I work 12 hour shifts on my feet, so even on my slower days I am pretty comfortably at my goal of 10k steps by mid afternoon and usually end the day with 15-18k. the last two days however I struggled to hit 10k by the end of my shift. I normally come home and throw my 360 sport on the charger and switch to my Huawei watch; yesterday I noticed that my step counting returned to normal after switching watches and then today I didn't even get to 8k on a day where I feel like I should have been closer to 15k. the only thing I can think that charged was my 360 got updated to 1.5. has anyone else experienced something similar? FYIW I'm using Google fit, not moto body.
I have also noticed a dramatic reduction, I am using fit as well. Perhaps it would be interesting to compare with moto body, when I used that before, the results were always similar give or take a hundred or so steps.
day 3 at work, 9 hours in and haven't cracked 5k. should probably be around 8-9 conservatively right now. gonna switch back to the sw3 tomorrow and see how it goes

I'm glad I'm not the only one! My step counts have DRASTICALLY decreased. Today we' took the dog for a walk, walked all over at a car show, cleaned the house, and I'm at 1,200 steps??!? My wife's fitbit is registering 6,500. Grrrr!
there are a few people having the issue on the Motorola forum too, but no fix. it seems to be OK when you're doing an activity, like when I'm very active it's fine, but the small things don't get counted. for example, I wear it to sleep and wake up with 0 steps, even though I get up to pee once or twice during the night.
hey guys,
My wife has the 360 2nd as well. She was complaining about this as well so I came here to look to see if anyone else is having the same problem, and we indeed are...
What can we do? Is there way to rollback the update?
She has a fitbit, and wore both on the same arm today and one shows the accurate 7-8K steps, where google fit has about 5300 and moto app had like 2k.
Any ideas? Rollback until 2.0 is the only thing I can think of. Not sure how to do i though.

Sucks to be him. I had to rma my initial 360 gen 2 and it took me 2 and a half months to get it back.

Possible solution
I had the same issue, after the latest update. I decided to check what Androids treatment of the Body App was and whether it was setup to ignore optimisations like the Android Wear app. It wasn't, so checked it and the step count is now back to before the update. Strangely my battery life has increased also.
Settings --> Apps --> Menu --> Configure Apps --> Ignore optimisations --> Moto body needs to be checked.
This was carried out on a stock LG G4

interesting, but I've never had body installed
so I went as far as wearing two watches on Friday, my 360 sport and sw3. I paired my 360 with my Nexus 7 and set fit to a different account so they would be completely different. the Sony counted just over 19,500 steps, whereas the 360 finished the day just shy of 13k. armed with hard numbers I called moto yesterday. tier 2 said I could send it in for repair but couldn't tell me what they would repair since it seems related to software, or I could pay $25 for a replacement. tier 3 is going to call me tomorrow.

Don't send it in.
It's definitely a software problem. I work 8hrs/day (sometimes 12) and my job has me constantly moving around. I used to get between 14k and 30k steps per day. Now I'm getting 10k-12k. Same watch too.
There's nothing wrong with the hardware. They did something to the software, or they nerfed the way that the motion sensor counts steps. I'm wondering if they nerfed it to try and reduce inaccuracies caused by simply moving your wrist. (In other words, counting steps only, instead of counting wrist movements as steps). I'm not sure though. If this is the case, then it isn't working well.

Moto worked with me a bit on this and I thought we were getting somewhere, but then kind of our of the blue they called to say they were closing the ticket but it works be addressed in a future update. in the meantime I went back to my sw3, which had been flawless. has this issue been fixed by chance? id love to use the 360 again

