charge issues with 6.0.1 / 1.4 - Asus ZenWatch 2

just got a 2nd hand zen watch 2... had a ton of charging issues where it would draw 0.12 amps, and constantly tell me that the charger is connected / disconnected . got frustrating so i did as i do with anything else, went out and bought a new one to do a buy/swap/return to find that the new one is having the exact same issues
it worked fine until i did the update to 6.0.1 and started giving me issues. anyone else come across this? i cant seem to find it anywhere.
edit:: did a factory reset, though it fixed the problem but it didnt. still showing the toast notifications, charging / not charging and the little thunder bolt on the home screen comes on and goes off. super annoying.

Bad contacts ?
Verify using a charger 5V/1A ?

Yeah, I ran into this, and it seems like a genuine issue with the power it's being 'sent'; as soon as I pulled it off my laptop and charged from the wall, it worked fine.

[Q] TF201 Only shows display when charged is attached!

Hi there,
After a few weird battery problems with my tf201 where it would only recharge at a drip-charge rate it finally came back to normal and started working again. Then the dock started acting up and wouldn't charge the tablet whist connected. After getting a new cable the problem still persisted so I am certain there's a real issue with the battery.
Now however the current issue is that it will only light up the screen for use whilst it's connected to the charger and power is flowing in! It's on full battery and will not show the screen after pressing the unlock button without the charger in. It literally flashes on every millisecond the chargers connected!
Any ideas of how I could fix this? Looks like i'll be sending it off to ASUS pretty soon unless somebody fancies buying it.

Were you ever able to fix this? I am having the EXACT same problem. I believe replacing the charging port might solve it.
Unfortunately not

Unfortunately not pal, I took it apart to try and replace the battery and ended up damaging it more.
I just ended up selling what I could for spare parts.
Good luck with yours dude.

Issue with my Z2 (acts up on USB)

I tried to do a search but didn't come up with anything entirely on point. My issue is when I plug my Z2 into a pc it goes crazy. A whole lot of lag, and any program I use constantly crashes/refreshes and the screen becomes very unresponsive (i.e. if im typing a text, the keyboard drops down and back up every 2s, or a website will flicker and reload, games will load then crash and reload). Eventually the screen turns off and won't come on again until I remove the plug. It also won't charge off the dock charger. It pops up a msg saying battery is draining faster than it is charging. Here are the the things that lead up to this:
1. I was trying to charge it at work with a sony magnetic charging cable ( I hate opening the flap), and it wouldn't register the charger but the screen would come on when connected. It was previously working fine up to that point with the charger. So I was messing with it to see if the contact points weren't touching and the whole phone shut down. I couldn't get it to turn back on until I got home and used the wall charger, everything else just made the LED flash red but not respond to power + volume up or down (which worked after putting on the wall charger for 20m)
2. I got the OTA update for .402 this morning. So when the initial crash happened I was on .69, but I never tested it on the USB before the .402 update. I've tried a few different USB cords, including the one it comes with. Tested the dock charger on both .69 and .402, neither worked. The charging icon just flashes.
Going to try a repair in PCC.
Well I did a repair. First time around it got half way through updating and auto restoring apps, and it then started failing updates and installs. Rebooted and it boot looped. Redoing the repair, but I'm not hopeful on getting it working properly again
I know its under warranty, but since I got imported it from Taiwan are they going to give me a lot of grief to get it fixed/replaced?
EDIT: No dice, still can't use usb to pc or the magnetic charging dock. Really disappointed. No one has any ideas?
Contacted support via chat, they had me call and they said they don't have parts or the phone in the US to service me yet, and so my options are to call long distance to UK or Tiawan or wait an unspecified time for them to have the phone/parts in the US to service it. Not sure I want to call long distance, who knows how long i'd be on the phone and how big the bill would end up being >.< Pretty sure this will be my first and last import.

oh.
I'd an older xperia that would get upset when I wouldn't use the original cable. It would cause random touch screen interactions.
If you've tried everything it probably time for a a warranty repair / swapout
Yeah, that's pretty much what the US sony rep told me. Its just going to be a hassle to contact someone outside of the US. I'm gonna try to email or e-chat before trying an expensive call :/

[Q] Asus Zenfone 5 - keeps charging even without a charger

...more like faking, to be more specific.
Hi,
I use Asus Zenfone 5 sincesince almost one year, and I really love it. But since I tried to charge it with the unknown charger I found in the rented car (phone went off right after), the LED indicator keeps lighting and phone acts like it's on charge, whenever it's plugged or not. Do you have any idea how to make it work normally? It's kinda annoying.
The phone is rooted. Recently I replace the screen by myself, cause I broke it. I cleaned the MicroUSB port with a toothpick, didn't help.
Any ideas guys?

Watch not charging after update to 5.1.1

My watch updated to 5.1.1 last night. Everything seems fine except when I place it on the charger it doesnt start charging. If I restart the watch on the charger it starts charging ok (confirming the base and cable are ok) until the next time I use the watch and I put it back on the charger and it wont charge until I restart it again. In other words I need to restart every time I put it on the charger.
Has anyone else experienced this?

