Is there some reason I have absolutely horrible reception on att in in Orlando, FL area? I have tried everything and I can't reception except very rarely in certain areas. My captivate gets reception almost everywhere and I can't get my GS2 to connect to a tower hardly at all. I tried updating to stock KF1 with the JVKE4 CSC and XXKE7 Phone base band and it made no difference at all. Its not an issue of APN settings cause I get absolutely no signal bars anyways, when i do get signal it works fine which is only in certain areas not certain times, its all the time. Anyone have any ideas of what I should change to make it work? anyone in the central florida area that has working GS2 that could share their settings with me so I can use this awesome phone? wonder if I just got a bad one and just need to return it and get another one? anyone have an idea on that? the phone doesn't even find a tower with roaming on also.
im in NYC and i tried to flash a bamf.1.8 rom and was stuck on 1x after that. i thought it was the rom so i flashed cm7 rc06. again and 1x still. so is this a verizon issue?
Lots of us are going back and forth between 1x & 3g, and i'm in constant 4g area. Verizon must be working

Is your back cover on the phone? - It has the antenna and without it...it will not connect to 4G from my experience.
Then again, I'm in Bay area California and right now I have 1x since 12am. - I'm perplexed with the case because I didn't do anything since I just arrived back from Lake Tahoe about 4hrs ago.
*Possible that it's a Verizon outage issue. - Nice to see this since I just moved away from Sprint to grandfather this LTE unlimited data.. Never had one outage while with Sprint XD
Hope that they get it together!
I noticed it's been on 1X for awhile this evening as well. I attempted a battery and sim pull and let it sit for a bit but it was still on 1X when I put it all back and rebooted a few minutes later. If others in different areas of the country are experiencing the same then it's probably something on Verizon's end.
I think it's Verizon
I think it's Verizon. because I'm in San Diego and normally get 6 bars of 4G and not I'm getting 6 bars of 1X and 3 secs of 3G. I thought I had messed something up when i flashed the MR2.5 Radio then I went back to MR2 and same thing and then you guys have the same problem too. So I know I'm good now lol.
Running Gingeritits
im here in so cali and im getting 1x also and sometimes not even that. for a second i was abuot to curse my gingeriitis. how dare i even think such naughty thoughts. its all verizon. maybe they are getting some 4g towers near me.....ok probably not.
I had this happen to me this morning. I rebooted and my 3g came back. Not sure about 4g since I don't get a strong signal at work.

Jumping from 3g, 4g and 1x this morning in Atlanta, now its all 4g
I agree. Must be working on the network. Some days i get stuck on 1x and then it will go to 3G. I am on 4G right now without any issues. I just flashed GB with the newest radio leak and its smooth so far.
Yeah I was still stuck on it til this morning but I did a reboot and on 4G
Live in upstate NY... for the times that we even had data it was 1X and only 3G for like a second. it was killing me cause I rooted for the first time and I thought I killed my radio.. I could make calls but no data.
I figured by the way it would come and go that they were working. Same thing when EVDO came. They screw around at night all the time and then try to clean up their mess by the AM. You'd have no signal some signal.. and then holy **** moments where you would have like full signal in areas where you never get full signal... When they get to playin they go nuts.
everything gravey here in So Cal
Ever since I switched over from my EVO 4G, signal strength became very poor.... I constantly has no data and voice!? It has never happened to my original EVO... is anyone having the same problem?? Is there anything I could do on my end??

When did you switch? My LTEvo started doing that I guess around Friday sometime? I got a few texts and calls here and there, but now .... nothing incoming. But I can make calls out. Factory reset/cdma only/with&without wifi/prl&profile etc, *2 prl&profile also no luck, waiting to hear back from a tech. May take it to swap if theres any in and see. I got mine 24th? and had been great untill the other day.
I've had the same problem since last weekend. My phone keeps going to roam with 1-2 bars, whereas before it would be on Sprint's network with about 3 out of 6 bars.
Download speeds are slower than normal over the 3G as well. I used my OG Evo 4G in an area without WiMax, so I am used to Sprint's 3G speeds, but they definitely seem worse on the EVO LTE.
I try downloading Profile & PRL updates every other day, as well as rebooting daily, but it doesn't seem to help.
I also got mine on the 24th, and it has been bad ever since... I did some updates but seem no improvements, wonder if the signal booster apps from play store help...

It seems pretty wide spread about signal strength, data speeds, and wifi signal drop. I'm hoping it's a software thing and not a hardware thing. Software can be fixed with code, hardware...you're screwed! My wife has the LTE and has had this issues as well.

