Well, we know that m4 aqua doesn't have native otg support. But is it going to detect usb devices connected via Y-type otg or power otg cable ??
I've seen some devices to work this way and also heard that it works for almost all devices. There are many devices out there with SD615 chipset and they have otg support.
so, the point is, has anyone tried it on m4 ?? is it going to work??
just making sure before buying a cable.
thanks.
So I tried using OTG devices with the Blackview Ultra with both the stock rom and CyanogenMod 12.1 installed but it just doesn't work. I have tried multiple USB OTG cables and none have worked, I know it is not the cable because it works fine with my friends phone. I have also run USB Host Diagnostics on the phone and it says that the OS supports OTG but simply no device is detected.
The bizarre thing is that the Ultra itself claims OTG support. It even comes with an OTG cable included in the box!
So if anyone could give me some insight on this it would be greatly appreciated. I really want to see some USB devices working with my phone. Thank you!
Bump
Anyone?
Like i said above. I wanted to update to 32.3.A.0.376 by using Xperia Companion but holding Volume Down while plugging in the USB doesnt do anything at all. Is it not working with the Z5 Compact or am i doing something wrong?

Your device must be powered off before doing so. Wait a bit, when it works the Notification LED is shinning.

I found out what was the problem. I used an usb3 port which doesnt work for it, sadly its not mentioned anywhere which made it hard to find out what caused the problem. If anybody else got that problem, try to change your USB port.
I also had serious connection problems between my (linux) computer (having only USB 3 ports) and the z5c running the 1st version android 7 (32.3.A.0.372). I was not able to flash any rom. Later I was not able to connect to Xperia Companion (from VirtualBox).
But my friends windows PC did work, so he was able to recover it quickly with Xperia Companion - and here comes the catch - using a USB 3 port. :cyclops:
FlashTool did not connect well on my linux laptop to the z5c @ 32.3.A.0.372 , but after upgrading to 32.3.A.0.376 it seems it does.
What version android do/did you run?

I have a non-rooted Sony Xperia Z5 Compact with the latest Android 7.0 version. Before that I had a Z1 Compact, now used by my wife, for which I bought 2 Kingston DataTraveller MicroDuo usb sticks. They worked (and still work) with the Z1 Compact, but on my Z5 Compact they are not detected.
I DO use the "Detect USB device" setting, but get the message that no device is detected.
My SD card is not encrypted. I tried Safe Mode, connect the usb stick and restarting, and all 3 formats (NTFS, FAT32 and exFAT), but nothing helps. As a last resort I did a reset to factory settings with SonyXperia Companion , but even that didn't solve it. I also tried connection via the Sony OTG cable and with other usb sticks , but no success.
Imo, the usb port cannot be the problem, because I can connect with my laptop.
Is there anything else that I can try ?
Thanks in advance.

Go to settings - device connection - usb settings - detect usb
I did that already from the beginning, as I wrote in my post above.
I have exactly the same problem. Android 7.0 and no possibility to connect device using OTG cable. I tried the "Detect USB" option and also tried to power off the phone and start it with the OTG cable but nothing happened...
Is there some limitation or bug about OTG functionnality in Android 7.0 on Z5C ?
Anybody else ?
Did it work for you on MM? Can't rule out the possibility of a Nougat specific bug.

I remember that I tried it once, but not as extensively as now (with all the formats, safe mode etc) and it didn't work then either.
OTG works for both my wife's Z5C and mine on MM, so if yours fail to function even on MM, then there's a chance of your phone having a hardware defect. Send it in for warranty service if possible.
Or, ask the manufacturer of your OTG device (Kingston) if Z5C is properly supported. Although supposedly a device compliant with a standard shouldn't need special tweaking for compatibility, I noticed that there's a list of compatible devices listed on the manufacturer's product website, and the Z5C is not on that list.
OTG not working
Has anyone found a solution. My Z5 is running android 7.1.1 and it cannot detect my flash drive. If any of you found a solution i would appreciate it if you could share.
I have redmi note 9 pro with global rom V12.0.2.0.QJZMIXM. I tried kali nethunter on it with AkameKernel that was made for nethunter and all worked, but when I tried to use my wifi adapter it worked but then it just disappear from devices list. Now it doesn't even see the adapter. It was connected with a otg from aliexpress usb 2.0. The problem can't be in the adapter cuz it works fine with kali linux on pc.
Can someone help and say what is the problem? maybe in the cheap otg?
Did you check by flushing WiFi framework through magisk?