It's hard for me to imagine a Sony product that isn't made of the highest quality.
When browsing around the Sony forums and other places on the net, I keep seeing the same complaints. The magnetic charging ports are falling out which is allowing water to leak into the phone, ruining the phone. The phone also shuts down after downloading a lot of data over LTE or recording with the camera, due to overheating. I also see reports of people being unable to hold conversations because one party can not hear the other.
Are these people over exaggerating or are these real complaints? I was just ready to pull the trigger on one when I started seeing all of this stuff. Can anyone chime in that has had their phone over 1 month and has ZERO issues with it? Maybe there are just a select few that got a bad batch or something.
If you post can you also please post when you bought the phone or when you think it was manufactured. Maybe we can narrow this down to a time frame or specific region.
Just try to buy week 22 or higer (you have a little sticker that you pull out in sdcard compartment.
Yes, there are some things that we wouldn't expect from Sony but that was older batches.
I can record 5 min 4K video so can't see problem here.
All other manufacturers limited 4K to 5min, that's why they didn't have same problems.
Sony decided not to limit duration, so sometimes there will be overheating msg and closing camera.
I don't have any problem you said, I know for those guys and I'm sure that's all true but that's not general flaw and issue, that's perfectly normal...
If you aren't satisfied with Z2 you can always return in or change for another device...

I came from M8 and S5, after having the z2 for 2 months, there are couple things I really don't like about the z2, it is noticeably slower, say you click on the camera icon, it doesn't come on instantaneously, the in call voice quality and speaker phone are only ok, not great, volume is a bit on the low side.
The in call quality and dim volume is a deal breaker for me, I am looking to switch to the G3 or Note 4.

Well a huge problem is that I live in the USA and Sony will not cover any manufacture defect because there is zero warranty coverage in the US. I went through this with a Motorola phone I bought from Canada once.
So how long have you had your phone? Do you use the magnetic charging connector at all?

Yea I know that's why I wanted to ask around and see how many people weren't having problems. To me its got the best specs by far of any phone. I think the sound issues and maybe a bit of lag can be fixed with custom roms and what not. I just don't want to end up with the charging port popping out and then I don't realize it and go for a swim. The phone is going to cost me a lot of money and I won't have a warranty.

My advice - don't pay 600-800$ for device without warranty.
You never know..
I have device for a two months, I had Z1 (still have it) and I don't have any problems with both.
I totally agree with that post - nobody will open thread - my device is working perfectly -
All you can see here is problems and guys seeking for help but that doesn't mean it's faulty device.
As I said, I'm perfectly satisfied with Xperia Line and will buy Z3 as well...

Well that sounds absolutely great! I just ordered a white one from Amazon.com after reading all the great reviews on it. People are saying its the best phone they have ever used. I also picked up a charging dock. May need to get a second one but we will see. Does the phone come with a magnetic charging cable or a regular micro-USB cable?
I don't own a Z2, but what I can say is that that magnetic conector thing is half Sony's fault, half use of cheap third party cables's fault.
AFAIK, the connector wasn't meant to be used with cables, but only on stationary charging docks. The constant movement of the cable and device while using the device while charge might be the culprit to "invoke" both parties's fault I mentioned above.

I haven't heard anything about any Z2s shutting down from overheating, the camera closing on over temp is common though. How much time it takes before it hits the set point depends on a lot of variables, but basically the higher the ambient temp and/or the more heat generation inside phone(using data, high CPU loads, continuous live view, etc) prior/during camera use will impact it. I live in a warm region and when testing I got 6min of 4k before hitting alarm.
My phone is put on a magnetic dock every night and everytime I get in my and my port is doing fine.
My phone is from week 17 and has a the of center issues but everything works fine.
I didn't add a squaretrade warranty (not sure if could since didn't add it within 30 days of purchase), if I have a warranty issue prior to the US having parts I'll just send it to it's retail country.

I have w17 version and i haven't encountered any defects of any kind. This phone is awesome !
I have a week 20 phone without any issues and I consider it a fantastic device! come from note 1.
I've had my Z2 for a month now and couldn't be happier. No problems with over heating (Haven't done the 4K recording thing though), plug in my magnetic charge cable overnight (well, mostly every other night - what an awesome battery!).
I immediately installed Nova and have settled on Smart Launcher pro.
Also, was too impatient for OTA .402 update, so I did that myself.
When Sony support stops, I'll probably go CM but, for the moment, it's all good.

