Let's collect any kind of mods that are working on aosp- based roms.
Therefore I need you to tell me what mods you tried, which rom you are running and of course what your results have been.
Even better if you could give some directions on how to make something work.
I'll try to get some kind of list for testing, make a compatibility list for different ROMs and maintain this thread.
Disclaimer:
These pieces of information are given as is. There is no guaranty that any of these modifications do really work on any of your roms. Neither I, nor the developer of your rom, nor anybody who is providing information and giving advices is responsible for what you do with your devices. Furthermore make sure not to report any bug regarding your rom without making sure it's not caused by any mod you might have installed.

You should put the title and then the link not the link and then the title cause its kinda confuseing and also the qcae one is not working on one x+ on aokp (or was not in an older aokp release) and i think it wont work on non xperia phones, also you put raccoon audio and that is not really much of a sound mod, and also you should have put the great ones like the xperia walkmans and megabass: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2074977 will test all things i can as long as i dont need to test sound mods cause acid v7 is working good enought for me.
EDIT: Also as far as I can tell that is not the latest BRAVIA ENGINE 2 zip out there, and also that one is specificall to the galaxy mini as far as I can tell so it won't work on the hox+
EDIT2: The lockscreen thing is not AOSP but for the xperia z only stock rom
I must admit right now it's just a result of some skimming I did. Will surely take a closer look at the links and tidy everything up a good bit as soon as I have time for that

EDIT: Acid v7 steps are totally wrong....
Here are the right ones:
1)First as always make a backup
2)Download and flash [AOSP3]AC!D_Audio_Engine_v7build_2802.zip then [AOSP3]AC!D_Audio_Engine_v7build_2805.zip and then ClearAudio+TEAM AC!D.zip
3)Wipe dalvik cache and cache
4)Fix permissions in recovery and reboot to system
5)In terminal emulator type:
Code:
su
aaengine
If this worked skip to step 7 If it gave an error continue:
6)Exit terminal and rerun it and write in it:
Code:
su
mount -o remount,rw /system
aaengine
7)Reboot and if after 2 mins your system crashes in bootloop force reboot
8)Uninstall MusicFX using an root uninstaller or titanium backup or delete MusicFX.apk from /system/app
9)Reboot
10)Install SRSPanel
11)Enjoy
OK I forgot read/write access but that's it. No need for the first run of aaenging on a read only system partition so why not directly remount rw and do it right?
And as you said the bootloop and freezes might be special to your setup, I didn't get them.

For me the system is automatically mounted as rw somehow, i think, or that script mounts it, didn't yet read it, so I'm not sure the mount command is needed.
As far as system is already rw its not needed but it doesn't hurt either. And it makes the giude easier to follow. Will take a look this evening at the theming engine and mega bass.

Still testing in acid, xposed, and others. For now it seems like acid needs a fresh install as a base to run without hiccups. Did you flash it in fresh install or "dirty flash"?

I did a dirty flash and also was having installed lots of mods (samsung galaxy s3 launcher, camera with photosphere, etc) and it works perfectly for me, perhaps you have some apps or mods that can't go good with acid, it happened to me also, try not to use any sound boosters or other equalizers.
Any more to go to the list?? If this gets nice and full I'll link it in my AOSP thread

I'm using an ATT Samsung Mega with Android 4.2.2 and Maps 7.0.2. It won't let me use "Classic Maps" like in earlier versions.
Is there a way to get back? APK install? HELP!
Google http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439538 and look how u can remove maps from the market. A option for this is in titanium backup.

Reodex your KitKat from CWM
Script work only for S3 mini
Unpack zip to PC
Reboot to CWM
Plug in USB to PC
Go to Mounts and Storage
- mount /system
- mount /data
Start odex.cmd from PC
Wait it finish
Reboot your phone
What is Reodex? Thanks in advance.
Gesendet von meinem GT-I8190 mit Tapatalk
Reodexing
Reodexing is creating *.odex files on deodex'ed ROM
About differences between odex'ed and deodex'ed roms you can read for example here

Great. Thanks again.

That means that the odex.zip only use for devs. I have an deodexed ROM, also I don't need this.
Gesendet von meinem GT-I8190 mit Tapatalk
Another explanation is this:
If you odex the rom, you'll have also more space in data (this is important because if you don't have partition ext4 in sdcard, you won't have too free space), increase battery life, more stability and increase perfomance( the Rom is more faster to load system and app) but you can't modifie apk after odex (you can't mod program with classes.dex).
Infact ODEX is an OPTIMIZED-DEX and Android load system and app faster than deodexed (DEOPTIMIZED-DEX) app and system.
When you have a deodex file (a lot of roms are deodexed) you have File.apk in system/app and in data/dalvik-cache/[email protected]@[email protected], but with odex file you have File.apk in system/app and File.odex in system/app
With these explanation you can understand that:
Odexed Rom = +fast -difficult_customization +more_battery_life +better_stability +less_ram_utilization
Deodexed Rom = -slow +customization -less_battery_life -less_stability -worse_ram_manager
does it only work for 4.4 or for stock 4.1.2 too?

I did not try yet... scared a little - and looking for a way to make my theme.apk to theme.zip to flash. Anyway, did you boot your device into recovery befor conecting? As written in OP you should mount system and data from there.
The drivers needed you should have, cause you are alresdy at carbon...

Perhaps because of Maclaws TWRP... Try with CWM, I'm pretty sure it is to find at google...
Edit: You need to install Rom Manager to download cwm...

