3 months no protection/no scratches.
Is the camera cover made of gorrila glass as well? That's the bit I am worry about since I can't find a screen protector for it.

It is not, when I had to send in my replacement phone I took a nail to it, the front was fine, no scratch, the camera plastic did get scratched. So be careful.

I us the ZAGG screen protector its like stab proof and whatnot. I love it. Been using it since my first smartphone. They can get somewhat pricey depending where you buy them i usually buy them at radio shack and have them put it on for me. I asked an actual zagg person if they have any for the camera and they said no something along the lines of the flash reflecting off the plastic and into the camera. its believable..
If you think you are even remotely likely to drop your phone or accidentally have something rub up against it I would recommend you just get one. I have a ZAGG and it is great so far. I figure if you are going to be carrying around something so expensive that you may as well have it protected.
Screen protectors are relatively cheap. I've read enough stories of even GG phones getting scratched in pockets, that I prefer to be safe than have to fork out for a new screen or deal with scratches, Gorilla-glass or not.
I have a Clear-Coat on both mine and my wife's E3Ds. Works great, reduces fingerprints and smudges, and you don't even notice it's there.
What about those dual cameras on the back.....is there a scratchguard available for the back....

I am looking to find the most high quality option when it comes to screen protectors for the Ultra.
I have tried the Muvit protector - but it isn't the best quality I've seen - and it got a little scratch in the application process.
I was wondering if anyone has tried the Stealth Extreme R from Armorz without having first taken off the shatter proof film?
Wondering how it fits on the device, how it affects the weight - and generally how high quality the protector actually is and if it is worth the extra $50.
I am not interested in trying to remove the shatter proof film after reading people's experiences.
Not sure if it'll help you, but there are quite a number of "reviews" on it on Youtube.

I have the Armorz Stealth Extreme R tempered glass protector. Its actually pretty good quality. If you have never put on a glass screen protector before, it might be a little tricky. I put mine on without water, and paid the price when trying to reposition it. the bottom corner is lifted from when i tried to pry it up and move it. I did apply a back glass using the water method, and it took longer to get the bubbles completely out, but came out pretty clean.
I did not remove the anti shatter film on either side, and have not seen any loss in touch sensitivity.
one thing i did notice is that, it added a little bit of weight, but also gave the phone better rigidity when used without the case. some people have mentioned the phone twisting in their pocket, and i have yet to experience any twisting whats so ever.
not sure if the price has gone up, but i ordered mine for 39$ on amazon. hope this helps.

Thanks a lot for the insight!
So why do you think doing it dry caused a problem? Is the adhesive very strong? I figured it would just pull right off.
Do you have any bubbles or blemishes on the front?

it's a silicone based adhesive. peels off fairly easy but keeps a strong bond. when I pryed the corner up, I pushed part of the adhesive so it clumped up and now won't lay flat. if you spray it down with water, you'll be able to slide it into place with out having to lift.
it looks like a large are in the picture but it really isn't noticeable. the backside went on with water without any issues. sucks that the back glass cost me 13$ and the front cost me 3 times that much only to have that messed up corner. you live and you learn. Lol

... Is that crap made out of Gorilla glass? Good god, that's a screen protector. None of this "Clear film" BS where if there's an Airbubble you just ruined a purchase, oh no, this is quite literally just another screen slapped on top.
What does it do to the thickness of the thing? My concern mainly is with cases like Sony's Battery case that kind of only work with just exactly how thick it is.
Not sure if it's really gorilla glass but no scratches so far from things that would scratch plastic protectors. It is pretty thin I can't say for the case but its under 1mm thick.
Does anyone know this?

Not sure if it's been discussed here before but I just applied the most amazing screen protector I've ever use on any phone. It's called ILLumiShield and they sell it on Amazon and eBay for a reasonable price and is absolutely fantastic it's so easy to put on bubble free, feels like glass even over the the crap protector Sony puts on. I highly recommended and no I don't work for them hehe

I found this issue to be greatly improved with the iLLumiShield screen protector. But it was definitely more of an issue with the cheaper screen protectors. You also might want to go to settings/sounds and uncheck vibrate on touch. I feel like this improve my touch sensitivity.

