Hey, I hope I can get some help here. I'm a total noob and I don't know if other similar threads apply to me. Anyway, I have a rooted Xperia Neo V, with ICS 4.0.3 and I used ROM Manager app to casually flash the "Xperia Pureness" ROM I downloaded. I didn't do a full wipe because I was too stupid to look at the instructions. Is this fixable?

Thank you. At some point the instructions require that I enter *#06# on my phone but I can't boot, it gets stuck at the Sony logo. Is this step necessary?
as can be interpreted u have a unlocked bootloader( i guess that's right)
you can try to use Sony Ericssion Update service to restore your phone to ICS
read this 1. http://communities-origin.sonyericsson.com/message/176189
and this 2.http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/30938
see if it helps
I used SEUS to install stock rom . Now its working but all apps are gone.
so i can install any custom rom? Also did this happen because i didnt wipe dalvik cache bfore installing the rom.

Ya ..you can install custom ROMS now i hope u hv boot loader unlocked ..head over to the Neov development section and download the ROM you want ..Follow the instructions really carefully while installing ROMS
And the answer of your second question is NO. When installing stock ROM or repairing it all apps and setting are gone nothing to do with wipe dalvik cache
Problem persists
So i tried installing pureness once more, this time i made sure i wiped davik cache. Same problem stuck at SONY and so had to revert to stock once more. I havent unlocked BL yet. Is it necessary for installing Pureness. Also can somebody tell me if i am doing it right.
1) used flash tool to downgrade to .562
2)rooted using Doomlords tool
3)Used flash tool to upgrade back to .431
4)Installed cwm auto installer apk from google play
5)Installed cwm
6)Booted into recovery
7)Made a backup
8)Used install from zip option to install Pureness
9) reboot and its stuck
Cant even access cwm since its stuck at that point , so i cant use the backup also right.
First, flash a specific kernel for that ROM.. Look for the link for kernels in the above post!
Flash the kernel first.. Reboot into recovery... Wipe data, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache... And then install zip from sd card!
Reboot your phone! You'll be done now!
flashing kernel
I am guessing for flashing the kernel , i have to unlock bootloader.
You didn't unlock your bootloader?!
You definitely can't flash a custom kernel without unlocking it!
I suggest you go with the official Sony's way..
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
BL
but that will void my warranty right and i will no longer be able to use SEUS for reveting to stock.
Yea.. That would void your warranty!
But unlocking the bootloader will allow to install custom ROMs which shall be very fast and smooth as compared to the stock one... and I don't think you'll revert back to stock!
Though relocking can be done but you won't be able to update your phone through over the air updates!
It's your choice!
1. Unlock bootloader using sony's,
Method
2. Flash the custom kernel
3. Get into CWM
4.wipe delvic/data/battery stat
5. Install custom rom
6. Install gapps(if necessary)
7.wipe delvic
8. Reboot
That are common steps
Also use the recommended kernel by the developer
Also follow his instruction...if in doubt serch if still confused post here

Mods ftw
I dont want to unlock bootloader now. Presently having fun with different mods . Once i get tired of them , will try unlocking. Please suggest some useful mods.Currently installed Romcontrol by jjdoctor and walkman for ICS by thilinac.

- backup in CWM
- reboot into recovery [power button then repeatedly press volume up]

so.. got any idea or solution? thx in advance...
Hello People.. i Joined XDa like 1 or 2 months ago.. i installed some roms and discovered why i get some random bootloops when installing a rom.. (if you done all ok and you get a bootloop follow this steps)
-Wipe Data --> Yes
-Wipe cache --> Yes
*Mounts and Storage* Format System --> Yes
*Advanced* Wipe Dalvik Cache --> Yes
Now Flash the ROM.. if The ROM have a CWM SuperSu Fix in Addons Flash it Without Rebooting! then Reboot.. after you boot to Home... complete Wizard and reboot again (not to CWM)
Now Install CWM (if u have locked bl now u dont have anymore CWM recovery.. so install it using the app called x-parts)
Boot to CWM and install add ons 1 by 1.. (for example.. Lockscreen, then reboot.. then flashlight, reboot.. camera fix, reboot.. etc..)
This way is needed in roms Like HyperBeamNewEra or HyperBeamNewTime (because khemaras told to flash lockscreen after rom and that cause many bootloops! if u check out last comments of NewTime all of them say Bootloops at LWW.. and i tried this way and i got no bootloop at locked bl.)
Hope you enjoyed the Post!

I was having problem installing some roms but as i was not formatting the system....thanks for this thread...now they work like charm....pressed thanks
I wouldn't recommend to format system before installing a rom:
1. Formatting system should be defined in the updater-script, so there's no need to do it manually
2. Formatting system can cause a status 7 (?) error, because of a getprop line. It tries to get the device's information, but because of formatting system it can't read the information and you get an error.
I would just format system, if it's necessary according to the thread of the rom :good:
So as Wifi was not working on my Xperia u for team canjica's cm 10.+
I decided to install Miui5. but i did a stupid move, without copying the .zip of miui, i went into cvm and format /system, clear data, clear cache, clear dalvik cache, and tried to reboot but nothing happened.
So i went into choose zip from sdcard, and cm10.1.zip was there, but when I tried to install it i got an error saying
E: Error in /sdcard/cm10.1..*big name* kumquat.zip
And the installation aborted.
Now i cant startup my phone, cant flash anyother ram, im pretty scared.. what should i do? Please Help me..
You can flash stock sony rom using flashtool.
So i enter in flash mode and flash generic ftf ?
Before you flash you should do a backup, I am sure you will next time :d
Yes just flash FTF preferrably one you flashed before.
Yes, that's the way.
Hello
After flashing TWRP (twrp-umi-3.4.0-2.img - Team Win Recovery Project) with and without Formatting Data, which anyways triggers some errors (see picture), clicking on Install I am shown /sdcard folder, and when I go up one level I see a bunch of folders but not Internal Storage. So I am unable to use TWRP.
I had identical results using twrp_umi.img also.
USB OTG is not working.
Please help. I have no idea what to do next.

