Just picked up my Wind Mobile LG G5-Titan. Given Wind is no-contract, I'm assuming it's unlocked. So, the question is, like the H850, would the device be rootable, and if not, are there any plans for LG to release a bootloader unlock?
I am in the position where I can return the device, and do not want to open it unless I can root.
Me too
I really want a root for this phone but I can't find anything saying one will come out for my Canadian phone which is also wind

No root is available for the Canadian G5 at the moment, and there are no plans for LG to provide a method to unlock the bootloader.
Root might be available in the future but there are no guarantees
The T-Mobile H830 has a root and I would assume that by the model designation the firmware is pretty close to our phones. Someone should try the tot root method for T-Mobile on our phones lol.

if anyone tries that they will brick. H830 is not an H831.
We are the ugly stepsister of the Smartphone world
Canadian models are not on anyone's top ten list- so don't hold your breath. Our main hope is that somebody finds a more universal method of "breaking" the ties that bind. Sometimes we get lucky - mostly we are an after thought in this world as the other more widely used models have a greater priority.

i'm going to go out on a limb here and say its the same phone as the metro pcs(ms330), and tmobile version, we just today got a recovery that can actually be booted from the hardware buttons, so at the moment no, there are 3 or so people that said they were going to port cm 13 and one of them bricked his phone(before twrp could be reached without adb) so there might be luck in the future just not now.

It's almost guaranteed we will get a stock B27 recovery image. I do not see them dumping MiFavor, not even with N.
Question is what kind of recovery method will they use (DFU/EDL flasher or just full zip) and can we generated custom "MiFavor" from them

Hopefully it's stock images so I can finally root my phone free of worry.

as long as they don't make you sign away our warranty for the bootloader unlock and stock image use, else I'll have to do it the old way and keep my warranty under US law.
Nothing for EU still. Looks like EU won't get an official unlock...
Sadly this has nothing to do with the EU model whatsoever.
Very sad to see the EU model just 'ignored' and forgotten in terms of bootloader unlock and updates.

I'm guessing since they say that's in final testing and next update is almost ready to roll out, I'd more guess it will be with whatever that build is. But it will definitely just be a stock image, not AOSP.

The EU model has had just as many updates as the US one at this point. US got B18->B20->B27. EU has gotten B02->B03->B05.
Bootloader is slightly different, but the US model currently doesn't have support for that either, as they pulled it to rework it.
Where the US is definitely better is in communication from the respective ZTE branch.

Very sorry for not replying in many months. I forgot I even had this post. Yes, I am very much satisfied with the performance in Android 7.0. It's much better than Android 6.0. Sadly, I discovered that this phone doesn't have a recovery and flashing firmware on it is near impossible. Maybe a thourough Google search could find the answer to your problem. You could try the LG Bridge program on your computer to find and install the update.

Even I didn't get any notification for update at first. Since updating the phone manually is not an option (it doesn't have recovery), the only thing you can try is downloading the LG Bridge App from LG's website for Windows, plug in your phone into your windows computer and choose the software update option on the LG Bridge program. Then keep your phone plugged in and let it update if an update is found by the Windows LG Bridge app.
thanks for replay @SirGarmaples
I mean "manually" refer to Flash phone with official .KDZ file...
my Internet connection was very very very slow (40-60 Kbps) cant use LG Bridge... Unless I get KDZ file to software (LG Bridge) in some way
is this doable (import .KDZ file manually to LG Bridge)? any one of XDA-Developer users worked on it?

Even for .kdz file, you'll need to download that too. I don't see the benefit of not using LG Bridge tool for updating. Both ways, you'll need to download the file so there's no point. I do not know of any way of flashing .kdz file onto this phone. There's literally no support for our phone on XDA. You can update your phone using other faster wifi or connection or leave the computer to do the thing overnight. Hey guys, I'm coming from a Xperia Z5 Premium here, and my question is will I be able to flash a unbranded firmware onto the Verizon LG V30 (VS996).
With my Z5P, I would use Xperifirm & SP Flashtool to flash different firmwares, does LG KDZ's work the same?, I'm not too experienced so sorry if this is a noob question.
Also I know the obvious solution would be to buy the unlocked version of the V30, but I won't be doing that, any help/answers are appreciated, thanks. :good:

No, as LG has added signature checks for all variant firmware for V30. You can't crossflash LG firmware to other variants anymore, like you could with the V20.

Yeah, the situation has definitely changed in the past few days. Back in March we thought we couldn't cross flash between variants. Turns out that's NOT TRUE, especially if you use the patch LGUP.
Recently we knew it was possible to flash TO VS996 from LG US998 but now we found out there's a simple bootloader unlock bug in Oreo.

Hi Matt, how's it going ? Is this still true for VS996, can't cross flash to US998 yet ?

Please, I wish people wouldn't dig you old threads. You are going to risk wrong answers compared to recent threads. Look at WTF thread or especially Frankenstein thread. Those emphasize CROSSFLASHING North American variants and give the instructions! < WHICH I WROTE
We can't lock every thread. Just let die and stay buried, please. Well, at least you read my LAST answer where I said the situation had "recently" changed. That was 7 or 8 months ago -- so not recent any more.
this is the firmware Sprint is testing: G930PVPS7CRH1
Sprint Users rejoice, seems samsung is testing a new firmware for the unlocked S7 and will be a bootloader version 8

I wonder why? They have already won the bootloader version race by a landslide.

I know, and i have no idea why they are doing this.
my phone updated to it today
the ver my phone has isG930PVPU7CRG3 sprint
Sprint must really not want their phones be unbranded or flashed to another carrier.

i use this link to check what firmware samsung is testing, see here
for sprint, use this one
this also means that, once this update is released, at least for the unlocked S7, we won't be able to downgrade to marshmallow or nougat . I assume samsung is doing this so remaining s7 users are forced to stay on oreo forever

I'm sure this is just coincidence, but I've been trying to get a Sprint S7 working properly on T-mobile's network and was communicating with both T-mobile and Samsung support all last week, advocating for both of them to increase their bootloader version. In particular, I think it makes sense for the 930U to always match or exceed the highest carrier version. I'm not sure if there's any substantive difference among bootloader versions, but that way users would always have the freedom to switch carriers. (The 930P often fails to make calls on T-mobile's network, since it doesn't support VoLTE).
This should probably drop around mid-November based on past updates and codes.
I have bootloader version 7 I think if it goes by the 5th number. I keep getting fuse errors when I try to flash this phone and I've never flashed anything before.

Sounds like you are trying to flash a firmware that isn't b7. This would result in the fuse error.

Ahh OKay I figured mine was 7 because I'm on Oreo and my PDA: G930PVPS7CRH2. IM on the sprint variation and I'm just stuck at this point. I rooted my moto 4 plus the first day I tried which is a snapdragon as well. This Odin things tricky though. I guess I can't get the new xposed either then unless it's possible to install without flashing. I really would appreciate anyones help thanks ?

I'm not sure about xposed, but if you're stuck with your phone in a non-functional state after trying to install a lower bootloader firmware, you can always re-flash the latest stock sprint firmware.