Hey guys,
I'm searching for a solution to swap external sd to internal. I had to break the internal storage to make a I9003 working again.
Now, it boots the ROM from the external (but that's an other story).
Camera needs storage0 (internal storage) to work properly for DCIM. But I have only storage1 (inserted microsd).
In 2.3.6 swap sd was possible by editing vold.fstab. In Kitkat the opportunity has been denied.
I search for a way to make storage1 to storage0 in CM11. Does anyone have an idea? Do you know whether CyanogenMod is working on it?
Thanks ^^
Still no idea?

Since android 4.3 there no longer exist "vold.fstab"
U need to modify build.prop
go to /system/build.prop (via root explorer for instance)
and change
persist.sys.vold.switchexternal=0
to
persist.sys.vold.switchexternal=1
save it and reboot the device it may help

My i9001 has still a build from 21.03. synced. It's unofficial. The steps are big, not like nightlies, and that's great ^^
The i9003 of the friend is in his apartment. The build for the i9003 has some bugs, so I'll wait.
But the others here can share their results with the newest builds
The i9003 has cm working on (the only available one for this device) and I have PA 4.3.
So cm-related infos are welcomed

Hi @rboy28, I'm facing pretty much the same issue as you on a Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 with damaged internal SD card.
I'm managed to install and run CyanogenMod 11 after physically taking the faulty chip out of the device, but I now need to make it use the external SD card as the internal one.
Have you had any luck ?

man why they have to keep changing stuff. i spent days on this issue.
this is why android is having difficulty capturing the market from iphones.
2017, and i also getting this same problem with GT-P1000..
remove damaged internal storage, installed KK resurrection remix ROM on external storage..
-camera error "no external storage"
-browser error "can't download, no external storage"
-UMS no response (it worked on gingerbread before)
tinkerin' for 6 days, slept only at 7AM..
my eyes hurt (almost cryin' desperately too) from searching n tryin' n so on..
if only there's an angel with master linux degree, kindly enough to ease our 'fellow-pity-ship' misery..
You're not the only one…
Hi,
I tried for month to resurrect a tablet having the same problem.
My latest findings pointed to modifying the equivalent of the /etc/fstab file in the boot partition/image, but no tool I could find was able to open/modify the ROM image…
I eventually gave up and returned the tablet to its owner.
Hey,
since Android 5 i've missed the NFC ScreenOff Xposed Module. Looks like the developer doesn't work on this anymore. Nevertheless XlAfbk created a little workaround to use NFC while the screen is off. So thank him for his nice work I've only created the apk for our Z3C.
The apk is created for the FW 23.1.A.1.28. Maybe other FW will work too. Feel free to test and report your results here back.
Installation:
Make a nandroid backup! If you dont and something bad happens, your phone will be nearly unuseable because NfcNci.apk will FC continuously. So be sure you've made a backup.
Copy the file NfcNci.apk to /system/app/NfcNci/ and overwrite the existing file
Delete also the "arm" folder in /system/app/NfcNci/. Do not just rename it.
Reboot
Regards
hasenbolle
Moved from Apps & Games
A lot of thanks to you and XlAfbk!
Works as expected on Z3C [23.1.A.1.28].
One thing here. I was trying it yesterday, when there was no installation instruction. So I was trying so hard installing it, as the result I've got broken system
And only then I figured out to use XlAfbk's original post as reference...
Many thanks for your XlAfbk's mastermind and your hard work! :good:
Rights
Used ES File Explorer to replace the NfcNci.apk and deleted the arm folder. Unfortunately, ES File Explorer did not give execution rights to the NfcNci.apk and my phone did not start properly. Giving execution rights to Owner, Group and Other solved the problem after a reboot.
Thanks for the apk!
working! even without deleting the arm folder
N00b
Ok so I'm totally new to this way of interacting with my phone.
I installed ADB and the proper drivers. I can get "on" my device. I could copy the NfcNci file from the phone to my pc.
But when trying to copy (push) the modded file it says "Read-only file system".
I tried to find out how to change that but I read about a lot of commands like mount, so I'm not sure if that's correct and safe.
Can anyone help me out here?
And BTW does the device need to be rooted (is that what you call it?) to copy this new modded file to it?
Thanks already!
Thanks for this, works like a charm
Hey everybody,
is there any chance to create this awesome Mod for the new Xperia Firmware 23.4.A.0.546?
With the current update it won't work anymore.
I have tried to modify the apk but without success.
Thanks' a lot.

Heres a modified NfcNci.apk I compiled with the NFC screen off polling enabled. Its based on the NfcNci.apk I pulled from the .546 Xperia Z3 rom, which I think is the same as the compact. Tested with moonbreakers custom rom and stock, and it works.
https://www.mediafire.com/?s8dx4dtrd8vsu2t
just rename it to "NfcNci.apk" and copy into /system/app/NfcNci, then fix permissions to 644 (-rw-r--r--)
of course, goes without saying, backup your rom using recovery first
If it doesn't work, if someone sends me an NfcNci.apk from a z3 compact rom, I can recompile it with the mods also
Thank you very much 'tonysunshine'

Is it also for z3c with lollipop 5.1.1 5803? Thanks

Thanks for the modd, it work great on mine too.
I would like to know if it's possible to have this kind of modd but only for a detection on the screenlock and not always when screen is off ?
Thanks
Tonysunshine, I confirm modified NfcNci.apk works fine on the .546 Xperia Z3c.