I came to Z2 from Galaxy Note 3, before that I had HTC One.
Z2 is the best for me among the 3 devices, it is not ideal but ticks all my boxes.
I have a 14W17 and while it gets warm when recording 4K, I did not manage to overheat it. I made a test yesterday just to check out, Ireland, Dublin, around 20 degrees yesterday in the shadow. I was walking in the sun and recording for 5 minutes, 4k video with steady shot, so even more demanding for internals. The phone was warmish, but not as hot as I thought.
Afterwards I checked and the CPU temp was 61 degrees while battery temp was 37 degrees, so yes, it gets warm but not so hot.
What was making this phone really hot was the AR mode or the special effects app, that lets you put things like falling satelite, ghosts and other stuff postprocessing. Those two made the phone hot, but nothing else is able to make mine this hot and I do not care about those two modes anyway.
I would really recommend this phone but I would never buy it without any kind of warranty. I would never buy piece of electronics that is that expensive, without any kind of warranty.
Anyway, look at M8 forum, Samsung forums. Those people that are happy, usually don't praise the phone on forums, but those that have problems - do... I was really worried and almost certain, I would not buy Sony but I said oh well, let's try something new (never had Sony phone before, only sony-ericsson). I do not regret it for now, even just for battery life it was worth it for me, I don't care about waterproofness whatsoever.
Noise cancelling headphones is a great plus as well!
Z2 should be available later this year is USA I think, if not, maybe Z3?

Exactly this, most people come to the forum are looking for help solving a problem or require specific needs but the truth is that these people are a vast minority of all the users of the phone rather than people making threads praising and complementing the device except for example if you look in the battery thread or the camera thread.
I've got a week 15 model and I love my phone, it's the best phone I've ever had, the previous phones I had that I considered the best were the Xperia X1 and the Motorola V3X.
Anyway, don't be dissuaded from the phone because of complaints you see in forums but that warranty issue, that's a bit dodgy, I wouldn't buy something if it didn't come with a guarantee or warranty.

You should be able to inspect the device before purchasing it and if you're purchasing from an online retailer you should have 7-14 days exchange/refund as per distance selling laws (if applicable in your country) if you're not happy with it after inspection, you wouldn't buy a car without taking a look inside/giving it a test drive would you?

Way they do it in my country is they show you a demo model that is tethered with a security cable. You can play with that one as long as you want.
Then if you decide to buy they offer you a sealed box, some may open it if there is a possibility of a sale otherwise not. Prefer to buy from a shop than online.
I understand that there is date printed on the barcode of the box itself, so wondered if there was a correlation between whats printed on the microsd tray and the box itself.
This way its much easier to distinguish newer batches from old without opening the box.
Can anyone confirm ?
Is there any way to calibrate or tune the pedometer? Its just abysmally inaccurate. It's counted over 1100 steps so far today and I've taken maybe 300.
If you moved your hand too much, it would count them as steps ?

I do understand that, but there's no way I made some 800 hand movements that could be counted as steps in two hours.
Just washing my teeth and shaving me it makes 700 steps (in 5min) . Same with Sony SWR-30 or Garmin or Fitbit. But there is only with the Samsung device that can pause and start after finish. Same if you if we washes windows
My counts have always been good. I have to purposefully walk a lot more at work and do several miles at the gym to hit my 11,000 steps for the day. The only time I got bad readings was when the Profile for myself, height/weight/sex/age was off in S Health. Check that maybe and reboot device and phone after.

Not really. I did find that typing at the PC ads quite a few steps. But any hope of using this to keep track of actual steps is futile.
You can turn off the pedometer while not doing exercise

Here is an idea that has helped me for years using 2 Nike Fuel Bands and all 3 of the Gear watches; use it for a "movement counter" not a "step counter". I am an office guy, but get to get up several or more times a day and move around. I go to the gym and if I do cardio, I can end up with 11,000 or more at the end of the day. What you need to do is to set your own total goal based on what you can normally achieve on your good days.
Nike had the right idea years ago on this with their "Fuel Points". They talked about the points gotten from walking, running, playing basketball, boxing, weight lifting, etc. I have carried this over to my Gears and they are accurate within this idea frame for me for the past 2 years. Last year I lost 80 pounds by hitting that 10,000 or 11,000 per day for most days of the week. When I first started losing I even would just do punching or over the head arm raises to get my total, and the more fit i became, the less I had to do this, and the more I actually did walk, lift, run, or do elliptical.
Hope this helps out in changing your perspective on what the watch can be used for.
Hello. I just got my Zenwatch 2 a week or so ago and I love it. I came from a Garmin Vivosmart, so the fitness tracking means a lot to me.
I've noticed that my step counter is way, way off. It should be about double what it is. I'll walk on purpose and it won't update whatsoever on my watch.
Anyone else having this issue or know a fix?
Thanks so much!

