For some apparent reason, there's no sound playing out of my device. I can't listen to music, I can't even talk on the phone because I cannot hear the other person, unless, I put it on speaker...which is weird. Also, when I turn up the notification sound, that works. So when I get a notification, notification sound comes out of the speaker but when I play music it does not. Any help?
I did unlock my bootloader about a month ago. Flashed a custom ROM.
And yes I did do a hard reset.

As you are using CM ROM better ask the CM community and the CM dev in the CM thread in supplying logs, logs, logs as nobody else could help you.

I wasn't able to post on the dev. part of the TB forum since I don't have 10 posts, I searched and couldn't find anything that really fit my problem.
My problem; I've been on CM7 for maybe a month now and it's starting to drive me crazy. When I'm listening to the radio or music or something at work and a notification sound plays, well it doesn't really play it just makes my music go silent for a few seconds then continues to play my music. That's a little annoying but I learned to live with it, but more times than not when I get a text or any other sound that will play over what I'm listening to my sound completely cuts out and doesn't come back, I hear a sort of static sound so I have to restart my phone. I ended up disabling all notification sounds so it doesn't do that but sometimes when I even load up skype when it has that sound play it does it. What would the problem be? any help would be great, thank you so much!
A little question, this is my first time installing a rom, lets say I want to update it, I get the latest kernal, that doesn't wipe everything on my phone right? It's basically just like an update? Again thank you so much!
CM7 is amazing, thank you for putting your time and effort into making it!

installing a kernel will not wipe your rom, but installing a rom will wipe out the kernel you had previously to whatever comes with the rom. It's also better to post questions generally here than the developer's forum.
FWIW I'm on stock rooted and every now and then I'll lose the mp3 player sound (player will show its playing, but no sound from headphones or back speaker) after the phone rings or some other alert goes off, and the only way I've found to get the mp3 player to provide sound again is to reboot.
So this might problem might not be limited to CM7.
I've been having an issue with the audio on my i9100 since I rooted and flashed the supernexus build 4 ROM from here (android 4.2.2)
I first tried contacting the developer, but have had no response so thought I'd try here.
The issue is hard to describe, but such that you would spot it instantly if you had the phone in your hand. Anyway, I'll try:
It's almost like there is a threshold in audio volume that needs to be exceeded before the phone will output any sound. In a typical music track, there are several moments below this threshold, so basically for certain moments in the track you hear silence instead of the quiet parts. This is extremely irritating, and makes some tracks bordering on unlistenable, especially at lower volumes which seems to make the problem worse. The problem occurs with all headphones I've tried, the phone speakers and also when transmitting audio over Bluetooth.
Has anyone got any ideas what the problem might be? Am I missing something?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, this is driving me mad! Cheers.
Try a different music player from playstore

Different rom? Have you tested a different rom to see if it follows you.

The problem didn't occur with the stock rom, it began when I flashed the supernexus rom. I'd like to avoid flashing another rom if possible, everything else on the phone is pretty much how I want it. I was hoping there might be some option in the settings that ive missed, perhaps something to do with noise cancellation?
Thanks
Try the milestone build from supernexus.
I've been using the nightlies for about a month now and recently installed the M1 snapshot. In both the nightlies and M1 the speaker phone does not work while in a call. I can hear the caller but they can't hear me as if the mic is muted. Also, things like voice commands doesn't work either in Google Now for instance. I searched the CM Jira bug tracker, but the only report of this I could find has been closed as not an issue. I saw someone else reporting this problem in a thread here and was wondering if anyone knows of a fix/workaround or is having the same problem.

Have had the phone 4 days. on VZW. last night caller complained she couldn't hear me (I use the speakerphone almost without exception). Again this morning. Called a friend and we tested.. he could hear me when I talked in regular mode and as soon as I turned on the speakerphone, I could still hear him but I was muted. Called VZ. reboot with/out sim card etc.. they know nothing. A buddie at VZ reset some stuff and nothing. said to return the phone.. might try a full reset first.. love to know of a fix. Thx!
UPDATE: took the phone into VZW and exchanged it.. hours of set-up.. but so far so good.. really like the phone...
I use voice chat on Skype a lot, but I also love the speed from 4.4.1 + crpalmer's kernel + bionic libs, however, there's one thing that's keeping me away from that speed, and that's voice chatting being broken on 4.4..Does anyone know a fix for this or know what kind of problem it is? Is it a 4.4 ROM problem or a kernel problem? Whether stock kernel or crpalmers, whenever I initiate a Skype call, it literally kills my ears, it makes this extremely loud screeching and static-y noise that never goes away unless I restart my phone...Anyone know what's up with this?

Have you tried last night's CM 11.0 nightly build? I specifically posted in that thread (which is where you should be looking to see if there is anything new) that I had pushed changes that *might* fix Skype problems and asking for feedback and yet I received 0 feedback.

Sorry for double post, I just wanted to make sure you saw it, but, Skype calling still makes that horrific static noise as before, thanks for trying to help anyway though.

What version did you install? (Specifically)
Are you using your phone as a phone, speaker phone, headset, bluetooth?

I'm using my headphones to test the Skype call audio, and I'm testing 20131211. I'll try speaker phone audio right now.
EDIT: I don't even hear anything when Skype calling through phone speaker, no call tone or anything.

That sounds like the behaviour prior to the changes I pushed. I just double checked an a wired headset is working fine for me.
What does your phone say in Settings >> About Phone >> CyanogenMod Version?
I just updated to lollipop today and one of the things that hit me the most was the volume output of the speakers. prior to lollipop, the volume is really loud (except for notifications). but now, the volume output of the speaker is really low. It almost starts at halfway up. and halfway down you can barely hear anything. Am I the only one facing this problem or is it a general firmware bug?
another question, If i choose to factory reset, will I be able to automatically restore everything after resetting the phone? I dont want to lose my contacts, music arts and all.. thanks!
i also noticed this after updating to lollipop. i hope someone can answer this question.
