Looks like you have to activate the phone on 5/13/16 or later. So those who already have their phones cannot partake

yes its only for new users.

Is there a link to the promotion?

Very interesting. Can anyone confirm this is still working? Just got a S7 when my work switched to sprint. How does the credit come, specific gift cards for certain places or one of those visa/amex that can work anywhere, or just credit to your account?
I had a note 3a couple years back, but I don't think I ever did Samsung pay due to being rooted.

ATT - Get on contract or buy it outright.

So I know many of you all will be getting it on ATT and may be thinking the same thing. Just wanting to see what you all thought about the pros and cons of buying on contract vs off.
Here is how the pricing is
Status of contract. Price 1year 2 year
On $200 $320 $440
Off $300 $420 $540
thanks in advance.

My plan is to buy off Cotract 325.49 out the door I paid the same amount for my Gear 2 back in April. I will sell my Gear 2 on Swappa/Craigslist to get some money back. If you buy on contract you can pay it off at anytime but you will still owe the 10$ a month for the 2 years. Supposedly you can get it unlocked after 60 days on AT&T. I will not be using the SIM I have Sprint. I will treat this watch as an enhanced Gear 2
Buy outright. You might find that the SIM capability isn't useful to you at all and you hardly use it, you can cancel the $10 a month.
Also, if you buy on contract you have to pay $40 activation fee. Off contract, you don't pay that.
Well then.. look like im going off contract then. Glad you brought that up. It only 60 more to buy off contract might as well do that. I may be able to get then to take off the activation fee though.
the main question is if you want to receive calls and sms messages on your watch while your phone is not with you. if you don't then off contract, if you do then on contract
Wll that the main reason why I want to get this watch. I have my phone on me must about all the time but there are times where I wish I could leave it at home. Thats where the gear s will work well for me. If i can just pay off the contract price and get no activation free i may still get it on contract.

I saw on the website that the activation fee would be waived for cashing out on the watch. If you decide this route check it out . I just cashed out off contract AT&T I have Sprint I will figure out sim card company later

You have to be really careful on eBay with mobile phones. So many of them are blacklisted, blocked or are about to be. You have to make sure they can prove it was paid off. S3s have been around long enough as well as some S4s so your chances of getting a blocked phone are not as great but there are very few S5s that are not under contract of some sort. There are a couple of sites where you can check the IMEI for free, but that only shows what the state is today, and does not protect you from them reporting it lost or stolen after you buy it and have it for a couple of months.

I'm not that afraid of blocked phones. I'm planning on unlocking and using on att anyways. I'm just buying the tmobile version for the bootloader. The one I bought is straight up fake. They had a tmobile imei flashed to it.

AT&T and T-Mobile share phone blacklist data so depending on why it was blacklisted you can get it unlocked but that doesn't mean it will work on AT&Ts network. In my experience in dealing with used phones, if it's blacklisted for account or payment reasons then it will normally work on AT&T's network. But if it's reported lost or stolen and blacklisted for that reason, it normally won't work on AT&T's network.
I have a G900T I'm using on AT&T with no issues, but I've repaired and resold many blacklisted phones and have run into the issues I described earlier many times so I hijacked your thread to try and give a cautionary tale to others to help them avoid these headaches. I know how to deal with it but most ordinary Joes don't. I've seen the fake S5s and S4s and that's an issue too, but whether it's fake or not, if it doesn't work that sucks.
Sorry you ran into this issue and for hijacking your thread.

Swappa just makes sellers say their devices are whatever before listing. They don't have any real means to do quality check either. No real difference

This is true. I have had a TMo S5 that got blacklisted after 2 days of me buying it. I had to just sell it off underpriced. Sigh.
From what I heard from multiple AT&T reps, and got done on the one I got (another TMo S5 from another person), was to take him to TMo store first to verify the account is on his name and that the phone has been paid for. And then go with him to AT&T store to register the IMEI on my name. Once AT&T registers the IMEI on a person's account in person with both parties present, black listing won't apply to that number any more.

