Well, what the idea of using this ?
Having root you can easily change: governor, i/o scheduler or frequency with an app. Like Rom Toolbox.
Maybe I am missing something ?

Are you sure can get core 4-7 frequency lower than 800? Are you sure you that core 1-3 turned off on idle?
Just look at current CPU status using: CPUZ

I can get all cores as low as 200 mgh, and I am also sure they go offline while the phone sleeps

Ok, you win, 3c Toolbox seems to be smarter then i thought :good:
But it is still extra app with extra CPU time and RAM usage. And init.qcom.post_boot.sh is native and the most not resource-intensive way to configure frecs.

Nice discussion and opportunity to learn something new.
Thank guys.

I think it's boot dependent on stock rom

Hi Mob. Glad I ran across your thread. I flashed your fix-freq zip and it's great frequency btw. However, it's not being persistent.
I am using Firelord's CM14 build btw. I was on S288>CM13 prior to CM 14. I'm having problems with max frequency. It wouldn't let me stick to 1.3ghz. It reverts to its stock governor (performance: cores 2 and 3 are offline, little cores 4, 5, 6,7 are set to 1.1ghz) I just found about this when I checked my cpu overlays because of stuttering and intermittent freezes.
I just need your fix-freq to hold on boot and normal usage. I can't do stuffs with a 960mhz max freq. Lol. Any help on how to achieve this is highly appreciated. See attachrd files for reference. My post also on CM14 thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/vibe-p1/development/rom-unofficial-lineageos-14-1-t3536834/page5

Note sure what else needs to be changed in order for the frequency to hold. Pretty sure this wasn't the case when I was on S272 and 288.
Attached is your init.qcom after flashing it through twrp. I feel that there's something overiding your qcom setup. Not sure what it is as I just want to have a stock scaling frequency on CM14.

Dear I haven't hear anyone getting above 800 using this module...if you are using higher speed (>750) I dont think your processor will live long....better stick on to a max speed of 710....... Once the bootloader is unlocked we "may" get stable overclocking with higher speed...The developers are working hard on it just wait dear....

fkin liar. thread name suggest that you want to share the method to overclock x8 to 820 MHz, when the thread is just about OC, not oc'ing to specific frequency. you can get these instructions from doixanh's thread. this one is not only useless, it's misleading.

[Q] MK808/RK3066 Locked a 1Ghz

Ok, I Just got my MK808 mini pc and I found a huge problem because I was planning to replace my tv box for at least 10 months and if I dont solve te problem it ill not las that longer...
The chip is a RK3066 (many tabs have the same chip)
It was sold as a 1.6ghz dual core... and the problem is not that it doenst go any further than 1ghz, it just doent scales down.... (stays on 1ghz indenpendent of what you are doing, and thats to much... i gets hot and without any need....)
I used this app and 2 others to confirm this...
And if I go to CPU I see the time it spent on each clock speed... and it is always on 1000mhz... (100percent) BUT the app also shows that it has the 1600mhz available... so it seems to me that the cpu is set to 1ghz/1ghz or 1ghz max with the performance kernel.... (why the f would the manufacturer do this??)
So I tried the finless ROMs 1.4, 1.5 and 1.5A and 3 different kernels on the 1.5 and I get the same result
If I change the max or min speed on a cpu app (tried NO FRILLS and rom toolbox PRO) nothing happens, it still showing 1000mhz (1008 i think)
Tried to set another governor and still the same...
set on boot and reboot but still the same...
any solution ??
thanks

The Android OS, pre-load apps occupied same storage, and the system need to seperate some memories as ROM ( for install apps and stock app data,), and the GPU default occupied about 40M-50M as cache. so it's only show about 4.8GB
Flash Firmware
I think Flash new firmware can resolve the problems.

I have used greenAlgae's 2.7 version for several months
It works well for me with the stable cm-7.2.0-mango.zip available on the cyanogenmod website
Iv been using the smothass governor and have noticed massive improvements to battery life with only the occasional “screen on lag”
CPU Governors explained by deedii
14: Smoothass:
The same as the Smartass “governor” But MUCH more aggressive & across the board this one has a better battery life that is about a third better than stock KERNEL
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Smoothass
A more aggressive version of Smartass that is very quick to ramp up and down, and keeps the idle/asleep maximum frequency even lower.
Pro: Theoretically better battery life than Smartass.
Con: Same as Smartass & Interactive (the CPU will slowly ramp down after it is no longer needed (compared to its ramping-up speed). Might also go too low when asleep (an issue with other governor when a Sleep profile is used in apps such as SetCPU), causing the device to malfunction. Most common example is the screen not powering on when the power button is pressed or the phone begins ringing. Might also effect apps running in the background while sleeping.)

