally happy with the performance.
I also know from past experience, how difficult it was to find a case that fit the phone with the extended battery.
Anybody use a pouch type (preferably leather) case that fits the HD with the extended Mugen battery? either 4500mAh or 3000mAh
Thanks in advance for sharing this valuable information
I was looking for the same thing too because I bought a 2500mah extended battery with extended cover from Boxwave but I cant seem to find a case that will fit my HD with a extended battery, so what I did is I bought some cheap silicon cases from ebay and just modified it to fit my Touch HD with extended battery.
a case for extended battery

That one feets very well both stock HD battery and Extended 2800 mAh. Tested by muself. To proove i can post a few photos.
"Yoobao Motorola Droid X2 Extended Battery Door 2600mah" from Ebay. Anyone tried it?
Has anyone here tried this yet? How is it?

I understand why people want extended batteries, but that just looks ridiculous.
I think im gonna order one of these today
Buddy of mine has a Seidio extended battery for his Evo 4G. He says it's great. Here's one for the X/X2 and the better priced one.
Never even heard of Yoobao. So I think I'm going Seidio.
I had a Mugen Power extended battery for my HTC HD2 and couldn't live without it.
When I considered one for my X2, I looked at the ones offered by Seidio, Yoobao, Gorilla Gadgets, Mugen Power and generic eBay.
Yoobao and Gorilla Gadget reviews were the most positive; experiences with Seidio and the generic eBay batteries were all over the board and the Mugen Power batteries were just too expensive.
I ended up purchasing a Yoobao battery (which comes with a grey battery cover) - that does not match the phone - a plug-in charger and a rubberized case which fits the X2 with the extended battery/cover in place. Total tab with priority shipping was somewhere between $40 and $50, if memory serves.
I've been using this combo for about a month now and am generally pleased. Since I'm rarely on the same ROM for more than a week, battery life is hard to consistently rate. Today, for example, I'm going on 7 hours of steady texting, email syncing, alternating 3g/wifi use, 'net surfing, tinkering with Root Explorer/Text Editor, and playing music on PowerAMP -- remaining battery power is at 54%.
All the extended batteries in this class make the phone huge. Make no mistake, the photos you see are spot on. Some people like the increased purchase on the phone, some people bemoan the loss of that sleek, sexy chassis. It's a personal decision, to be sure.
At any rate, you'll need to calibrate your battery reader to get anything close to an accurate battery power reading. If you aren't rooted, I don't know how you would do this. If you are, you can simply erase batterystats.bin in your system folder, go into bootstrap recovery or use an app that does it for you.
I also alternate between more standard-sized BH5X and BH6X batteries. With these, I need to carry a spare, which invariably gets used sometime at the midpoint of the day. The greatest upside with these batteries, obviously, is in the case selection. I have 3 cases that I rotate, as my mood sees fit. For power users, this is a viable alternative to carrying around a slump block.

Yup, exactly what I thought ...
People are under the mistaken impression that Mugen Power batteries are Japanese, so the cells used are superior to the Chinese batteries. That is not correct. Mugen Power uses Chinese batteries, just like everyone else.
Based on my research, all of the major resellers use Chinese battery manufacturers. Quality control for stock Motorola, Yoobao and a few others tends to be much higher, so the possibility of getting a bum battery is concomitantly lower.

Hey Guys,
You may want to know about the performance of the extended battery from mugen 3600mah and from ebay so called 3600mah (white+red+yellow). Here is my observataion and just wanna share with you my feelings:-
I got a GS2 and a EVO3D, purchased one mugen battery and 2 ebay batteries for my GS2; also purchased 2 3600mah battery from ebay. they are from the same China manufacturer and thus the prices are similiar.
Outlook:-
The mugen cover is really awesome, fit and with imprinted figures, however if you use ebay battery, the mugen cover cannot fit in, its tailor made for its battery only!
The ebay cover is also fit to the body, surface smooth. u can use both ebay battery and mugen battery.
Performance:-
Mugen battery can last for 3x hours something with juice defender
Ebay battery can last for nearly 24 hours with juice defender
both are under heavy usage in internet browsing and texting
Price:- Buy 1 mugen can buy at least 8 ebay battery
Charging time:- Mugen battery takes longer to fully charge
i would say the battery from ebay is not fully 3600mah, i think its abt 3000mah, assuming mugen give you the true figures.
For me, I would no doubt to purchase evo 3d battery from ebay, and the finishing of the cover is top fit to evo 3d, make it more durable! and now my evo 3d can last at least 24 hours, for sure sufficient to heavy usage guy. someone said i'm taking a soap out, but for me, it shows much handsome and durable, its worth.
Buy 1 original htc 1730 mah battery can buy 4 3600mah ebay battery, why not?
Up Time is irrelevant really, as we don't know how the phone was used. To give everyone a better idea of the battery's performance, also post Awake Time along with Up Time.
Other important information is what rom/kernal you're using, and if you're overclocking, underclocking, etc...