But swappa does require the esn to be checked which weeds out stolen, being financed (which is still consider stolen since Tmo still owns it til paid off), cloned esn/imei which will catch you a felony if in possession of and fake devices.

That's not true. Swappa makes sellers refund you fully if the phone stops working due to an imei issue. On eBay, if I state the device turns on and appears to function as normal but could have a blocked imei. And eBay won't make me refund the buyer due to an accurate description.

I haven't sold on swappa. How do they make you refund ? They somehow can withdraw money from your PayPal after you get the money ?

Plus, I don't think the powers to be here at XDA would promote a service like Swappa without doing some do diligance. Plus I've bought and sold on Swappa, and have good results each time.

I see. I don't try to be a pain but just for the sake of discussion, from what I read it's still vague in how they are able to promise people refunds. Just curious if they will just pay for it or somehow make the seller refund obviously without access to their PayPal. Like on ebay, if you don't get what the listing is, eBay will cover you first and go for the seller themselves
Bought my first device on swappa. From what I read on swappas FAQ, if something goes south they just have you use PayPal dispute resolution ... not great, all the refund they can promise you is the 10 bucks fee which is of course nothing

That's strange cause I had bought a phone that was reported incomplete payment and they wanted me to dispute it with them before going to PayPal. I guess it all depends on the situation.

Yeah that's what's stated on their official FAQ. After hearing so many positive things about swappa, of course I made a purchase on a seller that doesn't have much past selling history, something I would never do on ebay. Now seller doesn't reply at all, even after the staff left two messages. I guess we'll see what happens. Yes swappa just tells you to dispute with them, them being the seller, if they just don't say anything, you can't do anything about it. I feel swappa is great for sellers because you get immediate payment but not great for buyers. Of course sellers get their money FIRST lol, why would they even care about you. A couple hundred dollars phone scam is so easy you just need a unverified PayPal account, which is just an email, when someone buys you get the money right away. You don't verify your PayPal to transfer funds instead you just use the unverified PayPal to pay for online purchases. And they refund they handle is the 10 bucks lol, PayPal does the rest( what's said in this post is what I understand of swappa and currently what's going on with me. By no means it is 100% correct, feel free to comment). I'll probably sell on swappa and buy on eBay from now on

I have the V20 and it still technically has $476 on the device payments, but I get a $28/month credit on my account which will pay off the device in the next year and a half. I contacted Verizon directly and asked If I can give the phone to a friend or sell it when I buy the Note 8 and they said Yes as long as the phone keeps getting paid for with the $28/month credit.

Going to be an iPhone 5 or s5 for about $75 and do this. Does it matter if the phone is actually on Verizon or not? Or just a working phone?
Thanks for sharing! I noticed the unlocked version is less expensive than carrier specific. I've never gone the route of unlocked - does anyone know of advantages/ disadvantages of going this route? I'm assuming the updates would come from Samsung rather than carrier but, again, unlocked is foreign to me. Thanks, in advance!

Unlocked meaning you can pop any sim in and it'll work - no carrier bloatware - only samsung's P). No commitments, no contracts.

Do you straight out them these payments or are you getting a monthly credit from Verizon that will pay off your device like I am? I came over from Sprint back in February when they revealed the unlimited plans and it was a promotion where I traded in my Galaxy S7 Edge and I got the LG v20 for free with a monthly $28 credit that will eventually pay off the phone. Yes I did multiple chats online and in my case, I can swap out my line with the Note 8 and still get the account credits. I even asked if I could "lend my phone to a friend" and they could use the V20 on their account (I'll be sending it to Samsung to fulfill the $425 off obviously) and he said yes that's not a problem because the installment plans don't put locks on the phones. Here's some text of a chat I had earlier.
Verizon
To give you a reference that your device payment credit will continue please keep this agreement number: XXXXXXXXX. This agreement is based on the active line where you device was linked to. Now, just as long as the line is active, regardless you'll use a different device and just as long you will not pay off the DPA (device payment agreement), the credit will continue.
You
Thank you! I have a few more questions.
Verizon
Yes, what questions do you still have while you have me?
You
Can I lend the LG V20 to a friend of mine, since I will no longer be using it?
You
And he can use it on his account?
Verizon
Yes absolutely he can use it on his own account. As long as the device payment will be fulfilled in 24 months, there will be no problem.
Verizon
Yes you are correct

