In the last few days my XDA has been Hard Resetting while working in an application. Then when reconfiguring and performing a soft reset it actually performs a Hard Reset. Also occasionally after eventually managing to restore the config, the screen has shifted upwards by 7 pixels so the top of the telephone icon cannot be seen.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem; internal component failure, dodgy internal battery.
This product is under warranty and will probably have to return to the service centre unless a solution can be found
sw config: ROM 3.02.00 ENG, Radio 4.01,Protocol 324e2
Thanks,

Has anyone else experienced this ????
I have an O2 XDA II with 1.72 , 1.14, and for no apparent reason it just decides to turn itself off, needing me to remove the battery. Instead of starting normally, it hard resets itself :/
Any advice welcomed
Just had that happen twice. It didn't turn off though; it locked up hard. The soft reset button would leave it on a black screen. Once I removed and replaced the battery, it was hard reset. Both times it happened on airplanes, maybe it's allergic to them...
What softwares do you install to your XDA2??
if u installed Pocketplus, remove it...
it caused your XDA to be death...
No Pocket Plus in my case, don't like it. I have several programs that provide the same functions, but had not caused a problem in the past.
Do you have a link to some evidence of the Pocket Plus problem?
Hello,
I've got the same problem with a new one. Just sent it back for exchange.
The only software it might have caused problems is iStatus, which worked properly on my old xdaI before.
So however if you've installed this software as well this could be a solution ...
ciao
Hachtl
xda2 hard reset
Had the same prob. too, fixed it by getting rid ofpocket skype.
i seemed to have cured the problem. although i'm not sure which cured it.
The XDA seemed to start hard reseting around the time I :
a) bought a spare battery from PDAMAODS (1400mAh). Am now using the original again
b) upgraded the roms from
1.66WWE (now 1.72.00)
1.10 (now 1.17)
can't remember (now 1.72.126)
c) adjusting the power settings to turn the device off after <5 mins for both battery and external power
I now have have the power setting set to constantly on, have put in the original battery and cleared the ext rom of ALL programs, and it now works fine, although battery life is now crap, as to be expected.
Hope this helps ppl with similar problems :/
Only time that my MDA-II has to hard reset is when I set Bluetooth function on. Maybe there is a bug in Bluetooth
Hi All,
Yesterday my SGS2 stared doing some strange things. Self restarting, connecting to charger without any cable in it! Switch on from a sleep, then self restart...
I did hard reset tonight, and today about few hours its the same....
Of course that I have installed many of applications as before this problem. But I dont know if it is a problem of some application....
Any idea how to fix it?
Many thanks
Can it be caused by battery?? I have this phone almost 6 months...
Are you on 2.3.6?
If not, flash 2.3.6 or another rom just try it
i think your battery is not the problem
no, I have stock rom KI4 2.3.5 ... till now was everything OK
I found now an app (need for speed hot pursuit) which was moved on sd card (I don't know why, I didn't move any apps on sd card), just its deleted... we'll see
second factory reset, without any new applications installed = the same.... spontaneous restarting.....

I am not sure .. I think Power key will be the problem
Do diagnose pls do below steps
1, Just power off the phone & remove the battery for 2 mins
2, then plug the battery & don't power on
3, Wait for 5 mins, if it automatically powered on then power key problem.
If not then something problem in only ROM.
formated SD Card, I saw that there was also some files created by Android system... Now it seems, that 1,5 hour is everything OK But never say never
I Know this is a month old but was wondering if everything is still ok with the random restarting?
The reason I am asking is that it has been happening to my SGS2 though I believe it may be slight, v.slight water damage; as I was walking in a rain shower at the start of the week and realised my phone USB port was partially exposed to the elements, and after a few days it started to exhibit the same symptoms.
Currently the phone is sitting in a bag of rice in the hot-press to try and extract as much moisture from it.
If anyone else has any experience of similar problems, your help is appreciated.
Thanks
Same **** happened to me when I dropped my s2 in snow. The problem is in USB controller. There are two ways. first is to change USB controller in service centre. The second is to try to clean it yourself with isopropanol and brush

Took the phone out of the Hot-Press and bag of rice earlier to day and it has know been successfully fully charged (not charging was another problem); will continue to monitor the situation (not difficult since half of my life is on the phone...).
@beeboss: Thanks for reply, was wondering what kind of brush, Toothbrush? soft/hard? I expect that cleaning it yourself is a v.delicate job, it wouldn't put me of doing it, it's just better to have the correct equipment as I've came across corrosion of circuits on a bigger scale and I cant see scraping it with a v.fine scalpel to be a good thing in the case of the phone; Though I did not have isopropanol at the time of the big circuit corrosion...
Thanks for the help
Hi
My SGS2 is misbehaving badly. These symptoms occur simultaneously several times a day. I do not know what triggers them or how to prevent them. Your help would be greatly appreciated:
1. Screen goes black.
2. Device becomes unresponsive. The only thing I can do is press the power button for ~10 seconds to reboot.
3. The phone becomes very warm to the touch.
4. The battery drains at an incredible speed.
Might be helpful to know:
Device is rooted, naturally.
Once I've rebooted the phone and I go to Settings > Battery the graph there is showing a black gap followed by a drastic drop in battery level. (See attached diagram and screenshot)
I've noticed that this never happens when the device is plugged in to the charger.
I've recently upgraded to Android 4.1.2 (baseband ver I9100XXLS8) which is the official Samsung ROM after previously running on the Samsung beta version of the same ROM.
Thanks in advance!

Either the battery is faulty or this is some hardware failure. Check if this persists if another battery is inserted.
Also - did the phone get wet recently?

Thanks, that makes some sense

Thank you for the quick response. What you're saying makes some sense to me as I've experienced something odd with the battery a couple of weeks ago. I.e. the battery went completely dead and would not charge, then recovered after a day or two. It did not, however, get wet AFAIK
Might I ask - In buying a new battery, should I insist on an original Samsung make or are non-branded alternatives safe to use?
Kind Regards,
urig

Always go genuine.
Anyways you might wanna nuke that device with nuke script.

EDIT: you got the media scanner thing going on.

Hello friends. The problem is that, i9100 turns off by itself and immediately falls battery.
I can not find the answer, all threads readed and tried everything.
Tried all official ROMs and wipes. Bought new official samsung battery. Sim On/Egect - no difference. No FlashCard.
Thanks for helping!
Firstly, i can see that you are loosing signal. Put it on 2g mode
Now you need to find out the app which is causing the issue. Install wake lock detector and see what is keep your cpu engaged.
Also, i would advise to dekete the unwanted app data from the internal and external memory.

This two screenshot are: first with sim, second without sim. I havn't installed any apps, only that's going with ROM. Checked CPU and battery usage with programs, nothing wrong....(
I've the same problem since i bought the phone. In my case sometimes it wouldn't even charge and then goes back to work fine.
If you like to see if the problem is exactly the same here is my post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46218090#post46218090 and no solution has been found so far.
This is a classic battery failure. Get another battery and it's solved.

thanks, but I bught new battary, same thing...(
I've tried everything, i think it is power chip. Try to buy and re-solder it? Price $10. I will soldering for the first time, so I wanted to rule out other damage.
I Noticed that the phone is not turns off ever while charging. Sorry for the repeat, but how to diagnose hardware failure? Service center samsung do not take the phone for repair, they say that if not approved in this country, the repair will not even for money. If diagnose chip power failure, I can order it and rewire itself. Thanks.
