Hey,
I wonder if there's a possibility to use the build in IR Sender/Receiver? It'd be awesome to build an app with IR support

Sure there is. I use mine to control my home theater
Awesome, do you have an example or some docs?

Looks nice, but I wanted to build an own app
Well if this person is a developer then you should be able to make your own app utilizing the IR Blaster. I'm guessing it will involve you needed the source for the IR, but if this developer is able to use the HTC IR, then maybe the source is either open source or a standard source for IR Blasters. Maybe you can contact them and ask how they accomplished it.

Probably won't be your answer but htc is offering an Api for devs and supposedly released sdk for it ..

+1 :good:
I love this app... My local sports bar hates it though...
But the phone already has the app built in why pay 10 bucks for an app that the phone already has built in. I use mine everywhere. It's great whenever I have to stay at hotels because sense tv even tells me what's on.

My TV didn't work with the codes in the default app, nor was it able to "learn" from the remote for whatever reason....the SmartRemote of HTC app on the market for $5 worked perfectly.
No idea why, but that might be one reason some folks might choose not to use the built-in app.

This will only matter to me if the chromecast supports it, and they never said it did.
This is awesome, now I just need to get a miracast compatible receiving device...

are there any cheap miracast receivers out there?
Is there a reason I'd use miracast over chromecast since I just bought one of those?

OK that's cool thanks so would this work with a computer or laptop or does it need a certain device from Google? As I see some ofmyounare saying you need a miracast enabled device to use it with.

Like you said, has to be a miracast enabled device. I don't know of any computer program to enable it. I believe the devices are mostly smart tv and some blu-ray players. I'm hoping the new chromecast will support it.

If the chromecast device works you'll have a smart tv for $35 assuming you live in the US. I don't think it is available outside of the us at the moment. The device is pretty small, around the size of a large USB thumb drive judging from the pictures and plugs into hdmi.

Awesome I do love in the us though I'm currently out of the country but I'll be back in 1 month. I'll have to look up this chrome cast. So you just plug it in your TV and it uses the TV as a monitor and sort of makes it a smart TV? Well if I understood right that's sweet especially for only 35 dollars.

They have added Miracast but the performance isn't great on my PTV3000. However, my PTV3000 is pretty terrible so it could easily be of no fault of the Nexus 10.
I thought I noticed a new option but I couldn't remember if it was there the whole time

Chromecast does not support Miracast.
And given that it's only in the 2.4ghz range only, that's probably a good thing. In most of my use cases, you probably wouldn't want to use it without 5ghz.
It's designed a little differently though - instead of going from the internet, through the device, to your monitor/TV, Chromecast takes the content directly from the internet using your phone more like a remote. The quality of the stream should be much better.
But of course you lose the ability to mirror the screen of your device on your monitor/TV.
I prefer the better quality stream for most wireless streaming and will use my HDMI cable when I need a mirror as the performance was better with that anyway.
It's a hardware button that slots into your 3.5 mm headphone socket and can be used as a shortcut for a number of apps like camera shutter or flash.

It's no bigger than the cutouts for the headphones on most cases so this should be fine to use on a phone with a case. It is in fact the same size as most headphone connectors so if a headphone fits so will this. Just an excuse to spend 24p really lol that's why I bought one, no reason to.. No reason not to. Although I do think being able to activate the flash with one click even with the phone in standby is pretty useful for me personally.

Any effect on battery life?
My G3 (D855) seems to be having issue detecting anything that I plug in the headphone jack other than the stock headphones that came with it. I tried plugging in the pressy button and a portable speaker on separate occasions but they were only detected momentarily. The button works fine on my old phone which is a galaxy note n7000 so I'm pretty sure it isn't spoilt.
Anyone has any clue about this issue? Otherwise I'll probably send my G3 for repair since it's still obviously still under warranty.
I am having issue with Pressy on g3 and my other phone so it's not the phone it's Pressy.

As funny as this sounds one of the important reasons I chose this phone was the or blaster or I should say one of the primary reasons I switched from the s6 to this instead of an s7. However I seem to not really be able to use it. I have to be about 3 feet from the tv before it can reach. So I cannot adjust the volume unless I walk to the tv. I cannot sit on the couch and adjust volume. Can a few of you tell me how far away you can be from the tv and still get the ir to reach?
Sent from my LG-H830 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Same thing here. Went for the G5 instead of the S7 because of the IR blaster. Range is absolutely awful compared to the S6. Probably my only problem with the phone at the moment.

Yea only issue I have. But I am one of the fee people that use it all the time. I noticed when I was buying the g5 that the ir port is probably 10% the size of the one on the s6. Hopefully software may be able to fix it?

I found that the SURE remote app works way better than the built-in remote app. Works from about 10 feet away for me, with no issues.
Hmm. Works the same for me. Can you verify that the built in remote app has same range for you? I tried peel to as it has a lock screen remote but I have the same results with it.

Using LG app I managed 10 ft as well
Well it looks like mine may be faulty then. I cannot manage more than 3 feet.
Try Anymote, that's what I use for my M9 and its fantastic. I won't have the G5 until tomorrow, so I'm not saying it will give you more range. It doesn't hurt to try though
I too get at least 10 feet range from my G5. It works from the same spot in the bedroom equally as well as my G4 did.

Anymore allows me to sit on my couch at least and use it. I do have to lean forward a bit but not a biggie. I get about 5 to 6 feet now.

How to turn my microSD external storage into adaptable storage?
Official firmware for LG G5 don't support that feature of marshmallow.
If memory serves, I used this method...
http://www.modaco.com/news/android/...e-adoptable-storage-on-your-s7-s7-edge-r1632/
Yes, the article specifically states for the S7, but it worked (eventually) on my G5. I had to run through the process a few times, but eventually it stuck.
This was some time ago, so there may be an easier/better/more reliable way by now, but this should get you going if nothing else has been discovered.
Just remember, you may need to go through the process multiple times before it is successful (I have zero idea why), so don't give up hope if it doesn't work the first time. Good luck.
Incase that method doesn't work^ Download systeam tweaker on play store. Works on my end, its pay app tho.
