[Guide] Rooting Xperia M4 Aqua - Sony Xperia M4 Aqua

Hello,
Since I had some troubles rooting my Xperia M4 Aqua the other day, I made a video tutorial on how to root it, because it was kinda hard for a newbie like me to root it with the help of other posts on the forums. The tutorial is a step by step tutorial, and I hope it will help newbies like me to root their phone.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHAcze1T4sQ
And for those who would rather root their phone via the textual step by step tutorial, here it is:
1. Go to settings on your phone >about phone>build version and tap the ''build version'' couple of times till you don't get a message saying you're now a developer.
2. Go to developer options>USB debugging and check that.
3. Download these files on your computer desktop:
adb-setup: http://www.mediafire.com/download/kby09bi319h4gvi/adb-setup-1.3.exe
Xperia rootkit: http://www.mediafire.com/download/awrsi78ddjl0x2r/rootkitXperia_E23xx_26.1.X.3.xxx.zip
4. When you have downloaded those files, open adb-setup and install it. Type ''Y'' on every row.
5. Unzip the rootkit folder, and just copy the whole folder (not what's inside the folder, you must copy the whole folder) and paste it to local disk C in the ''adb'' folder.
6. Now plug your Xperia M4 Aqua in the USB which is connected to your PC, and click ''OK'' when a window pops out on your phone for USB debugging.
7. Now, open the ''adb'' folder, and then the rootkit folder and click on the file ''install.bat''
8. Wait for the installing process to be done, your phone will restart once, and when it turns on, just click enter on the cmd windows, and that's it.
Your Xperia M4 Aqua is now rooted. Enjoy.

You don't need to unlock the bootlader, if you want to root your phone. Also you can install TWRP recovery on locked bootloader.

I am at step Install.bat and the CMD windows is stuck at daemon started succsessfuly.

Just download and install ADB in your PC and update your drivers in ADB
http://developer.android.com/tools/help/adb.html
This should solve it.
Make sure Tethering is ON in settings> Development
And a short cut is install Sony PC Companion and it will also install drivers for your phone!
This should work !
Good Luck

Then you will need to make sure that PC companion isnot working in the background. You can check it in the taskbar.
Plus install the SDK with its driver if that doesnot work.
Make sure you are running as Administrator.

To unlock your bootloader you will need to get that from SONY website only
I mean, SONY will send you a code and then you can unlock your bootloader.
I will send you the link.

The SDK i am using is about 420 MB in zip file and goes over 850 MB. So we are using different versions.
Secondly, When you open ADB, it asks you to update tools. There must be UPDATE DRIVERS. Install that and it should work. Make sure you run as administrator. I havenot seen any attachment with your post!
I downloaded it from here. 32 bit . Use according to your motherboard.
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Also, to flash your rom, you must have FTF file of STOCK. And your Sony PC companion shouldnot be running in the background.
I am attaching a file. You can easily tick the drivers you need to install as seen in the image.
You do not need to unlock your bootloader to flash STOCK rom, however, to install most of custom roms, You will need to unlock the bootloader.

Did you install drivers in your PC ?
It is in Drivers folder of flashtool
Volume down and plug USB if flashtool is telling you to plug in your phone..
Then Green LED will appear on your phone and it will off if it is started flashing firmware..
You have some steps that are wrongly following I think..
Try again..
Okay i installed driver still nothing.

[Q] Xperia P fastboot Troubleshooting

Hello and good morning!
I know this shouldn't have been my first post and i'm most likely to break a forum's rule but i really need help.
First of all, I have to tell that I'm a complete noob in "rooting" and "unlocking bootloader" etc.
Yesterday, as i was following Dewanshu93's guide for Rooting/Unlocking Bootloader/Nandroid Backup//CWM/Flashtool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-u/p-development/starters-guide-help-newbies-flashtool-t2107775), fastbooting my Xperia P to unlock bootloader was a total disaster. At first everything was ok. The phone was connected and Windows started installing some driver called "S1 Fastboot" (something like that) but it failed. Since then, every single try i make to fastboot ends to my Xperia P being charged.
Battery was up to 55%.
I am using JB 4.1.2,
Build Number is 6.2.A.1.100 ( followed DoomLoRD's guide to root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-u/p-development/p-doomlord-easy-rooting-toolkit-v17-t2335992
Phone is rooted using the guide listed above
Bootloader CAN be unlocked
I have installed Android SDK
I searched the forums for a while but didn't find anything to count on. Hope you guys can help me or give me an alternative.
Sorry for the inconvenience

You only need to unlock bootloader if you want to install custom kernels, To use DooMLorRD's easy rooting kit you don't need to unlock bootloader.
And there is no need for no file what so ever.
Before you continue, try to connect the phone at flash mode(volume down while connecting to USB) and fastboot mode(volume up), the phone must be turned off of course.
Open flash tool while you do it, flash mode should stay connected for about 45 seconds, fastboot im not sure but I think it's indefinately.
Unless you can have flashmode stay connected for more than few seconds, do not root or unlock your bootloader, this is the key for recovery, and you don't want to mess up with your phone unless you are sure you can recover.

I will say it once again and no more, if you brick your phone ehich will happen sooner or later you will regrate it dearly if you don't have flash mode functional.
Did you install flash and fastboot mode drivers that come with flashtool?
Which OS are you using?
There is no need to continue holding down volume down key, only while connecting, it won't help keeping it in flash mode once established.

First of all, thanks for your patience. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Also, i have installed Fastboot, Flashmode, and Xperia P/U/Sola drivers from flashtool as suggested. When i connect my device to flashtool as "Flash Mode" it seems to be properly working and expects me to flash it. I suppose that the file i am desperately looking and i can't find is to flash my Xperia P.. Guide says to put that file in C:/Flashtool/Firmware. The only file that's already in that folder is "X10_V1_BLRelock.ftf". I don't doubt the guide's decency and as i can assume from the comments below it is a great guide.
You don't neet any file to unlock your bootloader, just go to Sony's site, get your unlock code, click the BLU button in flashtool and follow the instructions.

Mate, you're very kind, but even after installing it, when I run the install.bat to root my phone, it gets stuck at "daemon started successfully". Then it does nothing, no prompts on phone either.

You enable USB Debugging
Yes, but for some reason I have not got the prompt on my phone asking for allowing it on my PC until now. I installed some adb drivers on PC then rebooted then got the prompt so maybe it was a drivers issue.
Anyway, what I did for rooting my E2333... I downgraded to 27.1.B.1.85 with xperifirm (for downloading the firmware) and flashtool (for flashing it). On xperifirm choose to download the firmware for commercial and journalists, then flashtool is very straight forward, if you need help look for a guide, and remember that when you connect the phone to PC it has to be turned off and you have to hold the "volume down" button while you insert the usb cable on PC. Flashtool will ask something about a fsc thing or something while flashing, just say yes. The first boot will take a while.
Then just use the rootkit provided by Bolek PL. remember to activate debug usb.

Error device is unchanged UEGetphoneinfo UE_1200

Error update marshmallow on my Sony Xperia E2363 using Xperia companion, error ' UEGetphoneinfo UE1200'
Help me to solve the problem. Thank you
I think you need unlocked bootloader.
See this link (http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/) for the Sony Mobile official guide.
Then download Xperia Flashtool (http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php), Flashtool Xperia Drivers (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2635830) and the 6.0.1 TFT update file for your phone (https://yadi.sk/d/NlXnOL8TtRnNA).
Then, Flash it using FlashTool (see this video for a summative guide https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvBnwF8YjXc).
It will take some time, but it's very easy.
