So here is the question. I' currently looking to buy a RN4 but I'm between Chinese and Indian version. Apparently, Chinese version has a much much better build quality (no plastic parts, it has chamfered edges, antenna lines) compared to Indian version. Indian version has a plastic on top and bottom and just doesn't look as pretty as Chinese version. BUT, I like flashing custom ROMs (that's why I'm here), and AFAIK, Snapdragon version SHOULD have better support for custom ROMs. So what is your suggestion? I'm planning on waiting (maybe month or two) to see how ROM development goes for both versions, and then make my chioce. What are your thoughts and predictions?
There's said to be a new model coming out in a few days, probably called the Note 4X in China and the Note 5 elsewhere, so best to wait a bit. Rumor is they'll both have a Snapdragon chip.

I hope you're right, I've seen leaks of the device gsmarena.com and there they show 4GB of RAM and Note 4X as device model, but researching some numbers I've realized it uses the same processor that is used in Indian variant rather than Snapdragon 653 everyone was talking about, so that leaked device might just be Indian variant of RN4 since it did leak before Indian variant was actually released.
Yes, I've noted that sometimes Xiaomi "leaks" details of a new model, but then the actual specs don't match up to the leaked details. So you have to check carefully. Will the new model really have Gorilla Glass4, for example? We'll see.
If your interested in the Snapdragon model its probably best to wait for the China SD model as the LTE bands are very limited on the India SD.

sd625 version should have more consistent battery life(10hours sot). Just wait few days , new china version should be same as indian version .
625 is the newest version, much powerful than 810, 801 and 650. It's confirmed now, 4x uses 625 soc. That would be battery efficient and good quality camera. Much better than helio x20....I will sell my mtk and buy sd 625 Redmi note 4x hehehe
Made two purchases off of eBay and had to get refunds because they were both Helio X20's.
All I want is a link to where I can buy the Note 4 or 4X with Snapdragon 625 CPU, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.
Thank you.
Found it!

Try at mi.com or flipkart or if you've enough time already visit a nearby Sangeeta mobile stOre or any kinda offline retail stores.. They'll probably hold rn4 stocks.
I'm located in the Florida, United States.

Dear All I have a choice between these 2 but have completely no idea whats the difference. They both have Snapdragon 625 and 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM is there any other difference? like camera lens or maybe quality of the RAM?
thanks for help
There is no such phone as Xiaomi Note 4 DS or Xiaomi Note 4 PRO.
There is Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 4 Global and Redmi Note 4x.
Variant with Snapdragon 625 SoC = codename Mido, and variant with Mediatek Helio SoC = codename Nikel.
There aren't any big differences between them, what camera sensor, screen and fingerprint manufacturer you get is completely random, homever if you need Band 20 LTE you should buy Redmi Note 4 Global, because Redmi Note 4x is missing this band.
You should buy model with Snapdragon 625 SoC, overall it's far superior. (amazing support on XDA, no overheating, much better battery life compared to Mediatek)
actually its nice that you are from Poland because Im too and below you will find some links to polish shoe at which they offer these under those names

You want the one from first link then, it supports LTE 800MHz which means it's Redmi Note 4 Global, and since you are from Poland you need this LTE band.
As the title says, i just got my device and waited the 7 days to unlock it, only to find that there is not much for my variant
why is this? will it ever change? what can a snapdragon variant user do?
thanks in advance
I don't believe it's been rooted.

Because that variant is as far as I'm aware is the US variant. Vast majority of dev work is on the non-US variants of Galaxy devices as vast majority of devs are non-US.
Hi guys,
Quick question.
Shouldn't we be able to choose from snapdragon or exynos SoC? I mean isn't this like lying to costumers about their product? I bought a S9+ and in overall the phone is good BUT there's a good difference when it comes to playing games on it. Snapdragon is more efficient than Exynos and I don't think that selling a S9+ with Snapdragon and S9+ for the same is correct.
What's is your opinion, guys? ?
Yes, it is legal.

It's legal... because by model number you can check device specifics.
Even with many things you'll find same model number but with different revisions where hardware has been changed in some way on each revision.
So you should check first which model you prefer.

I must pay more attention to it when buy smartphones next time.
Unfortunately, it is. What it isn't legal is if you buy it online claiming to be the Snapdragon version and you get the Exynos version.
I was fortunate enough to get a SD version (gift) lol the only down side is it doesn't have an unlockable BL

its fifty bajillion percent legal. is it being transparent to the consumer? not at all. That being said, yes, the model number is on the box, but who would know to check for that? The average android user isnt even aware that there are 3 very distinctly different sets of models for galaxy phones these days. All they know is that there is a + and a non+ model. I get it why they dont just lay it out there for folks to interpret as it can easily get murky for the average consumer.
Long story short is that Samsung is in a very complicated position that they created for themselves. They legally have to tell people that they are different models, but 99,9% of the users dont care in the slightest what processor it has