Mike, you are right, i use stock rom from Taiwan, rooted, no overclock etc, I'm a user, test the 2 batteries under the same circumstances, same numbers of software, same user preference. my view is subjective enough. Trust or not is your call.
A universal way to judging batteries is screen on time..
How much hours was the screen on for each bettery in your tests?
Mugen is a rip. Way too expensive and didn't last as long as China 3500mah with smooth flat cover
I'm pretty sure the Galaxy SIII will have decent battery life and when ROMs and kernels come around it'll be even better. The S3 having a 2100mah battery, do you guys think it's possible for 3rd parties accessories maker to do like a 2500 Mah battery like the note? Or will it be too big and add bulk to the phone with an bigger back cover?
There will definitely be extended batteries, but any that add significantly to the capacity will have their own rear casing and add some bulk. Mugen often make batteries the same size as the originals with a slight edge in capacity, but I doubt they'd get it to 2500mA.
Im sure there will at some point be extended batteries available in much higher capacities with their own back covers. This might actually be beneficial for those worried about getting scratched camera lenses.

Nfc antenna is in the battery so Kepler that in mind when looking for a replacement
Extended batteries on eBay
I found some extended batteries for sale on eBay. All of them seem to ship from China. Some are 2300 and 2500 mAh and appear that they fit using the standard back cover. Other larger batteries come with a new back cover making the phone thicker. The downside of both options is that none of the extended batteries seem to include NFC support. It's a shame that the phone's NFC feature was built into the battery.
Extended Battery and Cover
I think what you are looking for is the power case from droidax. They have a new one that fits the GS3 and has 2300 mAh battery inside. That doubles the battery capacity.

Waiting on the full line from Seidio myself. They said they are working on an extended battery but currently have no ETA. I usually buy the whole suite; Comes with a battery, back cover, 3 layers of casing and a holster. My opinion is that practicality is more important than how thin and light the phone is. My EVO 4g lasted a week with Seidio's extended battery. Hope to get the same with the SGS3.
I see this time and time again, but also I guess this is why there is a market for fake batteries.
Think of a battery as a fuel tank, you want to run the motor for longer? you need a bigger tank. Any battery that claims to have a larger capacity yet maintain the same physical size is either utilising battery technology no one else knows about or its too good to be true.

You can get a 2300mAh battery that gives like 10% extra capacity or a huge 4600mAh battery (2.2 times more capacity). Second one comes with back door because of bulk and adds like 11mm to the phone.
Found this video for the above mentioned battery.
I know some of you are keeping track of the weight of different batteries to see if there's anything heavier than the stock battery which would presumable indicate more battery life.
I have access to a highly accurate gram scale so I thought I would post some info here for the folks looking for it.
49.288 grams = Stock Samsung 2500mah Battery
49.313 grams = Ebay "Gold" 3000mah Battery
48.710 grams = Anker 2700mah Battery
Now for my opinion...
The Ebay Battery seems to be pretty much be the same as the stock battery in terms of useful life. The Anker Battery does seem to last a tiny bit longer however..
I would guess the extra weight of the Ebay vs Stock is due to the foil sticker on the Ebay battery as it feels slightly thicker.
I really don't think there is a stock sized battery out there that lasts much longer than the stock battery. If it did exist you can be sure that Samsung would make it and sell it to you as an accessory for $50. And honestly i'd pay $50 for a real 2900-3000 mah battery that fit under the stock battery cover.
If you want a tiny bit extra (Around 15 minutes screen on time) then the Anker 2700 is the best i've found so far, but just by a tiny margin. I average about 3 hours of screen on time with the stock battery.
Here's the link for the Ebay "Gold" Battery

First, thanks for sharing your data... a batteries weight (given the fixed volume) correlates well with its potential capacity. The battery aftermarket is flooded with extraordinary capacity claims most of which have little or no bearing on reality...
Second, the Ankor battery has received some good subjective reviews and your info seems to support them. Have you used it long enough to comment on how it's performance has held up over time?

Ripoffs
I wish I could find the link where a member dissected his battery and found there to be filler in place of where battery should have been. I remember it being a Hyperion battery and it supposedly being the same Ma/h as stock. I think the final conclusion was it was an 1800ma/h pack, with filler to make it weigh close to stock. That kind of crap is sooo shady.

The Gold ebay 3000mah battery has held up well and its pretty good quality construction, even though its really just a 2500mah battery.
The Anker doesn't have enough cycles on it yet to be able to tell...

Omniphil, appreciate the reply, no hurry on the Ankor info; if you find it holds up to day in an day out use, I'd sure be interested.

+ 1 Hyperion = trash.
I remember that post, I had already weighed the Hyperion by that time and found it was a full 10 grams less than the stock. So. while I wasn't surprised by his findings, I was... Extra disgusted....
I went back over the post, but I didn't find that the battery was padded for weight but only for volume...in a sad way kind of a shame.. I think I would have had a little more respect for the scam if Hyperion had at least gone to that much trouble.
