Out of nowhere my display has a defect on the left side, a yellow line from top-down, ca. 1.5 cm, that can best be seen on light, better white, background. Maybe it results from the magnetic charger ....
Anyone else?

No, I never changed or even opened the back cover, so never heated it in any way.

Is weird , because that yellow/orange color appear when display suffers heat damage , try a stuck pixel fixer application .

well , magnets does not affect LCD screens
it seems HTC One X has same problem and it occours when phone get's hot , I think your problem is caused by heat too , since there is placed the heatpipe that gets almost same hot as CPU
My Z2 is on the SAT (sony official service) now with the same prob, but in my case, the line is in the right side of the screen. The magnetic charger is not the problem...
I have that exact same orange tint. Never heated my Z2, but it used to get BOILING hot during use.

I think it's a real rare problem, but it exists.
There seems to exist no easy repair solution.

yea because it basically burns the LCD , physical damage .
Maybe some devices have a low PV so CPU uses high voltage to run and get hot faster and if you live in a hot country then this is the result , dunno , just my opinion . Feel bad for you guys , I hope RMA fix it for you :-/
I had a similar problem in the past with a BQ tablet, the RMA solution were easy... New screen. My z2 is on guaranty until July (Xperia Care checked) and I've restored my TA locking the BL again, then I've installed a clean stock rom with PCCompanion, so I hope it comes back with a new screen in two, three weeks. It's not a firmware problem.
Let's see what they do...
its because of permanent heating damage, z2 collects heat from all the other areas of phone and dissipates towards that area near sim port .... i too have the same problem ..and your solution would be a screen replacement .

correct , because in that zone under display sits that heatpipe that collects all heat from SoC
If your phone is still under warranty they will replace your screen. It's normal and it affects many phones, it's the silicon between the glass and the LCD from prolonged use and the generated heat. Also do not overcharge your phone, they mostly appear next to the usb port.
I bought my z2 already used at 250€, but I feel like people who got it at 600€ got screwed. Can be damaged if goes underwater (waterproof anyone?), can be damaged if it heats too much, or if dust get in the lens (dust-proof anyone?)...
I don't know what do you guys think, but I'm not that happy with my z2 hardware.
Except that, I really think it's an excellent phone
Today I've received my Z2 from the RMA... New screen, new frame with new buttons, new back cover... Looks like a new one!!
Guaranty repaired at 0 cost... Now I can sell it next summer as a km 0 one...
BL unlocked, backup restored and writing with it
I've allso faced overheating after rooting with kingroot. The phone behaved really weird and did got very hot. Allso battery life was very poor.
you scare me guys , in my country summer peak temp is 36-38 celsius :-s
I hope my undervolt helps it not get lcd burns

Hello.
I just made myself an account after having received tons of help from this site without ever posting already, so please bear with me if I make any mistakes!
I've read and understood the forum rules, and I have also watched the video.
Is there any solution other than taking the phone to a professional? I have the exact same problem, although there are not as many gray spots, and I can also confirm that it is most definitely dust, seeing as the dark spots are constantly moving, appearing and disappearing.
Thanks in advance!
I recently received my i9100 back from vodafone after my phone developed the same problem - dust inside the camera lens.
I did have to reset my phone to stock and remove any evidence of using custom ROMs, but the fault was covered by the 2 yr warranty. I handed it to vodafone on a saturday and had my repaired phone back within a week. Thankfully I'd made a complete backup image using the clockworkmod app before i sent the phone away, so it didn't take long to have the phone back exactly as it was before. VillainRom all the way.
if its not on the lens [after you confirm it] why not to open the back cover of the device, clean the lens and put it back?
btw - how dust got into the device anyway??