Thanks for your suggestion, but the closest I can get is TWRP-3.4.1B-0218. Where did you find the twrp 3.4.1b-0313 version? And did you format data or not?

yes i format data
I found it, and tomorrow I'll try it. Many thanks.
Sorry to disturb you again, but I read contrasting procedures on how to flash a ROM, on MI 10.
Some say:
- flash TWRP
- format data
- flash ROM.
Others say:
- flash TWRP
- flash ROM
- format data.
Some more:
- flash TWRP
- wipe dalvik and cache (no need to format data anymore)
- flash ROM.
What did you do exactly?
BTW do you know the TWRP psw?
Many thanks for your support.

twrp pasw 152v
format data
reboot recovery
connect phone to pc
put zip file ro phone
wipe cache an dalvik cache
install zip

go to reboot
power off the phone
now wen its shut down power it on
an it shut boot
it will take a litle time
I tried many version of wzsx150’s TWRP, the latest being 3.4.1b-0313, but the result is always the same (whether fastboot flash recovery twrp_umi.img or fastboot boot twrp_umi.img).
If I format data there are errors (first picture). If I go directly to install (with or without wipe dalvik and cache) I am anyway unable to see the folders of Internal Storage (second picture). So the TWRP is useless and I am stack with a China ROM device, which is not my first desire.
BTW password is incorrect (third picture), though I doubt it has something to do with the shortcomings.
Please I need a thoughtful help.:crying:
Here the forgotten pictures.
the passwd for decryption
is the one u hade to unlock ur phone before u try flashing it
Whether I use the psw for decrypting (Mount/Decrypt Data) or right at the start, it is always refused. I don’t know if this is the reason why in Install the /sdcard folder has only 0 and TWRP subfolders, or not. In any case there is no way I can flash a thing.

I don't understand what you mean. Anyway I did the bare basic of setting on the stock China ROM. No fingerprint, no PIN, no Pattern, no Password or any other lock. In Developer options USB debugging is ON.

And if I try to wipe I get the error: failed to mount '/data' (see pciture).

I have a Sony Xperia XZ Premium and i decided to enter the world of tinkering with my device. I successfully unlocked by bootloader, installed TWRP but as i was figuring out how it all worked something went wrong. i can no longer boot into my device (its stuck on the sony/carrier boot screen) and i belive that i may have completely removed by OS from my device. A website told me that i should to something with changing the file system and i think that has something to do with it. I have tries re-installing a stock rom but i cant seem to get it to work (I am noob). When i try to flash the zip it says 'invalid zip file format!' i really dont know what to do. Any help would be grealty appreciated as this is my only phone. I dont care if it has to be reset to factory settings.
THANK YOU.

First, let's start with the small stuff, just in case. Try booting into TWRP and select the Wipe option, then select advanced wipes, then choose only the cache partition and the dalvik cache partition, DO NOT choose any other partitions, after choosing cache and dalvik cache, swipe the slidee at the bottom to run the wipes, then reboot the device.
The stock .zip that you tried to flash probably isn't made for flashing via TWRP. It is probably meant for extracting the .zip to get the flashable form of your stock firmware and then flashing that firmware using your device's specific flashing tool on PC. Flashing the firmware will remove TWRP. After you get the firmware flashed and you get the device working again, you will have to reinstall TWRP the same way you did the first time. When you get TWRP reinstalled, immediately use the Backup option in TWRP to create a backup of everything on your device(do not include internal storage in the backup). Store that backup on your external sdcard and/or on your PC. Do this BEFORE you attempt any kind of modification ms to the device. This backup can be used to restore your device if you mess it up again.
After creating the backup and storing it in a safe place, then you can try making the modifications that you were originally trying to do.

Your phone's Android 7 has neither a Dalvik cache nor an ART cache. TWRP is misleading in this respect.
Try to re-flash phone's Stock ROM ( Android 7 ) by means of Sony Xperia Flash Tool.

Yes I managed to do this. The only problem now is that my phone is on Android 7. Before it was on Android 9. I've went to the software update section on the phone but there's no update available. Will I have to flash an android 9 ROM to get the update or will it eventually come to my phone
Thanks
@jakessavage
Moving from one Android version ( e.g. 7 ) to another one ( e.g. 9 ) istn't an update but an upgrade.
Don't think your phone's OEM/Carrier automatically supply an upgrade, but only updates if recognized to be necessary.
IMHO in case of Android 9 for your phone is not provided by OEM/Carrier, you have to flash a Custom ROM based on Android 9.
