Here's my story, about 3 weeks ago i bought my new xperia SP, and first i get the sim card provide by some operator that include the package. And for some reason i have to change the sim card for another operator, but after i change the sim card the signal seems low then the first operator. And i try to get some information about this android phone. And i get this some information that give some advice about setting the signal. And the good thing about it is it can make the battery can last a little longer because the setting set just choose the wcdma only or just gsm only it depends what the best in my area, and can reduce the heating that cause from device always search what the best network if we choose the wcdma/gsm option. And here the thing start. I follow the instruction: first you dial *#*#4636#*#* and the setting window come out. And the choose phone setting, set the network to wcdma only or gsm only. And i choose the wcdma only. After that start to refresh the smsc and update it. After that the instruction said to choose to select the radio band. After i select the radio band my device loose the signal and it just show x in signal bar. After that i try to restart the phone but it come out the same no signal appear. I try to remove and replace the sim card but it steel same, i try to change with another sim card from another operator and it steel same. After that my last choice is to reset my phone to factory setting. And seems it work my signal is back. But after that my phone signal become so weak and recently i got my signal got lost for a view time it just show x but it's not for long the bar seems back again. I start confused is that the advice i choose is wrong ? And there a some info that i got from some search in internet that says upgrade the baseband can make a risk that wifi, LTE signal, and the other connections setting loose they capabilities. I'm so frustated now need help immediately, anybody have some advice or solution? thank you first.

I have the same problem too. I go to the service menu then select the USA band, and I lost the signal. And there is no networks found/available!
The solution is, you need to flash the baseband. First you need to download the newest stock rom (the stock must for your country, you can try asking Google). After that, you download and install the flashtool ( ask to Google too ).
After that, install the drivers (not compatible on Windows 8.1 ), goto C:/FlashTool/Drivers, and run the installer, then select Flashmode Driver.
After you install the driver, move the downloaded rom to C:/FlashTool/Firmwares, then run the flashtool via start menu.
Click thunder icon, select Flashmode, then select the firmware you downloaded.
Make sure that you only flash baseband, not kernel or wipe data, or anything (I forgot where the checkboxes located)
Then, click flash. Turn of your phone. Then hold Volume Down Button, and plug the USB cable that connected to PC, until the illumination bar turns green.
Then wait the process, and it's done.

well Sony is bad, it is normal the XSP got low signal and also this product is discontinued. There will be no any updates again in the future :crying:

that solution is for you accidently choosen the wrong band, and you lost the signal forever. If they are having low signals, try switching from WCDMA to 3G

Ok, sorry for not giving details earlier. I've been using my XSP for 6 months on a 2G connexn, and all was good. Then I tried to shift to a 3G and my problem, on WCDMA only or WCDMA Preferred, I get absolutely no connection, no voice, no data, no bars! GSM only for 2G is still fine. Wifi is working fine.

I have this strange data connectivity issue, I am on a network(bsnl/mtnl, mumbai) and it supports hsdpa at 2100mhz band and our s2 supports that. now the problem is I am unable to connect to hsdpa network(data) signal comes fine no issues there. but with the same sim if I use my frnd's xperia go I am able to get data connection just fine. moreover if I move out of my area then I am able to connect on s2 also. I dont know what the problem is.
I am on jellysnap rom. xxms4 modem and xxms1 base.

did you try to change the modem? or you can check this with other rom whether it is working there or not.

you could try checking your apn settings, detection of apn are different on different roms.
or try forcing the network to use WCDMA mode (go to phone, then dial *#*#4636#*#*), go inside the first menu there and force it to use WCDMA (incase the rom toggles are misbehaving)

yes I tried that.. I have changed ROMs, changed modems... I am running out of options... !!! tried forcing wcdma mode too.. .
I think problem lies with hspa+ and HSDPA.... I
I will flash a stock ROM then we will see what happens... !!!

no apns are right as i can connect to edge network just fine in evry rom.

I've flashed my rom, everything is fine. I found the right rom for my device.. Everything is working fine except the sim card.. The problem is, my phone is detecting my sim, but I dont have "signal bars logo" in upper right and my Sim Management is grayed out.. I cant access Sim toolkit too.
I got my Imei number and its not "null" or "invalid".
I just dont know why theres no network.. :'(
Or this problem, when i tried wiping the data and cache using recovery mode, the samsung logo is vanished and the phone are able to detect the sim card, but since the imei number is "null" or "invalid", I dont have signal. So i tried restoring my imei and everything is fine. I got signal.
But the problem is, When i switch the data on, Im only getting an Edge signal(E) and not WCDMA(H). When i tried to change the setting by making it "WCDMA only", my signal lost.
Its like, the phone lost its capability of having a 3G signal.. How to fix this problem?
Please, someone help me. Ive already spent 3 days of searching but still no solution.. Please please someone help..