THis seems to be OS problem.I also experienced same problem in my old N82.After reflashing the dot disapeared.
dust returns
Several months after having my phone repaired the dust is getting back into the lens agin. Its not visible on the photos yet, but I'm sure it will only get worse. Bugger.
There are two problems on the posted photos: a pink spot, and some dark spots. I assume we are not talking about the pink spot, as it is is a known problem with cameras on several phones...
As regards to the dark spots, the design of the lens cover should prevent any dust from getting in front of the lens - there is a thin foam gasket around the window on the back of the cover, and the camera module is supposed to be pressing firmly against it when the cover is properly installed, sealing off the dust. In case of dust problems like this I would guess something is wrong either with the cover itself (possibly a missing or damaged gasket), or with the way it's assembled. The camera module itself may also be seated the wrong way somehow.
If your phone is taken care of by a service technician, you can't do much about it, other than ask them to pay an extra attention to this gasket (and we all know how professionals usually react to customers telling them what to do, even though, frankly, a customer may be more qualified for the job sometimes). But if you are willing to open up your phone yourself, it should be fairly easy to spot a problem, because the camera module leaves a very clear impression on the gasket...

I've been facing similar issue simce the past 11 months and warranty has already expired. There's one black spot on the right side of my camera images. I'm trying to live with it. Searched the entire Internet, couldn't find any tutorial to open and clean the camera unit. And without any tut I'm not going to open up my device as I'm scared as ****.

What you need is not a tutorial for cleaning the camera, but general disassembly instructions. You can definitely find them, either separate, or as part of the S2 service manual. I've got it, but don't have it handy right now, sorry... You don't need to rip your phone apart, just to remove the backplate. It is very easy, nothing to be scared about. Check my earlier msg just a few posts back, make sure you have a good gasket around the lens piece -- if it's damaged or misaligned, the dust WILL get inside.
I just started having this problem a few weeks ago. One little spec of dust had gotten into the lens of mine. I'm thinking about unscrewing the back of and cleaning it with a glass cloth rather than taking it back to my carrier to get it serviced.
Hey guys, i also was facing the problem with dust on the lense and the covering glass having a lot of tiny scratches. Couldn't take a sharp photo anymore, focussing took ages, so camera was kinda useless at all.
I bought a middle chassis at amazon, costs about 12 €. Today i changed the middle chassis and cleaned the camera lense.
Changing the chassis and cleaning took about 20 minutes, doing everything very carefully and using this tutorial:

So, just wanted to share the results!
See attachments for before and after.

Wow! How is your lens so fogged up??
I got mine replaced a few months back (warranty) and there was only a small dust spec.
My Xperia P is 7 months old and does not have any warranty...
Recently i noticed that something is leaking from illumination bar , but my phone was never in contact with water, so there is not a single chance that water has entered , the leakage is not giving any problem to keys , the keys are working fine but the leakage is growing I guess :crying:
could this lead to any big issue???

Are you sure it is a leak? Is it static or does it move? Because if it doesn't change as you move the phone, it may not be a leak.
If you look closely, you'll see that the illumination bar is not a solid part, its a top piece glued to a low piece. It might not have been properly glued, and with time it becomes worse.
If it is not any liquid in there, and it doesn't mess with the soft keys, i don't suggest to try and fix it yourself, cause it might get even worse. Just try to look past it, like a dead pixel or so
I don't think it will lead you to any major problem. The worse that could happen is that if it gets a lot further unglued the lower part of the illumination bar can become a bit wobbly
Can't post any pictures as my main camera is crap :L.
On my Xperia U, it did that on both sides the 2nd day I had it. It's not water, and it won't get any worse. The glue seems like a plausible idea. When I hard bricked it for the third time, I sent it off for repair. My guess is it sat in a Warehouse for a week, as it took ages to come back. Anyway, when I was finally reunited with it after a month or so, it had gone. Like invisible to the eye. I was so surprised I thought they had replaced more then the chip this time. They said they didn't, so I was just great full they swapped the LED bar. After 30 mins of this rooting, flashing and doing a Nandroid, it had come back. So it seems that it was the heat.
My advice if you can't stand it is to keep it cold WHENEVER you aren't using it.
But that's just me...

