From Canada using the unbranded Canadian (North American) region firmware (4.4.4 stock).
My question is, will I run into any issues if I flash a rooted Rom of 4.4.4 (I believe the two roms available are both based off the RUssian region firmware)?
Or are all regions essentially the same apart from apn settings, etc?
Should I wait until someone builds a 4.4.4 rooted flashable zip based off the north American region firmware?
Any info is appreciated. Thanks in advance

Bootloader is locked, but is unlockable. I've already backed up my ta partition when I rooted 314, but prefer to keep my bootloader locked anyways. At least until my 1 year warranty runs out through Sony.

Upgrading to 4.4.4 on LB from 314
1. Flash 4.4.4 Rom Of your choice
2. Flash superSU just incase
~You can try flashing Nut's dual recovery (not sure if it works)
3. Use flashtool to Flash a 4.4.4 FTF excluding system.sin
I'm already on 167 stock though. I updated through pcc. So I guess I have to downgrade to 314 in order to root and flash a recovery.

Made my own pre-rooted flashable zip. It's 167 stock, but with root. There's a guide on here how to do it. Very simple and works great!
Flash via ODIN.
This package has the hidden.img file, removed from the firmware, so it should give you no error.
Just flash and enjoy it.

It's the Lollipop version for the nordic countries. Much more stable.
No, it will not trigger KNOX. Do not flash a custom recovery, that will trigger KNOX.
It's safe to flash. Go for it.
Yes, it's official Samsung firmware.

So far so good. I'm using it and there is no draining issue. I also did a factory reset after installing this firmware.

I read in another forum that when we flash a rom without the hidden image, the modem is not updating and we have to :
a) extract the rom and find modem.bin
b) open odin and flash modem.bin in the CP section of odin.
Can someone verify that this is true?

Not true.
I thought I would flash this to see if this fixes the wireless charging problem, but it does not. At present, on Lollipop the phone does not fully charge via Qi. Only charges upto 69%.
Is there a way to root this version?
why is this version 2GB when most i see are ~1.3

This is Lollipop Official Stock Firmware. I checked the Nordic, German, French and Romanian versions...they all have over 2GB.
So it's all ok, relax.
Has anyone tried flashing 7.0 firmware for RetLA phones on a RetMX phone with everything working and accepting OTAs?
Why bother? Retmx and retla both have 7.0.

I have this weird issue:
Was in retMX firmware, but flashed OTA and stuff, so since I don't have a backup, I was trying to get it back to stock, and when flashing the boot.img it won't accept it, so I believe that the firmware was updated with the OTA and won't work with an older boot.img, so the only way to boot is flashing TurboKernel, and the phone boots and works fine; the problem is that that stock firmware needs the OTA that fixes the low volume issue, but it won't update cause the custom boot.img (TurboKernel).
So I have this theory that the Retla firmware since is newer might work well with the firmware that was installed by the OTA of retMX.
Sorry if i mislead something but English ain't my born language.

Any suggestion related to patch cert?
I got a customer who wants to downgrade from Android 10 to 8. I know Samsung has anti-downgrade protection and you can't flash older firmware using Odin.
What about rooting the phone first though and flashing the Android 8 firmware using TWRP? Wouldn't that work?

My phone is already rooted and do you have any guide how can I flash complete firmware through twrp with bootloader. Actual problem is bootloader which can't initialize previous version of modem. I have downgraded modem but it does not pick IMEI.

You'd have to flash system, vendor and a kernel that can run Android 8. Just flashing the firmware straight up won't work

I mean, I've done it on other Samsung phones, yes. Updated officially to Pie and then flashed an Oreo ROM that includes system, vendor and kernel images and it runs fine.

I don't need to downgrade bootloader, just need to flash the ROM which includes system, vendor and a working kernel.
I'm speaking strictly about running Android 8, not downgrading. So this method of downgrading to Oreo probably won't help you on your problem
Can we do it with firmware combination file or eng modem?

I guess we both having same issue. I upgraded to UAETG3 and the mobile signals were gone. IMEI status is 'NG' and it says emergency calls only. The binary of aforesaid update is higher and it won't let me downgrade. Have you found a solution?

I recently installed the EU variant of the first Open Beta of OxygenOS 13 on my 10T and I'm wondering if I can rollback from EU OOS 13 Beta to GLOBAL OOS 12? Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks!
you can flash the global firmware back using flashtool, just make sure the modem version is same with your current ROM or else your IMEI will be wiped

you have to rollback updates using flashtool since OTA updates prohibit you to install previous version of your software, the only way to do this as far as i know is to get the global stock firmware for your particular model and flash it using flashtool
