I'm getting desperate! I tried to install jellybean on my Dell Streak 7 using the ROM Manager method described elsewhere on the site. At first, I could not get the zip file to work. I tried both of giveen's files, the last was Android422_Dell_Streak7_Windows.zip. Now ROM Manager is stuck in recovery mode and my laptop does not recognize my tablet. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey everybody
LETS WORK TOGETHER TO CREATE THE FIRST CUSTOM ROM FOR THE DELL VENUE We need a good rooting software and a decrypted UPDATE.pkg. Everybody knows that the Dell Venue uses FASTBOOT like the Dell Streak so the procedures should be the same.
Good rooting software: SuperOneClickv1.5.4-ShortFuse
Dell hasnt released update.pkg for Venue. If someone knows how to pull the file from the phone then we can make custom rom.
Also, Venue doesn't have the fastboot mode like the one in Streak.
Sent from my Dell Venue using XDA App
Yes the Venue uses fastboot
fastboot
fastboot enter...
Venue's power supply on when holding the Volume down key.
Enter Fastboot
I found out you can get to the fastboot menu by:
Holding both up & down volume while turning on the phone.
Release power like normal while continuing to hold both volume buttons until you reach fastboot.
Now all we need is a custom rom to install via update.zip...
And also, u can hold the down volume while connecting the phone to usb charger. You'll see a custom recovery from Dell with a LOT OF OPTIONS like earase partitions, battery settings and other that i can remember
I will post some pictures soon
can someone help to create the custom rom of dell venue?
custom rom and kernel please
a custom rom and a custom kernel would be awesome. Dell's official 2.2 rom is too stinkin slow. For a phone with this kind of specs, it is way slower than similar spec'd phones
I tried to get the source code from Dell.
In Venue-HOW-TO-BUILD.txt, it's showing that part of venue are built from android donut. And I can't find "source tree of android froyo from Qualcomm"

Nope, left gingerbreak running for 30 min. just sits and spins.. nothing doing on 2.2.2 dell rom. I am talking about 2.2.2 on Dell venue (not Streak, gingerbreak works fine on Streak).
worked on my venue, glad to get rid bloatware
Sent from my SPH-P100 using XDA App
Superoneclick 1.54 worked like a charm, much easier to root the Venue than the Streak 5, IMO. (AT&T)
Now I just need Gingerbread on the phone and ill be even happier. Love the device tho, I have been very impressed with Dell running Android, much more than I have been with HTC.
Wish my Streak 5 extended battery worked on the Venue, that upset me. I have this $50 Dell rebate card that came with the Venue, I dont know what to get.
Unlocking and Rooting Dell Venue 7, 8, and 10
Dell has released instructions and files to unlock bootloader and root the device. I have linked the parent directory, you will also need "Intel Flash Tools Lite" (it says OS required in Ubuntu but you can find the Windows version online as well - I use Win10 and it worked fine). Follow the instructions in the .pdf provided from Dell and when it says to run the commands in the Ubuntu terminal just use elevated command prompt in windows, the adb commands are the same.
**IMPORTANT - Device has to be FULLY charged or Flash Tools will show it as not detected during flash. You have to follow step 1 and 2 of the process flashing the opensource firmware then use adb to sideload the OSS .zip. Obviously ONLY download from official links I have provided below. The first one is an official linked from Intel on this page: (I am new so it won't let me link, but just add https: in front of links)
//software.intel.com/en-us/installing-firmware-with-flash-tool-windows
//01.org/android-ia/downloads/intel-platform-flash-tool-lite
//opensource.dell.com/releases/
still waiting for custom rom on dell venue 8 :/
can anyone help me
I tried all possible ways to enable Dell streak and failed
How can I make update to work
I'm from Europe
I have similar problem with my newly arrived Streak 5. The screen stuck at the dell logo when trying to boot after applied superboot. I am able to enter fastboot mode however. I followed the instruction from this link to root my streak:
wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Dell_Streak:_Full_Update_Guide
Any help is appreciated!!
I give up. I tried everything and nothing more I can do. at least I'll have a nice coaster
did you guys tried the QDL tool (repairtool) on streakdroid.com?
anyway, I am in need for some parts (display mostly) for the Dell streak. If you want to sell your "coaster" PM-me. (I am too from Europe)
Hello, thank you if you are trying to help me.
What did I do?
I started to with Dell Streak running Android 2.2, wanted to upgrade to StreakDroid GingerStreak 2.4.4.
So I downloaded the files referred to in the linked guide in the section
YOU MUST FLASH THE BELOW BASEBAND AND DSP1 IMAGES TO ALLOW THIS BUILD TO WORK CORRECTLY!!