I wonder how I could dispute an issue with Samsung financing...I wanted the 0% instead of my 10% credit card. I don't think they will have issues unless the trade in is in poor condition.
btw, there are folks buying note 7's for 300-400 on craigslist. apparently, samsung is quietly buying them back. i'm meeting a guy in a place with cameras tomorrow to sell mine for 380.
i kept mine - i said bugger off to all those stupid letters and boxes.
and for all those folks who told me i was wrong for ignoring the harassing letters from verizon/samsung: pffft!
i have been using it as a really cool wifi tablet and now it's become my personal trade-in program for the note 8 i just pre-ordered from best buy.

I got the deal you wanted, let me give you some advice.
It's about three things. One, don't use chat. Chat is impersonal and doesn't allow you to convey appropriate tone. Two, don't get rude or verbally aggressive. Three, you need a strong account. By that I mean like I have been toting a 250-350 monthly bill with Verizon for over 8 years with a good payment history as well.
After a good hour on the phone, and being told multiple times that I would have to pay off the 500 bucks still owed on the S7Edge I never wanted... and politely explaining that I needed someone to speak to that can work outside the usual box of rules they work within.... I finally got transferred to a supervisor who looked at the account, and said okay, I can make this right. He forced the contract as paid in full which pushed that 500 bucks onto my bill, then immediately went in and issued a credit for the same amount. This made my S7Edge paid for in full so I could not only upgrade early but get the same promotion as every Joe off the street that never went through 5 phones during the Note 7 fiasco. So I got it half price still like everyone else. It will be here tomorrow.
That was the kicker I think. I simply explained that if they had A. returned my old paid for Nexus 6 to me (which they said they couldn't do) or if I had the Note 7 still (which had the annual upgrade available), they would have exchanged it for a Note 8 right away no questions asked. So I simply said, I just wanted them to honor the annual upgrade I was entitled to beginning August 2016 when I agreed to purchase the preordered Note 7. They didn't have to pay off the 500 bucks on the S7Edge. But I promise you my approach combined with my logic and my account strength made it happen.
They even added 12gb to our data plan. The supervisor also personally called me the next day to confirm the transaction went smoothly and to be sure I was happy. I have never received that level of customer service from any company. It was truly refreshing.

They offered me the same deal initially, to pay half the remaining balance on my S7Edge. I said no thank you and called back and started over again with someone else who sent me to a supervisor who paid off my phone in full, all 500 bucks... .

btw, there are folks buying note 7's for 300-400 on craigslist. apparently, samsung is quietly buying them back. i'm meeting a guy in a place with cameras tomorrow to sell mine for 380.
i kept mine - i said bugger off to all those stupid letters and boxes.
and for all those folks who told me i was wrong for ignoring the harassing letters from verizon/samsung: pffft!
i have been using it as a really cool wifi tablet and now it's become my personal trade-in program for the note 8 i just pre-ordered from best buy.

Now that's a shame! I too ignored everybody and kept my Note 7, it takes a full charge thanks to software blocking the charging update that makes it a brick. Also, as predicted, T-Mobile was not able to cut us off if you were paying your bill, so I've had full service this whole time. I, however, won't be selling this to anyone, it's going back to Samsung for a full refund! There is no expiration date on that recall! That's $850.00+ and use of a free phone for a whole year! I'll use an iPhone 5 to get the Note 7 owners discount.

I got the deal you wanted, let me give you some advice.
It's about two things.
After this I waited until the next day an called. I told the nice young lady what the situation was and she put me on hold. She came back and told me that I would still have to pay off the phone. I told her that would not be financially feasible because I owed $586 on that phone and I pay $521 a month on my bill every month (Have Me. my mom, my son and my wife on my account plus a few other devices). I told her that if I would be required to do that then I would explore my options of going to another company and having them pay off all of my stuff and then I would only have to worry about getting the phone. She put me on hold again for about 7 minutes and when she came back she told me that they were going to pay off the remainder of my phone. Problem solved.