i updated my N915P from smart switch to Marshmallow and now i cannot get any signals...i have to unlock my phone again but i do not know how to do it. i bought it unlocked-pre rooted from the reseller but he isn't in touch anymore....please someone help me...and no i cannot spend any kind of money as i do not earn money myself and my parents won't allow me to either......also I'm from India so everything costs like hell here.....
FIX:
After searching through a lot of sites and forums I just tried to dial #72786# carrier reset as a hopeless experiment and viola my phone rebooted and was showing my carrier and i was able to make calls & SMS too. So I just want MODs to close this thread but do not remove it if someone else does the same mistake like I did.
NOTE: It will also ask for Device Activation after the reboot. Keep that in mind!
Just flash mm again whenever you get msg for android updating don't click okay just press home button and let it stay in notification. Your data will work normally.. I'm trying to find fix for it till then you need to use it the way it is..

No I have saved my wifi pwd in lp but its working fine after update... Fingerprint records are causing trouble to me.
I have a sprint note edge and i updated it to marshmallow
Now , i have no signal
It says emergency calls only
And it is on gsm/ global
I am currently in the middle east

insert your sim card
go in settings/networks/mode & set it to GSM
select manual operator & search for your carrier.
if that doesn't work then go in diler and enter ##72786#, select Yes and reboot and try the method i said again

go in dialer and enter ##72786# a popup will show up, select yes and reboot your phone. if that works or not, please report back here
Not working
no any change...same problem after reset.
I have one Jio Sim and one Idea sim. If I select cellular data on the Jio sim, both sims have network. However if I select cellular data on Idea sim, jio does not get network. Is this a known problem? I am using the CM13 Snapshot with CM13 firmware. Any help will be appreciated!

Use Jio Sim in SIM 1 slot, i recommend you to flash modem files from MIUI 8(MM), The radio firmware which comes in Firmware.zip is buggy doesnt works in many devices such as mine. So i have to flash MIUI modems everytime when i flash CM and after that it works like charm.

Can you please post that miui modem? I am on CM13 19sep Nightly and have flashed cm13 firmware before flashing Cm.. So i can still go to twrp recovery and flash that?
I am having Jio in Sim 1 and Airtel in Sim 2, Jio works fine but Airtel cant connect to network many times.. Network operator is shown in the results but I get error "Cannot connect to network right now, try again later" ... I have to restart to get airtel working (which stops after a while). Apn settings are all default.

Just download beta rom form MIUI, and extract NON-HLOS.bin file, and flash it in fastboot mode. dont restart the device, just switch airplane mode on and off, your network will be back.
This phone supports LTE + LTE standby. I think it means only one sim can use LTE at a time. Correct me if I am wrong.

his problem is when he turns On the cellular data on 2nd Sim, the network goes away completely on 1st one. if he is not using hardware mod 2sim+sd card, then its modem firmware not behaving.

download it dude, rom itself is not huge, its only 1.2 GB, if have any other build you can use that too..

U cannot use LTE+LTE, Jio being a All time LTE Network as soon u choose data on any sim be it on 1 or 2 the data shifts to LTE for the sim selected for data changing the band for network on the other simcard.
@Rohit DK donnot flash any modem it will not work. Also u might get problem with sim cards not detecting.

ohh.. i just forgot that JIO is all time LTE network, but flashing the modem files from stock rom will not messed up in anyway. @Rohit DK yes he is right, i literaly forgot that JIo is all based on IP network, so if you have cellular data turned off on JIO, Its still works on IP.. so yes you cannot use jio sim with other sim data on.

My problem is little different
I am getting Jio 4G in Sim 1 and Airtel in Sim 2
Sim 1 is set to LTE
Sim 2 is set at 2G
I get no network in Sim 2, when I search for network I can see airtel but I am not able to connect to it

let me simplify the language for you to understand maybe it might seems stupid for others, but i will try my best , JIO is all Data network, which means when you are not using its internet. it is connected to the internet, because it works on internet only, all calls, sms, everything works on via data connection only.. if you see 1 bar in network strength, it is connected via Data only, This is what LTE is. right now phones are not capable of connecting data on multiple sims at a time. so by this logic.. Your jio sim is connected to internet by Default(doesnt matter cellular data on or off, it is connected to it in both cases.) so when you manually trigger the cellular data on 2nd sim, JIo sim goes offline, because your phone is configured to connect data only on one SIM. huh..

I do understand but I am not on data on jio or airtel. I am on WiFi all the time.