If it is static, i bet that it is a glue problem. And the heat, like Strike_Riku mentioned, might be a plausible explanation.
I love my Xperia P, even more than my girlfriend's iPhone 4S, but i've got to say, this is the kind of thing that makes the difference and gives value to the extra cash you pay for an Apple product. Poor manufacture is one of the cons of this phone. I'm not having this exact problem, but still it is of some concern. My bottom cap after just 2 weeks of use has started to move, instead of being firmly attached to the body of the phone. And i guess that it will get worse.
This is just the kind of thing that you'll have to get used to.
Without warranty, there is not much you can do without some risk to your soft keys.
But if you do want to slightly risk it, you could try to heat to that area with a hot air blower or a hair dryer, in hope of solving it by the glue melting again and pressing the two halves of the bar, getting it properly glued.
Or it could do the exact opposite, and make it worse
How can you not have warranty? Everyone gets warranty from Sony for 1 year it's the manufacturer warranty, but I have similar thing you described here, isn't that big a deal, doubt they'll do anything for you

To send your phone off for this small issue, hmm i wouldn't want two weeks without it
Bro, I too poste a thread for it yesterday.
I too have the Same Xperia P Silver and the same Plastic Cover
I am having the same issue u are having, But the Glue leak is more of center in my Case. The Glue leak Has covered my Center Home button, I wish i could post images but Forum wont Allow till i reach the 10 posts Mark!
I am having warranty and havent unlocked my fone yet and i can give it to the service center!
Would the fone be replaced or the Illumination bar itself?
And It can take max a month too, to get it replaced. I am confused whether to give it or not, the Glue leak is gradually increasing!
My Xperia P also have the exact same issue. When i press the bar from both sides it will go away , but after some time it comes back. I think the glue between the bar is going off. I also dont have the warranty.

if u are having warranty then u should go to service centre , and i think they will change the illumination bar not the phone
I am also having the same problem. But giving it to service centre is not a useful decision.
First , they will consider it as a design, not a flaw
Second, even if they change the strip , then the problem will arise again.
my past experience with service centre is not good. they will surely give more scratches to your phone, than you currently have
you can buy spare strip from here :
http://www.ebay.com/itm/271177609149?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
Got this on my U since about a month after I bought it, unlocked bootloader but they'll fix it or I'll just take them to court, not going to bother now though, will leave till closer to the warrant end.

I've installed hundreds of screen protectors in my life, DSLRs, phones, laptops, etc. and it takes 24 to 48 hours for the screen protector to fully settle. My suggestion would be to wait and see, if it doesn't get fixed by itself, means it's defective or there was something wrong at the installation.

Sony calls it "shatterproof film". Present on xperia Z, T, V, and several others, CMIIW. Some say the shatterproof film on XZU has improved on the oleophobic properties from the XZ's, which seems to be true, based on some videos in youtube, but hey, it's not glass and supposedly isn't as hard. So scratches beware.
And they say removing the film means removing your warranty

as there is no clarification from Sony.. the defective will count as user fault

This is sad really...
Why is it the people doing the complaining have just one post to their name. This started like 3 weeks back. Only one post. You'd think they'd be a bit more worked up right. You read the craziest things on the sony forum.
Have noticed a similar trend on product review sites, for 5 star as well as one star reviews. Just one post and post date is the same as join date and these people are never to be heard from again.
Why does glass break ? either stress or a temperature differential.
Don't cool an overheated phone under the tap. It might 'self crack'.
The most possible reason is overheat.
The water proof phones like z, z1 come with strong adhesive, which expands and then break the glass.
You have to send it for repair or DIY repair.
An original glass can keep the phone waterproof. So you should be careful when select the replacement part for repair.
You can get origianl Sony Xperia phones replacement parts at wirigs.com.
Photoshopped. I can tell by the pixels and from seeing quite a few shops in my time.
Don't think I've known a set of owners to be so protective over the opinion of their device.
Do you think that there is a conspiracy going on?
Is a fact that most people only turn to the Internet when they have an issue with their phone, so only having one post would be normal.
Mine has a cracked back too.... And I'm not a new poster