I am having the same issue, sometimes the watch counts my steps other times it does not and I have done a few factory resets with it still not working consistently. Does anyone have any suggestions?
If I restart the phone and watch, it usually resets and starts counting. I have also had to force stop the Android Wear and the ZenManager apps. That usually gets it going.
This is the one thing I don't like about this watch and I rely on it a lot. Very frustrating.

Just bought a second hand Zenwatch 2 and it seem have problem with steps count.
It seem count only half value from others device : my pebble time and my Fitbit one. Very strange.....
I also just bought this watch and would love to know if there is a fix to this issue. I really rely on this being accurate.
And it is very strange because if I start an exercice (running) the steps count is right, same count than my Fitbit or Garmin.
Seem just have no right count for daily tracking. I think it count only if there are a certain continuous steps number ? Ex if you walk 5 steps, stop, 15, steps, stop...... these steps are not counted.
Just wonderingif this is a common problem with all that own the watch or if WE are doing something wrong.

Wore yesterday with a Pebble Time that I've tested previously as being very accurate. Zenwatch 2 showed almost half the steps as the Time. I've worn the MS band 2, Vivosmart HR, Fitbit Blaze, and a few other watches in the last few months. All the step counts were at least close enough to be considered "working." The Zenwatch 2 isn't even close. The pedometer function shouldn't be too hard to get working in a $140 watch.
$5 pedometers work. Very frustrating.

Yes, very strange, some posts about this issue but but just 3 or 4 users.....
I have an LG-G, LG-R, SW3, Gear2_Wear and the Zenwatch 2 is the only one with wrong steps count....
Even on the watch itself, the wellness app reads 3913 steps and Google fit (on the watch) reads 2797 steps. How are they not reading the same sensor? Awful. I don't think the potential of Android Wear 2.0 and voice call ability is worth the trade off of absolutely no fitness tracking. I think I'm going back to my reliable Pebble Time that always "just works." Pebble health is always getting better too.
This watch definetly lose from 25% to 50% steps. It counted 1400 steps on the distance 1.8 km and I'm sure that my steps are generally less then 1 m.
Does this watch count the steps automatically or do you require hitting start each morning?
Which app are you using? I've found that the ZenFit app to be very unreliable for steps (I only use it for the sleep tracking function). The Google Fit app seems to be much more accurate, and the combination of the ZenWatch 2 and my Nexus 6 phone is very accurate for total step count.
My step count is working sort of. On my Zenwatch 2 I use the Glance watch face. As I type this the watch shows I've taken 2947 steps. On my phone, Fit says 4295 steps and the Asus Zenwatch app says 2847 steps? So, the watch and the Asus app are close but not identical. Fit is out in left field. Shouldn't the watch agree with one of the apps? Or does the watch do it's own counting?
I personally wear a fitbit charge 2 on my right wrist and my zenwatch on my left wrist. My zenwatch has counted 1,600 steps and my fitbit has counted 3000 steps. I guess wellness just doesnt count steps very well.
About a month or so ago my watch just started to drain battery about 20% / hour doing nothing. No apps active on the battery bar. Then I reset it a few times and it came back with the usual battery drain, it could last the day. Then about a week ago it started again. I reset 6, 8 maybe 10 times now but the battery is draining so that I can only get about 2 hours of use. Any ideas about what to do? Throw it away and buy another $300 device like the Fossil gen 5? I simply can't afford it right now but if that's what it takes then I'll have to save up for a black Friday deal of some sort. Can I replace the battery, do you think it's that?
It seems that it's Wear OS or Google services but I can't be sure because it auto updates even on a reset. If it's end of life so be it. Just would like to know once and for all.

