Just curious were you flashing/customizing or some physical damage to the phone?

Mine was in fast boot thanks to ROmmanager (after clicking clockworkmod i clicked some other option)
then i tried flashing with kdz , but didnt succeed , some errors
i removed battery to switch off phone and then phone never turned on
Wow that is bad service.
Last time I had issues with my mobile I took it to the carrier. It was still under warranty. They gave me a refurbished mobile and took my dead one. That's how it should work IMO.
That's how most carriers do it in U.S.

I bricked my phone two days back..!! took it to LG service Center... and they told me the pcb has to be replaced
unfortuantely, none of the service centers have any stock of pcb's currently
so they've asked me to wait for another week or so.
its like my phones dead, i somehow need to bring her back to life

hey all, im interested in getting the galaxy s3 but im worried abut the reports of it overheating with one case of it exploding. do you guys have any overheating releated issues with your handsets too?
There's nothing wrong with them.

those are reassuring comments, but the pics of the phone that exploded are whats got me worried.
Every phone ever built will have at least one model exploding. It happened with the iPhone too.
Don't worry about it.

Somebody died swallowing water, that does not make the water poisonous.
There are 10.000.000 s3's out there, apart from the suspicion the exploded phone was microwaved, chances are that 1 out of that many apples contain a worm, 1 out of that many cars have a bad tail pipe. Etc.
Get insurance. Done. And even if it does explode within the first year, Warranty is there. After that? Insure with provider.

It exploded due to an unbranded car charger messing it up... Wasn't the phone itself.

Actually the report came back from a Samsung investigation that the phone was damaged by microwaves and that the user put the phone in a microwave to dry it off.
Search around and you'll find the link that was posted on xda.
Unless you are as stupid as that guy, it'll be safe.

Actually, within the EU the warranty is two years, if you didn't already know. (Check the warranty booklet if you don't believe me)
I'm always surprised how few people know this since all manufacturers provide it. Everyone just assumes it is one year.
Might not apply to OP (since there's no location), but just making sure no one gets ripped off buying an "extended warranty" for after the 1st year. Accident insurance is not the same though, and may well be worth it.

It could be that the previous owner had something stuck to the back of the phone. Perhaps velcro and the coloring is from the adhesive used? I don't know. Just an idea.
Its where the parachute deploys when its been dropped..

Please help! I bought my Nexus 10 on december 16th at Sams Club. Everything was working fine until today. I turned on my Nexus and the screen was all messed up. It is almost completely black with just a few colors showing.
It is not rooted or messed with at all. It still has the plastic covers. I can't believe this happened. One night everythings is fine, the next moring the screen no longer works. I haven't droped it or anything like that. I take good care of it.
What should I do? Has this happend to anybody else?

You said everything was fine untill this happened, so you've never noticed any distorted lines of flicker in the screen before this? I know some folks are seeing that happen intermittently and I'm curious if it might be related.

The transaction should be linked to your membership. They track what you spend.
Give it to the service center for repair you should not experiment on it by rooting it
Hello i bought my SGS3 a few months ago and recently it developed that battery charging problem so I've decided to take it to the Samsung service center.... BUT There are some problems:
a) i have lost the purchase receipt
b) Being desperate i tried to wipe clean the battery terminals on the sgs3 with a damp cloth(Dumb, i know ) and accidentally smudged the water detection paper (the one with the little 'x' all over it) placed just below the battery terminals(partially, as i can still see 2-3 'X's near its edge). :crying: but i swear the device was always, otherwise kept away from liquids, and if they open up the housing i'm sure they will find the inner water damage indicators absolutely intact and unsmudged..
is my phone still covered under warranty? i can't afford another device...pls help :crying:
First things first, this post should go under the Q&A section, not general.
The service centre guys might refuse warranty just on the basis of not having the receipt. Forget about the water mark. If you can convince them about not having the receipt, only then can you think about the water mark. There is another patch just under the headphone jack opening. Tell them what really happened and ask them to check the water mark under the headphone opening. Hopefully it'll not be smudged and they'll be convinced.
Good luck!
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Receipt doesnt matter. There is no S3 that is out of warranty yet.
Watermarks are a definite nono. There are two watermarks. Either one is activated, they will nail you. On eBay they used to sell those watermarks.
Good luck.
Now cue the idiot guy around here that says hit report to have thread moved.
it's not the receipt you should be worried about, it's the warranty document. if you don't have that, then you're out of luck
Actually you guys are both wrong....the service center can check if the device is under warranty just by checking the serial number and when it was manufactured etc etc.... So just take the phone with out any documents to a service center and you'll be fine as Samsung themselves gives two years
As about the watermark...it's all on them if they accept it or not

I had asked the same question once for my previous phone, LG P500, at the LG service centre and I got a good answer. He said that this is done so that they do not inadvertently repair a stolen phone for free. That would be unfair to the owner. The guy seemed sincere too.
BTW, I had been to the Samsung service centre, here in India in December, and they asked to see the receipt. Only then did they repair my phone, which was soft bricked.

I've never had a Nokia phone go bust, so, I never had to go to a service centre. But I've heard they do that, though. I've no idea if Samsung has that facility too.
If anybody can confirm this, we both would be grateful.

I've no idea where the OP is from, but here in India, the receipt IS the warranty document as it provides the date of purchase and the IMEI. I'm sure it is the same in other countries too.

Both questions can only be answered by your service centre .
In theory water damage indicators may void your warranty .