If you have problems after OTA 5.1.1, do a factory reset on watch once!
This solves most issues after update!
Thankyou for the suggestion Bitstra.
I bit the bullet overnight and did a full reset (now called a factory reset) on the watch. Sadly the watch is still the same. I put the watch on the charging dock and it wont start charging until I restart the watch..but restarting seems to work every time.
I can live with the problem but I cant help feeling I should have bought the Sony SW3...and then I wouldnt have also been let down by LGs crappy decision not to build the wifi hardware into most of their models.
I see I am not the only one with this problem.....

Can confirm issue...woke up this morning to a battery level of 44% after putting it on the charger before bed (don't recall what it was at last night) had to restart to get it to charge... Will reset today as I was planning to anyway..
Hi:
I have 2 chargers because I use one for travel. After updating to 5.1.1, one works and the other does not. I swapped the components and found it was the cable. I hope that this helps.

Nope. Something is wrong with your watch configuration. Have you tried another plug for your charger? It shouldn't do that and I don't have problems and I am on 5.1.1.

Considering the fact that there are many people experiencing the same issue, it is most certainly NOT his watch configuration..There definitely is something wrong with the update on our watches.
For me, the problem is intermittent so it maybe only a matter of time before you or others see it creep up. Luckily, one can tell right away whether a charging session will work or whether a reboot is required. As bugs go, this is only a minor inconvenience..albeit one that LG needs to address..
Same here, watch was charging wen I went to sleep but charging stopped at around 60%

Well now mine isn't charging unless I reboot it on the cradle. Will investigate more later.
I had the same issue with cable from another device.
With genuine cable charging starts well.
I also had something similar. The watch doesn't always start to charge, but reinserting it into the cradle seems to fix it every time. This began to happen a few days before the 5.1 update (so no direct link to 5.1. but maybe something is wrong in Play services. I also sometimes had an issue with a battery drain the few days before the update).
There is a slight corrosion (discoloring) starting on the second charging pin
Both my brother and I noticed the same problem after receiving the 5.1.1 update on our G Watches. For me, taking it in and out of the cradle does not fix it. If the battery is low it will not charge until it is rebooted. In the morning when it has a full charge I can take it on and off and it will go into charge mode reliably, but at the end of the day it will not.
Happens here too. I have to shut down the watch and then put it at the cradle.
Funny, had the same issue. Tried switcing cables, connecting it straight into PC and reseating the watch on the charging pad. Nothing helped. It started to charge the moment baterry died and it shut down. Also running 5.1.1. Thought it was some charging contacts on the watch issue but seems to be software indeed. Still have some battery left but putitng it on the charing pad does nothing at the moment. Nice bug!
Another G watch user here with the same charging problem after updating to 5.1.1... I guess that I am not the only one.
Same problems here with 5.1.1
Any solution to that? I wiped the watch recently and the bugs still stays. It's a bit annoying to force restart the watch everytime i need to charge it.
For me charging works after putting Watch a few Times on and off the docking

Your problem seems to be different then. I tried to plug it few times, cleaing the connectors, using charger instead of computer that powers the charging station. Nothing helps. It starts charging the moment i reboot the watch and only then.

Possible S9+ Charging Issue??

Brought my unlocked S9+ home from BestBuy Friday (the first day they became available in the US). I successfully charged it up a couple times with the provided Samsung quick charger (wired) and a cheap wireless charger I grabbed at Walmart. However last night, having the phone on the charging stand I noticed the phone's red LED remained on too long even though the charging stand light indicated it was charging the phone. Finally early this morning I checked the battery level and it had gone down. The phone was not charging. I plugged the phone into the Samsung charger for the rest of the morning. After an hour or so I checked again and the level had drop a few more percentage points! WTF?? Anyway I shut down the phone and then tried again with the wired quick charger. This time it charged fine.
I wonder if this is a pending future problem. To be honest I was watching a YouTube tutorial last night on how to bring up the diagnostic screen (using a series of phone pad key presses). I wonder if that messed with the phone somehow (I did not knowingly make any changes. Just tried some of the "tests").
Anyway, hopefully this was just a one time issue...... If not, I'll report back.
I haven't noticed any issues. Maybe it was just a one off. The only thing that will truly tell is time I guess
what temperature had the battery?
Above 45°C?
I've had this issue. I caught it when the charging failed -- had an error about CPU being too high/hot. It would not charge until I re-sat the device on the wireless charger.

I did not notice an error message. By "re-setting" the phone on the charger do you mean moving it around?
i have this same issues. It says Fast Charging, But battery level gone down. Any one notice, Its simply say Fast Charging. But whenever its says Fast Charging and in Bracket (Its says how much time it take to complete) in that time charging works fine. I think its a software issue. Because i tried click Fast Charging turned off and on again.....then charging works fine. Some way in Software blocking this. I hope so.