could you upload some pic please..
it's definitely an overheat problem so please guys stop covering up for Sony, if this doesn't happen to you now it could be affected by it later
my advice do not shoot lots of 4K video as it happen to be the most process that rise the temp. very high, till Sony resolve the issue stay away of any hot environment
http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/05/3...peria-z1-cracking-screen-issue-sony-responds/
However, Sony released the following statement to Watchdog, highlighting for the first time that there is an issue:
“In a small proportion of cases, screens have indeed cracked with no identifiable cause and in these instances the phone has been repaired for free.”
sight.. Finally, and there are still people who says that's a Photoshop or an impossible to happen without any force
anyone from UK guys.. can you confirm the statement from Sony?
The statement was made on watchdog, now that they have made the statement on such an open outlet, I imagine any returns on cracked screen with zero frame damage will get a repair under warranty. Whether cover is for a single crack or multiple fractures remains to be seen

Took my Z2 back to CPW today after it got a small crack near the camera after i have been using satnav for an hour. Service centre said sony know about the issue and if you cant feel the crack then it will be heat related. I noticed when i took my phone of the dash the gap between the glass and bezel had grown. I think when it strunk down something might of got stuck in the gap and caused the crack.

Mine went back to ee's service centre... They say it's accidental damage. Had to pay £40 to be repaired.
Selling it so had to have it done officially rather than doing it myself.

yes
if your device isnt water resistant then it isnt air tight, so if your device is sealed and your are increasing the preassure by squeezing your phone a tiny bit then its theoreticly water resistant..
and since your preasure value should only increase if your flaps are close this only increases the validity of this test.
(mine do atleast )
Tnx
Thanks for your fast reply , can you reply me this too siince I see you have Z2 like me http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help/sony-xperia-z2-xperias-mode-t3047209

Btw this is how my Z2 reacts on pressure sensor when I press it from 1013 it goes to 1023 then it comes to back 1013 in faster then second when I stop pressing it, also when I keep pressure (my thumbs on phone few secs) it goes from 1023 to 1013 slowly even if I'm not removing my thumbs from phone, so I hope it's good or should it stay from 1013 to 1023 whole time I'm pressing it (not removing thumbs)?
It's a normal thing when you pressed and pressure jump at first and come back to normal. It's because pressue stabilizes it self in phone.
So?
also when I keep pressure (my thumbs on phone few secs) it goes from 1023 to 1013 slowly even if I'm not removing my thumbs from phone, so I hope it's good or should it stay from 1013 to 1023 whole time I'm pressing it (not removing thumbs)? So this is normal too?
It's normal, nothing to worry about but for me, a real waterproof test is when you actually put your phone in water ! ;D
I have to disagree.
If your front or back glass gets loose, it won't be waterproof anymore but when you compress the phone it will temporarily close the gap and you'll see pressure rise in your phone.
Oh

Oh man you shouldn't reply me that . My Z2 has 2 minor gaps like all waterproof xperias have, sheet of small and thin paper can go through but not deep. I'm not scared of that but my Z2 creaks too, when I push it stronger below sony logo on back. With all that pressure test works great like it should and guy from which I bought phone told me he used it in pool, I also saw pictures and videos he did not deleted but I'm still scared to put it in water. Ordering new usb and microsd flaps from ebay now and magnetic charger so I would not need to open flaps anymore, device is going to be 9 months old soon .
PS: Sony said that flaps are not thing you need to be concerned of with waterproofing.
I'm sorry but I don't know about that gaps.
Please tell me what to look for.
My z2 has the frame that moves a bit, around the power button, and it worries me a lot because I really need it to be waterproof....
it's not a 100% sure test. I tested my phone with this method and it worked, but then I tried to submerge my phone into water and a few hours later my touchscreen got broken. here is a link to my thread about the water damage.

http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/04/0...aps-in-chassis-and-overheating-with-4k-video/ you can put a sheet of paper between it.
Did someone tried test with pressing screen and blocking those 3 little holes on the bottom of phone which are loudspeakers. Pressure stays same in my case 1005 whole time I'm covering that 3 holes with other hand and nit removing pressure with my other hand (squeezing device).