Note 20 Preorder Thread

Just preordered my Note 20 from Samsung. Didn't think orders started until tomorrow but I guess doing the little reserve thing for the event yesterday actually got my $50 more for trade in and a day ahead of other orders.
Says expected delivery is 8/21 but the email said these first orders where the first to arrive so hopefully it comes a bit sooner. I know Samsung ships early unlike Apple.
Curious, which model, Note 20 or Note 20 Ultra? Didn't see the live event, so it appears that there is no Plus version, correct?

There is no Plus. It's Note 20 and 20 Ultra this forum is for the Note 20.

Because I didn't want to spend a ton of money. Also I actually prefer the flat screen because when I'm holding it in 1 hand my palm doesn't throw it off. Screen res and refresh rate doesn't bother me as the lower ones will give better battery life and I prefer that over refresh rate.
Also I was trading in so I basically got this for $400 with tax and a bunch of free accessories so can't beat that.
Note 20 or the Note 20 Ultra
I can’t decide which one to get. I just bought a Sony ZV1 so I don’t really need it for the camera. But only having 128 Gb storage is not ideal. Does anyone think 128GB is not enough storage?
Thinking of getting the Note 20 Ultra, but the Samsung site shows a 36 month plan. Not sure i wanna get locked in that long. 2 years has been bad enough...

Anyone get do the Private Pre-order where you get an additional $50 credit (from pre-registering)? I can't tell if its on top of the $200 or brings it up to the $200 credit for the Note 20 Ultra.

It’s on trade in not the store credit. Like if you trade an S20 the $650 is really $600 with the $50 bonus.

I don't think that is correct. The email I got last night says:
"**18+ & 50 US/DC only. By 8/20/20 ("Purchase Period"), pre‑order and purchase a Samsung Galaxy N20 5G or N20 5G Ultra with Samsung Financing, Carrier specific financing (when available as a payment method) or outright purchase at full retail price ("Qualifying Purchase"), and receive a $150 Samsung Credit for with a N20 5G Purchase ($100 Gift for Pre‑order Promotion & Additional $50 for reservation gift), or a $200 Samsung Credit with a N20 5G Ultra Purchase ($150 Gift for Pre‑order Promotion & Additional $50 for reservation gift) ("Gift"). Reservation Gift applicable to customers that reserved the latest Galaxy in the reserve period from 7/22/2020 – 8/5/2020 and pre‑order and purchase the latest Samsung Galaxy device on an installment plan, 2-year contract plan, lease or outright purchase at full retail price ("Qualifying Purchase"). Samsung Credits are valid only at Samsung.com or in the App for use towards an eligible purchase including wearables, tablets, PCs and select accessories and valid through 11/27/20. Gifts subject to availability and are non-transferrable. Limit 1 Gift per Qualifying Purchase. Gifts only available while supplies last. When making a Qualifying Purchase on Samsung.com or the App, you must either (i) use the Gift at check-out or (ii) not use any of the Gift at check-out and receive Gift by email apprx 15 days after the delivery of your Qualifying Purchase; any value not used is lost. Additional restrictions apply. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. Offer subject to additional terms here. Samsung reserves the right to modify or discontinue offer at any time by posting notice on the app or website."
So its saying its giving you $50 credit.
Does the Note 20 work on the verizon 5g network, or is it like the s20 where you have to get the ultra to use the verizon 5g network?

Yeah, I definitely would need to finance. Looks like with my Note 9 trade in, going through Samsung.com would end up $25/mo for 3 years, going through Verizon would be $36/mo for 2 years. Either way cheaper than the $45/mo I've been paying on my Note 9 for the last 2 years (512gb version).

