Verizon pushed out Google System Update to my phone several days ago. After a couple of hours phone rebooted and then hung at the Kyocera logo. Every 2 minutes it just buzzes. I've tried to turn it off and on but it does not respond. I went to Verizon and after looking at it they said I need a new phone. They won't replace it. I've had this phone for 5 months.
Is there anything that could be done to fix this?
thanks

Can anyone tell me if there is any way to restore this phone?
Same story here, nearly word for word. See my thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/bootlooping-lollipop-update-t3356756
I sent my phone to the Kyocera Repair Center in El Paso, Texas. They've had it for a couple of weeks now, no word on if they can repair it, or how much it will cost exactly. Their website has a pricing schedule that suggests it will be a reasonable fee, if they can do it. Here's the webpage to get the info you need to send it in, if you choose to go that route: https://www.kyoceramobile.com/support/repairs/united-states/faq/
thanks for taking the time to reply. If you don't mind, let me know if they fixit. I have a two year contract on that phone. Paying for nothing

Hi everyone,
I recently began experiencing network issues on my Vibrant (would not work on 3G, only EDGE) which did not go away with any troubleshooting steps.
Yesterday, it crapped out completely and refused to connect to the network at all. No calls, no data, just a "Not Registered On Network" message. It wasn't the SIM card either.
I did a soft reset, hard reset, factory reset, and ended up flashing the latest Bionix rom (1.9?) with Voodoo and the whole deal. That still didn't work so I called T-mobile and requested they replace it under warranty.
So my questions are:
1) The phone is not only rooted, but flashed with Bionix 1.9 (JAC UV Voodoo). Will that cause problems with the warranty?
2) If yes, would flashing to a stock ROM fix that (disable Voodoo and restore from Odin)?
3) If the warranty is VOID, what will TMO do?
I asked the rep but she wasn't very helpful at all.
Thanks!
You coyld just delete everything on the phone all apk all apps and send it in all there going to so is reinstall there info when you send it back I don't think that they communicate with eachother about stuff like that if they did customer service would know more about flashing roms and actually be able to help more when something gos wrong other than a series of resets
The guy on the couch
I would flash it back to stock via odin... why take the risk they might say something. Its easy takes and takes next to no time to do.

That's what I'm thinking too. I'm going to do that. Does that clear root though?
@willsnews, I'll try that too. I don't want any trace of my stuff on the phone anyway.
replacement phone
ezspassov ... mind sharing the status of your replacement? my tmo samsung vibrant (18 days old) crapped out on the 12th within 24 hours of receiving the JI6 update from tmo. phone will no longer boot. got it to boot a couple of times but all the apps force close even after a user data wipe (guessing it's a hardware problem). tmo was to express ship out a replacement but today the order status was changed to BACKORDERED! did you get your phone or is it also backordered?

Yes, flashing the stock rom through odin will remove any system traces of root. On the other hand, make sure your smart and delete any evidence manually through the file manager on your internal and external sd card. For example: Don't leave a bunch of zip files lying around named "Root", "Bionix rom", etc....Be smart...

That's crazy because I am having the same issue actually. I had to order a new one.
Anyway, the loyalty rep assured me it would be easier for me to just do a warranty exchange (and assured me it would be brand new, which I doubt very much but eh whatever) instead of of sending back this one and doing a whole new order and waiting long times for my account to be credited and all this crap.... anyway I went along with it. Well I called today to get the tracking number cause she told me to and found out it was on backorder. Hoping it isn't on backorder for to long cause I want to get to enjoy my phone fully.
I asked if I could just send this phone back, they could cancel the exchange, and then place a new order (the backorder is only for exchanges they told me) that way I know for sure I am receiving a new phone cause I am still under the 14 day buyers remorse period but after a 20 minute wait, yes 20 minutes, they came back and said they couldn't place the order at all (I was going to pay with my cc).
So I said eh whatever just go ahead with the exchange in hopes that it won't be to long before they come. I know the rep told me they've been on backorder since the 13th, smh.
So..
So what if I had flashed nero beta 2 and the phones rooted and not only can I not enter clockwork recovery anymore but my phone isn't recognized on the USB ports so I can't Odin back to stock. I get the "USB device not recognized" even though I've manually installed all samsung vibrant drivers. How would I go about erasing all the data now? Any help would be great cause I'm not sure what I can do with the phone now.
I am having problems with zte warp phone. my cousin bought it 6 months ago from a boost store (in our inner city in upstate NY). He tried to activate it and was told it was involved in an insurance claim and would take up to 30 days to be cleared. My cousin put it aside for a month then decided to flash a rom and recovery and ended up bricking the phone. Someone he met at work offered to fix it so he paid him 40 bucks and the guy at work gave him back a working phone. He never activated it since he waited all that time he ended up buying a galaxy s2. well last week he gave it to his father to replace a broken non android phone. Boost would not activate it due to its now running cricket software. If you dial 211 or 611 it goes to cricket. HERE IS where it gets goofy. He gave me the phone a few days ago to see if I can find a file to flash it back to Boost. So far I have not found anything. Tonight I heard a strange ringtone and the warp was ringing. I missed the call. I then tried calling my cousin from it and received a fast busy signal. I then added our area code 585 then his number and the call went through. BUT someone else answered. I asked him what his number was and he told me to F myself I called him. this was not my cousin. Under system info it lists a phone number on the phone but when I called it a woman in Florida answered and said she has had her phone number 10 years.
I am lost over this. Im guessing somewhere along the way this was cloned possibly?
Any way I am trying to convert this back to boost. Can anyone point me in the right direction? The boost account is already paid for and set up but they said they can not allow us to program the phone while it has "Cricket firmware" on it.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks

I told them that my phone was overheating and would freeze and shut off while on and off the charger after updating to ME7 (which it actually does). They told me to put it in safe mode for 24 hours and see what they find. I know I have to unroot it before putting it in safe mode. Anyone else have to do this to get a replacement? How did it work out for you?
That sounds like BS to me. Someone might tell you this in hopes that you somehow solve your own problem. But, I would just get irate and tell them that it's their responsibility so give me a claim number and tell me where to send the phone.

