Dell no longer sells these tablets with Android pre-installed, but there is abundance of Windows 10 units. Is it possible to dumb/copy the Android stock rom and install it in place of Windows 10?
Weird, I want to do the exact opposite, we should trade our tablets

Just trying to get some random info on this. I am going to create a user name on archosfan.com. as well. But this is my home for all my roms, and mods, apps. Wanted to try here first with the best team.
Thank YOU!!!
Is it the 7 Home Tablet (says right on the front of the device)? If so, you are in the "wrong" forum. This is actually for the Generation 8 Internet Tablet series.
That said, here are the pages for the 7 Home Tablet:
http://www.archos.com/products/ta/archos_7/index.html?country=us&lang=en
And the 8 Home Tablet:
http://www.archos.com/products/ta/archos_8/index.html?country=us&lang=en
Major differences, the 8 is a 4:3 format screen (800x600) and the 7 is a 16:9 format screen (800x480).
It is said the 7 Home Tablet may get Android 2.1, but it is currently 1.6, several versions behind the current 2.2 (Froyo) or 2.3 (Gingerbread). I do not think it will be capable of going past 2.1 unless it is the rumored 7 Home Tablet, rev 2.
I am thinking about getting the viepad 10 with the intel Atom processor and was wondering if any existing viewpad 10 owners/users have tried dual booting this instead of android. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UNR it is designed for netbooks, so in theory it should work just fine given there are drivers for the hardware. if this would work even with a little tweaking to get all the hardware working, it would be an exceptional tablet IMO, and an excellent substitute for honeycomb. (until it gets ported or released for the tablet)
I would post this in the viewpad 10 section but... there isn't one (yet)
Sorry to bump this topic but I have an answer to your problem. You can get the last version of Ubuntu Netbook Remix working by using this guide:
http://www.ollie-reardon.co.uk/ubuntu-10-10-viewpad-10/
To find what other Linux Distributions work on the Viewpad 10 here is a small list (But it's growing fast!!):

Hope that helps!

Not sure about compatibility with Viewpad 10, but it might provide another option for a starting point.
The Viewpad 10 has got an Intel Atom inside so really it's just a matter of USB booting a Linux Distribution like Ubuntu 11.04.
Is this true??
Windows 8 arm on g tablet?
Maybe, maybe not. Way too early to speculate on an OS that is not even at ReleaseCandidate yet.
For perspective:
1. We are still awaiting a new OTA update
2. Honeycomb is still in question
It's true that Microsoft is working on Windows 8 to have it running on the ARM based systems.
There is however no information that Windows 8 would ever run on the Gtablet (memory, storage, additional required hardware, system design, etc....could all be issues).

IE10 in Windows 8 (ARM), running on a Tegra 2 processor.
Hope to see this happen in the future. Would love to have Windows o/s on my tablet.
Speaking of Windows running on an Android tablet, I had a cheapy ZT-180 tablet that could boot into WinCe & the specs of this tablet were no where near the G-Tabs. Has anyone tried installing that on a G-Tab?
Hello,
I have been looking for a new Android Tablet and discovered the Dell Venue 10 5000. I am unable to find any reviews for this tablet. I would like to know how it performs with the Intel CPU. For the price the tablet fits everything I am looking for.
Curious to know if this OS can be have a future with this tablet. Dell windows models are having partial success with the installation of the Remix OS. I know the Windows tablets have UEFI but still curious as how the internals are similar.
Any thoughts guys?
I love this tablet but it gets so laggy at times where it randomly reboots.