The fist thing I wanted to change was the bootsplash
Following This Guide I was able to change it in less than 5 minuets. I used this wallpaper and some photoshop magic.
>
>
>
Image 1: original bootsplash
Image 2: Image I wanted to use
Image 3: Was very large file size, took forever to boot & looked a funny green/brown colour on the phone
image 4: This was the smallest I could get the png without it distorting to much. (I used a mixture of tools found Here) But it still took forever to boot
Then I read up on Run-length encoding
Realized what I was doing wrong and made this one.
It boots in a flash (looks better on the phone)
nice work mate!!
Thanks wasn't expecting anyone to be interested lol
Iv uploaded the boot image
Next id like to update CWM.... I found a file named recovery... but I cant see it being as simple as replacing that one file lol
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I'm interested to see where this goes, can you tell us the changes you did to the krenel so far except the boot image?

Infinite Battery
Hi for all, i had seen this script here, and liked it a lot. So I decided to port it to the Moto X. I talked to TopDroid, and he gave me permission to do! So enjoy!
Features:
Code:
[B]What this script does?[/B]
When your phone is in AWAKE state:
Governor = Interactive
Max = 1728000
Min = 384000
When your phone is in SLEEP state:
Governor = OnDemand
Max = 384000
Min = 384000
So basically this script automatically changes governor,min & max freq and more
depending on your phone's state which results in saving battery to great extent.

Does this make the device stall after you unlock it?
does this trick work? i mean doesn't it freeze phone or what else? and how can i eliminated it?
To everyone asking questions, I've used for about 3 days now. Generally does not lag or freeze when screen is off. Active display still works wonderfully. Only had one freeze and that was when I had a few things running and one app stopped working, so I don't think it was because of this. I haven't noticed a whole lot better standby time (but my screen on time has gotten better so perhaps correlated) so I'd have to check to see if it actually switches governors when screen is off for me
I also changed it a bit because I use faux's kernel and changed it to intelliactive instead of interactive
Big thanks for the script!

[Help] GPU Overclocking

But I cannot overclock the GPU, it says 450Mhz max with any kernel, is there something I've done wrong?

Thank you

Thank you, I've tried that kernel, no GPU overclocking possible, neither via any app, or echoing the frequency to the max_oc settings file.
Other than that the kernel it is a total mess, phone couldn't shut off, kept restarting on it's own, the kernel got rid of my recovery.
I tried to flash a new recovery but, rashr couldn't do it, fastboot couldn't do it (even it said flash was ok), and z ultra multi recovery script could not do it.
Ended up restoring an FTF.
Seriously is any developer willing to uncover the mistery of GPU overclock on this device?
Somebody that can use it and wants to tell me it's rom and kernel combination, and how to get this thing working?
I would appreciate, on all the phones I've ever had, if a kernel had GPU overclock, it worked regardlessly of the rom, and echoing with init.d has always worked in the past, with the Z ultra nothing seems to work!!
Sorry for my broken english.

What is your real purpose of being able to overclock parameters...? Before it was possible with kernels built by chefs but now we have Lollipop 5.1.x, we have stable releases of those (not called stable but they are "stable" in terms of runtime, we have ART which have been improved a lot since its debut. And the Snapdragon 800 powering your device does not put you down even today when its two years old.
If you have perfomance issues with your device..and feel the need to "overclock" either the cpu or the gpu you probably doing something wrong.
The only thing you will achieve by overclocking is your phone starting to cook..with ART the phone heats up very quickly.
More than 2 months i was not able to OC the GPU, doesn't matter the combination of rom and kernel.
If there is anyone that have a clue on how to do it, please help me out.

validus rom has myself5 kernel
be aware it might damage your phone
If you wnat to overclock your GPU, you must have kernel support, or default is 450MHz