I installed device drivers and booted into fastboot, everything worked well.
Then I used the commands listed to flash amss.mbn ja dsp1.mbn
fastboot -i 0x413c flash amss amss.mbn
fastboot -i 0x413c flash dsp1 dsp1.mbn
fastboot -i 0x413c reboot

Everything seemed okay, device started to reboot... but it never booted.
Current situation:
Device boots sometimes (not every time) until Dell logo and freezes. I am unable to boot into fastboot or recovery mode.
When connected to PC it shows up as qualcomm device and then installs drivers and lists as USB HID device.
I can use W7 64bit and Vista 32bit to troubleshoot the problem.
Thank you if you managed to read it all through and if you have any suggestions, I am all ears. Do not want to make things worse by doing wrong moves.
If you need any extra info just ask, I might have forgotten something useful.
maatriks.
I also have this same problem on my other streak. I tried going back to stock att 2.2 though from streak droid 1.6 I think. Which ever one is 2.2.2. Flashed recovery and I never changed basband so it was stock still. Stuck at dell logo. Cant get into safe mode to use qdl tool
Sent from my Dell Streak using xda premium
any luck?

I cannot remember exactly what was said for gingerstreak but I do remember there being some quite specific instructions about the first flash and boot of the rom.
I would suggest reading the whole post and then trying to flash again.
I can remember having the same problem as you when I first flashed this rom but I managed to resolve it by reading the post thoroughly.
If I can find the stand out instructions in the thread I will post them but if you still want the rom have another good read and all should fall into place.
Sorry for not posting solution a year ago. I managed to unbrick my device using this guide: www . calazan . com/how-to-upgrade-your-att-locked-dell-streak-baseband-gausb1a111231-build-6601-to-android-2-2-froyo/
Just make sure you are on 32bit operating system. I personally did it on 32bit Vista. As I did it a year ago I cannot remember the exact details but thought it might help someone googling for bricked dell streak in the future.
Had to put spaces in link because xda does not allow posting links with so few posts.

Hello,
I'm trying to fix a mistake I made messing around with this tablet. its a Zeki TB782B FID:CF. I'm stuck on the boot animation. It will not boot completely
I was trying to play with the LCD density a little because everything looked crappy on this low end tab. Its stock number was 140, I changed it to 160 with no problem. I tried 180 and it didn't like it at all. I've tried to use this LiveSuit tool to flash but it will not recognized that there is a device connected. The usb drivers and everything are installed correctly. I tried it on 3 machines with the same result. I even found a 1.11 version but to no avail. I need help. I'm done messing with the settings in this tab. I'll get me a better one later one if I want to start customizing something. I just want to get this one working again so I can use it and then maybe my son can use it after I get another.
Flash zeki thread.

I can't get into recovery. plus this device comes rooted. This is nothing like any android device I've owned in the past. Following the instructions in the link I get it into what they say is recovery mode but there is no interface. just a dark screen.
Bump?
I've actually found the problem. I tried this on several machines but wasn't sucessful. all running win7. I tried my laptop no go and then tried my work desktop and it works. I read a comment that laptops address usb port horribly and that desktops work much better
Hello Folks,
Ive got a Dell Venue 8 7840 which is kinda bricked. I can enter the Recovery mode on the Device and the Intel Phone Flash-tool wont recognize the tablet.
I tried to follow this Guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/dell-venue/general/how-to-unbrick-dell-venue-8-7840-t3323249 , since the flash-tool wont recognize the tablet i am kinda screwed.
I installed the Intel USB Driver for the tool and i have the files from the guide.
This is the error i get: https://imgur.com/a/n5T3HKi
So atm i might need someone who can help me. im new to this stuff and have no clue how to fix these problems.
Thank you for any help you can offer.