Do you really find it strange that your device broke down after 4 years? Well it can happen. It happened to me and to other people too.
Unfortunately nothing you can do then to consider other devices.
No-one is forcing you though to spend 300$ for a new smart watch.

Yeah I was afraid of that. But you're right naturally, it's over 4 years old and gave me a good run. But I figure if I'm going to spend $200 I might as well just go for the top of the line these days which I believe to be the Fossil. I'll research it some more, probably wait a few weeks and then pull the trigger.
If there are any suggestions I'm certainly open to them. I would like to be able to use GPay from the watch though. Fine community here, sorry to have to leave it.

I have more than one Moto 360 (not sport though), and batteries have gone bad almost overnight. I also suspect it's a software issue, although batteries do expire. TOO BAD there is not a battery replacement, as I love these watches. I'm considering the Samsung Active, 2nd gen, when it comes out shortly, but will wait for a price adjustment. Costco sells the 1st gen for about $189, which is also nice. They don't use the Wear OS though and have their own.

I might be in the minority here but I like Wear OS generally. I did look at the Samsung but I'm not sure I want to give up some of the things on Wear. I also looked at the Fossil Gen 5 which looks amazing. Some on Reddit were saying they got a 25% off coupon but that is history now. I even called them to beg but the guy just was sorry I can't do it. Maybe BF or Cyber Monday. 3 months not horrible.
I too think it's software simply because it just dropped dead overnight. But seeing that that is what happens now I'm not too sure. Oh well it's still sitting here but I do believe it's deadsville.

Same here, prefer Wear OS, but might consider trying an alternate, if appealing enough. Re the software, I tried resetting one of my Motos, and had a VERY hard time, and almost could not connect. I read it was something to do with an interim Google update, but when I finally did, battery was not better, if not worse. I did not reset any of the others after that.
---------- Post added at 07:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:34 PM ----------
Now that I think of it and read a little more, the Tizen OS might not be a bad idea, given what is thought to be the connection between Google software and the battery failure. It would eliminate that possibility. I don't have much of a complaint with Google, but don't necessarily want to hang my whole life on it.

Update to this OP. I put the watch out of commission, unpaired it from Wear OS and factory reset and put it on the shelf. I even uninstalled Wear OS from the phone. Then I saw an update for the app and I believe that carrier services has gotten some updates as well. So I recharged the watch, reinstalled everything and the watch is now working perfectly. I'm getting over a day of use with very little battery drain. So it seems this was software related and not hardware. It's been a few days now and my Moto 360 is back on my wrist. Crazy but pretty cool.

Excellent! I have tried the same, with varying results, but hopeful. Still thinking about the upcoming Samsung Active 2, but sure have liked the Moto, and would prefer to stay with that if possible.

I have more than one of these, having bought on eBay when they were discontinued. One is totally gone, did not respond to the makeover, and got extremely hot on the charger, showing nothing on the screen. I have given up on that one. A second one has fallen by the wayside, in spite of several resets. Now it goes through the boot loop without advancing. Yesterday it looked like it was going to work but it went blank 30 seconds off the charger, repeatedly, rebooting each time.
So I'm down to 3 remaining, and as you found, the battery life seems better, although I don't think it's exactly the battery. As soon as they're put on the charger, they're ready to go again. Since they seem to be dropping like flies, I'm not too optimistic, but we'll see.
I notice there's been another small update to Wear OS. Never know if that's 2 steps forward or 1 step back. I sure have liked this watch and think it's just about perfect for my needs. Can't understand why they abandoned the line.

Me either. I think Lenovo killed it if I recall. I usually hold down the power button when it does that and the reset then stops the boot loop. Mine also got very hot on the charger and it might still, I'll have to check. It was the Wear OS update that got me to give it another try. I had put the watch away, removed the charger from the desktop and was looking at another watch. But I refuse to pay $295 so I'll wait. I do want the latest if I'm going to buy again but I'll wait for a sale. But for now I got lucky. Off the charger for 4 hours and only down 10% whereas before the whole shebang would only last 3 hours before it shut down. I had reset about a dozen times to no avail and the last time it worked. Stubborn me but certainly persistent.

