Did you wipe before flashing?
Make sure you also wipe boot and system under the "mounts" option at the root of clockwork recovery before flashing

So, you are saying that your phone starts in Recovery mode every time you power it on? If it does that then you need to wipe data/factory, cache partition, dalvik cache and then go to Mounts and storage -> mount/system -> format/system and reinstall a new ROM, yours probably got corrupted.
I dont know whether such a question can be asked, but i am altogether in a soup.
I have the problem of continuous boot loop.I tried cache wipe, but no it didnt work. i have gone through the forum and i have come to the conclusion that i will go for a factory reset.
But the real problem is i have lot of data that is not yet backed up (data which is in phone) and i am not able to do the same as the phone once switched on, continuously restarts.
Can anyone guide me on how to backup at such a situation ? The PC does not detect while the above happens.
How can i do a backup?
My phone is not rooted and has stock ICS firmware.
Please help
What version are you at?
You can go to Recovery and hit backup, that will probably backup everything and then you can just restore it.
If you are on 4.0.4 do NOT try this, it will potentially brick your device
Cheers.

I think i am at 4.0.1 but not sure...
You mean to say to do backup in recovery mode (Vol Up + Home + Power) , if so i am see only below options :
- reboot system now
- apply update from external storage
- wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache partition
- apply update from cache
- test redbend fota[FS]
Just to let you know, the phone does not even stay at home screen for even 5 seconds. It just simply restarts repeatedly

Try snappea or qtadb(if u want to backup only apps)

If you want to backup all your phone data before doing a factory reset, I would suggest you going to download mode and flashing a new kernel that implements the CWM recovery.
Then you can go into your recovery and make a full backup of your phone on your sd card. It is also possible to mount your sd card as mass storage device and copy the files to your computer. And all of this can be done from the recovery.
Re: [Q] Data backup without powering on device?
Can you advise me on which kernel i should use ?

Thanks all for your help
Actually i backed up all my data without flashing a kernel.
All i did was put CWM Recovery 4.0.1.5 in my SD card and went into recovery mode and selected "apply update from external storage" and selected the CWM recovery zip. And then i was able to do a complete backup without a problem. Later on i did a factory reset, and all is well with my phone now.
hi guys

twrp>advanced>wipe everything except external sd card and then install... OR if that doesn't work compare the md5 of your downloaded file with the md5 of the file that has been uploaded.
check if both the md5 match.
at times downloads are not proper->then md5 dont match->rom wont install.

Its not a hard brick, its a soft brick.
You need to download the original firmware file and flashed with Odin.
Try this
Download the correct firmware for your phone
Go to sammoble for firware
Download Odin for Samsung
Make sure phone is at least 50 percent charged
Put phone into download mode
But is it normal that oem unlock not blue? So there stands only that its already unlocked..
So THANKS to you!!!

yes, Its normal.
When you unlock it ( became blue ) then your boot loader is unlock and you can flash custom recover and custom rom as well.
But why i had the problem that twrp can't mount system? Do i have to unlock oem after flash, too? But at the first time, twrp was able to mount it... ?

unlock OEM then boot into download mode
Flash recovery.
Wipe data and internal storage
Then flash custom rom
So now whe n i flash twrp, twrp isn't abel to mount all data (system, data, and so on)
Tough luck my friend, shouldn't have rooted your phone and why did you, root isn't needed anymore, 2 or 3 years ago maybe but not now. Maybe contact Samsung and tell them what's happened lol.

because twrp cannot decrypt Samsung's data, the only way it can is doing a format data, that means deleting everything to be able to write and mount data afterwards because the new data will be uncrypted, reason why before playing with root and twrp you need to backup all your stuff, once it is gone, there is no way back. So read a lot before playing with phones and their OS

I had a backup.. but before that all.. twrp was not able to restore it.. so after flash oruginal firmware via odin, my phone was reseted..
well, now you mention you had a backup, did you check the day the backup was made, that it was successfull? I guess, maybe the data partition is still good? so you could get your stuff back
I had once a twrp back that fail to restore 3 times, but at the 4th it went through ok.
