How can I change back to 4.4.4 my battery life has been horrible and some apps have not been working. I really need to go back to 4.4.4

Hi,
I recently got a new Z Ultra GPe as a replacement to my old one. I had OS version 5.0.1 before but the replacement I received is 4.4 and tells me that my phone is up to date. I expected I would get updates but that doesn't seem to be the case. Does anyone know if the OTA updates are still around and if I should be getting them by the normal method (rather then having to manually sideload)? For my needs I'm ok with a the non-rooted stock experience so I don't really want to deviate from that (and I don't really want to void my warranty as I have had to rely on that already). Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I looks like the OTA was pulled (well no longer being pushed) just before Christmas. The 5.0.1 is a little buggy so I would stay on 4.4.4.
Also note that there is no safe way to revert to 4.4.x from 5.0.x unless you root on 4.4.4 and back up the TA.

Thanks, but I have 4.4 and not 4.4.4. Version 4.4 is super buggy and basically not usable. 5.0.1 was very usable in my opinion. If I can get from 4.4 to 4.4.4 that would be a great place to start. If I remember correctly there were three updates to get from 4.4 to 4.4.4.
If the OTAs are pulled, then why are phones with 4.4 being released into the users hands? I'll have to talk to google support about this. Is anyone else in the same boat I am?
Is only the 4.4.2 OTA not being pushed, or are all Z Ultra GPe updates not being pushed?
Thanks.

I'm not sure what ones aren't being pushed any more, but they were all still being pushed just before christmass. You could put 4.4.2 on a SD card and flash that from recovery and see if the 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 OTAs arrive, if not they are archived in the GPe section and I have copies here as well.
Either way I would root 4.4.4 and do a TA backup, it will give you many more options if you ever need to roll back for any reason.
Bugs of note on 5 are:
memory leak
some wifi issues for some users
I have micro hangs (may well be from the memory leak)
OK. Thanks. I am going to do the process here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2761698 (different method but same result) to get to 4.4.2 and see what happens.
I got the new xperia C5 ultra which still hasn't received the lollipop 5.0.2
So I was eager to get as close to it as possible and ended up in a small problem.
What I did was install the launcher for xperia z3 running 5.0.2 as an update (thinking I can roll back"uninstall update"if there was a problem) and now it isn't working properly and I can't find a way to get the correct version back
Yes, I could factory reset the phone but I personally have tweaked it alot spending alot of time. I wouldn't want it to go for a waste
So please kindly help
Thanks in advance
Hello and sorry if I'm putting this in the wrong place thou had a quick question
Will this work?
Currently I'm on 5.1.1 23.4.a.1.232 xperia z2 d6503 100% stock
Can I simply downgrade to 4.4.4 then upgrade to a pre-rooted 5.1.1 fw?
With flashtool
Any thoughts about this? I've have been thinking about trying this for a few days now and I'm really itching to try it.
EDIT:
And I found this just after I posted http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/general/how-to-root-sony-xperia-z2-5-1-1-23-4-1-t3238346
Thou all those hundreds of Google hits I went through I did not stumble upon that one.

Follow this guide and you'll have your rooted phone without problems
Hi all,
From the list of latest 5.0.2 firmwares on Sammobile which would be the best European firmware to flash my phone with? Preferably one without and carrier bloatware.
I'm currently on the latest UK BTU firmware but the battery life is shockingly bad.
Thanks.
My personal experience after testing lollipop is that any 5.0.2 version consumes more battery than any version of kitkat. Are you considering going back to kitkat along with a factory reset? Think of it.
Due to the security changes You cannot toggle mobile data (from widget, tasker, llama, power toggles) without rooting Your phone in 5.x.x. - because of that I decided to go back to Kitkat from Lollipop....funny, but true.
I don't want to go back to KitKat as I see this as a backward step really. All I want is a stable phone with good battery life (I know that's difficult on the Alpha though )
I was using 5.x.x for 2 months, it was stable just like KitKat. Battery life was worse, but I had mobile date enabled almost all the time, so can't really compare 1:1. For me, fact that You have to root phone just for ability to enable/disable mobile data from Tasker/Llama etc. was big backward step. I hope, that we will get Mashmallow soon (new permission system), but applications have to be updated to the newest Android SDK to work as described.
At the moment I am still, very happy, on my pre-rooted Lollipop stock ROM.
Is Marshmallow an improvement and should I upgrade?
If I upgrade, going back could proof to be difficult, so I ask here what are the experiences with Android 6 on the Z2 tablet?
Especially, how does the battery life of MM compares to LL?