Or just tell them you already put it in safe mode and still will not work

Sigh Verizon and their Walmart Techs.

I called verizon today, talked to the tech told him my phone kept losing 4g service and dropping my wifi signal all the time. Told them I restored it already twice and it didn't fix the issue. Tech said looks like you covered all area's you'll recieve your replacement in 2-4 days.
It's that simple :good:
My replacement phone I just received 2 days ago had no wifi strength and the bluetooth would skip when I was holding the phone (anyone ever heard of that happening?) I called them last night and told them I done everything I was supposed to (factory reset, troubleshooting) they over-nighted me a CLNR got it this morning. I'd call again and ask for someone else because I've never heard of safe mode on the phone-they just didn't want to do their job I believe....
I just wanted to make sure they can't get inside your phone or anything by putting it in safe mode. What should I tell them when I call back. Any messages or info come up when I take it out of safe mode that the tech may ask for?

Four tries before working replacement
I too had overheat problems w/ my phone(s). Including the original phone Verizon sent me four phones before a fulling working one arrived. The certified program, in my experience, is crap. I've gone through multiple models, S4 & Razr MAxx, when phones were replaced for faulty operation. Good news is the last, working, model S4 I recieved was still on MDK. It was rooted within the hour after receiving it. Eclipse ROM and never a problem since. Be persistent, call back as often as needed, and don't take no for an answer. And safe mode, bunch of bull****. Factory reset is only reliable fix. About half the time...

What they said-def keep calling back. I read in a post a few months back about someone saying Verizon was able to get into our phones to help look for the problem not sure how truthful that is-but I would not allow them to hop into your phone they could prob see if you rooted or not. My replacement was MDK thankfully all the bloat they put on these phones really burn me up. And sometimes it does take several replacements before you find one that is perfect-my husband went through 7 Rezound's before he got a good working one. Now I'm the one with the issues LOL
Hi all,
So I went to T-Mobile for a replacement for a 2 month old S5. It has been randomly rebooting and not taking phone calls for a couple of weeks now, and hopefully, was just a defective unit.
I have root on my current phone, and plan to root the replacement, but since I have a new phone with guaranteed stock, untripped knox, is this a good time to play around with roms on the old defective unit? I have a few days before I have to send the old one back. Does T-Mobile check stuff like that on defective units, or do they just send it to a refurb facility or junk it?
My s5 has the same issue as yours. I called T mobile and the support guys recommend me to remove the sd card. However, after 24 hours, my phone randomly restarted one time, when I open the Youtube. I am no idea what cause the phone reboot. I am think about call T-moblie again for a replacement. any idea?
so my phone just randomly powerd off i pulled the battery and tried to restart it. it went to lg logo and then into the device can not be checked for corruption (im using Tmobile-LGV10_flash_Root_Stock_MM_6_0 from https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-v10/general/step-step-guide-rooting-lg-v10-using-t3382631 and i am not blaming anyone) now some times it does not power on at all. i cant get into adb nor fastboot. i have tried to soft reset and hard reset but it wont do anything.
any advise into getting my phone running again?
I have contacted LG got an rma from them hopefully the "can't check for corruption" does not void the warranty if I have one. I bought it in 12-2015 and on LG website they say I have a 1 year warranty. Any idea how I can make the phone not show "can't check for corruption"?

I've heard they don't really care too much if you unlock the bootloader. I would be more concerned about the 2 months after the year warranty thing.
Hopefully because they know about their motherboards being proned to bootloops, they'll fix it for you regardless.
I bought a bootlooping V10 a couple week ago for around $100 w/ no original proof of purchase. Still decided to take a chance and send it in. Got my repaired phone back from them within a week.

Do you mind me asking what you uploaded for the proof of purchase? They require something to be uploaded for that field on the repair request website. Thank you!
The freezing or heating is not nonsense. I saw it on a YouTube video and tried it myself. I put my phone in a Ziploc bag and squeezed all the air out to minimize any moisture damage, and froze it for six hours. It was able to boot up and stay on for three hours so I was able to transfer all of my data and files to my micro SD card. I have read that LG will honor the warranty beyond the stated length of time for this issue but your mileage may vary. What I am wondering is if anyone can expect any kind of compensation from LG? I have had two of my phones go through the boot loop issue, and currently all LG is saying is that if I have anything wrong with my 3rd phone, they will fix it. I find that unacceptable due to the time and aggravation spent dealing with a known product defect.

I'm almost positive I didn't submit any proof of purchase with my claim.
... yeah, I just checked, it is not a required field.
Obviously YMMV and I could have just gotten lucky, though I doubt it and I imagine this to be more of a under the table recall.
