How to fix a soft-brick with broken port? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was running cm12 on my s2 using twrp and decided to flash cm13. However, after I factory reset (from default Settings app) I was stuck on the TeamWin boot screen. The usb port is broken, and will very occasionally work if I bend the plug backwards (I charge the battery through a different s2 that has power button issues), so I can’t use odin and flash a recovery through download mode. I have read that jig plugs can be used to fix bricked phones. Is this true a phone with a broken mini-usb port? Or should I try replacing the usb port on the phone?

Replacing the usb port is your only real option. Here is a guide I wrote that will help you do just that......

Have you thought of combining the good parts of both phones to make one fully functional unit?
If you decide to do that, just make sure the rev number on the usb flex cables match each other (more info on that in the guide)........

[Q] Phone is not recognized in download mode (hardware problem)

Hi guys, i realy need your help, my phone is dead.
My I9100 worked fine for two years, I flashed lots of custom firmwares by Odin. Half a moth ago, when I was going to sleep, I plugged in the charger as usually, and noticed, that it started beeping occasionally. On the display it indicated smth like: Charging... than Not Charging... than Charging and so on.
I thought that I plugged the charger incorrectly and replugged it, but it didn't helped. I was very tired and just simply turned the soud off and left the phone charging. In the morning it indicated that it is charging even when the charger was unplugged.
So I've flashed the firmware - no help, than kernel from stock to fillz - no help , than siyah than again to stock - no help. All flashings were maid via CWM. I realized that flashing will not help when I turned off the phone and it was indicating that it is charging.
I decided not to do anythig. Only USB mode didn't worked because when you want to use your phone as USB you should open the apropriate mode on the phone than there will be smth like : plug the USB data cable to enter the USB data transfer mode. I couldn't do this because my phone thought that the cable is already plugged. In forums i've got hints that my micro usb should be cleaned or small board should be replaced. So i decided to clean it. I disassembled the phone and cleaned that board with micro USB. Than turned on the phone, and connected the cable. Phone recognized it and I managed to transfer files from pc to phone. From this point I can say that all terminals on micro USB are ok.
When i unplugged the cable, phone thought that it is plugged((
The most awful part:
I decided to flash it one more time and go to stock via backup made by CWM a year ago.
But during this process the phone made a reboot by itself and after that there was no loading. I can see only name of the device and thats it.
No recovery. Only download mode.
When i connect it to PC in download mode, there is a sound that USB is connected but the device is Unknown. There is no any information about this device in dev manager on PC. I tried two USB cables, all usb ports, two laptops, all versions of USB drivers for my phone.
Earlier, drivers worked well, but now i can't understand where is the problem: Is the problem still connected with my micro usb port or i just erased boot sector and it is already brick.
I gave my phone to service center, they told that they can't help me with this. They say that usb is ok, we don't know why it is not detecting by pc.
Can the board replacement help in this issue or maybe i can do smth. in linux with my device ??? I'll appreciate any suggestions.
Yesterday I talked to representatives of service center and they told me that the problem is that internal memory is damaged and they cant flash the phone.
I took the phone and tried to flash it via Heimdall with brick fix pit.
After using this pit file, the phone was flashed normally and even turned on normally.
But in the phone info menu I saw no any data about internal memory. (It was damaged and required format). I tried format through phone menu and it did nothing.
I decided to flash the phone via Odin with normal 16 GB pit file and had a bad luck. I experienced freez during repartition. After this, phone is a complete brick.
When I connect it to PC without battery pressing vol down and rower buttons it connects as unknown device but there is nothing on the phone display. No recavery no download mode. Nothing - just reflection of my frustrated face).
Currently i'm tring to make a Jtag, maybe it'll put it in the download mode, but hope is dying....
I've herad somewhere that it is possible to put it in the download mode in linux. If somone did this, could you please give me the contact of this person?

SGS2 is not recognized as a USB device by windows

We had a power bump the other day while my phone was charging. since then the computer started to not recognize the usb device. I downloaded new drivers and tried all the old tricks I used to use to get it accepted by 4 different windows PC. I have tried multiple usb cables as well still no luck. The phone is still charging but sometimes it will be at 15% and then the indicator will flash to 100% charged and I have to restart the phone to get the indicator to ready properly and continue charging.
I have tried a factory reset to see if all the phone needed was a kick in the butt to start working again but that did nothing but lose my data. I think the usb mini port is blown from the bumps but if anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. I am on the jellybean official all phone details are in my signature.
Is there any way to update the firmware and do rooting without a usb? Can i take external sd card and load stuff i want onto there and get to a rooted unlocked phone via recovery mode?
Replace the USB board/port. Cheap/quick/easy to do yourself. KeithRoss39 has a guide in General section which has all the info you need. Flashing stuff to/messing with your phone without having a way to recover (I.E the ability to Odin flash via USB) is foolish & invariably leads to a busted phone with no way of fixing it until you fix the USB board/port. So you might as well do that first.