My phone started doing this today too. I really hope it gets addressed and it's not hardware, I don't feel like taking it back after just setting everything up.
Let's listen to ourselves and think about this for a moment....
:My phone started to do this today".
I guess it must be contagious because my wife's Epic 4G and my work Blackberry both developed it our home location as well.
An epidemic outbreak!
I have a sneaking suspicion that Sprint messed up the latest prl.
Also, wouldn't hurt to update profile and prl from Settings/System Updates
I was reading about signal issues on the Nexus S 4G (which is what my wife has), and they recommended turning NFC off. I tried this on both my Evo LTE and her NS4G, and it seemed to be better for a little bit, but when we woke up this morning, both of our phones were back to roaming.
I think the only thing left to do is blame Sprint's PRL update, since this problem seems to be affecting more than just our new Evo LTE's.
I was happy to see a thread on this, I got mine on Saturday and having had Sprint prior the signal strength is way less. It also tends to swing a lot, going from full to 1 or 0 bars. Sometimes when I pick it up and turn the screen on there is no signal at all.
My wifi has been awful, I turned of nfc and its fantastic! Thanks! I did have the missed calls and texts not going thru and I swapped it out at best buy and hasnt happend since
Edit: First few speed test where awesome, but when I leave the room my routers in the speed goes from 13mps to 4mps...
Apparently some people are having signal issues (i.e., dropping between HSPA and LTE where other AT&T phones are rock solid LTE) with the Developer Edition. HTC has said the Developer Edition may have signal issues since it is not "optimized" for AT&T. A few people have commented that ROMs based on the international HTC One may also have signal issues while running on the AT&T HTC One.
So for those of you running international roms such as Android Revolution or TrickDroid -- are you having any signal issues? Is signal strength as good as it was on stock AT&T ROM? Any trouble holding on to an LTE signal?
Thanks.

I wouldn't say that it's much an issue, but that the international roms show Att true signal strength. For example I have one bar of LTE in my house and my wife's iPhone 5 range from 2 or 3. My LTE speeds are almost double hers. The bars being shown whether on stock Att or international doesn't mean much. A good way to check signal strength would be to compare your db's.

No issues here. DBM signal, speeds all awesome on the International Roms. AT&T likes to make you believe that your signal is better than it really is.
Signal bars are a lie.
I have -95db signal and decent LTE speed

Thanks to all for the feedback.
Just a note though, that some aren't complaining about the bars, but about actually dropping LTE connections where other AT&T phones do not.

Yeah, that happens with me in my house sometime (if in my pocket etc) . Somewhere in one of these threads someone mentions how the international will drop connection at about -115db or something and Att drops around -125db. So that could be the reason.

I flashed my One to the Maximus 7 Rom and have noticed lower bars than usual. I live near a cell phone tower and all phones that I have had as well as others on ATT always have full bars while I can't seem to get more than 2-3. Today my phone started switching between H and LTE and acting weird while driving and it has never done that before. I'm on the latest 1.29 radio firmware and it hasn't helped...not sure how to fix it and for those saying this is just the true reading of signal, I doubt I would be getting such low signals when Im literally about 3 blocks away from a cell tower.

I did notice this too. I definitely have lower bars and lower speed as well....I have trickdroid 5.1 installed. I tried the ATT version before getting the dev version and I did not have this issue.
TrickDroid and ARHD both show true signal bars, but they will also switch to 3g from LTE sooner than the stock ATT load. they seem to switch at aound -120db where ATT will hold out until -130db. if you select att from the ARHD load, it hold on till about -125, still not the same but it works.
Like another person said, the stock ATT ROMs show a non real signal strength, where the Int'l ROMs do. It's all about your actual data speeds and the dB signal. I'm running ARHD 7.0 and have zero reception trouble. LTE speeds are fine.
Just replace /system/framework/ext.jar from an AT&T ROM and you'll get the "fake" AT&T signal icons...
Yup

My Co-worker cant keep the LTE signal for longer than 10 minutes.... and the phone gets hot as heck...is yours hot?
HTC One AT&T Variant TrickDroid 5.2.1 ROM with AT&T tweaks.
RSRP(dBm): -105 to -110 avg. RSRQ(dB): -10 to -12 avg.
No LTE troubles but I did notice during the ROM install before I picked AT&T as carrier it flaked out a few times saying something else besides LTE and H and kept going back and forth.
TrickDroid rom with AOSP icons are showing 1 to 2 bars. - At the bottom!! Whereas my stock rom was showing like 3-4 bars all of the time at the house.
SpeedTest with both roms at my house (not on wifi) = 15M down. 10-20 AVG. regardless of ROM.
hi to all ... i bought this evo 3d a few days ago..and its rly a good phone.. but i have signal reception problems ... its never full network coverage...maybe 2-3 bars of signal indicator. and when im a lil bit away from downtown i got no network coverage... my phone isnt rooted or anything like that. im newbie totaly in this android world... so could anyone give me an answer how to fix that or what to do to improve signal reception...
First thing to try is to update everything...
System
Prl
Profile
If that doesn't work, make sure there is no network outages.
Then you're sol unless you feel like rooting and getting s off

Sadly, I think this phone just has extremely poor signal reception. I have the same problems at times when friends and coworkers in the same area on different phones are fine.