Turned off vibrate on touch and it seems a bit more more responsive in some areas, even though it probably is placebo. I have an iShieldz screen protector (similar to Zagg) and noticed that it wouldn't respond when I tap the screen sometimes. Though, I think that's the way I tap the screen, edge of finger vs finger.

Thanks for the tip. Just bought one. Been wanting a protection like that for my phone ever since removing the factory protector. The phone is a fingerprint magnet without the ASF. However found it for $16 and free shipping to Sweden (only front protection though, don't need it for the back).

I applied Glass-M screen protectors on both the front and back of my phone yesterday, and have been very happy with it so far. It's added a little weight, but it feels sturdier and more premium than before, and looks better than the plastic screen protector I had previously. The touch is also a lot smoother than the plastic one, which was a bit rubbery. I installed mine on top of the ASF, both front and back, since I didn't want the "harrowing" experience of removing it. I feel like it's protected well enough to do without a case, though I may get a slim one to cover the edges of the phone as well. Highly recommended. :good:

Received my GlassM this week, applied it yesterday. For whatever the reason, there is now, after 12 hours of use, a 10cm large, deep scratch (no, it's not dust, polished few times). Over the first night, the screen got the crack though. This morning I've noticed the deep scratch.
Yesterday evening, just sliding over my wooden table, impressed of its smooth, I notived two smaller light scratches. I thought so, "ok thats not really your truth, GlassM", but now it's really enough.
GlassM's support does not reply to my support request unfortunately.
Can someone recommend other Glass-protectors for my beloved ZU?
Greetings,
slay
Hi,
I'm currently using a simple rubber case for the side and back. But, as it has few downsides, I have a question: is the case really needed? I want to hear from you, how this phone performs without the case, does it scratch, or damage easily?
Thanks for any helpful replies.
I liked my phones how I like my women: naked. I didn't drop it once, so I can't tell you what damage it can take (although I'm pretty sure the glass might crack, but I'm not in the habit of dropping my phone), what I can tell you is that the back panel is easily scratchable, so I put a screen protector on it (only on the back). The screen is doing excellent by now, not a single scratch, although I might put a protector on it when the summer comes, I don't want any sand on the glass.
Depends, do you have any history of dropping phones? We all have different cases, some people drop their phones often, some do not. Also, there are a huge variety of cases for the z2, mine is a very thin 0.3mm case which feel good in hand, but doesn't provide that much protection.
Regarding the scratches, I can confirm that some cases scratch the back if there are dust and dirt trapped inside.
In my opinion yes, if u are not a rich man like me. Atleast ill use a case for 1 - 2 years before ill naked my phone.

Get a case if you dont like scratching the sides and the back of your phone. If you want to keep your phone slim with mediocre protection, you can try Spigen Ultra Fit. Im using it. Im happy with it as it has protected my phone from falls before, like 3 times, without any damage or scratch. Bulky ones arent my type. I keep my phone on my side pocket. Been using this phone for 7 months, not a scratch! Im just lucky or very cautious. Good luck!
It's not really needed, but I think it's worth the money because of the added protection.
For those that have used a case, have you also used a screen protector? Plastic or tempered glass?

I have replaced the back glass twice on my Z2.
Both times it cracked whilst in my front pocket.
I wouldn't suggest tight pants with the phone Haha.
EDIT: not hard at all. Look it up on YouTube. Took me about a minute.

Anyone hear uses InviGuard to replace Hard cases?
You might wanna consider a case that can lift up the back slightly. I didn't use a case, but 2 weeks later, I scratched the camera lens already. So I really suggest using a case

I don't use a case, because until now I believed in dragonglass. Unfortunately something scratched the back of my phone. Although Xperia devices are very good, next time I'll use a case.
I bought my phone and used it without a case for nearly one week. I was so stressed that it could slip and broke the front or back glass, then I bought a cheap but efficient hybrid case, it has like rubber and hard plastic covering the back.
Also, my phone now looks black, as it is white and I don't like that color.