I can see we definitely think alike. I do not give up easily and have had some success, but not all. You did get lucky, and hope yours continues.
I got a Samsung coupon with a phone purchase and am considering using it on the Samsung Active 2 when it comes out in a couple of weeks. If I didn't have the credit, I'd definitely consider the Active 1 which only came out earlier this year. Although if I'd bought the Active 1 and they came out with an updated version 6 months later, I would not be so happy. They look like the best options to me and the closest to our Moto 360 (but not Wear OS).

Just looked up the Active 2. It looks really great. Steep price but with credit it should be well worth it. And it looks like a natural fit if you have the Samsung device. But you have until at least the 7th pre-order date and the 27th until it supposedly ships. Keep at the Moto for a little while longer. You'll know soon enough if they are ready for the trash (recycle) heap. I mean if it's dead, then it's dead. Mine suddenly crapped out which is why I couldn't believe it would go that fast. Usually they degrade slowly and noticeably. Good luck.. keep us posted.
Hi All!!
Most of us dream of getting a top premium phone. But then this dream becomes a nightmare when the phone doesn't work as per our expectations. We start doubting our decision on whether the correct decision was made or not about purchasing the phone.
I don't know about the others but I went through the similar emotions in the past 3 days.
I bought S22+ through Flipkart BBD sale. The phone looked gorgeous when it was unboxed. Since the time I switched on the phone until yesterday, I observed the phone getting warm. Whether I use Camera for 5 mins or be on a phone call, the phone was constantly touching 40-41degrees. I realised that returning the phone is not an option due to the issue I reported. So, very hesitantly I took the phone to service center. Experience there was awesome. The rep was very assuring and said that this may happen if there is some issue with the batch file. He asked me to wait for 20 mins so that they will download the entire phone software again at one go. It was done. The phone is under observation and there is no heating seen as of now be it usage of camera or phone call. Phone temp not crossing 35 deg and the back pannel is relatively cool now. So in case if you are facing the issue, please visit the service center and get the software downloaded again. Hope this will help. I will share my observations soon.
Phone still hitting 41 deg when the camera is in use. Rest everything is fine. Battery, I would say is ok for me as I am not a heavy user.
Checked for software udate and Installed the Sep 1 security patch like 5 mins ago.
Will update soon.
Facing the same issue. Device starts heating even in light usage. Already installed latest software update but no luck!
Bought in BBD sale.

I understand how heartbreaking it is. Spending so much money and then facing the heating issue. My suggestion is visit the service center and ask them to download the software again. But then don't update it with the Sep 1st security patch. Use it for couple of days and observe and then download the patch. Also avoid playing heavy duty games on it. If it gets warm, just put it aside.
28th Sep
Phone is running just fine. Watching videos does drains the battery out but there is no warm feeling. Recorded videos for 7 mins and the phone felt pretty normal. No heat. I will continue to test the same.
29th Sep update
I installed additional work profile in the phone around 8 AM. When the profile was getting set up, the phone was heating a bit. I let it cool down for a bit. Then for the next couple of hours the phone was constantly hitting 35-36 degree even though there was no application running in the background. So after 5 hours of observation I uninstalled the work profile. It's 40 mins now and phone is resting at good 28 degrees.
Can you tell me which country your phone is made in. Mine is made in Korea and it doesn't heat up.
Also did your phone came with wrap on frame? Mine didn't. I bought from Samsung app a month ago.
Why are you so worried about 35°?
Its normal.
I reside in India and the phone is made in India. I wonder how you got Made in Korea. Where did you purchase your phone from?
No, my phone didn't come with wrap up frame.
Yup. 35° is fine. On my other device even if the the temp goes up to 37° it's still cool. But on this device I have seen phone heating up even at 35°. So, yes, it's a concern for me. I also know may be becuae of the processor or battery it's happening. But that should not happen in the first place as you said it's not happening with your device.
May be we can catch up sometime as I am from the same city, you are from.

