I had the same problem till I ditched TWRP for CWM. My I717 seems to like ClockworkMod better. Just couldn't get TWRP to flash the modem correctly. *#06# will give you the "Null Null" IMEI message if you have the same problem as me. Use Kies to recover and initialize the device, its under "Tools". When done you will be on JB with proper IMEI. Flash CWM through odin and go from there.
**EDIT**
Turns out that the problem I was having might have been because of outdated modem files. The issue is resolved for me with the modems at the following link. 4g lte has never been this fast before these drivers. Fast and stable, be sure to give the OP a thank you.

I've been having the same issue. I started with Stock, went to CWM ver 6, CM 10.1. Decided to flash a modem, and then it would say unknown baseband / no phone number / no IMEI. After trying many modems and restores, I have restored through KIES back to factory as of now.
If anyone has an idea, it would be appreciated.
I live in Florida the only way I get 4g LTE is with stock modem...I used to have the same issue...so I just keep it stock...

Hello, i have a strange problem. My device has no service, but in "status" i get asu (10 for example). The imei is good and its not a carrier or sim problem. I downgraded for stock 4.1.2 and lost root and everything and it wont go. Any answer??

Could be a number of things, you don't give any information so very hard to help.
Which rom have you come from, which version of stock are you trying to flash? Have you tried another sim in your phone, or your sim in another phone? Is the APN and network settings right? Is your IMEI blocked or not matching the one under the battery?
Try helping us and we'll try to help you.

I flashed omega 46.1 and the problem started. I think it messes up my efs folder. Now i run cm10.1 after full wipe and i get signal but suddenly "no service" but i get asu in "network strength". The apn is good also. I changed carrier and sim and the problem remain. My imei match the same imei on the box. Its something with the software im sure. But how can i fix it?

Go back to official stock rom and test again.
I did it. Downloaded from samobile the latest firmware for my country. Lost root and it changed my kernel, modem, system and cleaned it all except sd card.

You've either flashed an EMG based rom, in which case you can only use EMG baseband from now on, our you have corrupted your efs folder.
If you don't have a backup of your efs then you will have to pay for a repair.
Using MobileUncle Tools app I have tried to update my recovery, I searched and downloaded a recovery using mobile uncle and installed it, again, using mobile uncle. I now don't have a recovery and can't find any signal, on mobile uncle I have it shows I have No IMEI, no internet no nothing however WiFi works, how will I go about fixing this problem?

Thanks for reply, i fixed this phone using support on a different thread, i flashed to a different rom for my phone (note 3) and that didnt work, tried a different rom same phone that worked, i could then modify the IMEI.bak created by mobileuncle tools and changed that then restored IMEI from that file using same app (mobile uncle tools)
Eventually i got it working
So i searched and searched but couldnt find anything so here it goes, i have a s3 i9300 and i updated it to 4.3 by using odin. and now i cant connect to any computer or odin and even if it does, sometimes, odin stucks at get pit for mapping. i downoaded pit and tried to flash it too but it wont. i have stock recovery so cant do anything from the phone. Help would be much appreciated!
If odin gets stuck then it is connected .
Reads as you need a new motherboard .
But you can try below as warranty is void /

You have now probably bricked your device you should never repartition or nand erase unless you know exactly what you are doing and I mean exactly! I am sorry to say I think your phone is not recoverable! Someone put me straight if I am wrong..
I read somewhere on xda that try to repartition by doing a nand erase. It still goes in download mode. I once bricked it before by flashing a corrupt rom wasn't downloaded completely. But it didn't give get pit for mapping error. Is it possible that pit file is missing? I flashed 4.3 from 4.1.2 it shouldn't give this error. Wht do you think is the possible cause?

So maybe there's still some hope. Can you tell me what are .Oct files?
So I was just surfing the net and my s3 started flickering and shut down. After that I tried to turn it on but it was in an infinite start (bootloop) on the samsung logo. Went to recovery mode (stock, phone was never rooted) and saw that there was an efs problem (was saying failed to mount efs) so I cleared the cache and factory resetted the phone. After lots of searching found this https://youtu.be/xJMJLdzHaAY
Flashed it with odin ( I think it is an efs file) burt hthe big problem is that when the phone booted up I cannot make calls. So the imei lost. (It is 499****....). I will be very happy if someone helps me!
Have you done it as on youtube was? Did you flash /efs from I9100? And what is your soft version? The newest avaible?
If I remember well, stock with modem MG4 was repartioning /efs and then any try to back to previous modem version were finished bricked /efs.
What can you do right now then? Your situation is so complicated, try to flash fully the newest stock avaible, maybe it will help but I don't think so. The last think afterwards which may help you is repartioning, but it also may not help.
When u have never rooted so I can bet u have no /efs backup, so thats why its so complicated
It happened so unexpectedly. Dont know even why. It just shuted down and thats it.

@marti2003 If you have your original IMEI then you can fix it using z3x box after rooting your device
I have it under the battery but dont have a z3x box. But I will just give the phone to a repair shop (not samsung).