In case anyone else was ordering through Samsung and searching for the Access program... They're not opening it until after the phone is out (dumb, I know). But you have 30 days to add your phone to the program, so Samsung said once we get the phone to go to the Samsung Members/shop app (can't remember which) and change the plan to Access. That way you can upgrade in a year (or actually sooner!) and get your debt forgiven! Plus you're only paying the 36-month plan price (plus premium care at reduced cost), making it an EXCELLENT choice for annual upgraders like me. Saves money over traditional financing and allows for upgrades. I just wish they offered it with pre-orders so it wasn't so confusing. I had to chat with them for like an hour to get it figured out.

You get an upgrade to 512gb for $1,199 which is what the 256gb model will cost after pre-order is over. So your basically saving $180.00 there as the 512gb model will be $1379.00. So you are really saving $500 Tradein +$180 Upgrade +$150 Store Credit = $830 in savings by preordering.
Ordered from Samsung Canada:
1TB Phantom Black
-$860 trade-in
-$230 2 year warranty plan promo

During the past week there were several emails saying that we would be able to get the S23U for only $330 with a trade in. Even trading in a Z Fold 4 doesn’t provide a trade in price this low, what a disappointment!
Anyone else having a hell of a time ordering? They keep canceling my order. I have tried a Samsung Financing account and my Discover card. In both cases, the payment goes through, and then Samsung just cancels it. I've been back and forth with support for over an hour trying to troubleshoot the TD Bank issue and finally tried my Discover and they just canceled it again.
Never in my life have I had a company give me so many problems when trying to give them money. I've tried updating my Samsung profile with the same info as well. It doesn't make any sense that they're even canceling an order that Discover approved.
What a joke.
They said "oh try again in a few days" but I'm sure this 15% off on Rakuten won't be there so they basically just lost the sale entirely seeing how they won't take a Pixel 7 Pro for trade in either.

yeah I`m with GoogleFI and I preordered through there, 600.00 instant discount and free upgrade to 512gb storage for the same price as the 256gb just like what samsung doing on there webiste, all I have too do is keep it activate on GooglefF for 120 days, so it was $635.99 total for the 512gb green color.
I think I did pretty good with getting it through my carrier.
I am on T-Mobile and after trading in my Z Fold 3 (upgrading a line), getting the trade-in and promotion discounts, I financed the remaining balance on their 24 month E.I.P. with 0% interest at $15.04/mo. Total is $360.96 financed. I did have to pay the Sales Tax at the time or ordering which came out to $118.36.
Since I could not get the order through Samsungs website to work, I missed out on the $70 credit for accessories, but I bought the Ultra Unicorn Beetle Case for under $20, so no real complaints here.
Details:
Phone: S23 Ultra 512GB - Phantom Black - 1999.99
Trade Instant Credit: $161 (Z Fold 3 512GB)
Applied Credit: $839 ($35.96/mo applied to the $50/mo finance payment making payments $15.04/mo)
Sales Tax: $118.36 (paid at time of order)
Total Amount Financed: $360.96 (0% interest for 24 months)

I am thinking about that deal... I would have to open up a new prepaid eSIM to port to Fi but doesn't Fi have some rule about not using the phone anywhere else for the 120 days or you forfeit the discount? I don't know that I could have a new phone for 4 months that I wouldn't be able to use lol

Mine was $760 total after Trade in and paying $16 extra for the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro on top of the $150 store credit. After I sell the Buds 2 pro l'll only end up paying $660 total for the 512gb model which aint too bad. Don't need the buds cause I am deaf but it was best way to use the full $150 store credit.

I was trying tonight and I couldn't get any where with Samsung. I kept having issues at the trade in screen. Sometimes it would give me a $500 trade in or a $1000 trade in for my s22 ultra. Finally, I gave up and went to T-Mobile and also on there website I was running into issues when I got to the insurance, and I was only offered $500 trade in.
I finally called and I was able to complete the order.
I probably would not have upgraded so early, except for the fact I have had a lot of issues with my s22 ultra(4th phone). Im hoping the s23 does not have the same issue with the speaker and static noises.

You tie a PayPal account to Rakuten to get an automatic payout or they'll send you a physical check. It's quarterly I believe.