Bought S22 plus by exchanging S20 plus on Samsung Shop.(app)
I'm actually from Warangal. Are you sure it's made in India?
Maybe thats why the discounted price, bcoz of the less tax.
I got my S22+ by exchanging my S21FE about a month back, on the back of the box it says Made in Korea and it has never heated I use the Dev check app to monitor for thermals and after prolonged phone calls or video calls or even binge watching movies on OTT, the max I have ever seen is 36-37 degrees

I remember the threads about the HTC One M9 "overheating" because of how the SD810 was designed (actually normal temperatures for that specific SOC). People were drenching the SOC in non-conductive thermal paste. It actually kinda worked.
You can't really do anything about it. The bigger problem is that the S22 is both poorly optimized and overheating.
Just as a simple benchmark test (not taking in consideration the Exynos version, becuase it's so far left behind it doesn't even matter anymore) of some SD 8g1 phones.

"We start doubting our decision on whether the correct decision was made or not about purchasing the phone."
No, it really wasn't. It's an overpriced phone that they didn't even bother to properly optimize. In terms of performance it's a whole mid range phone behind the competition.
I don't like to be so negative, but there isn't anything positive to say. I like my Note 9, but it's clear that it's missing some basic features that other phones have by default.
Update - My phone was at the service center for close to 4 days for observation. They recorded 30 mins video and the phone temp went up to 40° via the heat gun. This time the phone was not that hot even at 40°. What the manager said is that if the phone hits 47°+ then probably there is a scope of exchange.
I didn't argue much as everything seemed to be normal when they even checked the phone via some tool they had.
Have been using the phone for 2 days now and it ok now. Not much of heating.
And yeah, Battery is also fine.
Note: I am not a heavy phone user. Hardly plays any game. Uses phone for routine calls and some photography.

My S20 plus had green line issue.
Service center denied free display replacement.
Lodged a complaint in consumer court and Samsung CEO help desk.
Samsung gave my phone new screen with frame at a cost of 700₹ labor charge.
I immediately checked for exchange on Amazon, Flipkart and did't find good deals.
Checked Samsung site. There was an exchange offer until August 31.
Grabbed the deal.

Don't believe the numbers from benchmark apps. Some leading phone manufactures are making the phone to perform without throttling when benchmark apps like Antutu or Geekbench etc. are run. This was proved and accepted by few manufactures. My S22+ heated only once and shown a message "your phone is too hot. let it cool down before using multi window again" and the multi window has been closed. That time I was playing a high end game along with using google meet video call opened in PIP. battery was decent I can say. I play games a lot

Yes, Samsung is known to boost performance when it detects benchmarking apps. A developer working at Citra made a build which makes Android think it's actually running Antutu.
Even so, even with the benhc boost, Samsung is still scoring far lower in benchmarks. Samsung is doing the same thing as everybody else and still failing at doing it properly.

I have purchased s22 plus from an official samsung store in India. I had some heating concerns but I went with it because the experience was awesome. I have not faced any heating issue what so ever. Phone do tend to get heated occasionally and many factors are involved including the surrounding temperature. I had an Iphone 12, that would also get a bit hot while charging. Nothing to report in this case, my unit is working fine.
May be they have worked on the optimization. Battery life is also fine thanks to Snapdragon although 8 gen1 is still not as efficient as some previous iterations but still much better than what I had faced with Exynos. The phone has a large excellent display that will take a but more battery of course as compared to a smaller phone but even with 120hz, it is taking me through the whole day easily. Second 50 percent of the battery percentage is where phone pulls up better screen on time.
There is no way to make the s22+ not heat. At least the units sold in India. Gaming or using camera for more than 5 mins will make it heat up. No matter what you do. I got the phone in BBD sale. Got it exchanged from flipkart too and the second unit also had heating issues. Luckily I am a business user to I don't spend much time playing games or camera, so the issue is barely noticeable in day to day usage to me. But if I go out on a weekend trip, where I will take lots of pics and videos, I know this phone is going to get hot and loose a lot of battery. So I carry powerbank for the situation. Before this I was using Realme GT Neo 2 and that phone never heated up even if video in 4k was recorded for 30 mins straight. I never felt the need to carry powerbank with me too plus realme had 67w fast charging. I just bought this phone cause of samsung name