Hi guys. I have had my LG G5 titan color for 3 days. I already have many fine micro scratches on the screen's oleophobic coating. These scratches are difficult to see as they are micro scratches that can only be seen in direct sunlight or a bright light source shining on the display from certain angles. My Nexus 6P has none that I can see after 6 months, and the LG G5 looks worse than any phone I've ever had. I always keep my phone in my left pocket all by itself. I don't see others reporting this, but it seems the oleophobic coating scratches very easily. Anyone else seeing this?
Are you sure you don't still have the plastic shipping screen cover on it? I used my phone for three days before I realized there was plastic on the screen.
Or did I remove something I shouldn't have? Lol.

I have to agree. I have plenty of those scratches that you can only see in sunlight and usually only with the screen off. Also a couple of more serious scratches that came from who knows where as I haven't dropped it yet (knock on wood). My G3 and Galaxy Nexus and S4 screens are all still in great condition with what I assume has been the same usage patterns. Coincidentally, I put my phone in my left pocket with nothing else as well. That must be our problem lol

Maybe we should have used the right pocket instead?
I started using my wife's silver color G5 and so far the oleophobic coating seems to be much better on this one. I have no idea how that could be. I still have the titan color phone and I'm going to try to cover up the micro scratches with the oleophobic solution I ordered off of Ebay. I'll let you guys know if that covers up the scratches nicely. I'm going to sell the phone after that since my wife decided to stick with her HTC A9 phone so I could keep the silver G5.

I've had the Silver AT&T edition for about 3 months and have a few of these micro-scratches on the coating also...pretty disappointed in this as I had an s2 and s4 previously and not one tiny scratch on either for years. Also keep it in my left pocket with nothing else. Is there anything we can do? Would LG cover this since it's not living up to what a flagship's screen should be? I saw a V10 thread on here with lots of users complaining about this very thing so it does seem to be an ongoing issue...Thanks...

Unfortunately LG would never authorize any repair service for cosmetic returns. They would simply tell you it's your fault for not putting a screen protector on it. My current silver phone still has not developed any micro scratches. I honestly believe there must be a difference in the oleophobic coating between some of the batches. Maybe some have more of it or a thicker coating? If you hate screen protectors like I do and the micro scratches bother you, I would strongly recommend that you get yourself an oleophobic coating kit from eBay to cover up the micro scratches. The good news is that if they are in fact micro scratches in the coating, the actual glass is perfectly fine. Sorry to hear about your issue.
Does the camera on the back have a plastic cover on it? Mine looks so, but I'm afraid of trying to remove it and ending causing some scratches...
Has anyone noticed that the glass on the back is very sensitive and scratches easily? Also my sister threw my keys to me about 10 feet away and it cracked the phone ??. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this fragile glass. Honestly disappointed that the glass scratches easily. I've had a Note 5 for 2 years and the glass isn't scratched yet..

The higher version of gorilla Glass the more prone to scratching it is but less likely to shatter. That's why they used 3 on the front and 5 in the back

Man that sucks. The only thing that makes sense to me of why that glass is breaking on certain phones is the outer ring surrounding the glass might be such a tight fit that it's under tension. Then randomly it just gives. Have you spoken to any customer support yet?

I'm afraid I'll have to spend that insurance money. I don't have it yet lol?. I didn't speak to any customer support but I don't know what to tell them. Hardware damage is pretty black and white to them. If anyone have any suggestions please feel free I can use it.

The hard thing is physical damage is really difficult to prove it's a manufacturer issue. Wouldn't hurt to call him and point them in the direction of the multiple complaints that already exists
I too noticed the glass on the back was getting scrached by having a case on!#. It was stupid. Good thing my girlfriend owns a cellphone repair kiosk and installed the pahnthon clear skin on it. Two days later i dropped my phone four steps away from reaching the second floor without my hard case and the phone didnt break thanks to the skin.