[Q] USB connection to PC suddenly not working. OTG and charging works.

Hello, I have issues connecting my S3 international model (i9300) to any PC. It has CM11 since at least 6+ months and it worked just fine and connected to my PC two days ago just fine.
Some days ago, it started bootlooping because of the common power button stuck problem [turned on by itself when battery inserted, and rebooted in the Samsung logo, which doesn't even let you go to DOWNLOAD mode or Recovery because it just reboots after a few seconds]
Yesterday I disassembled it following fixit guides and youtube step by step guides to make sure I didn't break anything. I saw the button problem was internal (the button apparently works fine, but internally it has a closed circuit so it seems as pressed). I assembled my phone again and went to bed. Today it was working without bootloop. I saw this as an opportunity to make all the required backups just in case it went to bootloop again but I couldn't get anything from it. Windows doesn't recognize it at all, not even during boot. Here is what I tried:
*Tried in several PCs/Notebooks/OS with different cables that work with other phones
*In all cases it charges the battery, but the PC doesn't see it as a device.
*I rebooted the phone by software (so I don't press the power button at risk of getting bootloop again) going to terminal emulator and using 'reboot' command.
*Rebooting the phone connected to the PCs doesn't either cause any device to be detected by the PC during the booting of the phone.
*Thinking it might be the port of my phone, I tried an OTG adaptor and several pendrives. They all were detected by the phone and I was able to write and read the USB drives.
Click to collapse
At first I suspected I left a ribbon/flex cable not connected to the board, but being able to use OTG USB drives and being able to charge it didn't convince me it was the case. I want to avoid disassembling it without knowing first which ribbon to look at and any other test/information you could tell me to provide in order to find the solution.

So... i managed to brick phone with dead usb port

I wiped cache and davik but i think i accidently clicked on system, that's only explanation why phone would be stuck in bootloop, and twrp says there's no OS installed, it'd be easy to unbrick with odin but... usb port is kinda dead, fast charging while using bad usb cable burned charging port, i thought replacing only connector would fix, it did at some point (charging chip on board is damaged), it takes 6 hours to charge from 0 to 100, fast charging isn't working, it is detected by pc but can't tell what is connected, just reacts that something is plugged in and uninstalling/installing samsung drivers also triggers it, but it can't do anything else, Galaxy S6 doesn't have sd card slot (cmon samsung) so is there any way to unbrick phone exept replacing whole daughterboard?
my idea is to use terminal to download img, is it possible?

anyone?

Redmi 5A no more BRICK!!!

Redmi 5A Remove your phone in "black screen"
1. Prepare the battery cover cap, just click on it with a bank card, so that the hex does not slip.
2.The base cover is covered with a cover, THIS WARRANTY LOSS CAUSES!
But you do not have to take the phone to a service, where you have to make sure that the motherboard is replaced by a motherboard, and you do not have to spend weeks!
3.Remove the battery and the motherboard cable (there are a couple of similar connectors, the connectors for the battery cable will be in the middle)!
4. Find the EDL points on the motherboard and use a tweezer (I specifically use an Iphone clip), and then tweak them with the tweezers, then connect a PC or laptop with a USB cable, and you have to set up the following:
https://www.xiaomigeek.com/download-xiaomi-usb-driver-windows.html
https://www.xiaomigeek.com/download-xiaomi-mi-flash-tool.html
Also to fire a fastboat MIUI Rom
5. After installing and installing the driver, install the MIUI FLASH TOOL and download the downloaded and unloaded fastboot ROM into the application, then click on the fresh button (then the clamp does not need to be held in the EDL points) and it appears that which USB port is connected to the phone.
6. Click on the Flash gonbra and fastboot ROM (we will be jamming and starting to install)
7.We're afraid of planting the plant, then we will disconnect the phone from the USB cable. We will put the battery cable back on. We will put everything back on the phone, then put the phone back on, and the phone is ready to go !!!
You can install TWRP and then use TWRP to help you ...
I was hoping to help and do not have to "brick" put the phone on the shelf!
Hi!
Why and how did you brick your phone in the first place? Carelessness?
